BONE GNAWER – To release “Cannibal Crematorium” On July 10th via Pulverised Records

Horror N’ Gore connoisseurs BONE GNAWER returns to apex form with the band’s much-anticipated sophomore full-length record Cannibal Crematorium! The album will be released July 10 on Pulverised Records. The album will be available on CD and limited edition gatefold vinyl, both of which can be pre-ordered at this location.

Once again led by Death Metal legend Kam Lee (ex-MASSACRE, ex-MANTAS, etc) and with the prior emphasis on composing (dead) catchy riffs that plant the hooks in deep, the music of Cannibal Crematorium is impossible to dislodge from memory. Swedish Death Metal Legends WOMBBATH – Releasing First Album In Two Decades On August 21st, via Dark Descent/Pulverised

Old School Swedish Death Metal legends WOMBBATH will release Downfall Rising, their first album in 22 years. The album will be released jointly in North America on Dark Descent and Pulverised August 21. Pulverised will release the album in all other territories on August 7. Downfall Rising follows the 1993 classic: Internal Caustic Torments.

Downfall Rising was mixed by Jeramie Kling and mastered by James Murphy (Disincarnate, ex-Death, ex-Testament, ex-Obituary, etc). The revamped WOMBBATH lineup is anchored by sole remaining member/guitarist Håkan Stuvemark (Skineater) and also includes vocalist/bassist Jonny Petterson (Ashcloud, Syn:drom), guitarist Al Riglin and drummer Henrik Åberg. Drumming on the album itself was performed by Infernaeon/The Absence member Jeramie Kling. Taylor Nordbert (Infernaeon) guested on guitar as well.

BIO:

Having been around since 1990, Wombbath was without a doubt part of the legendary Swedish Death Metal scene that came to influence bands from around the world, and still is to this day. After a few releases including the classic full length Internal Caustic Torments, they disbanded. After years of playing in different bands (In thy dreams, Skineater etc.) original member Håkan felt the urge to play buzz saw driven Death Metal, the way it was done back in the day, again. When Håkan re-animated Wombbath, the thought was to record a new album with the use of old friends and musicians he knew would be able to channel his vision of what Wombbath is and to keep it purely as a studio project.

Along the journey Håkan picked up Jonny as a full-time member and the duo realized that this album was becoming something too big to keep as a studio project. So a search for a full line-up began. After a few hit and misses he finally found the right people to join him and take this rumbling Death Metal monster to its fullest potential. Wombbath has been around since 1990 and this is where the real journey begins!

DEHUMAN – To Tour Europe With VITAL REMAINS In July

PSYCHOMANCER “Inject The Worms” – A Metal Odyssey Album Review

PSYCHOMANCER have released their new studio album, Inject The Worms, back on April 7th, 2015, via Orchestrated Misery Recordings. Proving that the Midwest is and (hopefully) forever will be a nurturing habitat for underground Death Metal, Psychomancer have unleashed 6 songs of terror that I have embraced, within my Metal world, like a long-lost and cuddly goat. I don’t know where my dependency to Death Metal came from; perhaps it is due to my lifetime infatuation with monsters Or maybe due to my 8 years of Parochial schooling back during the 70’s? All the same, I am a content fan of Death Metal, due to the overwhelming choices of bands and albums that are out in the world today.

Inject The Worms is my first introduction to Psychomancer; this band originally formed around 1998. What always catches my eye first, when shopping around for Death Metal are the album cover’s artwork. The more grotesque the Death Metal cover art doesn’t always equate to the best music heard within, in my Metal opinion. The cover art for Inject The Worms (see above) is both old-school and morbidly fun for my taste; it’s not insanely gut spilling nor repulsive. The less is more mantra for cover art kicks right in here, folks. Thus, I really dig this album cover art.

