DISSENTIENCE “Obsidian Tomb”https://youtu.be/LfkYsbFSZfA

A blistering blend of thrash aggression, death metal precision, and cinematic atmosphere, “Obsidian Tomb” serves as the opening chapter in Kaiju’s apocalyptic narrative. The song begins with a somber acoustic passage before erupting into a relentless assault of blast beats, crushing riffs, and haunting melodies. Lyrically, the track captures the first moments of devastation as a colossal, nameless monster emerges from the depths to annihilate an unsuspecting city.

Rather than grounding the story in a specific place or era, DISSENTIENCE leaves the monster and setting deliberately vague, allowing listeners to project their own fears into the music. The result is a track that feels as timeless as it is terrifying.

Kaiju – Track-list:

  1. Obsidian Tomb
  2. Chaos Absolute
  3. Kaiju
  4. Death Shroud

Kaiju is a four-track concept EP inspired by Japanese monster cinema and Lovecraftian horror. Produced by the band alongside Corey Pierce, the record was engineered by Matt Menafro at Peach Pie Sound, mixed by Zeuss, and mastered by Alan Douches. The full EP will be released independently on digital and CD formats.

NOSFERATU – NECA Toony Terrors Action Figure I Acquired

Posted in horror, horror movies, movies, news with tags , , , , , on October 12, 2025 by Metal Odyssey

Above: Nosferatu (1922) silent film figure of Count Orlok I obtained during this past Summer.

Nosferatu was touched upon in Bram Stokers’ 1897 novel Dracula. Referring to the more common label of an evil, blood sucking and living dead entity known as a vampire, Nosferatu is also the title of the silent film from 1922 and its inevitable recent remake from 2024.

Above: image of Count Orlok from Nosferatu (1922).

If my memory is correct, I first watched the 1922 silent film Nosferatu when I was in the 7th grade, going back to 1978/1979. I remember sneaking into the living room very late at night, while my parents and sister were asleep, just to watch this iconic silent film on the local community access channel, via the television. Needless to say, I had the shit scared out of me that night and loved it!

Above: Count Orlok shadow image from Nosferatu (1922).

Since I was a kid, I’ve been a fan of all the classic horror films and especially the Universal Monsters franchise. Fast forward to this past Summer of 2025 and I acquired this creepy and yet stunning action figure of Count Orlok from the Nosferatu silent film. By way of a straight up trade, (equaling to twenty U.S. dollars), I was grinning to own this sinister figure that has evoked my memory in such a fun and spooky way. Metal be thy name. – Stone

Bonus Fact: Max Schreck was a German actor who portrayed Count Orlok in the 1922 silent film Nosferatu.

About REDIVIDER:

REDIVIDER is a death metal band from Louisville, Kentucky, formed in 2021 by vocalist Jacob Spencer and guitarist Paul Nunavath. Joined by guitarist Jake Atha and bassist Alexander Farrington, the band draws influence from the early Florida death metal scene and bands like CANNIBAL CORPSE, MORBID ANGEL, DEATH, and GORGUTS.

With a sound rooted in old school brutality and layered with modern aggression, REDIVIDER combines guttural vocals, dissonant riffs, and relentless groove to create music that is both violent and immersive.

The band made their live debut in 2022 and quickly gained recognition in the underground scene, sharing stages with acts such as CREEPING DEATH, CRYPTA, MASSACRE, COGNITIVE, and SEE YOU NEXT TUESDAY.

Their debut album Sounds of Malice is a conceptually rich, sonically punishing record that blends fantasy-driven storytelling with crushing heaviness. Written with live performance in mind, REDIVIDER’s music thrives on tension, rhythm, and unapologetic intensity, death metal built to be felt as much as heard.
