On October 21st, 1989 – Living Colour reaches #31 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with Glamour Boys. This song was Living Colour’s fourth single released from their 1988 debut studio album: Vivid.
On this day in 1995 – Def Leppard reached number two on the U.K. Singles Chart with When Love & Hate Collide. This song would be Def Leppard’s biggest hit in their home country, while only reaching #58 in the United States.
On October 21st, 1997 – The ever charismatic David Lee Roth released his autobiography Crazy From The Heat. Diamond Dave’s autobiography revealed stories about his days in Van Halen and as a solo artist. Rock climbing and stories of his childhood were also covered. Crazy From The Heat also ranked at #13 in Rolling Stone’s The 25 Greatest Rock Memoirs Of All Time.
On this day in 1998 – Alice Cooper filed a lawsuit against KISS, claiming their song Dreamin’ sounded too similar to his band’s iconic hit single I’m Eighteen. This suit would be settled out of court the following year. Dreamin’ is a song from the 1998 KISS studio album: Psycho Circus.
On October 21st, 2006 – Bob Seger sang America The Beautiful before Game 1 of the 2006 World Series at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan. This marked the 102nd Major League Baseball World Series, with the St. Louis Cardinals defeating the Detroit Tigers: 4 games to 1.
On this day in 2006 – Evanescence were at #1 on the U.S. album chart with their second album The Open Door. This release became the 700th #1 album in Billboard, since the chart became a weekly feature, dating back to 1956.
On October 21st, 2011 – Paul Rodgers, famously known as vocalist for Free, Bad Company, The Firm, The Law and Queen + Paul Rodgers, became a Canadian citizen during an hour-long ceremony at Central City Tower in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Paul Rodgers has been married to former Miss Canada Cynthia Kereluk since 2007.
On this day in 2014 – Slipknot .5: The Gray Chapter is released. This marks the first Slipknot studio album without the late, beloved founding member, songwriter and bassist Paul Gray. This album also marks the first without drummer Joey Jordison. The new drummer’s name has not been revealed. Metal be thy name. Rest in peace, Paul Gray.
