Reunited East Coast band delivers fresh sounds, combining old school rock, glam metal and melodic vocals to fans across multiple genres!

YORK, Penn./PRNewswire/ — The Glam Metal Rock Band Scarlett Gypsy has garnered the attention of fans and critics alike with the unveiling of their eagerly awaited debut album – All Access – available now on Amazon, iTunes, CDbaby and Bandcamp.

The bevy of sub-genres associated with glam metal and hard rock have often given birth to one-off bands and songs, but rarely is there an entire band assembled with the primary purpose of getting in a room together to watch what happens when their respective creative juices blend into an album like All Access. Well, Scarlett Gypsy is one band that delivers it straight with the volume cranked up high.

Scarlett Gypsy was an up & coming rock band in 1991-1992 when the industry changed and left them behind. Beginning in 1991 as a highly admired Glam Metal Hard Rock Band, Scarlett Gypsy began taking on America as they journeyed the turbulent east coast early 90s rock scene in the Philadelphia/South Jersey area, focusing on clubs like The Empire & The Galaxy that launched the careers of bands like Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Britney Fox, Heavens Edge and Tangier along with hometown hotspot The Tourist Inn that launch bands like Halestorm and Kix.

Fast-forward 20 years – the band reunites and immediately took Google+, Twitter and the rest of the Internet by storm. Longing for their music to finally be heard, Scarlett Gypsy put a few songs to some of their concert footage and posted it on YouTube and within a few weeks had over 100,000 views on their Google+ page with fans requesting where they could buy the music. As all things that fade away seem to become fresh again someday, the band decided to independently release their first studio album internationally now available on Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, CDbaby and Bandcamp.

Scarlett Gypsy is an American Rock Band originating from York, Pennsylvania, with David Mathew on Lead Vocals, Steve Plonk on Guitar & Vocals, Robert Douglas on Bass and Scotty Scarlett on Drums & Vocals. Together these four combined create a great new refreshing sound of old school rock complete with blazing guitar riffs, melodic vocals and infectious hooks.

The debut album delivers old school rock, ballads and wild party rock’n choruses for all new glam metal heads and rockers alike to enjoy. Boldly combining elements of raw rock with glam fueled gritty guitar riffs, melodic vocals and all-around high-octane music, this Gypsy Band is determined to please every fan’s need to rock-out on hot summer nights to catchy hooks, fist-pumping party-rock choruses and rhythmically loose powerful rock music.

On October 17th, 1970Free peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with All Right Now. This song was to be their only single to reach the U.S. top 40. The Free band lineup included: Paul Rodgers on vocals, Paul Kossoff on guitar, Andy Fraser on bass/piano and Simon Kirke on drums.

This spectacular KISS album spawned 3 major hit songs: Rise To It, Hide Your Heart and the power ballad Forever, with each respective song having its own hit music video on the MTV rotation. Hot In The Shade is the 15th studio album release, within the KISS discography.

Sadly, this was the last KISS studio album to feature the great Eric Carr on drums. Eric Carr passed away from cancer in 1991, at the very young age of 41. On Hot In The Shade, Eric Carr sang lead vocals on the song Little Caesar. The only other song Eric Carr sang lead vocals for, while with KISS, was the remake of the classic: Beth, which is featured on 1988’s Thrashes, Smashes & HitsBruce Kulick was the lead guitarist, with legends Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons rounding out the band lineup.

This hit single is featured on the second studio album from Firehouse, released in 1992: Hold Your Fire. Regardless that Grunge was the fashion genre of this era, Firehouse proved that a Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band could still sell millions of albums in the early 90’s.

ACDC - Back In Black - promo album cover pic - #1980

On October 13th, 1980 AC/DC’s Back In Black is certified platinum by the RIAA. This was the first AC/DC album to feature Brian Johnson on vocals, replacing the late Bon Scott. If you don’t own Back In Black, then hold your head down in shame.

KIss - Creatures Of The Night - promo album cover pic - #7740

On this day in 1982KISS releases their comeback studio album: Creatures Of The Night. This would be the last KISS album on the Casablanca Records label. I highly recommend this KISS album, their heaviest and finest album from the 80’s decade, in my Metal opinion. Vinnie Vincent plays guitar on this album instead of Ace Frehley. Still, to me, Space Ace looks really cool on this album cover.

