SONATA ARCTICA – Announce Headlining North American Shows

In addition to their previously announced support dates with SYMPHONY X, the legendary Finnish power metal band SONATA ARCTICA are pleased to announce five headlining dates on their upcoming North American Tour. Joining the band as openers on all dates will be the American instrumental band POWERGLOVE.

The band comments: “It’s been awhile since we last toured the US & Canada so it’s gonna be really awesome to come back and kick some ass once again. With our new album we made a return to Power Metal so you can expect to hear some favourites from the past that we haven’t played in years as well as some new stuff. See you all soon! “

All dates are in support of their critically acclaimed album Clear Cold Beyond, which was released in 2024.

Finnish melodic metal titans SONATA ARCTICA deliver the perfect soundtrack for the cold season with their stormy new opus Clear Cold Beyond, set for release on March 8th, 2024 through Atomic Fire. In advance of the release, the quintet is pleased to unveil epic new single, “A Monster Only You Can’t See;” a song about friendship and never leaving anyone behind.

Frontman Tony Kakko elaborates, “We all may have, in our group of friends, that one person who seems to be a magnet for all kinds of problems, many of which they may not even see themselves. Maybe you’re that one? You might be an asshole, but you’re our asshole and we can see through all that, see the real you, and help. And when children arrive to the scene, they all fit under that same umbrella. Don’t worry. We’ll kick your butt up that hill.”

Following their trip through various acoustic landscapes during the pandemic, Clear Cold Beyond contains ten tracks reviving SONATA ARCTICA’s penchant for power metal-esque songwriting. From high-speed anthems such as “First In Line” and “California” to emotion-laden tracks like “The Best Things” and the closing title track, the record offers something for each and every SONATA ARCTICA fan. The album’s artwork, reminiscent of the art adorning early releases, was created by Niko Anttila. Additionally, the band returned to mixing engineer Mikko Karmila (1999’s Ecliptica, 2012’s Stones Grow Her Name). Final mastering was handled by Svante Forsbäck (Rammstein, Korpiklaani, Delain, The 69 Eyes, Deathstars) who has also been part of other SONATA ARCTICA productions.

SONATA ARCTICA – Returns With Rapid New Digital Single, “First In Line” – Nordic Power Metal Titans European Tour To Commence This Weekend

After two acoustic albums, SONATA ARCTICA have been secretly working on a new full-length. Fans can expect a return to their golden power metal roots on the group’s forthcoming opus. Slated for release in the Spring of 2024 via Atomic Fire, today the band is pleased to unveil a first taste of what’s to come with “First In Line.”

Frontman Tony Kakko elaborates, “This is the first power metal song I wrote for the forthcoming album which is laden with them. Its demo title was ‘First In Line’ and I managed to stick with it. The song handles the worry about raising a new generation of people with or rather letting an electronic screen — namely tv, pad, or some such — do a big part of raising this generation of human beings. We think that we buy ourselves time with these gadgets, but are these devices the right ‘nanny’ for our kids or should we maybe slow down a bit, read books, teach that happiness can be and often is something we reach by stopping and letting go of constant stimulation of all our audiovisual senses? In ways, we are flying blindly with these things. Things are advancing too fast in many ways…”

More details on SONATA ARCTICA’s upcoming full-length will be announced in the months to come.

SONATA ARCTICA – To Release “Acoustic Adventures – Volume Two” On September 30th Via Atomic Fire

Finnish five-piece SONATA ARCTICA need no introduction. Besides significantly influencing the power/melodic metal scene, they’re a band that’s not only notorious for consistently delivering high quality studio albums but also for experimenting and breaking out of their musical comfort zone. Such musical flexibility has resulted in the aptly titled Acoustic Adventures touring cycles as well as the release of Volume One of their first acoustic album earlier this year.

Today, SONATA ARCTICA are pleased to announce that the continuation and second chapter of the aforementioned record is set to be unleashed to the world on September 30th via Atomic Fire. The release not only completes the special acoustic saga but serves to finally celebrate the kickoff of their Finnish/European Acoustic Adventures tour, which was postponed multiple times in the midst of the Covid pandemic.

SONATA ARCTICA – ‘Stones Grow Her Name’ Releases In May, More Album Details

Finland’s SONATA ARCTICA have named their seventh studio album Stones Grow Her Name. Recorded in several studios all over Finland, mixed at Sonic Pump Studios by Mikko Karmila and mastered at Chartmakers by Svante Forsbäck, the album will be released in Europe on May 18th and in North America on May 22nd.

SONATA ARCTICA vocalist Tony Kakko comments:

“Our newest adventure is only a final touch short of being ready. The recordings went extremely well and the mixing is in schedule. Have to say I am enjoying myself greatly. I’ve had a very hard and work- filled two-year period writing the songs while touring extensively with our previous album The Days Of Grays, but it has all been worth it! Yet again, we are introducing new things to keep the music alive and interesting. New elements, styles and new moods, talented guest artists and ideas for the enjoyment of the loyal friends of our music. Can’t wait for you to get your hands and ears on Stones Grow Her Name!
