THE FOURTH STUDIO ALBUM OF SUPREME DEATH METAL FROM SWEDEN’S MASTERS OF HORROR
“Apart from being really sinister, cruel and dark, Grand Morbid Funeral was also the album that kicked Bloodbath into a higher gear. The hunger and determination behind it, made us go from a rather passive side/studio-project to a real active live band, for the first time.” – Blakkheim
Swedish death metal titans Bloodbath’s fourth studio album ‘Grand Morbid Funeral’ turns 10 this year. To mark the anniversary, Peaceville will be reissuing the album on limited edition silver/black marble-effect vinyl. Recorded at Ghost Ward Studios and the City of Glass Studios in Stockholm and mixed by David Castillo, ‘Grand Morbid Funeral’, was undoubtedly the band’s darkest and dirtiest opus upon its release in 2014; an organic collection of filth-ridden tracks straight from the grave, boldly eschewing the approach of somewhat over-produced modern death metal in favour of something altogether more rotten to the bone.
“When A class songwriting meets supreme death metal played by and for fans, don’t even try to resist” 8/10 METAL HAMMER
“Bloodbath have perhaps never sounded quite so sinister as they hammer, bash, kick and spit at anyone getting too close to the aural war they declare from the outset” KERRANG
Formed in 1998 with a mutual fascination for horror & the glory days of death metal (especially the old Florida & Stockholm ‘Sunlight’ scenes), the band has remained a leading light of extreme metal since their ‘Breeding Death‘ EP was unleashed back in 2000, and a formidable force in the metal world for over twenty-five years, notable for the inclusion of Katatonia, Opeth and Paradise Lost members.
With doom-like melodies mixed with raw and savage riffing, and featuring a number of guest appearances including Chris Reifert and Eric Cutler from US gore-masters Autopsy, ‘Grand Morbid Funeral’ marked a new high-point of brutality for Bloodbath.

This limited edition of ‘Grand Morbid Funeral’ marks the album’s tenth anniversary and is presented on limited silver/black marble-effect vinyl, with printed inner sleeve. Released on 14th June.
Apocryphal sign to The Circle Music for the release of their first album since 1999’s “Black Dreams of Silence”
Melodic death metal outfit Apocryphal have signed to The Circle Music for the release of their new album, and their first since the 1999 debut Black Dreams of Silence. The new album will feature the powerhouse vocals of Soilwork‘s legendary frontman, Björn “Speed” Strid.
After crafting ten tracks of pure melodic death metal mayhem, Apocryphal knew they needed the perfect voice to bring their vision to life. Enter Björn “Speed” Strid, whose aggressive yet melodic delivery has cemented him as one of the genre’s most respected vocalists.
“All we needed was a singer to complete the line-up and take this LP to another level,” says the band. “Finally, the mighty Björn “Speed” Strid completed the line-up and recorded the vocals for the upcoming album.“
The album is now ready, boasting stunning cover artwork by Valnoir of Metastazis and mastered at Skull Tone Studios by Nino Helfric.
The band said: “Our new album may come as a surprise to those who know us, but all the ingredients that make us unique are there. Perhaps less atmospheric, but more effective, the mix of melody and aggression will make every song stick in your head from the first time you listen to it.”
“We are convinced that our decision is the best one to spread our next LP worldwide,” added Apocryphal. “The Circle Music is the perfect record label for our new start.”
Formed in 1992 as Post At Funerals, Apocryphal found their current name and sound by 1994. Their early releases, including the 1995 demo From Depths, showcased their blend of death metal, atmospheric, and progressive influences. After a period of inactivity following the release of their 1999 album Black Dreams Of Silence, the band reformed in 2022 and their new album is set for release in 2024.