Baroness - Blue Record - promo album pic - 2009 - #9902

On October 13th, 2009Blue Record, the second studio album from Baroness is released, via Relapse Records. This album is SOLID from beginning to end, in my Metal opinion. Call me bias, yet Baroness ROCKS.

LONEWOLF – Added To Massacre Records Family!

Posted in Heavy Metal, metal music, Music, music news, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on July 19, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

Lonewolf - promo band collage - 2014 - #7707

From Massacre Records:

The history of LONEWOLF, hailing from Grenoble (France), began back in 1992. They played True Heavy Metal since the very beginning and soon released several demo tapes as well as a 7” and recorded even an album, which unfortunately never got released and is referred to as “the lost album”. Following a bad experience with a French label, LONEWOLF split up in 1996.

They came back in 2000, along with the demo “March Into The Arena”, which was re-released as the band’s debut album via Goi Music in 2001.

The second album “Unholy Paradise” followed two years later. “Made In Hell” was released in 2008 via Eat Metal, followed by “The Dark Crusade” in 2009 (via Kathargo Records/Killer Metal Records). The band’s latest albums are “Army Of The Damned” (2012, Napalm Records) and “The Fourth And Final Horseman” (2013, Napalm Records).

LONEWOLF were the first French band ever to play in Greece and were opening act for Grave Digger at their first gig in France. During the past decade, LONEWOLF went on headliner EU tour w/ Dragonsfire and Iron Fate in 2011 and were part of the “Wolfsnächte Tour” 2012, along with Powerwolf, Stormwarrior and Mystic Prophecy. They also played at festivals such as the Up The Hammers (GR), Headbangers Open Air (GER), Hard Rock Session (FR), Beastival (DE) or the Metalfest Open Airs (DE and AT).

LONEWOLF’s new album “Cult Of Steel” will be released in autumn 2014 via Massacre Records!

BULLET – NEW ALBUM “STORM OF BLADES” AND EUROPEAN TOUR ANNOUNCED!

Posted in Heavy Metal, metal music, music news, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , on June 13, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

Bullet - band promo pic - 2014 - #99703

On September 5th (Sweden: 03.09., UK: 08.09., US: 09.09.) the new BULLET album called Storm Of Blades will hit the stores. It is their fifth longplayer and the first featuring the band’s new guitar player Alexander Lyrbo, who replaced Erik Almström in 2012.

“This is a fast and heavy back to the roots album,” the band comments. A lot of the feeling, BULLET had in the beginning, is there but with an up-to-date sound and craftsmanship.

“Now with the young blood Alex on the guitar, always thirsty for Metal, the songs ended up just like that: Heavier, faster and more raw than on previous albums. We can now at last truthfully say; this is our best album this far and most likely the rawest since the Heavy Metal Highway recording in 2002”

The album title Storm Of Blades came up during a soundcheck before a show last year. “We wanted to make the toughest Bulletsong ever and this riff popped up. The first impression was the image of knifes falling from the sky and the title »Storm Of Blades« was born. To make this song the title track of our new album became a must as it is a tale about destruction, apocalypse and horror!”

Storm Of Blades was recorded during December/January 2014 and April/May 2014 at the Pama Studio in Torsås, Sweden. Produced by BULLET and Magnus “Mankan” Sedenberg.

Right after some summer festivals and the album release, BULLET will be on the road again, along with two well-chosen support bands. “Stallion and Striker will be our fellow hell raisers on the first leg, and this tour should not let a fan of Heavy Metal music down. We will raise hell, we will drink beer, we will bang our heads together and kill grunge… again! Prepare for the storm of blades!”

Unspeakable Axe Records has announced the September 2nd release of Feed the Ego, from Swiss thrashers ALGEBRA.

ALGEBRA is superficially an unusual moniker for a thrash band, calling to mind mathematical precision and maybe pencil-snapping frustration rather than the blitzkrieg attack of Slayer, et al. But as one absorbs Swiss thrash machine ALGEBRA’s music, the name makes increasingly more sense. Both the math and the anger are here – the former in the unreasonably tight playing, complex riffs and spiraling lead work; and the latter in the lyrics, which tackle all manner of modern-day frustrations.

