Blackened death juggernaut BLOOD OF THE WOLF has returned to embark upon a Campaign of Extermination.

Bio:

BLOOD OF THE WOLF is a blackened death metal band from Chicago, Illinois. Formed in 2012, BLOOD OF THE WOLF combines breakneck riffing with memorable melodic passages, relentless drumming and intense vocal delivery. In 2013 the band released a two song demo and in 2015 they released their first full-length, I: The Law of Retaliation. BLOOD OF THE WOLF has been pummeling audiences with relentless, nonstop aggression. The group has shared the stage with national acts like Marduk, Belphegor, Inquisition and Incantation. In 2018, BLOOD OF THE WOLF will release their second full-length album, II: Campaign of Extermination. Fans can expect the same level of barbaric ferocity, decisive, melodic passages and violent drumming.

EXHUMED – Gore Metal Merchants Announce US West Coast Tour With INCANTATION; 70000 Tons Of Metal Cruise Nears

The Gore Metal merchants in EXHUMED will terrorize the West Coast next month alongside Death Metal veterans/labelmates Incantation. The tour commences February 22nd in Fresno, California and tramples its way through seven cities ending on March 3rd in Oakland, California. Direct support will be provided by Phobia. The journey follows the band’s appearance at the 2018 edition of 70000 Tons Of Metal alongside Cannibal Corpse, Enslaved, Goatwhore, and many others and comes in advance of their previously announced Grind Over Europe II Tour with Rotten Sound and Implore.

EXHUMED will be touring in support of their Death Revenge full-length, recently released via Relapse Records. Issues frontman Matt Harvey, “Our tireless efforts to worm our way into your ear-holes continues! We didn’t get to hit all the cities we wanted to since the release of Death Revenge, so we asked our buds in Incantation and Phobia to come out and rage with us on the West Coast. This tour will be short, fast, and extremely fucking loud, so don’t miss it. This is a call to all Death Metal maniacs, grind freaks, and nutty friends – don’t fucking pose – DECOMPOSE!”

Death Revenge sees EXHUMED tread into ambitious new territory as their first concept album; a thirteen-part musical melodrama based on shocking true events. Death Revenge takes place in the late 1820s in Edinburgh, Scotland and tells the macabre tale of a series of brutal murders where the victims’ cadavers were sold to anatomists, amid a grisly underground trade of grave-robbery. Recorded with producer Jarrett Pritchard (Goatwhore, Gruesome), Death Revenge takes the band’s signature gore-drenched, Death Metal mayhem to theatrical and ghastly new depths.

BEHEADED are a Death Metal band from Malta and their 2017 studio album released via Unique Leader Records, Beast Incarnate, has kicked my Metal loving ass severely. BEHEADED can also be labeled as a Melodic Death Metal band as well; regardless, their sonic brutality is all that needs to be remembered as I give you the Metal details on Beast Incarnate. This album turned out to be one of my most favorite in a very long line of Death Metal album releases from 2017.

The opening title track, Beast Incarnate, I can easily choose to be the very best song on this album; however, this entire album is nothing short of Death Metal bliss. BEHEADED put together 8 songs that are insanely addictive if you love your Melodic Death Metal like myself. The guitar solo on Reign Of The Headless King resonates above the rhythmic blasts, a fine example of how no moment on this album is muffled, flat or low in production. The Black Death is a wonderful song that features wonderful blasphemous imagery, if you put your Metal mind to it like I do.

Punishment Of The Grave is the albums’ epic closer and showcases the brilliance that BEHEADED has musically offered to our Death Metal souls; an amazing song that highlights the bands’ guitarists and leaves me stunned. This album is a killer and as deadly as a cornered rabid sewer rat. BEHEADED have become a mainstay for my steady diet of Death Metal and I highly endorse Beast Incarnate. The vocals of Frank Calleja are incredible and this band has mucho talent from every Metal angle, in my Metal opinion. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone

KROSIS – North Carolina Based Death Metal Unit Joins Unique Leader Records

North Carolina based Death Metal unit KROSIS is the latest addition to the Unique Leader Records roster. The band will release their forthcoming full-length in 2018.

Issues the band in a collective statement, “We are inexplicably humbled and thankful to be part of a family that some of our favorite bands have been a part of. To have Unique Leader Records see our project as something as worthwhile, original, and significant as we do means more than we can put into words. It is an understatement to say that we are looking forward to our next step as KROSIS,with Unique Leader Records at our sails.”