About Mike Hrubovcak:
Mike Hrubovcak is an American illustrator who lives and breathes metal. Although highly versatile in creating a broad array of fantasy and horror-themed visuals, he has become best known for his extremely graphic and gore-laden death metal album covers.
Introduced to metal at a young age, Hrubovcak began his album cover ventures in 1993, drawing the demo covers for his high school death metal band Disillusion. This was also the jump-start of his extensive vocal career, which was later spring boarded by the formation of the band Divine Rapture with his brother J.J. Hrubovcak (now in Hate Eternal). While creating artwork for his band, Hrubovcak also did pen and ink, airbrush, and oil paintings for other bands and fanzines.
Hrubovcak’s vocal and musical career also flourished over the years, featuring on many records and touring for the bands Divine Rapture, Azure Emote, I.C.E, Vile, Hypoxia, and the early ‘90s Tampa death metal legends, Monstrosity.
Hrubovcak has created art for Relapse Records, Century Media Records, Revolver Magazine, Headbangers Ball, The Party.San, Maryland Death Fests, Hate Eternal, Sinister, Grave, Mortician, Decrepit Birth, Cattle Decapitation, InHume, Pathology, Guttural Secrete, Avulsed, Rumpelstiltskin Grinder, Cephalotripsy, and many others. He also had a monthly feature called Nightmare Visions on MTV’s Headbangers Ball Blog (taking over for the discontinuation of Paul Booth’s weekly art posts).
Hrubovcak’s artwork even branched into illustrating B-movie DVD covers and being used as background set dressing for a Universal Pictures feature film and has been displayed in many art galleries and featured in collective art books worldwide.

With Lifeless Birth, NECROT continues their ascent to the forefront of American aural extremity, pushing the boundaries of style and continuing to recast metal in their image. Founded by bassist/vocalist Luca Indrio and drummer Chad Gailey in 2011 with guitarist Sonny Reinhardt joining the following year, the Oakland, California trio offers Lifeless Birth as a culmination of their to-date efforts to encapsulate and push forward the deathly stylings of 2020’s Mortal and their 2017 debut, Blood Offerings.

After having their Mortal tour plans scuttled owing to the COVID pandemic, family health issues that led Indrio, who became a US citizen in 2016 and currently lives in Mexico, to return to Italy for a time canceled what would have been their first tour post-plague. Still, despite this and Gailey suffering a broken back, requiring multiple surgeries and intense physical therapy to be able to drum again, period, Indrio being struck with Bell’s Palsy the night before he was originally due to fly to the studio to record, and Reinhardt requiring multiple surgeries on his hands in the months since they finished, NECROT charges forward with material distinguished in its real-world point of view and willingness to look beyond extreme metal tropes in lyrics, the melodies of its guitar solos, and unbridled audience engagement.
Cerebral Rot is dead. From its maggot-infested corpse an entity even more repulsively loathsome has emerged, CORPUS OFFAL. Cerebral Rot’s lead guitarist/vocalist Ian Schwab and guitarist Clyle Lindstrom have reconstituted in this ghastly operating theater, now with the new rhythm section (de)composed of Jesse Shreibman (Bell Witch, Autophagy) on drums and Jason Sachs (ex-Demoncy) on bass.
With the Cerebral Rot songwriting core intact, CORPUS OFFAL reeks of similarly foul decrepitude and bludgeoning subterranean weight. Additionally, a sickly goregrind presence hovers over the murk like a horrid miasma, engulfing the tunes with a cadaverous redolence.
The two demo tracks here, “Ripened Psychosis” and “Gorging Gastric Decedent,” will both appear on the band’s eventual debut LP (in re-recorded form) to be recorded by Billy Anderson straight to tape later this year and released in 2025. For now, inhale the first rotted whiff of CORPUS OFFAL in demo form to sate your lust for excretion.
The tracks on Demo 2024 were mixed by Michael Foster and the band members, mastered by Dan Lowndes at Resonance Sound (Krieg, Drawn & Quartered, Witch Vomit), with art by Ian Schwab and layout by Dan Fried. If the works of Fetid, Cenotaph, Goatlord, Undergang, Cianide, and of course Cerebral Rot frequent your gravedigging playlist, CORPUS OFFAL should be on your list.
CORPUS OFFAL’s Demo 2024 is out today on cassette and digital via 20 Buck Spin; Find it at the label webshop HEREand stream it at YouTube HERE, and Bandcamp HERE.