The 2015 band lineup for Psychomancer are: founding member Duston Bullard on bass and vocal duties, with new members Corey Blackstad on drums and guitarist Curt Hutchison on rhythm and lead guitars. Every delicious sonic nuance in which die-hard Death Metal fans look for is readily heard on Inject The Worms. Quaking bass, blast beats, earth shattering double bass and sadistic growling vocals; with plenty of psycho speed-driven guitar and rhythmic magic. Doom infested riffing and sludgy bass chugging is featured on this album as well. The acoustic guitar intro and haunting chants on Abhorrent Wings Of Decay are both a surprise and successful musical elements; too often Death Metal bands can become too predictable. I love it when a Death Metal band can add that something extra to an album.

I honestly believe every fan of Six Feet Under, Obituary, Suffocation and Cannibal Corpse will be licking their chops while listening to this Psychomancer album. Hell, I sure did. What does licking your chops mean anyways? Onward we go. There are melodic Death Metal moments to hear on this album too, with the intro to the title track being a very good candidate to point out. Inject The Worms has proven to be a winner for my Death Metal tastes and it’s all about these 6 songs not sounding alike. I can not say enough about the hell-raising vocals of Duston Bullard and with the overall musicianship from Psychomancer. Inject The Worms is an album I very highly recommend to all my Death Metal brethren. Metal be thy name. – Stone

DEIVOS “Theodicy” – A Metal Odyssey Album Review

On February 15th, 2015, Poland’s DEIVOS released their fourth studio album of Death Metal savagery, via Selfmadegod Records. The album is Theodicy and it’s 6 songs that are damn decent to listen to. Guttural vocals, heavy-duty grooves and melodic guitars (yes, melodic) are showcased in a very big way by DEIVOS; with also an impressive nod to some splendid Speed Metal on the axes too.

The drumming and percussions are so good to listen to that it’s downright supernatural. I have the drummer’s name as Wizun and he is a sonic blast of fireworks behind the kit! This is drumming that sets DEIVOS apart from many other Death Metal bands, with fills aplenty and entertaining as hell. Please note, I’m not talking about copious noise and drumming that is so fast you cannot follow the beats.

Vocalist Hubert is a monster treat to listen to and an obvious student of old-school Death Metal. Each song has its own identity; no song on this album falls victim to its own chaos or redundancy, there is songwriting of substance here on Theodicy, my Metal brethren! Originating back in 1997, with lineup changes along the way, DEIVOS has impressively planted themselves within the tier of Death Metal bands that are to be taken serious; for both perseverance and talent, in my Metal opinion. In other Metal words, DEIVOS is no overnight sensation of a Death Metal band.

Overall, this is a very, very strong release from DEIVOS, from beginning to end. DEIVOS truly has kicked my Death Metal loving ass with this album. The album cover artwork is a work of Metal beauty; this is the stuff I want to visually take in. Death Metal and Black Metal fans should be on the lookout for this DEIVOS album. Support DEIVOS and buy Theodicy. Metal be thy name. – Stone

Three years after unleashing their acclaimed self-titled album, Cryptopsy will release a series of EPs entitled The Book of Suffering. This approach will allow the band to put out new music more often while remaining true to their standards of quality.

After being on a record label for their entire career, Cryptopsy decided to go independent in 2012. Supported by their fans, Cryptopsy distributed and sold thousands of albums across the globe and had the opportunity to tour Japan, Western and Eastern Europe, the UK, South America, Scandinavia and Canada. They are now embarking on a crowd funding campaign that will allow them to give their fans more in terms of videos and enhanced live show production.

Cryptopsy’s crowdfunding campaign is open with exclusive t-shirts, girly tank tops, hoodies, CDs and vinyls. In addition to the more traditional merchandise, they are offering signed Flo Mounier cymbals, online lessons with each band member, guest performances and a song mix by their guitarist and sound engineer Chris Donaldson.

For those who are interested in memorabilia, they are offering stage banners that have been used since 2012. Cryptopsy’s $20,000 goal will fund the recording, mixing and mastering of The Book of Suffering Tome 1, as well as produce artwork, a music video and stage banners. Additional rewards such as a play-through video, a tour documentary and more music will be unlocked for all backers if they surpass their goal.

Cryptopsy have stated: “We hope that every extreme metal fan will be exposed to The Book of Suffering Tome 1. We are extremely proud of the material; it is some of the most brutal, technical and fresh music we have ever created.”

