Post. Festival 2022 Announced

Posted in Hard Rock, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , on May 3, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

Post. Festival is back with a grander scope and eyes set on establishing the finest assemblage of niche rock artists to take place on American soil. Following the examples set by like-minded European events, the Post. Festival is as much about community and respect and support as it is about music and culture. It is a celebration both for fans and artists, an opportunity to come together and revel in a scene that has built itself from within to the point of global presence, without the aid of commercial status.

Some of the most exceptional and creative musicians work within the realms of “post”-adjacent genres, and it is this festival’s goal to bring as many of them as possible together for one weekend to give them the opportunity to show out and share their work with a wildly dedicated fan base.

Post. Festival Day 1 will begin at 5pm on Friday, September 9, and Day 2 will begin at 3pm on Saturday, Sept. 10.

Post. Festival 2022 is sponsored by Earthquaker Devices, Indiana City Brewery, Stranger Attractions Presents, Jenkins-Martin Drum Company, Indy CD & Vinyl, Futuro, Grumps Slice Shop, Heavy Blog Is Heavy, A Thousand Arms, Luxinvictus, Black Circle Music Bar, Young Epoch, Where Post Rock Dwells, Just Pop In, The Vogue, 1979 & Co., and The Alley Cat.

JUDAS PRIEST – To Headline Rebel Rock Fest On September 18th

Posted in Metal with tags , , , , , on April 7, 2020 by Metal Odyssey

Let’s only hope the festival season can get rejuvenated once again, especially by this mid September. God only knows what this coronavirus has in store for us all. In the meantime, I believe it is healthy to look towards the future and scope out the concert and festival dates that are currently being planned in months ahead.

Judas Priest headlines the Rebel Rock Festival, on September 18th, in Orlando Florida at the Central Florida Fairgrounds. This year is marking the 50th Anniversary of the iconic Judas Priest. Why Limp Bizkit is still a headliner is a scary mystery to me. Life surely is strange, indeed. I did check out this festival website and saw that Machine Gun Kelly is performing as a top bill too. Whatever. Judas Priest is king. Metal be thy name. – Stone

***Early Bird discounts extended through January 2015***

Tampa, Forida:  The Gasparilla Music Festival presented by SYKES (“GMF”), which kicks off the highly anticipated spring break and outdoor music festival season, has revealed its first round of musical performers.  With more artists to be announced shortly, the growing line-up includes Gogol Bordello, Gaslight Anthem, Trampled by Turtles, The Budos Band, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Dumpstaphunk, Hiss Golden Messenger, Roadkill Ghost Choir, Hot 8 Brass Band, Margo & the Pricetags, and Packway Handle Band. Local favorites include The Hip Abduction, Miggs Band, Selwyn Birchwood, Thomas Wynn & the Believers, RedFeather and Mt. Zion Baptist Gospel Choir.

Now in its fourth year, the festival promises its most eclectic and impressive musical line-up to date and will be announcing other top acts and local favorites in the upcoming weeks. In addition, the festival has announced that Early Bird discounted ticket pricing will continue until the full lineup is announced in January.  GMF takes place March 7-8 in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and Kiley Garden.

Past performers at GMF have included The Flaming Lips, Trombone Shortly, Jason Isbell, RJD2, Ra Ra Riot, Rebirth Brass Band, Deer Tick, Best Coast, Dawes, and Ozomatli among many others.

In keeping with the Festival’s theme of bringing together a massively wide range of genres – from Brazilian Gypsies to Brookly Funkmasters, country folk duos to Orlando Swamp Rock, Brass Bands to Church Choirs – GMF continues to offer something for every musical palate.

