June 5, 2012, LOS ANGELES — The Melvins will attempt to become the Guinness World Record holders for the first band to tour the full United States and D.C. in 51 days with a tour kicking off Sept. 5 in Anchorage, Alaska and wrapping up Oct. 25 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

“We figured it was time for us to do something REALLY crazy,” said Osborne. “51 shows in 50 states plus 1 on D.C. and all in 51 days?  Jeez!  I wonder if we can do it?”

The tour, which will feature the Melvins Lite line-up of Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover and Trevor Dunn, also marks the first time in the band’s near 30-year history that they will perform in Alaska, New Hampshire, Delaware and Hawaii.

The Melvins Performance of “The War on Wisdom” from a recent episode of Last Call with Carson Daly can be seen by clicking the link below:

Arriving in-stores and online today is Freak Puke, the debut release from Melvins Lite that Spin recently described as “a unique detour for the long-running band” and adding “one of the loudest bands on earth has perfectly siphoned their gloomy energy into evil cocktail jazz.”

Trevor Dunn

“We had seen Trevor playing upright bass in a jazz setting and thought that we could utilize that for a recording project,” explained Crover. “This is something different from the two drummer/big hair line-up, which we plan on continuing with as well.”

Prior to the Fall, the Melvins have a full spate of appearances.  The band perform two shows in conjunction with Subliminal Projects: June 8 at The Echoplex in Los Angeles and June 30 at  TT Underground Gallery in New York.  Buzz Osborne will be a guest on Fox News’ “Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld” on June 28.   Melvins Lite will also venture north for a three week trek of primarily Canadian tour dates that kicks off on July 1 (dates below).

FEAR FACTORY – Announce AOL Listening Party For “The Industrialist”

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, heavy metal news, industrial metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , on June 5, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

The Industrialist to drop today; band gears up for this Summer’s Shockwave Festival

Today, and throughout the week, AOL Music will stream The Industrialist, the forthcoming new full-length from legendary futuristic Metal sorcerers FEAR FACTORY. Slated for North American release June 5, The Industrialist is the second album written by vocalist Burton C. Bell and guitarist Dino Cazares since reuniting in 2009 after a seven-year split.

Recently commended by Revolver Magazine in a 4/5 review for offering up “the same pulsating, angry urgency of old…nicely counterbalanced by some incredibly deft melodies,” The Industrialist is a conceptual record based around a short story written by Bell. The record again pairs FEAR FACTORY with producer Rhys Fulber and was mixed by Greg Reely (Paradise Lost/Skinny Puppy/Machine Head), with additional tracking by Logan Mader (Gojira/Divine Heresy).

Hear The Industrialist in full at THIS LOCATION.

Currently ravaging stages across Europe, FEAR FACTORY will return for another North American run of dates this summer headlining this year’s inaugural Shockwave Festival! Set to kick off July 6, the tour – which includes VoivodCattle DecapitationMisery IndexRevocationHavokDirge WithinLast Chance To ReasonVildhjarta,The Browning and Forged In Flame – will steamroll its way through over two dozen cities across North America. OZZY OSBOURNE “Speak Of The Devil” – First Official Release Of This 1982 Concert In Stores July 17th!

Posted in classic rock, Heavy Metal, heavy metal dvds, heavy metal news, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on June 5, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

“Speak Of The Devil” was filmed at Irvine Meadows, California in 1982. The show was part of the delayed continuation of the “Diary Of A Madman” tour following the tragic death of Randy Rhoads in March ’82 in a flying accident during the early part of the tour. The show features guitarist Brad Gillis who was brought in to replace Randy Rhoads.

The concert is a perfect snapshot of Ozzy Osbourne’s live performances in the eighties with dramatic staging and masses of energy with a setlist based around his first two solo albums and a few Black Sabbath classics. Ozzy has always been one of Heavy Metal’s great frontmen and despite the difficult circumstances, this show captures him at his absolute best.

Package contains liner notes written by bassist Rudy Sarzo.

Line-up:

Ozzy Osbourne – vocals

Don Airey – keyboards

Tommy Aldridge – drums

Brad Gillis – guitar

Rudy Sarzo – bass
