Hailing from the original era that spawned Death Metal, Sadistic Vision has spanned over three decades with their brand of “Traditional” style of Death Metal. Destroyer of All Dreams consists of five brutal tracks that represent a true homage to the roots of the sound that makes them SadisticVision.
The goal of this new EP is to give an insight of imaginative mental progressions that speak to the violent dispositions that come with murder, destruction, depressed and revengefully liberating musicality while maintaining true to the original sound of the band’s persona.
“We are truly grateful and excited to be working with our friends at Boris Records on this one. We’re looking forward to being a part of the Boris Records family.” — Sadistic Vision
“We feel that with today’s death metal consisting of so many bands that are quick to be trendy and stake a claim on the phrase “old-school” death metal that we would like to set ourselves apart from that. In saying that we are ‘traditional’ death metal, we are from the originating times of the style, and are still influenced and inspired by it both as individual and collective musicians.”

New Album “The Future Remains In Oblivion” Out Now!
Rimouski, Quebec’s Vortex announces they will be hitting the road for show dates across Eastern Canada this coming Fall 2023 in support of their latest album “The Future Remains In Oblivion” released this past June. The band will be touring from the months of September to January performing across Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick, and PEI where they will be joined by Aeternam, Serene Dark, Strigampire (2023 Wacken Metal Battle Canada Champions), and Beyond Fiction on select dates.
Vortex‘s third epic concept album is set to aggressive and beautiful orchestral melodic death metal with hints of black metal. Each song on “The Future Remains In Oblivion” is one chapter in their well-written sci-fi tale and there is a build-up in intensity and emotion that goes along with the storyline and the lyrics as you traverse the album. They share their thoughts:
“This is an orchestral death metal album with plenty of heavy riffing and melodies, technical vocals, and epic soloing. Some of the songs are riff-oriented and some others had the orchestra and melodies written before the drums and the guitars. We wrote all the lyrics before the music to make sure that it would fit the feel and emotion of each song/part of the story. When we start writing a song, we know exactly what feeling and emotion we are aiming at, it’s a good way to push ourselves creatively and write thoughtful music.”
Those familiar with the previous albums will note that they were more on the ambient/dramatic side. The new album’s songs are still melodic/orchestral but much more aggressive and some of them have a black metal influence. Vortex’s goal was to create songs that would have a greater impact on their live shows, and these aggressive songs will work well live. They feel the album is a good combination of aggression/melody, and ugliness/beauty.
Creativity and storytelling are the key tenets of Vortex. Their masterful lyric writing is equally matched with their prowess in devising riffs, and orchestrations. They will transport the listener into a new world and are recommended for fans of Lorna Shore, Dimmu Borgir, and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

Santa Fe death metal practitioners STREETTOMBS today unleash their new video for “Diseased Existence.” The track comes by way of their debut full-length, Reclusive Decay, released early this year via Carbonized Records.
Forged in the flames of the legendary underground venue, The Cave, in 2017 where they hosted numerous shows for the DIY punk/metal community of Santa Fe and surrounding cities, the STREET TOMBS collective has released three demos since 2018. Combining the death metal grit of early Sepultura and Bolt Thrower with the rabid d-beat/street punk of Discharge and G.B.H., Reclusive Decay presents a unified vision for all that is dark, heavy, and fast. As death and disease rage through our modern world, STREET TOMBS rip the abyss of suffering.

