Latest Death/Black Metal Sensation KULT MOGIŁ Signs To Pagan Records

Death/Black Metal heathens Kult Mogił (translation: Sepulchral Cult) are the newest band to dwell in the sounds of the netherworld. Their potential has led to their recognition and signing of a record deal with Poland’s legendary Pagan Records.

The band was established in October 2014 in Tarnów, Poland. In April 2015 they released Demo 2015, which will soon be released on tape via Gravplass Propaganda. The band is currently recording their debut full-length album entitled Anxiety Never Descending, which will be released under the banner of Pagan Records. More information regarding the release to follow soon.

  Kult Mogił are the latest band you need to watch out for. Their sounds will appeal to fans of bands like Bölzer, Cruciamentum, Necros Christos, Doombringer or Cultes Des Ghoules.   Listen to Kult Mogił’s Demo 2015 via Bandcamp. Check them out online on their official website.

Philadelphia’s hard-hitting power trio ON TOP will release the CD version of new EP Topless September 29 on Toil Records. Pre-order the CD at this location.

Topless is the band’s third offering, one demonstrative of their continuing musical evolution. Following up the band’s raucous 2014 EP Top to Bottom (HPGD Productions), the new EP features ON TOP’s signature rock/metal blend heard on the previous two releases multiplied by 10. Topless contains more aggressive, yet dynamic vocals; a broader array of hooks, tastier licks, dynamite drums, and a much fatter production.

Topless was recorded at Tribe Sound Studios in West Chester, Pennsylvania, engineered by Brian Davis, and mix/mastered by Chris “The Wizard” Collier (KXM, Lynch Mob).

SAVIOURS – California Metal Behemoths Confirm North American Tour With CORROSION OF CONFORMITY; “Palace Of Vision” Full-Length To See Release Via Listenable Records Next Month

Italian Progressive Occult Metal visionaries, VOID OF SLEEP, will release their sophomore full-length next month via Aural Music. Titled, New World Order, the seven track concept album and follow-up to 2013’s acclaimed Tales Between Reality And Madness long player was captured by bassist Riccardo Pasini (Ephel Duath, The Secret) at Studio73 in Ravenna, Italy and mastered by Collin Jordan (Eyehategod, Indian, Wovenhand, Voivod etc.) at The Boiler Room in Chicago, Illinois.

“New World Order represents to us a new culmination of our sound,” issues of the band of their latest compositions. “Now more than ever you can call it visionary, sludgy and progressive. It’s an occult, esoteric and wicked metaphor to the modern society as we consider it: with no positive expectations of the future of this world. This album embraces the concept of evil in its purest form. Since the beginning, man has been doomed to consume and enslave and destroy his own kind in an absurd discord to the final extinction.”

Hi friends, kc here. My longtime friend and collaborator Gary Richrath passed away earlier today. I feel so sad. Gary was both a unique guitarist and songwriter, and the embodiment of the tough guy with a heart of gold. I learned most of what I know about being in a rock band from Gary Richrath. The entire REO Family mourns his death and shares in the grief of his family, friends, and fans. These words do not come close to expressing the depth of emotions I am feeling at this time…kc

HYPERMASS – Shines Through “Clouded Visions” On Début EP

Not all stones are stationary: Hypermass may recall images of huge monoliths, but these structures have speed! From the far-flung climes of Trondheim, Norway, Hypermass are a genre-melding Extreme Metal band whose goal is to draw upon the melody of death, black and thrash metal, and occasionally throw in some prog and jazz influences too. Clouded Visions is the result of intense jamming in these genres.

Sindre Dagestad, guitarist, commented on the recording process: “Since we didn’t have a producer there to tell us how much we sucked, we really went hard on ourselves to get the best result possible. It was a great experience, and all that hard work quickly paid off when we heard the amazing mixing/mastering job done by Stamos Koliousis, as he really breathed new life into the music.”

BAND BIO:

Hypermass is a Melodic Death Metal band hailing from Trondheim, Norway. Formed in 2012, the quintet first garnered attention from the local scene by fusing all kinds of different subgenres together, with elements of Black, Death, and Thrash Metal all while heavily relying on melody. Since releasing their first demo Into Oblivion in late 2013, the band have refined and focused their sound to a tight and extreme style of Metal, without forsaking the all-important melody.

In the summer of 2014, the band attended music high school and started writing their debut EP. Their bassist Martin Nordvik departed into the military, where he still serves. They got the interest of other bass players and quickly settled on the skilled Marius Grindflek. Their debut EP Clouded Visions was recorded in February 2015 by the band at the school (Trøndertun Folkehøgskole).

The band contacted several mixing/mastering engineers, before agreeing that Stamos Koliousis was the right choice, mostly for his incredible work with his own band Mencea. Now that the EP has been released and available worldwide, the band is currently in the early stages of writing their debut full-length.

