Machines Learning – Release Self-Titled Album On Bleeding Light Records

Posted in Hard Rock, Metal, Music, music news, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , on October 20, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

Machines Learning - promo album cover pic - 2014 - #ML011

Bleeding Light Records is happy to announce that MACHINES LEARNING self-titled album is now available on vinyl and digital formats.

San Diego’s MACHINES LEARNING are a band that show the listener that there is more than one way to be dark and dramatic. Incorporating elements of post-rock, shoegaze and several other creative styles, MACHINES LEARNING carve a faded and rustic canyon through your ears.

Equal parts abrasive and accessible, MACHINES LEARNING recently released their self titled full length in June and have now joined with Bleeding Light Records for a digital and limited vinyl release of the album. Limited and signed versions of the vinyl, as well as digital versions are available now at Bleeding Light Records.

Order and stream the album at this location:

https://bleedinglightrecords.bandcamp.com/album/machines-learning

Praise:

“The ‘atmospheric’ will definitely come in on tracks such as “this destroyed me”, an instrumental treat which uses just the right amount of effects before leading into the chord-heavy, structured guitar and slightly syncopated, heartbeat-driven drum patterns that are very customary to the group, and heard throughout the album.” -The IndieSD

“With crunchy chords that induce a dreamy gaze and generate heavy fields of sonic thrust, Machines Learning has taken cues from Billy Corgan and Kevin Shields and interprets these influences well. ” -Letters From A Tapehead

I catch myself starting to hum along to them. I can’t however stop drawing musical comparisons to some great guitar bands from said 90s, and especially the early Smashing Pumpkins come to mind. -Echoes & Dust

ISIS REISSUE “OCEANIC” ON NOV. 4th

Isis - Oceanic - promo album cover pic - remastered - 2014

RE-MASTERED RELEASE INCLUDES NEW PACKAGING

San Francisco – ISIS reissue a remastered version of Oceanic, the band’s 2002 album, on Nov. 4th via Ipecac Recordings.

Oceanic was Terrorizer’s album of the year for 2002 and in a multi-page “Hall of Fame” article discussing the influence of the nine-song release, Decibel Magazine said “Unlike Celestial’s outright anger and brutality, Oceanic was expansive, inviting and in many respects, the opposite of its forebearer. Surely, it was still Isis, for Aaron Turner’s howl and the group’s undulating tumult still played a significant role in how they communicated, but the collective had aged, learned to open up and, as you will learn, smoked Boston out of its reefer reserves. With tracks like opener ‘The Beginning and the End,’ the body/mind-moving ‘False Light’ and the exceptional ‘Weight’ —with Maria Christopher’s fey voice leading the despondent charge— Oceanic was, for all intents and purposes, a sea change moment for Isis.”

“With the Oceanic remaster I feel we’ve saved the best for last,” explained drummer Aaron Harris.  “The clarity that’s been revealed in these songs was surprising even to me. I’ve heard these songs probably thousands of times. When I listened to the remastered version of “Weight” it was like I was back in the studio recording the song. I also noticed a lot of new detail in Jeff’s bass guitar, and energy in the guitars. I know Oceanic is a favorite among fans, and I think this remaster will bring a new appreciation even to those who have heard it many times.”

A Soundcloud stream of the remastered version of “The Beginning and the End” is available here:

The band, in partnership with Ipecac Recordings, has previously reissued re-mastered versions of Celestial, Panopticon and TemporalMika Jussila remastered Oceanic and artwork revisions were handled by Aaron Turner.

ISIS’ final studio album was Wavering Radiant, which was released in the spring of 2009. The group disbanded in 2010.

Oceanic – Track Listing:

The Beginning and the End

False Light

NERVECELL – Dubai-Based Death/Thrash Unit To Reissue Psychogenocide Full-Length Via Unique Leader Records In January; Studio Clips + Live Footage Posted

Nervecell - promo band pic - 2014 - #1776DM

Dubai-Based Death/Thrash assault, and recent Unique Leader signees, NERVECELL, will reissue their critically lauded Psychogenocide full-length next year.

Initially released via Lifeforce Records in 2011, Psychogenocide was produced and engineered by Rami H. Mustafa at Spellbind Studio in Dubai, United Arab Emirates with drums engineered by Joe Haley at Red Planet Studios in Australia, then mixed and mastered by Wojtek and Slawek Wieslawscy at Hertz Studios (Behemoth, Vader, Decapitated) in Bialystok, Poland. The album features a guest vocal appearance by Nile’s Karl Sanders on the song “Shunq (To The Despaired…King Of Darkness)” and reaped mass approval from major media outlets globally.

Metal Hammer championed the band’s, “…thrilling contrast between oriental and musical culture,” furthering that, “these elements don’t collide, they complement each other,” Legacy extolled, “an amazing oriental death-ax and a must have for every Metal hornet,” while The Metal Observer gushed, “it’s quite the quandary to find an even remotely average track on Psychogenocide. NERVECELL‘s latest is a Death Metal album that succeeds in part to its strong focus on memorability and song structure. Things work exceedingly well from start-to-finish…”

Adds the band in a collective statement:Psychogenocide is an album about manipulation and the deception of the human race for an agenda of a higher purpose. A modern approach to the old-school Death/Thrash metal sound, that is both technical yet melodic and full of the NERVECELL signature Middle Eastern twist.”

