JERRY CANTRELL ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN I WANT BLOOD TOUR

Oct. 15, 2024, LOS ANGELES – Jerry Cantrell’s new album, I Want Blood, arrives this Friday, and to celebrate its arrival the iconic musician has announced a North American tour of the same name.

The trek kicks off on Jan. 31 in Niagara Falls and makes its way across the country, concluding in Cantrell’s home state of Washington.

Tickets go on-sale this Friday at 10 a.m. local time with an exclusive artist pre-sale starting Wednesday at 10 a.m. For ticket information, visit jerrycantrell.com/tour. Filter supports on all dates.

“[This album] packs a punch and it hits you in the face,” Cantrell shared in a recent interview with Loudwire adding, “I couldn’t think of a more impactful title than I Want Blood.”

Ahead of the album’s release, Cantrell has been featured on the cover of Revolver, participated in a career-spanning conversation with Rick Beato, and has received widespread praise album for the collection’s heavier sound. Metal Hammer described I Want Blood as having an “iconic sound, sludgy guitars and soulful vocals.”

I Want Blood was recorded at Joe Barresi’s JHOC Studio in Pasadena, Calif., and features contributions from Duff McKagan (Guns N’Roses), Mike Bordin (Faith No More), Robert Trujillo (Metallica), Greg Puciato (Better Lovers, ex-Dillinger Escape Plan), Gil Sharone (Team Sleep, Stolen Babies), and Lola Colette.

Ricky Warwick has announced the release of his new solo album Blood Ties, which will be out on March 14th via Earache Records. You can pre-order the album here.

To coincide with the announcement, Ricky Warwick will release his new single ‘Don’t Leave Me In The Dark’ which sees legendary The Runaways guitarist & famed solo artist Lita Ford joining on vocals duties.

About the single, Ricky comments, “This was the first song written for the album and details the intricacies of love and the battles we fight to stay in it. When you put everything into a relationship and the significant other doesn’t reciprocate, there’s always a huge mental toll, a price to pay on commitment.”

About the duet Rickycontinues, “Lita Ford is a true hardcore rocker, she’s the real deal in every way. The attitude, energy and professionalism she brought to the video shoot was inspiring on every level…She also brought her famous original Hamer Guitar that dates way back to her time in The Runaways. When I wrote the lyrics for ‘Don’t Leave Me In The Dark’ I knew right away the song needed to be performed as a duet. Lita instantly sprang to mind. I’m honoured that she agreed to be a part of it. She absolutely nailed it sonically and visually as I knew she would.”

Lita Ford adds, “When I first got the call to record a duet with Ricky Warwick my first thought was about the legacy that this man carries. From our beloved early Thin Lizzy days up to today, Ricky carries that torch. An era that is close to my soul. Ricky’s image and voice is as dark and mysterious as his black leather and black Les Paul, but at the same time, a super cool and mega-talented artist. When I heard the song ‘Don’t Leave Me In The Dark’ I felt that it would be a killer duet because our vocal styles and images would complement each other. I really enjoyed working with someone who is so talented, down to earth, and has real grit and determination!”

Ricky dug deep for Blood Ties and by doing so has made this one of his most personal records yet. Big cathartic guitar sounds and life-affirming, often joyous assessments of where he is in life right now have made it a standout body of work in a career that has spanned over four decades at the coalface of rock’n’roll.

“I mined a deep seam to make this record, it’s in the darkest, most uncharted of places where the real energy is to be found.” Ricky notes. “There comes a time in everyone’s life when the game is afoot, and the decision is taken to face down and exorcise personal demons. The situation finally seemed right to deal with these and try to express my feelings, fears and anxieties in as uplifting a way as possible, turning negativity into positivity. To do that I had to make sure the guitars were turned up way beyond driven.”

As a solo artist and an esteemed singer/songwriter in his own right, Ricky Warwick has also collaborated with some of the finest musicians on the planet and with Blood Ties, has enlisted some notable guests including the aforementioned Lita Ford, Billy Duffy (The Cult) and Charlie Starr (Blackberry Smoke).