Philadelphia’s MALPHAS return with the second single/video off their sophomore full-length. Listen to “Leviathan’s Moonlit Sanctum” at all streaming/download platforms now. In addition, the band has also premiered a new music video HERE .
“Leviathan’ marks the point in the story where Malphas returns to the real world. He and his demons murder the power elite figures on the island, but then travel to a nearby village and subjugate the people there,” explains singer/guitarist Paul DeSanctis. “The main character has a vision where he sees a demonic totalitarian government on the other side of the portal; he realizes he’s left the door wide open for them to take over.”
Both songs continue the tale and concept revolving around the demon Malphas and his encounters with people in life and death that the melodic death/black metal band began telling on their debut ‘The 39th Spirit’ released on Poland’s Via Nocturna in 2018.
’Portal’ takes place chronologically two hundred years prior to the events of ‘The 39th Spirit,’ explains Paul. “The album explores new themes like politics, economics, and historical events in fleshing out how the dystopian world in ‘The 39th Spirit’ comes to be.
‘Portal’ was recorded, mixed and mastered by Chris Kelly (Ice Nine Kills, Baby Metal, Galactic Empire). The new album, ‘Portal,’ will be released on CD and digital platforms March 29th and is available for preorder now HERE.
About MALPHAS: Founded by Paul DeSanctis and drummer Eric Dunleavy in 2012, guitarist Damian DiFrancesco and bassist Joshua DeJesus joined the lineup in 2014 and 2019 respectively. Appealing to fans of CHILDREN OF BODOM, WINTERSUN, DIMMU BORGIR, SEPTIC FLESH, and IMMORTAL, MALPHAS produce a sound comprised of symphonic melodic death and black metal.
The band debuted with their EP The ‘Conjuring’ in 2015 followed by their first full-length, ‘The 39th Spirit’ in 2018. MALPHAS have toured Europe supporting Norway’s Keep of Kalessin and Finland’s Shade Empire, with US runs opening for Tengger Cavalry, Felix Martin, and Helsott.

SIX FEET UNDER will unleash their pulverizing fourteenth studio album, Killing For Revenge, on May 10th through Metal Blade Records.
From the opening moments of first single, “Know-Nothing Ingrate,” which kicks off the record, it’s immediately clear that SIX FEET UNDER focused their energies into something that’s as brutal, lyrically visceral, and musically dazzling as one would hope for from the ground-breaking Tampa-bred death metal. Killing For Revenge, a gnarly beast of a record that’s not for the faint-hearted, dishes up nightmare-inducing imagery courtesy of frontman Chris Barnes via the vocalist’s trademark guttural vocals. Both the album title and darkly detailed red-hued album cover by artist Vince Locke are perfect containers for the brutality within.
“I chose the title Killing For Revenge after we completed writing and noticed that all the lyrics and storylines had a common theme of revenge. Revenge by human or revenge by nature,” Barnes says. “The album title describes the flow of the stories within the lyrics perfectly.”
Watch a lyric video for SIX FEET UNDER’s “Know-Nothing Ingrate” at THIS LOCATION.
Killing For Revenge marks the second album that Barnes and guitarist Jack Owen (ex-Cannibal Corpse) have created together since reuniting for 2020’s Nightmares Of The Decomposed. Owen also produced Killing For Revenge. “We worked well together in Cannibal Corpse,” recalls Barnes. “I loved him to death as a friend and a musician, so I’m really comfortable giving him the reins because I just have such great respect for him as an artist.”
The songs on Killing For Revenge dive headfirst into subjects that are as gleefully vile, graphic, and downright grotesque as you might dream of from a Barnes/Owen project. After all, the two men were vital cogs in the Cannibal Corpse band that released such delightfully offensive death metal classics as Butchered At Birth and Tomb Of The Mutilated. SIX FEET UNDER also recorded a cover of Nazareth’s “Hair Of The Dog,” which appears on all formats of Killing For Revenge with the exception of vinyl.
As a first preview of the record, today the band unveils “Know-Nothing Ingrate.” Notes Owen, “This music was written early in the writing process. Wanting to keep the aggression of a prior SIX FEET UNDER song like ‘Amputator,’ I wrote music in the style of early Dark Angel or Kreator, who always had cool driving drumbeats. I had all the riffs in my head as I wrote the drums in a couple hours. Lyrically, I kicked around a phrase that fit the stop parts throughout the song. After coming up with ‘Know-Nothing Ingrate,’ the lyrics wrote themselves. It’s basically about online trolls who voice their uneducated and unnecessarily spiteful review of any artist’s output. You’re entitled to your opinion, and I’m entitled to mine.”
SIX FEET UNDER was initially formed as a side project for Barnes during his final years with the band that he co-founded, Cannibal Corpse. It became the frontman’s sole focus in 1995, coinciding with the release of their debut, Haunted. Only Barnes remains from SIX FEET UNDER’s original incarnation, but the quality has remained remarkably consistent. The current lineup of Barnes, guitarists Owen and Ray Suhy, bassist Jeff Hughell, and drummer Marco Pitruzzella make for a devastating unit.
Killing For Revenge, which features a guest appearance by guitarist Jason Suecof on “Neanderthal,” was mixed and mastered by Chaz Najjar at Badlands Recording in Denver, Colorado. The record will be released on CD and digital formats as well as vinyl in the following color variants:
180g Black (US) Clear w/ Red Bloodshot (US) 180g Black (EU) Crusted Blood Marbled (EU) Khaki Brown Marbled (EU – Ltd. 300) Blood Red Splatter (EU – Ltd. 300) Gold “Black Dust” (EU – Ltd. 200)

