NARCOTIC WASTELAND’s New Single Battles The “Fentanyl Zombie Apocalypse” ~ To Kick Off USA Tour w/ Visitant, Monochromatic Black, IATT, and Yotuma

Narcotic Wasteland, fronted by guitarist/vocalist Dallas Toler‑Wade of NILE fame, fires the first shot of their August tour with the release of their blistering new single “Fentanyl Zombie Apocalypse.” The track arrives as the band launches the “FENTANYL ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE TOUR,” featuring select dates with support from Visitant, Monochromatic Black, IATT, and Yotuma (dates listed below).

A ferocious blend of technical precision, social commentary, and unrelenting aggression, the single stands as one of Narcotic Wasteland’s most urgent works to date, an explosive warning siren aimed at the escalating fentanyl epidemic and the societal collapse surrounding it.

Dallas Toler‑Wade comments on the new single:

“I am very excited to release our new song, Fentanyl Zombie Apocalypse! The song is, of course, about the fentanyl epidemic and the overall impact it has on an already failing country. Musically, it really captures the mood of this very well. Fast and tricky yet twisted and catchy! Kenji really brought some great bass and keys to the table. And Austin needs a drum set that won’t collapse under pressure! I am super proud of the work we have done together, and I cannot wait to show the world what we have been working on behind the scenes.”

Narcotic Wasteland continues to evolve into one of extreme metal’s most formidable units, featuring Dallas Toler‑Wade, former Nile guitarist, vocalist, and key songwriter; a defining force in technical death metal since the early ’90s.

Austin Vicars, a high‑octane drummer known for blistering blast beats and commanding stage presence, and Kenji Tsunami, an inventive bassist whose depth, texture, and ferocity amplify the band’s overwhelming sonic assault.

Together, they deliver a live experience that is both punishing and surgically precise, an unrelenting wall of sound that has packed venues and earned critical acclaim throughout recent tours. Narcotic Wasteland has cemented its position as a dominant force in modern death metal, unleashing a volatile blend of razor‑sharp technicality, feral aggression, and raw intensity.

Their music confronts addiction, corruption, and societal collapse with unflinching honesty, powered by musicianship that continually pushes the boundaries of extreme metal. Expect a barrage of new material, explosive performances, and the full force of Narcotic Wasteland’s latest evolution.

Recommended for fans of Nile, Suffocation, Dying Fetus, Incantation, Cannibal Corpse, Dark Funeral, Immolation, and Gorguts. Listen to “Fentanyl Zombie Apocalypse” at the following links:

ATER Release Cover Of TYPE O NEGATIVE’s “My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend”

Chile’s heavy ensemble ATER present their interpretation of TYPE O NEGATIVE’s “My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend”, released via Torque Records. The band’s shadowy sound combines extreme metal and gothic rock, seeing ATER unveil a dark and heavy take on TYPE O NEGATIVE’s iconic track.

ATER’s frontman Fernando Bühring comments: “I was introduced to Type O Negative by my older brother back when I was in my early teens. I was immediately hooked, and they have been at the top of my favorite bands list and are great inspiration for me and the music I write with ATER to this day.

Making our own rendition of ‘My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend’ was a lot of fun. The whole process took just a couple of days. I demo’d the whole thing during the course of a morning. Vincent laid down the drums quickly and we kept the rest from the demo. We also invited fellow guitar player and producer Tebby Muñoz to do the solo on this one. Personally I’m not into making covers much at all, but when I realized October Rust was turning 30, I wanted to celebrate with making a tribute to it. We will probably never do a cover again, so here ya go!.”

About ATER:
Based out of Santiago, Chile, extreme metal act ATER unveiled their debut album Eternal Gray Spiral in 2018 through Insania Recordings. The band’s sophomore album Somber arrived in 2024 via Torque Records, with 2025 seeing the release of singles, “The Fall” and “Venus”.

Describing their sound as Dark Metal or Extreme Dark Metal, ATER‘s music is constructed primarily from extreme metal and gothic rock. Their production feels both modern and organic, with composer Fernando building songs around the guitars and bass often leading to centered bass parts in the mix. Thematically, ATER‘s music is introspective, open and honest in its emotional delivery. ATER explore gothic romanticism with an updated, modern perspective.

ATER have traversed across global stages including European tours: Epic Prophecy Europe 2024 (BATUSHKA, VLTIMAS, GOD DETHRONED, ATER), Beyond The Black Tour Europe 2025 (VENOM INC, KRISIUN, HATE, ATER), and Morbidfest Tour Europe 2025 (POSSESSED, TERRORIZER, SUICIDAL ANGELS, NIGHTFALL, ATER). In 2025 alone, ATER performed an impressive 110 shows including national support for CRADLE OF FILTH in Santiago, Chile, and Turock Festival, Essen, Germany.

PERPETUAL PARADOX Share New Song, “Source of Hate” ~ New EP May Misery Befall You Out August 28

Posted in Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , on August 18, 2026 by Metal Odyssey

London technical metal unit PERPETUAL PARADOX have launched the newest single off their forthcoming EP,  May Misery Befall You.

Source of Hate” is among the EP’s more direct and venomous tracks, built around big, punishing riffs rather than guitar fireworks. This approach allowed drummer Harry Cook to go absolutely feral, while the track’s slow, heavy callout is designed for the room to cave in.

Lyrically, the track digs into what happens when people are pushed so far that hate becomes the only thing they know how to give back.

“‘Source of Hate’ was written about the cycle of hate represented as a disease or parasite growing inside somebody,” comments vocalist Adrian Caucelo. “The body horror imagery is there to make hatred feel alive, like something feeding on you and reshaping who you are over time. At the start the hate feels external, like something forced onto somebody else, but by the end the character fully becomes it – ‘I am the source of hate.’ The song is also about people who constantly push and provoke others until eventually they create the exact anger and violence they were feeding in the first place. The ending line ‘you’ll choke on it yourself’ is basically the cycle continuing again instead of ever truly ending.”

May Misery Befall You is a five-song rager pulls PERPETUAL PARADOX back towards a riff-first approach to songwriting – technical death metal with blast beats, shred and melody, without letting the technicality take center stage. After the broader sprawl of their 2025 full-length, Deathwish, the band sought to make something more focused and unified, where riffs, solos, breakdowns and stronger compositional turns feel like proper sections rather than ideas stitched together in the studio.

May Misery Befall You is due out on August 28 via Bleeding Art Collective.

Built around heavy, emotionally charged songwriting, the band have released several EPs, toured across the UK and Europe, and earned support from BBC Radio 1, Kerrang! and Metal Hammer.

Their debut album Deathwish marked a major step up, sharpening their sound and cementing their reputation for intense, technically driven modern metal.

Now, PERPETUAL PARADOX enter a new chapter with the release of their latest EP, May Misery Befall You. Darker, heavier and more focused, it captures a band pushing further into themes of grief, trauma and resilience, while continuing to build serious momentum.
