Voice Of The Soul - promo band image - #2014DM

Dubai Extreme Metallers Voice of the Soul have today announced the release of their debut album which will be entitled Catacombs. The album will be released via UK label Hell’s Hammer & India’s Transcending Obscurity on March 27th, 2015.

First formed in Kuwait on the opposite side of the Persian Gulf in late 2007, 17 year-old Kareem Chehayeb and 16 year-old Monish Shringi released their first EP, ‘Winds of Apprehension’ in July 2009 with second EP, ‘Eyes of Deceit’ seeking the light of day the following summer. After playing several shows in Dubai since January 2011, the band opted to relocate to the most popular city and emirate in the UAE before releasing their third EP, ‘Into Oblivion’, live on SOS Heavy Metal Radio in Portugal in August 2011. ‘Into Oblivion’ was undoubtedly the bands most successful record with songs receiving regular airplay across the globe.

During April 2014, the band made home at Haven Studio with producer Hadi Sarieddine in Dubai and recorded their debut full-length album ‘Catacombs’.

Kareem Chehayeb comments: “While the band started off as a straight up Melodic Death Metal band, ‘Catacombs’ took on a different shift. The thrash has virtually disappeared from our sound on this album and riffs have some added ‘colour’ now which was inspired by bands like Opeth, Gojira, Daylight Dies, and various jazz bands that really inspired me to start writing metal again. ‘Catacombs’ also introduces occasional clean vocals, as well as more doom metal on some tracks.”

Voice Of The Soul - Catacombs - promo album cover pic - 2014

The artwork (as seen above) was designed by Syrian Dubai-based artist Hamood Hallak of MHD Graphics, and was inspired by the concept of one of the tracks from the album called ‘Pendulum’.

Kareem elaborates: “While it appears evident that there is a priest/figure leading sheep, the cliff that they are about to walk off is within the temple itself. We don’t specify whether it’s religious or not, because religion isn’t the sole focus. It’s political, it’s social.”

‘Catacombs’ Track Listing:

1) Desolation

2) Perpetual De…

3) Pendulum

4) Quarantine

5) Cold Rupture

6) The Mist

7) Perdition

8) Defiled

9) Images Subside

THE CRINN – Release New Track From Forthcoming Album “Shadowbreather”

The Crinn - Merry Crinnmas - promo cover pic - 122414TC

Minnesota’s Experimental Metal extremists, THE CRINN, have released a third track on Xmas day from their forthcoming album, Shadowbreather!! The Artwork for the forthcoming album has been slightly revamped to coincide with the new track launching this week, and also to wish all their fans a very Merry Crinnmas!

Over the last two months, THE CRINN have reinstated their presence on the web and social media, releasing 2 new tracks back to back, kicking things off with a very DIY release of ‘Silent Betrayer’ and immediately following that up with ‘Endless,’ which premiered via No Clean Singing. Both tracks are now streaming via THE CRINN‘s Bandcamp page, as well as their Official YouTube Channel.

The Crinn - promo band pic - band logo - 2014 - #1776

Stay tuned to THE CRINN‘s Facebook page for more details and the link to the new track, which will go live on Xmas day.

Shadowbreather was recorded at Signaturetone Recording with producer/engineer Adam Tucker. An official release date has not yet been set.

2014 marks a decade of existence for THE CRINN, having formed during August of 2004 in St. Paul, MN. From its inception, the band decided to use an explorative writing style, without concern for genre exclusivity due to their frustration with the average and mundane, breakdown oriented metal scene. Their mixture of technical riffs, off-time grooves and jarring transitions has led to the band being labeled as mathcore, techmetal, techgrind, jazzmetal and even noodlegrind. Fans of THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN and PSYOPUS owe it to themselves to give THE CRINN a listen!

Apocrophex - band logo - 2014 - #001

American Technical Death Metal duo APOCROPHEX are pleased to release The Grey, the first single from their highly anticipated début full length Suspended From the Cosmic Altaar.

The Grey is the opening track from the upcoming album, set to be released 3/10/15 on CD and digital via NJ-based Manicidic Records.

The band released the following statement about the song:

“We chose “The Grey” as first contact because it fully represents our evolution and progression from the Wheels Within Wheels EP so well. Fans that have only heard those 2 short tracks are in for an eye opener with this album, due to its massive leap forward in song structure, overall technicality and sheer power. Lyrically, the song presents the listener with the ever unsettling and horrific threat of being limited in option, to feeling and experiencing only constant fear, or ultimately nothing at all...”