The album was produced by Ricky’s friend and creative compadre Mr Keith Nelson (Buckcherry). The cover of the Blood Ties was also designed and drawn by Ricky’s stepdaughter Zoe Hinton.

Ricky Warwick remains undoubtedly one of the hardest working men in rock’n’roll and his creativity continues to roar with Blood Ties being as much a celebration of his stellar songwriting as it is his ethos towards doing the best he can for himself and for the fans. 

“If people can connect with this album, musically, lyrically, its artwork, or better still all three then that is all I can really ask and hope for. If it means as much to someone else as it does to me then I feel my work is done.”

“The band enlisted the services of Lonny Paul Johnson to create the animated piece. “We felt an animated video captured the whole theme of the song and something I always wanted to do and this was the perfect fit,” states POA main man Lesli Sanders.

Superhero” is the first single and video from the forthcoming, PROPHETS OF ADDICTION album, Face the Music, which the band tracked with longtime producer Phil Soussan (bassist for Ozzy Osbourne, Beggars and Thieves, Billy Idol, Vince Neil, Rod Stewart and others) at Blue Cat Studios in Las Vegas, NV.

PROPHETS OF ADDICTION’s fourth album sees Sanders and company (guitarists G.G Sleaze, Tchad Drats, Terry Bratsch and drummer Wayne “The Stoke” Stokley going back towards the glam, punk and roots the band is most closely associated with. “I’ve always wanted to do a dark powerful acoustic record with a message and I think we achieved that with our last record. And now with a very strong lineup that is ready to move forward it’s time to get back to rocking,” remarks Sanders.

The “Superhero” single / video is the first release in the band’s new relationship with Bravewords Records. “When searching for a home for the new release we wanted a place that ‘gets it’ and we felt Giles and Bravewords was the best fit for this album that we’ve put so much time and effort into creating,” says Lesli.

While the general public may know PROPHETS OF ADDICTION mainman Lesli Sanders as a lifetime rocker, dating back to the mid 80s and his underground success with bands such as Talks Cheap and Queeny Blast Pop, he’s had a passion for BMX racing even longer than that. Sanders reflects on that passion for BMX bikes “My passion for BMX began in the 1980s, where I quickly found success as a young racer, earning a #2 district plate before shifting my focus to a successful music career. After stepping away from music to care for my ailing stepfather and mother, I turned back to BMX racing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite initial injuries, my determination led me to collect numerous accolades, including Gold Cup Plates, State Plates, and a district #1 plate. Now, I rank in the National Age Group top 10 for both the 56-60 cruiser class and 56+ expert category, thriving once again in the sport I loved as a teenager.”

BONE DAGGER’s project leader John Lund comments on the focus of the single: 

“I took the first person approach because EVERYONE has Narcissistic tendencies and traits. I like holding up the mirror to others and hopefully some introspection results from listening. Additionally, if I point the finger at myself – who can accuse me of projection?”

About BONE DAGGER: 
BONE DAGGER was founded in 2020 by John Lund during the pandemic following a 7-year hiatus from any sort of musical output. BONE DAGGER was devised with the intention of keeping as much in-house as possible with the exception of post-production. Around a year later Braden Richey joined the fold as the lead guitarist and contributed to the EP, The Veil, before taking a perpetual leave of absence in late 2022. John is pushing on as a solo act until the right members are found. Musically the band draws influence from a wide array of rock and metal acts including GOJIRA, MUSE, SLIPKNOT, and ALICE IN CHAINS.

July 26, 2024, LOS ANGELES – Jerry Cantrell, one of rock music’s most distinctive musicians, returns with I Want Blood, an album brimming with Cantrell’s signature vocals and guitar-driven melodies, on Oct. 18 via Double J Music.

“This record is a serious piece of work. It’s a motherfucker,” Cantrell says of the infectious collection. “It’s hard, no doubt, and completely unlike Brighten. And that’s what you want, to end up in a different place. There’s a confidence to this album. I think it’s some of my best songwriting and playing, and certainly some of my best singing.”