The Black Dahlia Murder has recently finished recording their next full-length album with longtime producer Mark Lewis at his studio in TN. More news on the upcoming album will be released over the year so be sure to keep eyes on the band’s and Metal Blade’s socials for updates.
The Black Dahlia Murder‘s last full-length, Verminous, was released in 2021 via Metal Blade Records. Without compromising a scrap of heaviness, the record stands among the band’s most dynamic, rousing, and emotional releases to date.
International melodic death metal project ACT OF DENIAL has dropped the lyric video for their latest single ‘Unbury The Hatchet’, which bring you back to 90 and early 2000 with some old school Gothenburg vibe. The single has a new guest on drums, Eugene Ryabchenko (best known as drummer of FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE).
“We are extremely happy that we have a new song out after almost 3 years together with a new lyric video. Once again video is done by our buddy Wanderley Perna who did also our 1st lyric video for ‘Your Dark Desires’ from our debut album and he did an amazing job as always. Thx bro!!
We are also satisfied that we are recording again since it is very difficult for us at this point. People we are working with, are very busy already with their own bands and it is hard to find any time for some side projects. 1st album was made during Covid time when everyone was stuck at home, so they had time, now is completely different situation but somehow we’re still managing.
Also thanks every AOD fans and supporters for making this happen. What everyone is wondering and asking us lately, will there be a new album from AOD soon? Unfortunately I can’t confirm anything about that topic, as already said, some of the guys already started their tours or they will start it soon, but I can give a hint about a new song that is in the works with some cool guests, and not only 1 but a few, but we will leave that aside for now.
We will be updating all on our socials when time comes. Stay tuned, healthy and beautiful. As always Rock on!!”

Today marks a monumental moment in the metal music scene as DEATH SCYTHE releases their latest single, “Ek Balam,” an epic blend of melodic death metal and ancient Mayan lore. This release promises to captivate listeners with its intense musical journey into the heart of Mayan civilization.
“The band elaborates on the legends that inspired the single: “‘Ek Balam,’ a musical tribute to the Mayan deity, unveils the mystical aura of a cosmic jaguar. Amidst the celestial canvas, Ek Balam emerges as the guardian of the night, the keeper of time, and the protector of the skies. With fiery eyes and a cosmic essence, Ek Balam symbolizes the seamless connection between the earthly and celestial realms. The lyrics narrate the legend of this divine jaguar, a powerful and enigmatic entity gracefully dancing among the stars, resonating with an ethereal melody in the expansive tapestry of the night.”
Recorded with precision and passion, “Ek Balam” stands as a testament to DEATH SCYTHE‘s musical evolution and their commitment to exploring the connections between history and heavy metal. The artwork accompanying the single draws heavily on Mayan iconography, featuring symbols and deities that evoke the ancient world’s complexity and mystique.

“Perfect Prey”, Dave Gregor states, is “about control and how the powers that be can really put a stronghold on us as humans, I felt it was like shooting fish in a barrel and that we as people were the perfect prey.”
Scaling new heights of brutality for the longstanding US death metal veterans, ‘Creation Undone’ is the latest work of inspired extremity from frontman and mastermind Dave Gregor and co. In a time when the band’s iconic and celebrated debut ‘Dying Remains’ reaches its thirty year milestone, and with recent live activity on both sides of the Atlantic seeing the quartet performing to a ravenous fanbase of metalheads both old and new, Morta Skuld returns with a ten track opus of pure death metal in their unrelenting and unwavering pursuit of heaviness.
With themes exploring an increasingly savage, corrupt and destructive state of the world in present times, and executed with a razor-sharp precision, with ferocious and hook-laden compositions to match and even exceed any of their highly-regarded early output. ‘Creation Undone’ was recorded and mixed at Belle City Sound Studios by Chris Djuricic, with mastering work conducted at Flatline Audio with Dave Otero.