Pre-order information will be available soon.

OUR UPCOMING USA TOUR WITHOUT FERNANDO

Don’t worry – Fernando (Von Arb) is still an integral part of our band and will perform with KROKUS in the future as well, with the exception of concerts that take place in far away continents (from Switzerland). Such long distance travel is not conducive to his health. So, don’t worry – the band has absolutely no internal personal problems and we enjoyed the best year ever in KROKUS history. This is simply a precaution for Fernando’s sake. We do not want to go overboard and risk anything that can have an impact on the longevity of the band to perform for years to come!

Metal Grasshopper: Episode 5, Starring Down’s Philip H. Anselmo And Comedian Dave Hill Now Playing At Metal Injection

Posted in comedy, Metal, metal music, Music, music news, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , on December 17, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

Philip H. Anselmo - Dave Hill - Metal Grasshopper - promo pic - 2014 - #4777

The Metal Grasshopper series continues and Episode 5 offers a “Vulgar Display of Feelings” as Philip H. Anselmo agrees to undergo group counseling with delusional man-child, Dave Hill, in an effort to rescue the goat that also happens to be Anselmo’s grandmother. There’s not a dry seat in the house as Dr. Joe Randazzo aids Anselmo and Hill in an exploration of their feelings.

Scroll on over to Metal Injection to watch Metal Grasshopper Episode 5: “Vulgar Display of Feelings,” with the whole damn family at THIS LOCATION. While you’re there, catch your lazy ass up on the last four chapters”

Episode 1: “Origins” – Anselmo reluctantly agrees to share his Heavy Metal wisdom with Hill.

Episode 2: “The Awakening” – Anselmo schools young Hill on headbanging, Heavy Metal vocals, and the most extreme of all breakfast cereals. Oh, and Dave takes a phone message for Phil from King Diamond, which is awesome.

Episode 3: “Metal Or Not Metal?” – Anselmo puts Hill to the test with a round of Heavy Metal flash cards. Later Anselmo makes Hill sit in a closet for a seriously long time while he makes an awesome salad. Also, Hill rents a goat.

Episode 4: “Unscared” – Anselmo lets Hill loose on an unsuspecting public, where he meets an actual woman. Anselmo also schools Hill on stage banter, corpse paint, and other important topics. Later Anselmo and Hill get in a huge argument from which they may never recover!

Metal Grasshopper pairs the unlikely duo of Metal master Philip H. Anselmo with comedian, dandy, and NPR darling, Dave Hill. Hill begs Anselmo to mold him into “the baddest metal motherfucker of all time.” Anselmo begrudgingly relents and the abuse and absurdity reaches epic levels. Metal Grasshopper was directed by Chris Lee with Joe Randazzo, written by Chris Lee, Dave Hill, and Phil Anselmo, edited by Phil Costello and produced by Chris Lee.

Lamentations Of The Ashen Announce New Album Release Date

Lamentations Of The Ashen - Libertine Cyst - promo cover pic

Libertine Cyst To Release On January 20, 2015

LAMENTATIONS OF THE ASHEN, the blackened Doom Metal project of Bon Vincent Fry, will release their long-awaited album Libertine Cyst on January 20 2015.

Consisting of four epic tracks, Libertine Cyst is the follow-up to 2011’s EKIMMV. In regards to the album, Bon has released the following statement:

“Finally, after 3 years, I am pleased to present my 3rd full-length album, ‘Libertine Cyst’ to the world. This album was the most challenging thing I’ve ever had to do musically. I was dealt an endless amount of obstacles (some self-created) which constantly resulted in delaying my progress. I feel that this record stands as a testament that the path of maximum resistance produces a more thoroughly honed work of art. I think the material contained here marks a new height in my song writing and atmosphere for this project. It’s hard to express how pleased and relieved I am to finally have this behind me and shift my gaze even further into the blackness beyond the stars. This is where it ends for me, and starts for everyone else.”

Praise for past Lamentations of the Ashen albums:

“After many repeated listens, I’m fucking way beyond just impressed! Every song on this album is a dark majestic voyage to a universe where the evil thoughts of others are murdered by our protective black dragons.”- Cvlt Nation

“Stirring the aether with bleak and depressive anthems of blackened doom, Lamentations of the Ashen achieves wonder in an audio sea of woe.”- Worm Gear zine
