Some Metal and Rock ‘N Roll Thoughts – Tuesday, August 7th, 2012

Holy Metal crap, it’s already August 7th! When does time ever seem to slow down? Have you been scrambling lately trying to keep up on new album releases? I have. I’m always scrambling… like an egg in a frying pan! At the end of my Metal day, it’s all about being alive and being grateful for family, friends, Metal Buddies and…

If you want to get your eardrums pounded by some (Crossover) Thrash Metal that is super saturated with FUN and Old School vibes, while not missing a beat on total ass-kicking impact, then the recently released Municipal Waste album is for you. (See top of post). The Fatal Feast (Waste In Space) was released back on April 10th, via Nuclear Blast America. Metal as my witness, I cannot stop listening to this new Municipal Waste album. It just sounds and feels so F’n good. Metal be thy name.

Okay, okay. We’ll talk food. Geez. After all, food is… METAL.

On that trip I took to Ohio with my wife back in July, we did stop to eat at another restaurant besides Champps. Skyline Chili was recommended to us by the airport shuttle bus driver. Located in Dayton, Ohio, Skyline Chili served up both fantastic service and most importantly… terrific food. The fantastic service came courtesy of a super-duper friendly waitress named: Charlee.

I realize that there are many female spelling variants for this name, so I chose one at random. If Charlee ever comes across this post, I hope she can direct me to the proper spelling of her name! Charlee is a college student and aspiring entertainment journalist. Rock on.

Below is a fine example of what my wife and I ordered for lunch at Skyline Chili on our visit. After my wife and I ate this bounty of food, we didn’t eat dinner that night! Nor did we eat breakfast the next day! Whoa!

Last and definitely not least, I have decided to write for Brian Basher’s Hard Rock Nights. There are editorial responsibilities included too. Metal Buddy Brian Basher asked and Stone said… “Let’s Rock.”

Don’t panic! Metal Odyssey isn’t going away! I will still pump-out the Metal and Extreme Metal news, Metal & Rock ‘N Roll thoughts, album reviews and off-beat stuff (such as restaurants I’ve eaten at), right here!. Metal Odyssey is my Metal sanctuary; so rest assured you’ll always find something new about Metal (and Rock ‘N Roll) here, my Metal brethren!

COVEN 13 – To Perform At Hammer Of Doom Festival 2012

Legendary U.S. Doom act COVEN (also known as COVEN 13) has been confirmed to appear at Germany’s Hammer of Doom Festival on November 10, 2012 at Posthalle in Würzburg. The festival begins on November 9th for Epic Night at which ROSS THE BOSS will headline. COVEN will join PENTAGRAM, THE SKULL, SOLSTICE and others in performing the next day, appropriately called Doomsday!

Visit Hammer Of Doom Festival for more information on the fest.

Shadow Kingdom Records reissued COVEN’s legendary 1987 album Worship New Gods on July 31st of this year. This reissue marks the first official release of Worship New Gods on CD and is available at www.shadowkingdomrecords.com.

“It’s impossible to make albums that sound like this anymore, and for that we’re thankful that Shadow Kingdom are bringing back bands that sound live Coven.” Decibel

“Coven’s Worship New Gods reveals the best of the underbelly of American underground heavy metal from the Eighties. Easily recommended.” – Dangerdog

“Its antiquity will only serve in its favor, as it conjures forth a genuine nostalgia for the 80s efforts of bands like Cirith Ungol, Pentagram, Manilla Road and St. Vitus. Sword and sorcery spent in harmonious, atmospheric flesh with plenty of variation to keep the listener hooked as if he/she were smoking a bone while deeply immersed in a Fritz Leiber or Michael Moorcock story.” – From the Dust Returned

“There’s really no reason to not take the time out and hear this underground gem you probably never even knew existed.” – Apoch’s Metal Review

“Worship New Gods” is an enjoyable album of contrasts, melodic soft interludes between occult like slabs of heaviness, but at all times fresh (For the time) and interesting. Happy 25th birthday!” Destructive Music