KROSIS was formed in Raleigh in 2014. A group of talented musicians and friends saw an unsatisfactory pattern starting within modern Metal music. The diverse collaboration of influences that make up the framework of KROSIS is why they put out the music that they do. Too much of modern Death Metal and Deathcore is limited to a paradigm; KROSIS seeks to eliminate boundaries. With backgrounds of rock, jazz, concert bands, and music theory, they pull no proverbial punches in terms of diversity, originality, and heaviness. They bring together many parts of a musical spectrum and emerge with an eclectic sound that proves appealing to lovers of heavy, themed music.

“We are all about creating new trends, fresh ideas, and even entirely unique genres,” the band notes. “Most of all, we’re proud to present every track, knowing that we gave our listeners and fans our absolute best. CANNIBAL CORPSE – To Kick Off US Headlining Tour With Power Trip And Gatecreeper Next Week

CANNIBAL CORPSE will kick off their US headlining tour in support of their upcoming Red Before Black full-length next week. The tour will commence on November 3rd and run through December 8th with support provided by Power Trip and Gatecreeper. See all confirmed dates below.

Many words come to mind when you hear the name CANNIBAL CORPSE, but one truly defines the soon-to-be thirty-year death metal veterans: Unstoppable. Produced by Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, Goatwhore), Red Before Black, the band’s fourteenth album, serves to not only reiterate this but to once more raise the stakes, making it very clear who sets the standard when it comes to always compelling music that is equally brutal and complex.

Moreover, the band have pushed themselves again, ensuring that it stands out from their catalog. “Throughout our career we’ve tried to improve the precision of both our musical execution and our album production, while still maintaining full-on aggression. Red Before Black continues in that direction, but might go even further on the aggressive side of things,” asserts bassist Alex Webster. “It’s definitely precise, but it has a rawness to it that goes beyond anything we’ve done recently.”

“We really worked super hard crafting these songs, practicing them, and getting them where we wanted to be more so than on any of our previous albums,” adds drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz. “And as Alex said, musically I think it’s the rawest sound we’ve had – and at the same time I think it’s our most focused, tightest and catchiest record.”

Finnish Death Metal trio DESOLATE SHRINE will release new album Deliverance from the Godless Void November 10 on Dark Descent Records. The album’s opening track, “The Primordial One,” is streaming below and at https://youtu.be/4q2Ua5RV-pI

It may be DESOLATE SHRINE’s fourth album (third on Dark Descent Records) in six years, but the band shows no sign of fatigue on their newest opus. The band continues to erase the already thin line existing between Black, Death and Doom and once again come out of the abyss with their own instantly recognizable style.

Recorded during 2016 with the same core trio since 2011’s debut Tenebrous Towers, this new beast, while no less epic than its predecessors (three of the seven songs featured here are at over eight minutes long) is even more textured and tortured while at the same time highly atmospheric.  And while a track like “Unmask the Face of False” may be the heaviest and slowest they’ve ever done, that doesn’t prevent “Demonic Evocation Prayer” from being transfigured by hellish blast beats either. Still, as with each of their albums, DESOLATE SHRINE‘s latest full-length is to be considered like one big entity, almost like a ceremony if you will, one that demands to be experienced from beginning to end without interruption.

Chilean Black/Death Metal Band OCCASVUS Releasing Debut Album on Unspeakable Axe In September

Chilean Black/Death Metal Squad OCCASVS will release debut album Nocturnal Majestic Mysteria via Unspeakable Axe Records on September 29th.

Tremolo-picked riffs intertwine around blast beats, and the vocals are growled, shrieked, and even sung in eerie, stentorian harmonies.

The Chilean underground scene has thrived for aeons with great bands playing every brand of extremity. OCCASVS is both unique within that scene and a fitting encapsulation of it, combining Black Metal with Death Metal, Heavy Metal and more.  They lay in wait for years as their long-in-the-works debut album was fine-tuned to their exacting standards. BENEATH – Icelandic Death Metal Titans To Unleash “Ephemeris” Via Unique Leader This Summer; New Track Streaming

Ephemeris is the third full length release from Icelandic Death Metal titans, BENEATH. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Fredrik Nordström (Arch Enemy, Dimmu Borgir, In Flames, At The Gates, etc.), at the acclaimed Studio Fredman in the fall of 2016. After the departure of founding member and drummer Ragnar Sverrison, BENEATH teamed up with Mike Heller (Malignancy, Control/Resist, Fear Factory) to handle the drums for the album. The result is nine tracks of relentless brutality; an odyssey through the forthcoming millenniums of exponential colonization of planets and galaxies by human induced technology; a world where technology has gone way beyond the frontier of the imagination.

