Finnish Extreme Metal Band A LIE NATION To Release New EP In April!

Finnish Melodic Extreme Metal quintet A Lie Nation will release their second EP, called “Begin Hate”, April 5th 2017 via Inverse Records.

“Begin Hate” is rough, yet melodic, Extreme Metal with an original touch that fuses elements from Black and Death Metal with rock-like straightforwardness. The four song EP is a study of negative mindscapes of the human species and it spans from extreme aggression to apocalyptic and self-destructive atmospheres. Heavy hitting rhythms and razor sharp vocals are balanced out with intriguing melodies and smoothly grinding bass lines. “Begin Hate” does not bow to anyone or anything, but is sure to leave a mark with its energetic destructiveness.

“Begin Hate” was recorded during the year 2016 at Oulu, Finland. Recording, mixing, mastering and the cover art has been fully produced within A Lie Nation.

West coast metal veterans Metal Church will release “Classic Live” via Rat Pak Records on April 28, 2017. Produced by Kurdt Vanderhoof, this special edition release features nine classic Metal Church songs recorded live on their 2016 tour and also includes a special bonus track; a powerful new studio version of “Fake Healer” that features a duet with Queensrÿche vocalist Todd La Torre.

Comments guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof; “This album not only commemorates the reunion between Mike and the band, but it also pays tribute to some of the more popular songs of that era. It’s really cool to see so many old fans and new fans of all ages enjoying these classics as we perform them live, so it only made sense to release this”. WAN was formed in 2009 as a triad of aggression with the intent of bringing metal back to its roots – raw, filthy and in the gutter with a twist of punk. A year later, the band released its first full-length “Wolves of the North.” The album was reissued on limited-edition cassette in 2011.

Core members Aganaroth, Isengrim and Tsjud recruited drummer Dimman for the debut’s 2013 follow-up Enjoy the Filth. Dimman’s time in WAN was short-lived, opening the door for current skin-basher Draup.

“Wolves of the North” was re-recorded in 2015 and released together with “”Enjoy the Filth” as a limited gate-fold double LP. WAN that same year recorded five new tracks Necroholic, a split-CD with Curse and Styggelse and released a video for “Pentagram Rockers,” off the second album.

The band has since brought their primal, old-school Black Metal to several stages in preparation the oncoming slaughter of Wan Way to Hell.

HIDEOUS DIVINITY – Italian Death Metal Collective Prepares To Unleash Third Full-Length, Adveniens” Via Unique Leader This April; Details Revealed

Italian Death Metal collective HIDEOUS DIVINITY, featuring within its ranks current and former members of Hour Of Penance and Aborted, are preparing to unleash their third full-length via Unique Leader this Spring. Titled Adveniens and scheduled for release on April 28th, the follow-up to the band’s critically lauded Cobra Verde long player was recorded, mixed and mastered at Stefano Morabito’s 16th Cellar Studio (Hour Of Penance, Fleshgod Apocalypse etc.) during the Autumn of 2016, includes a rendition of Sinister’s “Embodiment Of Chaos” and finds HIDEOUS DIVINITY offering up their darkest material yet.

“It may be pretentious to talk about evolution inside our musical genre, this is what Adveniens truly means for us,” elaborates guitarist Enrico Schettino. “Just when we believed that with Cobra Verde we reached a point of no return, our songwriting turned even more dark and monumental. Although we’ll never consider ourselves close to Lucyfyre, Adversarial, Deathspell Omega, and Akhlys, the influence of this new wave of obscure Metal on us these last years has been massive. The result is our most epic Death Metal effort ever conceived. ”

“Stefano Morabito and his 16th Cellar Studios set up a new standard with the production of Adveniens,” he continues. “Never before has our sound reached such a level of uncompromising intensity without sounding forced or overproduced. The maniacal efforts made to perfect every single drum beat, vocal line and guitar chord almost caused a nervous breakdown but it truly paid off.”

“The entire album is a reflection on history and time, on the succession of futile ages, on the role of the poet as soothsayer and witness of the winds of time erasing each one of these ages from the face of the earth. A reflection on Walter Benjamin predicting the ‘adveniens’ of David Cronenberg, on Professor O’Blivion predicting an era when ‘all of us will have special names.’ Adveniens is a violent reflection on art.”

RITUAL OF ODDS – New Studio Album “Ritual Of 9” Releases On February 3rd

Melodic Death Metal outfit Ritual of Odds from Greece have signed a worldwide deal with Swimming With Sharks Records. The band’s third studio album ‘Ritual of 9’ was recorded at StudiOdds Recording Studio and was mixed & mastered by John Mcris. The band takes influences from bands such as At The Gates, In Flames, and Carcass and have been called the ‘Melodic Death Metal Masters of Greece’ by Axis of Metal (Canada).

Label founder Noah “Shark” Robertson (Motograter/Ex-The Browning) states: “Patras, Greece… What a great find! The moment I heard “Ritual of 9” I knew this band was something special. They give me the same feeling I got the first time I listened to At The Gates or In Flames. They have all the elements of a melodic death metal powerhouse!”