Kraków (PL) – WillowtipRecords has signed Polish Death Metal duo DORMANT ORDEAL! The band is preparing to enter the studio soon to record what will be their first album for the label and the fourth overall, following 2021’s The Grand Scheme of Things (Selfmadegod Records).
The band released the following statement concerning the signing:
“We’re honored to announce the signing of a worldwide deal with Willowtip Records. Many great releases that we personally hold in high regard have been featured on this label and we are thrilled to be joining the roster. We truly appreciate the trust Willowtip have placed in us – can’t wait to start this chapter!
We’re planning on going into the studio in the upcoming weeks to record our fourth album. We may be the worst reviewers of our own music, but one thing we can say for sure – it is more ‘us’ than ever. The successor to 2021’s ‘The Grand Scheme of Things’ is planned to be released later this year.”

GRAVESEND
New York City-based GRAVESEND released their second LP for 20 Buck Spin, Gowanus Death Stomp, in October. A gritty and primal barrage of violence at the crossroads of criminal depravity and urban malaise, GRAVESEND utilizes many tools of the trade: black, death, grind, and war metal all meld seamlessly into a tar pit of scathing back-alley sadism and acid-tongued vocals
Like a newly found corpse down by the docks, the smell of decomp is wafting out of every track on Gowanus Death Stomp. And as with NYC’s underground legends from Cro-Mags to Swans to Type O Negative, GRAVESEND embodies the pulse of the city, even as that pulse bleeds out on the concrete. Gowanus Death Stomp was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Tomb Mold, Kommand), and the album was completed with cover photos by Mark Weber.

Based out of Fargo, North Dakota, MAUL impacted the US death metal underground through via various demos, splits, EPs, and their Seraphic Punishment full-length debut in 2022. 20 Buck Spin picked up the band on the strength of that first album and while the band painstakingly constructs their new full-length, they made their label debut with the Desecration And Enchantment EP in November. The songs were captured in May 2023 at Signaturetone Recordings in Minneapolis (Ulthar, Obsequiae, Sunless), recorded, mixed, and mastered by Adam Tucker. The songs feature guest synth and sample work by Isthmus of Styx, and the EP is completed with cover artwork by S. Deloria Black Wolf.
Death metal quartet SLAUGHTERSUN present their first ferocious offering, “Fall of the Firmament”. Brutal riffs, aggressive vocals and unrelenting percussion produces an unstoppable force as the track displays their lament for the miserable collapse of an ever sinking world.
Ben Karas comments on “Fall of the Firmament”:
“Lyrically this song combines the lore of the Nephilim, which are a race of giant angels rumored to be responsible for the great flood, and pits that dynamic against the tech age and the giant names of that industry mimicking the decadence and ugliness that brought about the end times.”
About SLAUGHTERSUN: Drawing musical, lyrical and creative influences from the likes of DEMILICH, GORGUTS, CANNIBAL CORPSE and AT THE GATES, to name a few, SLAUGHTERSUN create their own take on the death metal subgenre. Band founder Ben Karas initially began writing for SLAUGHTERSUN back in 2017, but it wasn’t until 2022 that Karas was able to fully dedicate time and energy into the band. The band’s line-up soon came together comprised of Karas’ THANK YOU SCIENTIST band mate Cody McCorry, along with Jason Quinones (TOMBSTONER) and Justin Hillman (CRANIAL DAMAGE). In 2023, SLAUGHTERSUN began to rehearse and record in their full form and soon turned to preparing their debut “Fall of the Firmament”.

Kyiv (UA) – After a long silence, Ukrainian Brutal Death Metal quartet SCHIZOGEN have released a lyric video new single “Out of the Light,” courtesy of Slam Worldwide YouTube Channel. The song will appear on the band’s forthcoming, as yet untitled, third album, which will be released on WillowtipRecords. The video is available at: youtu.be/wFkRsQExeWI
“The single was written before the full-scale war that followed Russia’s unprovoked aggression against Ukraine,” the band explains. “So it took much longer than we would have liked, but we hope you will appreciate the result. We are not going to tell you what this song is about, what meanings and feelings we put into it, because in our opinion everything is very individual. That is why the release is in the form of a lyric video, where everyone can familiarize themselves with the lyrics while listening to the composition, experience it with us and get their own emotions, their own vision of the meanings embedded in this track.”
SCHIZOGEN goes on to say that, “We want to remind you and ask you not to forget that every day our best people bravely and steadfastly choose their freedom over the threat of losing their existence due to the aggression of a hostile totalitarian regime that wants to destroy us at any cost. Your support is very important to us! Glory to Ukraine!”