Commented vocalist Benedikt Natanael Bjarnason, “We are immensely proud to announce the release of our third full-length album Ephemeris. We teamed up with Mike Heller to provide session drums for the nine-track album which adds a whole new dimension to the soundscape of BENEATH. Make sure to not miss the release date on August 18th!”

Guitarist Jóhann Ingi Sigurðsson adds, “Ephemeris has been a demanding album for us personally and in many ways, it represents a turning point for the band. We’ve always pushed ourselves in ways that keep us invested and engaged in our music­, and on this album, that meant making big changes to our overall sound. BENEATH was formed in 2007. The band released their first EP, Hollow Empty Void, in 2010 which landed them a record deal with Unique Leader Records. In 2012, BENEATH released their first full-length, Enslaved By Fear. The album was mixed by Daniel Bergstrand (Behemoth, In Flames, Meshuggah) at Dug Out studios in Uppsala, Sweden. In 2013, the band headed to Bialystok, Poland to record their second full length, The Barren Throne, with legendary Death Metal producers, Wojtek and Slawek Wieslawski, known for their work with bands like Decapitated, Vader, and Behemoth.

The record was released in April 2014 to stellar reviews with No Clean Singing crowning it, “one of the best albums of the year,” hailing their special brand of, “dynamic, intricate Death Metal with a touch of somberness and depressive melody.” Angry Metal Guy concurred, “The Barren Throne is the culmination of … [all the] anti-religion, hate, death, blood, and gore of Enslaved By Fear only this time it’s dragged out across a lengthy eleven grueling abominations,” while The Sludgelord championed the record’s meticulous fusion of, “black, death, and a little bit of prog, all mixed within a cauldron of dark imagery and a tale of a dark being awakening and creating a world of despair and destruction.” 2017 welcomes Ephemeris.

THE CONVALESCENCE: Symphonic Death Metal Unit To Release “This Is Hell” Full-Length Via Unique Leader Records – New Track Streaming

Symphonic Death Metal unit/recent Unique Leader signees THE CONVALESCENCE will release their This Is Hell full-length via Unique Leader Records on September 1st. The ten-track offering was produced by John Burke (Forever In Terror, Captain Kid, etc.), at Vibe Studios, mixed and mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy, Despised Icon, Beyond Creation, etc.) at The Grid and comes wrapped in the macabre cover art of Coki Greenway.

Issues the band of the upcoming release, “We recently signed with Unique Leader Records to help us deliver our heaviest and darkest album yet with This Is Hell. We believe this is by far our best work and  the strongest lineup of musicians we have ever had. This album has a lot more of a death metal feel to it than Poison Words and The Process but it’s still got THE CONVALESCENCE sound with symphonic melodies from Katie [McCrimmon] on keys and plenty of slamming breakdowns.”

Founded in the spring of 2011, THE CONVALESCENCE is a six-piece collective featuring vocalist Keith Wampler, guitarists Brandon Davis and Zac Lunsford, bassist Ronald Buckley, drummer Charles Webber, and keyboardist/vocalist Katie McCrimmon. Together they fuse deathcore with theatrical elements of black metal and the shredding guitars and blast beats of modern death metal. Italian Death Metal collective HIDEOUS DIVINITY, featuring within its ranks current and former members of Hour Of Penance and Aborted, are preparing to unleash their third full-length via Unique Leader this Spring. Titled Adveniens and scheduled for release on April 28th, the follow-up to the band’s critically lauded Cobra Verde long player was recorded, mixed and mastered at Stefano Morabito’s 16th Cellar Studio (Hour Of Penance, Fleshgod Apocalypse etc.) during the Autumn of 2016, includes a rendition of Sinister’s “Embodiment Of Chaos” and finds HIDEOUS DIVINITY offering up their darkest material yet.