A sampling of the caliber and diversity included in this preliminary announcement includes: Selwyn Birchwood was the winner of the 2013 Blues Foundation International Blues Challenge; Roadkill Ghost Choir has garnered rave reviews from the tastemakers at SPIN, Rolling Stone and Relix; Gogol Bordello has scored several early TV appearances with Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon and Letterman; Packway Handle Band has been voted Athens’ Best Bluegrass Band three years running in the readers’ choice Flagpole Magazine Music Awards; festival favorites Trampled by Turtles have graded stages at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits Music Festival, Coachella and Stagecoach; Daptones artist The Budos Band have made fans worldwide with their infectious instrumental AfroSoul music including appearances on NPR; Hiss Golden Messenger debuted on The Late Show with David Letterman just a few weeks ago; and Nashville’s Margo & the Pricetags, whose voice and songwriting has been compared to that of Loretta Lynn’s, was featured in Rolling Stone’s “10 New Artists You Need to Know for Fall 2014”. More information on all of these GMF performers can be found at:

The four performance stages are centered in the cultural playground of downtown Tampa between the Tampa Museum of Art and the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts. This grand venue is just across the river from the historical Henry Plant Hotel along the city’s scenic Riverwalk. There is not a more picturesque and unique location for a music festival.

GMF takes place amidst the several months long legendary Gasparilla celebrations that make Tampa a top destination for revelers of all ages.

Part of the Gasparilla Music Festival’s mission is to support and promote music and education. The organization is involved throughout the year in several initiatives including their “Recycled Tunes” program which collects used musical instruments to refurbish and donate to local schools and their continued efforts to provide scholarships to local music students.

GMF also supplies financial and mentoring assistance to other non-profits and rallies to promote transportation alternatives. The festival aims to not only entertain but to engage the shared, powerful experience of live music to help sustain, inspire and encourage a stronger sense of community.

The Gasparilla Music Festival takes place March 7 & 8, 2015.

More Artists & Vendors will be announced in the coming weeks so check out for the latest updates and additions.

M3 ROCK FESTIVAL – On June 19th, 2010, the M3 Rock Festival once again returns… and this year I’m there! I already received my two tickets through the “snail mail” this past Friday and with that… it is Metal official! What a glorious day of Rock ‘N’ Roll it shall be. Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and Hair Metal fans unite! The juicy part of this entire M3 Rock Festival is that the unreal legendary Scorpions will be headlining! Getting an opportunity to see this historic Heavy Metal band on their farewell tour is a Metal privilege I shall cherish forever.

My other ticket for M3 will be for my best Metal buddy – Scott Coverdale. With all of his Metal research and CD’s he has uncovered for Metal Odyssey to jump up and down about… he deserves my buying his ticket. Plus, I’ll even splurge for the room and board Coverdale needs too… he is traveling from very expensive Connecticut to Pennsylvania, then he is driving my Metal lovin’ behind down to M3. That’s a Metal buddy.

I’m looking forward to meeting up with my other Metal buddies from Hard Rock Hideout too! Rob Rockitt, Brian Basher, and Ryo Vie are on board. I have already met up with Ryo Vie, he and I checked out Charm City Devils and Pop Evil together back in March of this year… he has a cool blog too called – The Rock and Roll Guru.

Just take a Metal looksie at the outrageously cool lineup of bands that will be Rockin’ the M3 Rock Festival… as I mentioned, headlining is the Scorpions, with Cinderella, Vince Neil, Kix, L.A. Guns, Winger, Warrant, Nelson, Jetboy, Trixter, Bang Tango, Dizzy Reed, ZO2 and Black Mambooza! Now, the only band I’m not familiar with here is… Black Mambooza. Give me time… I’ll rectify that Metal situation soon.

In my Metal past, I have seen Cinderella, Winger and Vince Neil – (fronting the incredible Motley Crue that is). So, getting to M3 to see all of these bands in one day is a Metal dream come true. I anticipate a real cool and gooood time… with hopefully some very cool stories and pics from M3 to share to the Metal and Hard Rock family around the world! Trust me, I’ll get the memories out on Metal Odyssey!

* The M3 Rock Festival is held at the Merriweather Post Pavilion, in Columbia, Maryland.