UNBREAKABLE HATRED – Canadian Death Metal Trio Joins Unique Leader Records For Multi-Album Deal

Quebec City-based death metal trio, UNBREAKABLE HATRED, recently joined the expanding roster of extreme metal powerhouse, Unique Leader Records.

Forged in 2008 by guitarist Philippe Drouin, his drummer brother Dominic and vocalist/bassist Simon B. Lapointe, UNBREAKABLE HATRED spews forth a mutinous amalgam of old school death metal brutality, modern technical wizardry and blistering groove making for relentlessly visceral sound expedition. The band released their debut full-length, Total Chaos, in 2011 via Galy/Lacerated Enemy Records. ICHOR \ˈī-ˌkȯr, -kər\ Definition: 1: an ethereal fluid taking the place of blood in the veins of the ancient Greek gods ICHOR started their crusade in 2008. After they have released a demo tape on their own the band released their first full-length album The Siege in 2009. INCANTATION – Iconic Death Metal Legion Continues To Brutalize The Masses On The Ongoing Dirges Of Elysium Tour

Iconic Death Metal legion, INCANTATION, will continue to raze stages throughout North America in support of their Dirges Of Elysium full-length. The latest bout of live assaults will begin on April 17th in Hempstead, New York at El Relax Lounge. The following day, INCANTATION will head to Worcester, Massachusetts to play this year’s edition of the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival at the Palladium. From there, the band will bring their audio malevolence to stages in Pittsburgh, Brooklyn, Syracuse and Buffalo. The onstage abrasions continue the following month when INCANTATION ravages their way through seven more cities before bringing their brutality to the Maryland Death Fest Pre-Party on May 20th in Baltimore.

In June, INCANTATION will summon the dead at the Farmageddon Festival FOA in Vancouver and in August the band will take part in the Wolves Of Apocalypse Festival in Denver. The band’s latest bout of onstage obliteration follows their recent West Coast takeover and first ever performance in Hawaii this Winter with additional 2015 live devourement in the conspiring stages.

INCANTATION released Dirges Of Elysium last year via Listenable Records. Crowned, “one of the most influential death metal bands of all time,” by Metal Injection, who further elaborated of the record, “With all the evil-sounding riffs, squealing pinch-harmonics and crushing dirges scattered throughout, this is the sound that made INCANTATION legends. This is some profoundly dark and creepy stuff,” the record continues to raise the brows of death metallers old and new. KRONOS – French Brutal Death Metal Veterans Join Unique Leader Records For The Release Of Their Fourth Full-Length This Summer

A name derived from the Greek god of time, Cronos, father of Zeus, KRONOS was forged over fifteen years ago and quickly established a name for themselves based solely on their musical unity of harmony and violence. Featuring a continuous textual reference to the gods of ancient civilizations, KRONOS punctures ears with a heightened level of dynamics accomplished by only by a select number of bands.

It all began in a small town in the Northeastern province of Alsace-Lorraine. Following various lineup shifts and musical experimentation, the pandemonium squad recorded their first demo in 2000. One year later, KRONOS would unleash their Titan’s Awakening debut. Produced entirely by the band, the lethal creation lead to a union with French imprint Warpath Records (formerly known as Shockwave). By the end of 2001, Titan’s Awakening was expelled once again into the world, this time with a brand new cover designed by Deather (Gurkkhas, Vital Remains, Angel Corpse) as well as a visually disquieting booklet.

KRONOS later joined forces with Spanish label Xtreem Music run by Avulsed’s Dave Rotten, for the unleashing of their next two full-lengths. Second offering, Colossal Titan Strife was discharged in 2004 to the applause of underground critics in the proverbial know. Metal Crypt commended the band’s, “diversified guitar work… intricate drum patterns… wicked guitar solos and.. good number of catchy yet non-compromising hooks,” further insisting, “This French outfit is definitely worth checking out,” while Sputnik Music championed, “an impressive album that shows off the capabilities of death metal done right. KRONOS managed to pack a metric ton of creativity into each song and you will barely hear the same riff twice.”