Psychogenocide – Track Listing:

  1. Anemic Assurgency
  2. Upon An Epidemic Scheme
  3. All Eyes On Them
  4. Amok Doctrine
  5. Psychogenocide
  6. Imprint
  7. Shunq (To The Despaired…King Of Darkness)
  8. The Taste of Betrayal
  9. Driven By Nescience
  10. Nation’s Plague

Nervecell - promo album banner pic - psychogenocide - 2014

Forged in 2000 as one of the first Extreme Metal bands to emerge from Dubai and having toured alongside legendary Metal acts such as Metallica, Morbid Angel, Deicide, Decapitated and Suffocation, NERVECELL are true torchbearers for a Middle Eastern wave of Metal. The band released their debut full-length, Preaching Venom, in 2009 via Germany’s Lifeforce Records (Europe) and Spellbind Records (Middle East) followed by their critically-adored Psychogenocide long player just two years later. Their unique blend of Middle Eastern Death/Thrash and a reputation for debilitating action-packed live performances helped pave their way to playing some of Europe’s most renowned festivals including Wacken Open Air, With Full Force, Rock AM Ring, Rock IM Park, Summer Breeze and Brutal Assault.

The widespread success of Psychogenocide also awarded NERVECELL the honor of being crowned the “All Time Best Selling Metal Act” in the Middle East and North Africa region, consequently receiving a plaque of recognition from Virgin Megastores (MENA) in January of 2012 certifying this huge accomplishment. Psychogenocide was also lauded as one of the “Top 10 Death Metal Albums Of 2011” by media outlets globally including Metal Hammer Magazine who named NERVECELL one of the “Defenders Of The Faith,” listing the band as one of the “50 Heroes Of The New Metal Revolution.”

Psychogenocide will be reissued on January 27th, 2015 via Unique Leader Records with preorders to be announced in the coming weeks. In the meantime check out various studio clips as well as live footage from the band’s pummeling performance at Kaltenbach Open Air at THIS LOCATION.

Scarlett Gypsy Album Cover

Reunited East Coast band delivers fresh sounds, combining old school rock, glam metal and melodic vocals to fans across multiple genres!

__________________________________

YORK, Penn./PRNewswire/ — The Glam Metal Rock Band Scarlett Gypsy has garnered the attention of fans and critics alike with the unveiling of their eagerly awaited debut album – All Access – available now on Amazon, iTunes, CDbaby and Bandcamp.

The bevy of sub-genres associated with glam metal and hard rock have often given birth to one-off bands and songs, but rarely is there an entire band assembled with the primary purpose of getting in a room together to watch what happens when their respective creative juices blend into an album like All Access. Well, Scarlett Gypsy is one band that delivers it straight with the volume cranked up high.

Scarlett Gypsy was an up & coming rock band in 1991-1992 when the industry changed and left them behind. Beginning in 1991 as a highly admired Glam Metal Hard Rock Band, Scarlett Gypsy began taking on America as they journeyed the turbulent east coast early 90s rock scene in the Philadelphia/South Jersey area, focusing on clubs like The Empire & The Galaxy that launched the careers of bands like Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Britney Fox, Heavens Edge and Tangier along with hometown hotspot The Tourist Inn that launch bands like Halestorm and Kix.

Fast-forward 20 years – the band reunites and immediately took Google+, Twitter and the rest of the Internet by storm. Longing for their music to finally be heard, Scarlett Gypsy put a few songs to some of their concert footage and posted it on YouTube and within a few weeks had over 100,000 views on their Google+ page with fans requesting where they could buy the music. As all things that fade away seem to become fresh again someday, the band decided to independently release their first studio album internationally now available on Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, CDbaby and Bandcamp.

Scarlett Gypsy is an American Rock Band originating from York, Pennsylvania, with David Mathew on Lead Vocals, Steve Plonk on Guitar & Vocals, Robert Douglas on Bass and Scotty Scarlett on Drums & Vocals. Together these four combined create a great new refreshing sound of old school rock complete with blazing guitar riffs, melodic vocals and infectious hooks.

The debut album delivers old school rock, ballads and wild party rock’n choruses for all new glam metal heads and rockers alike to enjoy. Boldly combining elements of raw rock with glam fueled gritty guitar riffs, melodic vocals and all-around high-octane music, this Gypsy Band is determined to please every fan’s need to rock-out on hot summer nights to catchy hooks, fist-pumping party-rock choruses and rhythmically loose powerful rock music.

On October 17th, 1970Free peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with All Right Now. This song was to be their only single to reach the U.S. top 40. The Free band lineup included: Paul Rodgers on vocals, Paul Kossoff on guitar, Andy Fraser on bass/piano and Simon Kirke on drums.