“It may be pretentious to talk about evolution inside our musical genre, this is what Adveniens truly means for us,” elaborates guitarist Enrico Schettino. “Just when we believed that with Cobra Verde we reached a point of no return, our songwriting turned even more dark and monumental. Although we’ll never consider ourselves close to Lucyfyre, Adversarial, Deathspell Omega, and Akhlys, the influence of this new wave of obscure Metal on us these last years has been massive. The result is our most epic Death Metal effort ever conceived. ”

Melodic Death Metal outfit Ritual of Odds from Greece have signed a worldwide deal with Swimming With Sharks Records. The band’s third studio album ‘Ritual of 9’ was recorded at StudiOdds Recording Studio and was mixed & mastered by John Mcris. The band takes influences from bands such as At The Gates, In Flames, and Carcass and have been called the ‘Melodic Death Metal Masters of Greece’ by Axis of Metal (Canada).

Label founder Noah “Shark” Robertson (Motograter/Ex-The Browning) states: “Patras, Greece… What a great find! The moment I heard “Ritual of 9” I knew this band was something special. They give me the same feeling I got the first time I listened to At The Gates or In Flames. They have all the elements of a melodic death metal powerhouse!”

Ritual of Odds formed in 2003, originally under the moniker Existence Edge, but changed the name in 2005 and began work on their ‘Building up the Underverse’ Demo. In 2008, the band played this material live on stage for the first time and received great reviews, encouraging them to begin working on their debut full length album ‘Underverse’; which was released in early 2010. At the end of that same year, the band recorded their 2nd full length album ‘God is an Atheist’, which was very well received. The band toured Europe and the US, in support of the release, performing with bands such as OMEN (USA), PAUL DI’ANNO (UK), SEPTIC FLESH (GR) and NIGHTRAGE (SW).

The band is often described as Melodic Death Metal, but many influences can be heard. Ritual of Odds have forged a unique sound by infusing elements of thrash, horror and epic metal into their own, creative brand of melodic death.

Vader & Immolation will now be co-headlining Bristol Deathfest on Saturday night whilst Hour of Penance and Defeated Sanity will co-headline Sunday night of the festival.

After releasing their eleventh brand new studio album The Empire through Nuclear Blast (on 4th November 2016) Vader confirm they will be co-headlining the first night of Bristol Deathfest alongside American titans, Immolation. Original Saturday headliners, Defeated Sanity will now co-headline Sunday night together with Hour of Penance. British lads, Ancient Ascendant have also been added and Dutch Abrupt Demise will make their first ever UK appearance at Bristol Deathfest.

The latest additions have secured Bristol Deathfest as one of the must attend events for any fan of death metal in the UK next year. Almost every band performing has released a new album in 2016 or will have new releases ready in 2017. Bristol Deathfest is the only place to see Hour of Penance, Defeated Sanity, Nader Sadek, Kraanium, Cytotoxin, Epicardiectomy, and Abrupt Demise in the UK next year.

Defeated Sanity will be performing the Disposal of the Dead EP in it’s entirety before Hour of Penance perform songs from their upcoming album Cast the First Stone and close the festival. Three years may have passed since Unending Degradation, but KRYPTS have lost none of their excruciating power that made their debut album such a special one, erecting a bridge in between their homeland glorious and down-tuned early 90’s glory and something even more sinister and doom-laden.

And the arrival in 2015 of Jukka Aho from GOREPHILIA on second guitar has done nothing to alter that rare chemistry, on the contrary…

Just like its predecessor, Remnants of Expansion reeks of that ancient feeling but dives even deeper into the abyss. Clocking altogether at 33 minutes, there’s something very majestic and solemn about its five songs.

Like a serpent circling its prey, the Finns like to play shadow and it’s never truer than on the album’s opener, the monstrous 10 minute “Arrow of Entropy.” But its follow-up, “The Withering Titan,” for instance starts off with Mongol throat chanting, two minutes later the listener is buried under a deluge of blast beats, only to let the instrumental title-track drown you in the cold and bottomless waters of funeral doom.

Once again adorned with Timo Ketola cryptic artwork, Remnants of Expansion is like a big haunted house at a top of a dead trees infested hill on the outskirts of town by a moonless night. Grand in scope, seemingly devoid of any human touch and yet towering over us like a malevolent entity. Behold. – written by Olivier Zoltar Badin