I Want Blood, co-produced by Cantrell and Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, Melvins), was recorded at Barresi’s JHOC Studio in Pasadena, Calif. BUDDERSIDE White Flame – Album Review by Tanis Enos

Budderside released their newest album, White Flame, on July 10th 2024. The minute the album dropped fans immediately shared their love on social media, calling it “top notch” and stating it left them speechless. 

White Flame as an album has a wonderful variety of intensities throughout the songs. “Ghostlighting” and “Good For Nothing” are perfect examples of their fast paced, in your face, kick down a door energy, while songs like “Joker” and the title track slow it down, still holding onto the power that Budderside keep consistent throughout the whole album. 

Lyrically, Budderside goes hard. It’s poetry and it’s relatable. There is no getting past how deep down they go to write these songs. They don’t just write what comes to mind, they draw from experiences and their own feelings. “The Truth” and “Too Far” are prime examples of them working in emotions that might otherwise be overlooked. Lyrics like “Can’t trust myself to be alone, no telling what I’ll do” from “The Truth” and “You feel disconnected, I tell you I’ve been there” from “Too Far” hit on such a relatable topic that’s it’s almost relieving to know that you’re not alone in feeling this way. They might have written from a place of darkness but it will soothe people just like music is supposed to. 

Lead singer Patrick Stone has such a unique voice. It not only amplifies the meaning and emotional strength of the lyrics, but his wide vocal range pairs perfectly with any speed or forcefulness of the 2 guitar geniuses behind Budderside, Sam Koltun and Logan Nikolic. Koltun stated in an interview with Guitar World that writing songs like “Good for Nothing” “capture my intensity.” The two power house guitarists work together to finish off the full weight of the song. 

Overall, Budderside hit it out of the park (and then some) with this new album. Even as this is written fans continue to praise their work. It’s not gonna be long before fans start begging for a tour to hear these masterpieces live. – Tanis Enos

STRYPER – Announces New Single “End Of Days” And 40th Anniversary Tour Dates

Legendary, long-running metal band STRYPER are setting the stage for a great year with a new single entitled “End of Days.” Accompanied by a new lyric video, the track also helps announce the band’s 40th Anniversary Tour dates which begin this fall. After an appearance at the Alive Music Festival in July, tour dates kick off September 11th in Greenville, TN, and conclude November 16th in North Myrtle Beach, SC. A full list of dates is below.

About the new track, the band shared this:

“’End of Days‘ is a heavy track musically and lyrically. It has a classic sound with a few modern twists and turns along the way. CATEGORY 7 – Metal Supergroup Fronted By John Bush Have Joined Metal Blade Records Roster

Metal Blade Records is pleased to welcome CATEGORY 7, the new band featuring vocalist John Bush, guitarists Phil Demmel and Mike Orlando, bassist Jack Gibson and drummer Jason Bittner, to its legendary roster! 

With veteran musicians from such legendary acts as Anthrax, Armored Saint, Adrenaline Mob, Machine Head, Overkill, Exodus, and Shadows Fall, it’s hard not to think of CATEGORY 7 as a supergroup. The origins of the band began with discussions between Demmel and Orlando of their mutual desire to form a twin lead guitar hard rock unit harkening back to bands of the ‘70s such as Thin Lizzy. Bittner was next to join the conversation followed by Gibson. After composing some early music, it was obvious that the only vocalist that would fit the concept would be Bush. 

Notes Bush, “Mike Orlando’s and Phil Demmel’s awesome riffs made writing lyrics over the music a piece of cake. The rhythm tandem of Bittner and Gibson rounded out the sound and the connection felt like it was put together in the stars. Obviously, everyone being a veteran of the metal scene made it that much easier.”

Based on Demmel’s and Bush’s long-term relationships with Metal Blade Records, it seemed to be the perfect home for the band. The label agreed and a union was quickly forged. 

