BROOKLYN VEGAN STREAMING “DIRT PREACHERS”

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 12, 2015 – All Them Witches, the Nashville psych-rock quartet whose recent Bonnaroo debut was heralded by Fuse, American Songwriter, Consequence of Sound and the Nashville Scene, release their label debut, Dying Surfer Meets His Maker, on Oct. 30th via New West Records.

Brooklyn Vegan, who dubbed the outfit’s 2014 self-released album, Lightning at the Door, “a heady brew of swirling tones and heavy blue-eyed blues rock,” are streaming the new song “Dirt Preachers”: http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2015/08/all_them_wiches.html. The song is one of the nine new tracks recorded during the band’s seclusion at a remote cabin in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

“You couldn’t hardly walk in there, dodging cables, mics and guitars,” Parks says of the small space, “the cabin was a wreck. We immediately got up there, unloaded our 15 seater van and a trailer packed to the brim with gear, and started moving things around, set up amps, and a mixing board.” They recorded much of the album live, but used the studio as an instrument in itself, helmed by producer Mikey Allred and McLeod. The location, Parks says, also had an influence on the feel of the album. “Pigeon Forge is tourist central, with Dollywood and moonshine distilleries, pancake houses, and Christmas stores. But our cabin was up on the mountain. We were the only ones there. We didn’t have to worry about anyone calling us in for being loud. It was quiet. In the morning, the mist would be hanging over the city, then it would clear up and you’d see all these terrible tourist shops. It was nice to know we didn’t have to be a part of it. There’s a duality that happens throughout this record, that of the solitude of the mountain and the absolute Babylon that is Pigeon Forge.”

Heavy, heady and hypnotic, All Them Witches concoct a powerful and potent psychedelic sound that fuses bluesy soul, Southern swagger and thunderous hard rock. With their transfixing releases and a jam-filled live show where no two shows are the same, the band has amassed a devoted following and have become something of a sensation in the underground rock scene. “The band seemingly channels the churn of the universe and connects with a big, bad, uncaring cosmos,” wrote the Boston Globe, adding, “There is a primal ebb and flow at the core… The band’s mystic atmosphere, dark but not brutal, is the result of a tireless work ethic, a grueling tour schedule, and a tape trader’s compulsion for documenting every show.”

Upcoming Tour Dates:

September 12 Nashville, TN Live on the Green
September 13 St. Louis, MO LouFest
September 24 Bloomington, IN The Bishop
September 25 Cincinnati, OH MidPoint Music Festival
October 3-4 Louisville, KY Louder than Life Festival

(Los Angeles) DELTA DEEP, the new blues-based music project featuring Phil Collen (lead guitarist of Def Leppard) and Robert DeLeo (bassist for Stone Temple Pilots) in addition to Debbi Blackwell-Cook (back-up vocalist for such artists as Michael Buble & Luther Vandross) and Forrest Robinson (drummer for India.Arie, Joe Sample & The Crusaders, TLC) played their first live show to a SOLD-OUT crowd, including Def Leppard bandmate Vivian Campbell, on June 17th at Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles.

Delta Deep “heated up the room with a set of songs from their self-titled debut album. From the kickass opening number, Led Zeppelin’s “Black Dog”, the gathering was introduced to Blackwell-Cook’s husky, swampy, deliciously bluesy voice,” raved New Noise Magazine

The band tore through originals such as “Bang The Lid”, “Miss Me” and “Shuffle Sweet” as well as covers like “Mistreated,” to the delight of the fans. Collen exclaimed, “We were totally blown away by the response from our sold out debut performance. It was above and beyond what we expected but we were ready and hit Hollywood with everything we had. We can’t wait to tour this monster!”

DELTA DEEP’s self-titled debut album, a mix of original and hand-picked cover tracks, will be released on June 23, 2015 on Mailboat Records and also features special guest appearances by Def Leppard vocalists Joe Elliott, Whitesnake’s David Coverdale, Sex Pistols/MANRAZE drummer Paul Cook, and GIRL/MANRAZE bassist, Simon Laffy. Recently, song premieres have been placed on Guitar World, Billboard and Ultimate Classic Rock. On release day a premiere of the lyric video for “Down in the Delta” will take place on Huffington Post.

Collen initially started DELTA DEEP in 2012 after jamming over the course of a year with friend and relative, Debbi Blackwell-Cook. What started as a casual pairing singing Motown and classic blues staples quickly became a quartet who share a love for soul, funk and the blues when they added STP’s DeLeo and drummer Forrest
Robinson.