Re-Armed have been around since 2001, when five guys from Kerava, Finland decided to start playing similar music likened to so-called “Gothenburg metal.” Their musical style has evolved along with many critically acclaimed demo tapes, gigs, lineup changes and a well-received debut album Worldwide Hypnotize, which was released internationally on January 2012 via Massacre Records. After releasing their debut, the band supported names such as Chimaira, Suffocation, Origin, Cattle Decapitation and Cryptopsy for the tours in Europe. In this year Re-Armed also made their first big outdoor festival appearance at Bloodstock Open Air at Catton Hall in the UK.

The second album Rottendam was released on January 2014 via Eternal Sound Records, but major lineup changes froze the band almost for a year. Former guitarist/songwriter Tommi Helkalahti decided to leave the band, leaving vocalist Jouni Matilainen as the only current former member in the band.

CRETUS – Releases “Dux Mea Lux” On Pavement Music; New Music Video Streaming

CRETUS’ music is hard-hitting thrash metal at its core; mathematically precise riffs, dive-bombing guitar solos, and thundering drums pummel the listener and their compelling melodies and bizarre pop sensibility make each song from Dux Mea Lux subtly addictive.

While it is unknown exactly when or where CRETUS formed, they began publicly spreading their message through music in 2014, with the group rapidly gaining strong support after their first show opening for legendary metal band DOWN in New Orleans. Devout followers of CRETUS pack into shows wearing the group’s signature black masks and cloaks, bobbing their heads in support as hypnotic lights pulse and dense fog surrounds them, becoming a raving heavy metal congregation unable and unwilling to escape the dark energy emanating from the speakers.

Multi-sensory performance rituals such as sacrificial demonstrations and strange pagan rites add an even more ominous tone to the already frightening spectacle of the four masked figures destroying the stage. Founding vocalist George Anthony leads the charge in 2015, joined by a no-nonsense lineup of hardcore convicts; drummer Mike Vega plays in legendary cult thrashers Hirax, while Matt Vicknair has spent time on bass in equally eminent USHC hardcore royalty Angry Samoans and the band now sees guitarist Nate Javier, also of Angry Samoans and others, joining the lineup.

India’s BEVAR SEA ‘Invoke The Bizarre’ On Upcoming Sophomore Album

Bangalore-based (India) Stoner/Doom Metal quintet BEVAR SEA will release its sophomore album Invoke The Bizarre worldwide on October 31. Pre-order the album at this location. Album tracks “Where There’s Smoke (There’s a Pyre)” and “Sleeping Pool” are now streaming at Invisible Oranges and The Obelisk, respectively.

In November 2014, after a 10-day whirlwind session at Adarsh Recording Studio in their hometown, the band completing the challenging task of following up such a well-received debut album. Invoke The Bizarre sees a musically maturing BEVAR SEA in exploration of new sonic territories while remaining rooted in Stoner and Doom Metal. The album was then mixed and mastered by Matt Lynch from LA’s Mysterious Mammal Recording between April and August 2015.

BEVAR SEA started out in 2007-2008, and became a serious performing and recording act in late 2010. They’ve since gathered an unprecedented cult following in the country based on their powerful live performances and recorded output, as well as in doom circles abroad. The band’s self-titled debut album was released in October 2012 to great response from both the local and international audiences, and favourable reviews from critics everywhere.

The album was recorded by the band themselves at The Doom Cave, and was mixed and mastered by Billy Anderson (Melvins, Neurosis, Sleep, High on Fire, Agalloch etc), and featured artwork by the band’s lead guitarist and artist Rahul Chacko.

The record showcased a fairly young band playing doom with generous influence from 70s hard rock, with all the hooks, melodies and blues-favoured riffs you’d expect from that combo. The positive response worldwide to the album went a long way to putting them on the map, even as far as earning them a slot at the prestigious Maryland Deathfest in the USA. Songs from the album became live staples since the release, and were also featured in various compilations worldwide.

Two years after the release of the first album, with more experience and skill under their belt, the band wrapped up writing new songs for the second album titled Invoke the Bizarre. The album is set for a 25th September 2015 release in India and October 31st for the rest of the world.

EYEHATEGOD – Forced To Cancel September Shows

EYEHATEGOD has been forced to cancel their recently announced September performances. Said the band in an official statement, “Due to an unfortunate turn of events, EYEHATEGOD has sadly been forced to postpone their four show September run this week. Many apologies to everyone with plans to see the band. EYEHATEGOD promises to make up these gigs ASAP. Housecore Horror Fest is still on the schedule for November and we are looking extremely forward to that.”

EYEHATEGOD released their Billboard-charting, self-titled LP last year breaking the band’s decade-and-a-half gap since their prior full-length and marking the most successful release in the band’s twenty-five-year lineage. Noisey crowned the offering, “…the record that EHG fans have been waiting for; a stomping and venomous set of eleven tracks that reignite the band’s amazing propensity for down-trodden, electric blues,” while Cvlt Nation proclaimed, “Everything we have loved for a quarter of a century about this band is all here, shimmering and glowing with more intensity than ever before… a classic EYEHATEGOD record… The legend lives on!”