On this day in KISSTORY – October 17th, 1989KISS released their Gold album, Hot In The Shade. This spectacular KISS album spawned 3 major hit songs: Rise To It, Hide Your Heart and the power ballad Forever, with each respective song having its own hit music video on the MTV rotation. Hot In The Shade is the 15th studio album release, within the KISS discography.

Sadly, this was the last KISS studio album to feature the great Eric Carr on drums. Eric Carr passed away from cancer in 1991, at the very young age of 41. On Hot In The Shade, Eric Carr sang lead vocals on the song Little Caesar. The only other song Eric Carr sang lead vocals for, while with KISS, was the remake of the classic: Beth, which is featured on 1988’s Thrashes, Smashes & HitsBruce Kulick was the lead guitarist, with legends Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons rounding out the band lineup.

This hit single is featured on the second studio album from Firehouse, released in 1992: Hold Your Fire. Regardless that Grunge was the fashion genre of this era, Firehouse proved that a Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band could still sell millions of albums in the early 90’s.

About Slayer:

The Chicago Tribune‘s Greg Kot wrote that the five-time-nominated, two-time Grammy winning Slayer is “one of the great American rock bands of the last 30 years, forget about genre.”  Their membership in “The Big Four” – Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax – the four bands that defined the thrash/metal genre – secures their place in music history. Indeed, few bands come close to matching the intensity that Slayer brings to its live shows, having been named “Best Live Band” by numerous media outlets including RevolverSPIN, and Metal Hammer.  With songs that mirror the turmoil and aberrations of our society – God’s terrifying global genocide, the chaos of our broken political system, chemical warfare, the hideous minds of serial killers and the way-too-close proximity of world horrors that technology has brought us, Slayer remains crushing and brutal, steadfastly refusing to cater to the Mainstream.  Slayer’s founding member, guitarist Jeff Hanneman passed in 2013, and Exodus guitarist Gary Holt has been filling in since.  The band is currently in the studio recording a new album set for an early 2015 release.

TWINGIANT – To Release New Album

Devil Down To Be Released This Winter

______________________________

Phoenix Sludge masters TWINGIANT are set to release their new album Devil Down this winter. Devil Down is the follow-up to their critically acclaimed album Mass Driver and was engineered and mastered by Ryan Butler (Landmine Marathon) at Arcane Digital Recording.

The band had the following to say about the new album:

“We’ll be releasing our 2nd, full-length album entitled, Devil Down, by the end of the year. We’re really happy with how it’s coming along and it’s been nothing short of awesome working with Ryan Butler (Landmine Marathon) of Arcane Digital Recording. Since Tony (guitars) joined the band last summer, our sound evolved as you would expect. We have more of a 70s/Southern Rock feel now and it’s really evident on Devil Down, more so than when we were flirting with that sound on the Sin Nombre EP. The vocals are probably the most noticeable change from the prior two releases. You can actually understand 75% of what Jarrod is saying and there are more of them now. Devil Down still has all the elements that you would expect from Twingiant, but you can definitely tell that we’ve matured and found our stride. We can’t wait to release it.”

Further details about the album, including track listing will be announced shortly.

KISS “Love Gun” – Deluxe 2CD Version Releasing On October 27th, Via UMe; All The Details Here!

Kiss - Love Gun - promotional album cover pic - 1977

New version of 1977 studio recording contains previously unreleased demos, live tracks, 1977 Gene Simmons interview and liner notes by Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott

_______________________________

As reported on the KISS Facebook:

Legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees KISS continue to celebrate their 40th anniversary with the release of a deluxe two-CD version of their 1977 platinum-plus album, Love Gun, coming out October 27, 2014 on Universal Music Enterprises (UMe). The band’s sixth studio recording, Love Gun was the first album to feature lead vocal performances from all four original band members, and has since gone on to sell more than four million copies.

The two-CD edition will include the complete re-mastered first album, featuring such classics as the title track, “Plaster Caster,” the song inspired by Cynthia Plaster Caster, the groupie famous for taking casts of rock star genitalia; “Shock Me,” written about Ace Frehley suffering an electric shock during a concert in Lakeland, Florida; “Christine Sixteen,” and “Then She Kissed Me,” the band’s cheeky, gender-switching cover of the Crystals’ 1963 hit penned by Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector.

The second disc is made up of rare, never released Love Gun demos of “Plaster Caster,” “Tomorrow and Tonight” and “Much Too Soon.” The first four lines of the demo “I Know Who You Are” eventually evolved and became the song “Living In Sin” and the rest of the lyrics and music became “I Know Who You Are.” A glimpse into Paul Stanley’s creative process is demonstrated in “Love Gun (Teaching Demo)” with Stanley talking through the various chords of the song after writing the song. The next version “Love Gun (Demo)” is the complete demo performance. “Reputation,” the only previously released demo, was originally included on this year’s KISS 40 compilation.

Also included is a 1977 interview with Gene Simmons, as well as three never-available live tracks from their show at the Capitol Centre, Landover, MD from December 20, 1977, “Love Gun,” “Christine Sixteen” and “Shock Me.” The package comes with liner notes especially written by Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott, recently on tour with KISS.