Take for example the opening track “Survival Nowadays.” Over a pummeling riff assault reminiscent of Sepultura, Testament, Coroner and more, the gruff vocalist barks about what life in 2014 has done to humankind. And it’s not a pretty picture. We are soft, we are lazy, we are complacent. The song is criticism honed to a knife’s edge. It would be hard to swallow if it didn’t sound so damn good.

The aforementioned “Survival Nowadays” can be heard below:

ALGEBRA’s debut album was self-released in 2012 and reissued by Stormspell Records afterward. Now they will follow that up with their sophomore effort. Feed The Ego satiates thrash-hungry listeners with nine aggressively complicated calculations, all mixed and mastered by Andy Classen. Unspeakable Axe Records will release this album on September 2nd, 2014.

5 Out Of 5 METAL Fists!

Metalfistredbckgrndsmall5

TANK – The title track, from TANKS’s 2012 War Nation album boasts a Melodic Metal ride that sends me off into Metal La-la land. A grand Classic Metal sound and vibe TANK has carried on, with this entire War Nation album! The timeless vocals of the legendary Doogie White soars on this title track and throughout this album, truly one of his finest Metal performances on his impressive Metal resume. In my Metal opinion.

Guitarists Mick Tucker and Cliff Evans are a powerhouse duo for my ears to savor! If this War Nation album had been released back in the mid to late 80’s, I firmly believe (nearly) every Metalhead alive would have owned and bragged about it. No matter how I slice or dice it, this 2012 version of TANK thrills me and I make no excuses for being psyched-out by it all. Crank up War Nation and hail Metal! Metal be thy name. – Stone

Track Listing: War Nation, Song Of The Dead, Hammer And Nails, Don’t Dream In The Dark, Grace Of God, Dreamer, Justice For All, Wings Of Heaven, State Of The Union, Hard Road, War Machine (live bonus track), Feast Of The Devil (live bonus track), W.M.L.A. (acoustic version/bonus track)

TANK – War Nation Is Stone’s METAL Pick Of The Day!

From Massacre Records:

We’re delighted to announce the signing of REAPER from Germany!

The journey of REAPER began back in 1984 when Peter “Onkel Eff” Fickert (drums), Andreas Maus (guitar), Robert Kölling (guitar) und Matthias “Mäfju” Kraft (bass) decided to make music together. Within the first months, Robert Kölling was replaced by Daniel Zimmermann and singer Thomas Bennecke joined the band’s ranks.

Soon after the band’s formation, the band started to release first demos as well as the debut album “Beyond All Time” in 1990 via Bellaphon. The studio albums “The Years Within” (1992 via Mausoleum) and “Gardens Of Seth” (2009 via STF Records) followed, as well as other demos and CD Compilations.

The band’s line-up changed in the following years, currently featuring Daniel Zimmermann (lead vocals, guitar), Matthias Kraft (bass, backing vocals), Benni Lodewig (guitar, backing vocals) and Jan Breede (drums).

In the past 30 years, REAPER played a lot of gigs and were part of festivals such as the Ragnarock Open Air, Power Of Metal Festival, Masters Of Cassel and Swordbrothers Festival.

REAPER’s upcoming 4th full-length album “An Atheist Monument” is set to be released in late July via Massacre Records!

ACCEPT – REVEAL TITLE AND ARTWORK OF NEW STUDIO ALBUM

Posted in Heavy Metal, metal music, Music, news, rock music, rock music news, world news with tags , , , , , on April 6, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

Accept - Blind Rage - promo cover pic - 2014

German Heavy Metal legends ACCEPT have announced Blind Rage as the title to their third studio album since their 2010 comeback and fourteenth studio album of their career. Set for release this summer in North America, Blind Rage will be produced, mixed, and mastered by Andy Sneap (EXODUS, MEGADETH, OPETH, ARCH ENEMY).

“Something happened to us, something subliminal and impetuous,” states ACCEPT guitarist and main songwriter Wolf Hoffmann. “It is wild and scary and it’s called Blind Rage! The cover artwork done by Daniel Goldsworthy shows the beast coming over us – in blind rage – all over the planet. Wherever we go, whenever you turn on the TV, there is blind rage in the works – either natural catastrophes or man-made madness.”