Comments Metal Blade Records’ founder Brian Slagel of the signing, “Happy to welcome CATEGORY 7 into the Metal Blade family. Of course, some of them are already in! Seriously love working with this crew and it’s great stuff!”

As crushing and confrontational as an armed rebellion and as fiercely melodic as infectious riffs and aggressive vocals can be, CATEGORY 7 is a new breed of hard rock  that lives up to the storied histories of its members. CATEGORY 7’s debut will see release this Summer with their first single to be unveiled on May 2nd. Rat Pak Records Set to release Hall Aflame “Amplifire” Featuring Kurdt Vanderhoof

Hall Aflame, the rock band which features Metal Church founding guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof, will release their long-awaited sophomore album “Amplifire” on May 3, 2024 via Rat Pak Records. Originally formed in 1989, the band garnered commercial success with their debut album “Guaranteed Forever”, which was well received by fans and industry peers alike and quickly found themselves opening for ZZ Top on their 1991 “Recycler” tour for a number of dates. As with many bands from that era, facing a decline in interest for AOR rock due to the onslaught of the “grunge” scene, the band went on a lengthy hiatus and reunited again in late 2023 to begin working on a handful of songs. 

Amplifier offers 12 new studio tracks and reunites Kurdt with original bassist Brian Smith, along with drummer Bill Raymond and front-man Scott Nutter. Regarding the album, Kurdt Vanderhoof comments, “This album came about as a project to document all the songs that we had written for the second album that never came to be. We revisited the songs and realized they had to be recorded properly. Then it blossomed into something much better than we had even hoped! So that led us into reforming the band instead of just having it be a project.”

Bassist Brian Smith adds, “I think anyone that is a fan of “Guaranteed Forever” will see this record as a new and improved “Part II” of Hall Aflame. Legendary UK Metal Titans ORANGE GOBLIN Announce New Album ‘Science, Not Fiction’ | Out July 19th On Peaceville Records

Legendary UK metal giants Orange Goblin are back with details of their long awaited new studio album Science, Not Fiction. Set for release on July 19th, Science, Not Fiction will be the band’s first release on the iconic Peaceville label (Darkthrone, Autopsy, Candlemass).

Speaking on the track, frontman and lyricist Ben Ward says “It’s basically saying that life can be pretty simple and straightforward if you just stop wasting your time and make each day count. Be prepared to work hard, don’t expect any hand outs and basically enjoy yourself along the way. When Chris came up with the music he said it needed something that could be delivered in a Bon Scott / Lemmy style and I think it came out really well”.

Science, Not Fiction was recorded at Woodworm Studios UK in late 2023, with production and mixing duties carried out by Grammy winning producer Mike Exeter (most notable for his work with Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Tony Iommi) and mastering conducted by the esteemed Peter Hewitt-Dutton at The Bakery in LA.

From the explosive death-boogie of opener “The Fire At The Centre Of The Earth Is Mine” onwards, the band’s tenth album crackles with energy and belligerence. Following the departure of long serving bassist Martyn Millard in 2020, Orange Goblin welcomed close friend Harry Armstrong (formerly Hangnail) into the fray, making Science, Not Fiction his first studio outing with the band.

With the new line-up fizzing with chemistry, the hard rocking likes of “(Not) Rocket Science”, “The Fury Of A Patient Man” and “The Justice Knife” breathe new life into some classic Orange Goblin tropes. Meanwhile, twisted prog-doom detours like “False Hope Diet” and “Cemetary Rats” take the Londoners into epic new territory, with everything from skull-shattering punk ‘n’ roll to transcendent space rock hurled into the swirling brew.

“It is a continuation of what we’ve been doing, and that’s because when we write, it’s a big mixing bowl of all of our influences and favourite artists, and we try and create the perfect band that we always wanted to hear,” Ben states. “This album, it’s just more accomplished and mature, I guess. None of us are spring chickens anymore and we’ve got ten albums under our belts now. I feel like we’re more professional in the recording studio, I feel like we’re better musicians and writers, and now with me looking after myself, I feel like my performance is better as well. It’s all moving in the right direction.”