“a stunning hard-rock record that examines what happens after a breakup of any kind.” – NPR

April 23, 2015, Philadelphia – Royal Thunder debut the video for Time Machine, from their recently released album, Crooked Doors, via Rolling Stone:

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/premieres/royal-thunders-mlny-parsonz-on-escaping-a-cult-touring-with-wilco-20150423.

The video was directed by J.P. Bradburn who also worked with the band on their video for “Blue.” NPR said of the song, “’Time Machine’ moves with the stubborn resolve of a tightrope walker on a windy day: The song heaves along with intertwining guitars and the soulful vocal of Parsonz, who seems more aware of her dynamic abilities than ever.”

The Atlanta-quartet is currently on a Southeastern tour with Wilco, playing this evening at the Bayou Music Center in Houston. Royal Thunder’s headlining tour kicks off May 28 in New Orleans and will include a brief run of shows with Halestorm and Rival Sons.

The band has been sharing behind-the-scenes footage filmed during the making of Crooked Doors, as well as a newly released clip where they discuss the individual tracks on the album. The first two in the track-by-track series of webisodes can be seen below:

Crooked Doors was released earlier this month, with Stereogum calling the album “the hard rock equivalent of Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors.” Entertainment Weekly said Crooked Doors “leans on its substantial pop chops. Tracks like ‘Glow’ are more Heart than Led Zep, which is not a bad thing at all.” Metal Hammer UK recently nominated the band for “Best Underground Band” in their annual Golden Gods’ Awards.

JEFF BECK LIVE+ New Live Album Spanning The Legendary Guitarist’s Vast and Varied Career, Along With Two New Studio Tracks, Available May 5th

Posted in classic rock, Hard Rock, Music, rock music with tags , , , , , on April 9, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Jeff Beck Live+ - promo album cover pic - 2015 - JBMIMO0115

LOS ANGELES – Jeff Beck earned raves last year for his spellbinding performances during the hugely successful double-bill tour with ZZ TOP. Fans can relive Beck’s thrilling guitar gymnastics from those shows with a new live album that touches on key eras from the legendary artist’s influential career. The album captures a snapshot of Jeff’s work in 2014, with two newly recorded studio tracks also included, his first new music since 2010’s Grammy®-winning Emotion & Commotion.

Packed with more than an hour of music, JEFF BECK LIVE+ will be available from Atco Records, an imprint of Rhino Entertainment, on May 5 for a list price of $18.98 (CD) and will also be available digitally. The album will arrive as Beck is in the midst of an East Coast solo tour, which includes newly added dates in May. This trek also features make-up dates from the same ZZ TOP tour this album was recorded during, before it was cut short due to an injury to ZZ TOP bassist Dusty Hill.

The 14 live performances on JEFF BECK LIVE+ were recorded at multiple venues in 2014 and feature Beck backed by his band: vocalist Jimmy Hall, bassist Rhonda Smith, drummer Jonathan Joseph and guitarist Nicolas Meier. The quintet explored Beck’s vast catalog—which stretches across five decades—with performances of “Morning Dew” (from Truth, 1968), “Superstition” (from Beck, Bogert, Appice, 1973), “Big Block” (from Jeff Beck’s Guitar Shop, 1989), as well as two Grammy-winning tracks: his cover of the Beatles’ “A Day In The Life” and “Hammerhead.”

LIVE + concludes with two new studio tracks: “Tribal” and “My Tiled White Floor,” with   guest vocals from Ruth Lorenzo and Veronica Bellino, respectively. These aggressive new songs mark Beck’s first studio recordings since 2010 and show a stark departure from the sound on his previous album as the guitarist continues to push the envelope of musical innovation, just as he has his entire career. These tracks are sure to whet the appetite of Beck fans as the guitarist prepares his 17th studio album, which is expected later this year.

Throughout his career, Beck has also proven to be a brilliant interpreter of other’s songs. This live album doesn’t disappoint with covers of “Danny Boy,” Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing,” Mahavishnu Orchestra’s “You Know You Know,” and Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come.”

Beck’s career took off in the mid-1960s, after replacing Eric Clapton as lead guitarist for The Yardbirds on the recommendation of his friend Jimmy Page. He played on several of the rock group’s hits, such as “Heart Full of Soul,” “Shapes of Things” and “Over Under Sideways Down.” Beck has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: once with The Yardbirds in 1992 and again as a solo artist in 2009. He has won numerous Grammy Awards, including two in 2011.