Added Last Rites simply, “worth your time if you… need some solid, well-produced death metal.” Third offspring, The Hellenic Terror, emerged in April 2007 and served as an attestation of the band’s enormous capacity for skilled execution and originality. Said Metal Crypt in a near perfect review of the release, “The Hellenic Terror contains more melodic sections than Colossal Titan Strife, but still possesses almost as much brutality…. Abhorrent Decimation – A Marriage Of Music & Art

UK Death Metal outfit Abhorrent Decimation are pleased to announce they’ll be teaming up with a group of sculptors for an innovative new music video.

In the build up to their hugely anticipated debut full length album, the London-based wrecking crew have teamed up with the Head of Foundations (David Tinn) and two highly skilled artists (Jonny Cavaciuti & Olivia Davis) at East Surrey College, to commission the creation of a series of sculptures to be used in the bands next music video. The album, as of yet untitled, is slated for release later this year and is in the final stages of mixing and mastering under the scrutiny of renown producer Ronnie Björnström, Enhanced Audio Productions (Garageland Studios, Sweden). The wait will soon be over.

Whilst Abhorrent Decimation prepare for their upcoming UK tour with French Death Metal heavyweights, Benighted and Scotland’s Cancerous Womb, vocalist Ashley Scott gives us an overview of the project as he oversees the sculpture commission beginning to take form:

“We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have pulled this off… I had such big ideas for the first official music video that we would be putting out with this album. I can’t go into great detail of the concept behind it all yet but I wanted the band mutated and frozen in ice BUT I didn’t want it done using CGI. Turns out, that was a bit of an ambitious ask. I then thought about doing the whole band as a set of sculptures and freezing those. So I contacted my old friend and mentor David about the possibility of collaborating with his foundation students at the college and the rest is history. He asked that I create a brief for the project and since then the artists have just run with it. We took the first sample casts of my head a few weeks back and we are really happy with the results. Next, the whole band will be in to have moulds taken of their heads. From there, the artists will then need a little time to work on these objects before we can have them frozen and then begin shooting the vid. I really wanted to bring one song in particular to life, having these sculptures frozen in ice will do exactly that and it’s something a little different, this is an interesting marriage of music and art. You don’t see that much. And once the album is released I would love to exhibit these pieces in London.”

The five members of the band bring you real, powerful and straight Metal and also live, you can feel and see the brute force of HALO CREATION.

It began in a small rehearsal room in the middle of Vienna. Since the very beginning, they rehearse regularly and so the first songs accrued. In the Summer of 2014, a Demo CD with four songs on it was recorded. In September, HALO CREATION played their first live show, together with ILLDISPOSED.

Since this show, they play live regularly and already shared the stage with GRAVEWORM and JINJER. These days they are busy with songwriting for their first album and this Summer of 2015 they will enter the studio. The release of the full-length is scheduled for Autumn.

For HALO CREATION, it is important to produce elaborated and very powerful music. When they`re playing live, the crowd should go crazy and while listening to their songs any kind of emotions should arise.

The music should be real Death Metal, which means, there will be no clean vocals nor Nu Metal parts in it. Moreover, outstanding chorus lines are important. Further, excesses in speed or changes in rhythm should be a big part of their music.

NEPENTE – Title Track From ‘I Will Get Your Soul’ Exclusive Stream

Colombian Blackened Death Metallers NEPENTE have partnered with The Independent Voice for the exclusive stream of the title track from upcoming EP I Will Get Your Soul. Stream it right here.

I Will Get Your Soul, which will be released March 31 on Cimmerian Shade Recordings. And this time the temperature surpasses face-melting levels! I Will Get Your Soul follows sophomore full-length Suffering is the Seed (MetalHit 2012/Sonic Blast Media 2013), an album The RingMaster Review called “a savage and sonically scurrilous violation, a torment of corrosive intensity and unbridled devastation” and Teeth of the Divine described as “one hell of a vicious cyclone.”

I Will Get Your Soul was recorded at Manizales Studio (Manizales Colombia), and mixed/mastered at Hertz Recording Studio (Bialystock, Poland) by Slawomir Wieslawski and Wojciech Wieslawski.