Proudly representing the “Made in Germany” trademark, ACCEPT fashioned distinct musical blueprints that have influenced multiple generations of followers. They have kept their music and artistry relevant around the world and have overcome staggering odds to maintain international careers for over three decades.

The band’s 2010 career comeback album, Blood Of The Nations, debuted at #25 on the iTunes Top Rock Albums chart and at #187 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. In Canada, the album debuted at #53 on the Nielsen Soundscan Top Hard Albums chart.

ACCEPT’s 2012 album, Stalingrad, debuted at #81 on the Billboard Top 200 and clinched the #13 position on the Top Independent Albums chart. In Canada, the album debuted at #101 on the Top 200 Albums chart and #7 on the Top Hard Music Albums chart.

GAMMA RAY – German Power Metal Masters Premiere New Tracks From “Empire Of The Undead”; Album To Drop Next Month

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal bands, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, news, Power Metal, rock music, rock music news, world news with tags , , , , , , , , on March 25, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

Gamma Ray - Empire Of The Undead - promo cover pic - 2014

In celebration of its forthcoming release, Germany power metal masters, GAMMA RAY, offer up a whopping six tracks from their forthcoming new full-length, Empire Of The Undead, set for release next month.

In a mammoth, collaborative promotional effort, Bravewords, Decibel Magazine and Metal Insider, unite, each bringing fans two tracks from the record.

Sample “Avalon” and “Pale Rider,” currently streaming at

Bravewords HERE.

“Born To Fly” and “Master Of Confusion,” at Decibel HERE.

“Time For Deliverance” and “Demonseed,” at Metal Insider HERE.

A record that almost wasn’t, Empire Of The Undead was composed throughout 2013 with Eike Freese (Dark Age) at the mixing desk alongside bassist/co-writer, Dirk Schlächter, and was nearing completion before Hammer Studios, their home, rehearsal space, and meeting point for many Metal bands throughout Germany, had burned down leaving much of its contents in ruins. Fortunately, the Empire Of The Undead masters managed to make it through unscathed. “If this could not stop us, nothing ever will,” joked light-hearted GAMMA RAY vocalist Kai Hansen, adding that, “We got rid of a lot of shit that we gathered there. Unfortunately, a lot of good equipment as well. Anyhow, we look towards the future, we saved the production and we can continue now in this new place.”

Gamma Ray - Classic Logo - B&W!

More than four years since the release of their critically acclaimed tenth full-length, To The Metal!, Empire Of The Undead is over an hour-long and showcases a band more ambitious and variable than ever before. From the symphonic bombast of album opener “Avalon,” to the high-speed, Judas Priestian drive of “Hellbent,” GAMMA RAY manages to tread through an entire spectrum of Heavy Metal. Elsewhere the band seamlessly explores the realms of driving Hard Rock (“Pale Rider”) – a stylistic element Hansen honed from his time with side project Unisonic; triumphant Power Metal anthems (“I Will Return”) and emotional Rock ballads (“Time For Deliverance”).

Adding to its sonic diversity is the notable variation in Hansen’s characteristically high-pitched, voice. On “Master Of Confusion” from 2013’s eponymous EP, Hansen’s timbre is reminiscent of Billy Idol while the anthemesque “Seven” is suddenly punctuated by a sinister recitative, cleverly decelerating the song’s speed before finally exploding in a great choir finale.

Gamma Ray - Empire Of The Undead - promo cover pic - 2014

“As far as variation is concerned, I think that’s something we always craved for, something we always needed. To just do the same thing on ten or eleven songs is boring in some way,” Hansen remarks. “I always liked albums that had a certain variety in style in some way, as long as everything fits together. We always took the freedom to do what we liked and since I like so many different things, this album has become quite manifold…There’s definitely more bite and heaviness on this album. Since I’ve been pretty busy with Unisonic, which is more on the hardrock /AOR side of things, there has definitely been a need to be as bad as can be with GAMMA RAY now….”

Empire Of The Undead will be released in North America on CD, LP and digitally via Armoury Records in conjunction with earMusic on April 15, 2014.