Ritual of Odds formed in 2003, originally under the moniker Existence Edge, but changed the name in 2005 and began work on their ‘Building up the Underverse’ Demo. In 2008, the band played this material live on stage for the first time and received great reviews, encouraging them to begin working on their debut full length album ‘Underverse’; which was released in early 2010. At the end of that same year, the band recorded their 2nd full length album ‘God is an Atheist’, which was very well received. The band toured Europe and the US, in support of the release, performing with bands such as OMEN (USA), PAUL DI’ANNO (UK), SEPTIC FLESH (GR) and NIGHTRAGE (SW).

The band is often described as Melodic Death Metal, but many influences can be heard. Ritual of Odds have forged a unique sound by infusing elements of thrash, horror and epic metal into their own, creative brand of melodic death.

Athens-based Alternative Metal band GHOST SEASON will release its debut album, Like Stars In a Neon Sky, on January 27 via Pavement Entertainment.

The album was co-produced by vocalist J.Loren Wince, from alt-rockers HURT.

“This is what we were waiting for,” said bassist Dorian Gates. “Over the last year we have put our hard work to make this album get to you. And we are blessed and honored to have by our side J Loren from Hurt and the guys at Pavement Entertainment.”

Guitarist Nick Christolis adds: “We blended in our music all of our influences: old meets new, classic meets modern. Thoughts turn into music, music becomes food for thought.”

The twelve-track beast follows the band’s 2014 EP Ghosts Like Her and includes the single “Break My Chains,” which was released in December 2015. Like Stars in a Neon Sky also features an adrenalized rendition of Savage Garden’s pop hit “Break Me Shake Me.”

OVERKILL – Thrash Metal Warriors Announce 2017 North American Tour With NILE!

Legendary New Jersey thrashers, OVERKILL, have announced their 2017 North American trek with Egyptian themed Technical Death Metal champions and label mates NILE. The 25-date tour will kick-off on February 14th at The Trocadero in Philadelphia, make stops in Chicago, Anaheim, and Washington, DC before ending at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ.

Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth comments, “Can’t wait to roll ‘the wheel’ down the road. This Feb & Mar, USA, coming to a stage near you! Let’s make it another one to remember! Onward! Upward!”

OVERKILL will be touring in support of their upcoming album, The Grinding Wheel, which will be released February 10th via Nuclear Blast. Recently, the band released the video for Our Finest Hour.

NILE is touring in support of their latest release What Should Not Be Unearthed.

CRYSTAL VIPER – To Release New Video Clip And New Single On December 9th!

On December 9th, the Polish Heavy Metallers Crystal Viper will release a video clip to the first single off their new album, entitled “The Witch Is Back”. The video clip has been produced by the Grupa13 production house, which most recently also did the Kreator, Behemoth and Amon Amarth videos. “The Witch Is Back” single will be available as an online stream on Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming services and the digital download will be available on iTunes and Amazon. Fans that will decide to pre-order the digital version of the forthcoming new album, will be able to immediately download “The Witch Is Back” single for free.

CRYSTAL VIPER are returning after a 4 year absence, with a brand new concept album entitled “Queen Of The Witches”, which will be released on February 17, 2017, on AFM Records. The album has been produced by Bart Gabriel (Cirith Ungol, Mythra, Sacred Steel), and engineered and mixed by Mariusz Pietka (Jack Starr’s Burning Starr, Lonewolf).

The album’s cover artwork has been created by the legendary German artist, Andreas Marschall (Running Wild, Blind Guardian, Obituary). “Queen Of The Witches” also features three special guests: the MANOWAR co-founder and guitar hero Ross The Boss, and no less legendary Jeff Dunn (aka Mantas) of Venom / Venom Inc., will appear with guitar solos in two of the songs. Except that, in one of the songs fans will hear a duet of Marta Gabriel and Steve Bettney, vocalist of the NWoBHM cult heroes Saracen.

“Queen Of The Witches” will be available as limited edition vinyl LP (first pressing: 500 copies on white vinyl, gatefold cover), CD, and digital download. The LP and CD versions will include different bonus tracks.

Legendary Canadian Thrash/Heavy Metal masters Annihilator have lacerated many senses over the years with their supreme, aggressive Metal mastery, and on January, 27th, 2017, their legion of loyal fans can look forward to a series of fresh sensory experiences as Annihilator proudly present Triple Threat, a three-disc collection of Annihilator’s music in a trio of very different scenarios.

The main disc comprises a set of Annihilator’s classics performed acoustically, with band leader/guitarist/ songwriter and vocalist Jeff Waters bringing together band members Aaron Homma and Rich Hinks, Vancouver BC drummer and friend Marc LaFrance plus Ottawa session player Pat Robillard.

Recorded and mixed by Waters, this quintet recorded everything live, off the floor and in single takes at Watersound Studios in Dunrobin, Canada during late May and early June, 2016, giving Waters one of the most challenging, satisfying and perhaps ‘electric’ creative moments in his career.

The second disc will feature Annihilator’s vicious set from the 2016 Bang Your Head Festival, a set which illustrates the very best of what Annihilator is known for –tight, sharp, technically excellent and melodic Thrash Metal music. It will also contain some exclusive inside-Annihilator off-stage perspective, which captures further elements, flavours and detail of the band which fans will flip over.

On February 17, 2017, AFM RECORDS will release CRYSTAL VIPER‘s new concept album entitled “Queen Of The Witches”.