‘Concordat (The Pact) I’ Video Now Playing + Preorders Available
Death metal icons INCANTATION will unleash their new album, Unholy Deification, via Relapse Records on August 25th, today revealing the record’s artwork, track listing, preorders, and first single/video!
INCANTATION frontman John McEntee comments, “I’m not interested in playing it safe. I think other people feel that there are limits to what we do. However, I don’t see it that way. If it feels right, then it’s INCANTATION. The songs we write are an honest expression of ourselves. When people hear the new album, I hope they think, ‘Why are these guys so pissed off?!’ Rage gives focus, which is why this album turned out the way it did.”
Watch INCANTATION’s“Concordat (The Pact) I” music video, directed by The C.O.I.N., at THIS LOCATION.
Physical Unholy Deification preorders are available via Relapse.com HERE. Digital downloads/streaming are available HERE.
INCANTATION‘s sepulchral pandemonium is visually enhanced by award-winning artist and longstanding collaborator Eliran Kantor (Immolation, Kreator, Cavalera, and more.) The end result is an interpretation of Italian Renaissance masters but thrust into INCANTATION‘s cauldron of chromatic malice.
Unholy Deification Track Listing:
Offerings (The Swarm) IV
Concordat (The Pact) I
Chalice (Vessel Consanguineous) VIII
Homunculus (Spirit Made Flesh) IX
Invocation (Chthonic Merge) X
Megaron (Sunken Chamber) VI
Convulse (Words Of Power) III
Altar (Unify In Carnage) V
Exile (Defy The False) II
Circle (Eye of Ascension) VII
Edified over three-plus decades of experience, Unholy Deification is INCANTATION’s thirteenth full-length album. Validated by peers seasoned and new, INCANTATION is more vital than ever. The lineup, featuring founding guitarist/vocalist John McEntee, drummer Kyle Severn, bassist Chuck Sherwood, and guitarist Luke Shively, displays death metal know-how and the power of determination.
Lyrically, Unholy Deification originates with Sherwood. An avid reader and occult logician, the INCANTATION bassist wanted to capture a fully realized concept of evolution through enlightenment. Expect thought-provoking, historically derived intellection. The mortal-to-deity narrative interacts with the merciless musical conflagration of hard-hitting tracks such as “Concordat (The Pact) I,” “Homunculus (Spirit Made Flesh) IX,” and “Invocation (Chthonic Merge) X”. Make no mistake – the ferocious new album, featuring guests Jeff Beccera (Possessed), Henry Veggian (ex-Revenant), and Dan Vadim Von (Morbid Angel), is pure death metal.
Destruction reigns this November when the MassDestruction Metal Fest returns to Atlanta, GA. This year’s lineup threatens to be the heaviest to date, with appearances by Coven, Immolation, Autopsy, Pig Destroyer, Incantation, and more.
The fest runs November 3 – 5 at The Loft @ Center Stage in Atlanta. Check out the teaser video at this location.
Fest organizer Cody Martin comments on this year’s event:
“Mass Destruction Metal Fest started as a passion project to bring genre pioneers and the old guard along with fresh new bands to Atlanta, and some rare international treats that wouldn’t make it to our city otherwise. We’re now into our sixth year and have held true to that ethos.”
“This year we booked one of my all-time favorite bands, Autopsy! It’s unreal to be in contact with Chris (Drums/Vocals–who also had a stint in a ‘lil ole band named DEATH!) and then have him reach out ecstatic with the news of us booking Coven. It truly is magical when the bands are just as excited as the promoters who are just as excited as the fans.”
“We host Mass Destruction Metal Fest at The Loft @ Center Stage, which we feel allows for a more intimate experience for diehard fans and bands. You’re almost guaranteed to see one of the guys from Immolation or Incantation hanging around the venue before their sets. You’ll see some of the younger guys in bands that played the first day going ape-shit in the pit for Autopsy the following day. Atlanta is THE place to be the first weekend of each November.”
The daily lineups for Mass Destruction VI are as follows:
Every path encounters a river too arduous to cross. Its flowing water wash away the burden and cleanses what cannot be carried away. What secrets could be unlocked, what could possible be discovered when one encounters the source?”
The positive reception of their debut serves as an impetus for the southern European group to continue to improve and present an even stronger sophomore album. AETHERIAN do not rest on their laurels. No sooner said than done.
In 2016 they recorded a new single alongside a video clip called “The Rain” which drew attention and signified the beginning of their journey. ”The Rain” made a huge impact in a very short time on social media and the underground scene, currently reaching 3.5 million views on YouTube.
Listening to “At Storm’s Edge”, one notices several things: the musicians individually act both more precisely and more playfully. At the same time, the group play sounds even more exciting and distinctive. Especially the majestic melodic guitar leads, the driving drumming and the throaty growls stand out.
In the compositional area AETHERIAN apply their storyteller approach variable and song-serving. Despite considerable playing times, the album’s eight tracks come across as focused and urgent. Acoustic accents and a fine feeling for special atmospheres additionally distinguish the playing of the five Greeks.
NEW ALBUM AT STORM’S EDGE JULY 14TH
The second full length of the band from Athens is called “At Storm’s Edge” and was recorded at Devasoundz studios and produced by Fotis Benardo (Nightfall, ex- Septic Flesh). AETHERIAN are not content with a spectator role on the sidelines, but pushes forward into the center in every respect and goes into full swing. Melo-Death fans beware – don’t be caught off guard again!

MUTUAL HOSTILITY will be releasing their new album, “Inhuman Anguish”, on June 28th 2023 via Lethal Scissor Records, making it the band’s debut to the label. Toilet Ov Hell premiered the first single “Faces in the Walls” at THIS LOCATION.
Following the good feedback received for the “Sacred Propaganda” EP, MUTUAL HOSTILITY waste no time continuing their attack and return with their first full-length. The band have thankfully made no great changes to their juggernaut sound. Dynamic, utterly crushing, immediately memorable, the band’s death metal stick to its guns without de-escalating the branded frenetic motion and interminable aggression.
Drawing inspiration from bands such as Suffocation, Deicide and Gorguts, MUTUAL HOSTILITY create a sound distinctly modern but with an appreciation for the old school death metal legends, all executed with near surgical meticulousness.
Line-up: Dan Gates – Guitars, Bass Adam Rogers – Vocals Eric Frabotta – drums
MUTUAL HOSTILITY is a death metal band formed in January of 2020 in Northeast Ohio, USA. Merging many metal genres into the fold, Adam Rogers (vocals), Dan Gates (guitars & bass) and Eric Frabotta (drums) offer a blend of hostility and intensity. Most of 2020 was spent writing and recording at each others home during the pandemic shutdown. Soon after the band released a lyric video for the song “Pyramid of Hate” which gained some momentum and eventually led up to the EP titled “Sacred Propaganda” being released in November 2020 on the Cult of Parthenope record label. In 2022 nine new tracks were written and recorded for the first full-length album.

THE GLORIOUS DEAD is a Northern Michigan band that consists of members of other such notable acts as Pan, Feast Eternal, and Reasonable Deception. The members have gathered to revel in the cathartic release of creating death metal in the old spirit and after the positive acclaim surrounding their Into Lifeless Shrines debut full-length on Bindrune Recordings, the band spent the entirety of the pandemic creating another album worth of material with the intention of moving forward creatively, without losing sight of their core sound.
With their second full-length, Cemetery Paths, time, evolution and dedication to their old death metal influences have found the band building upon the foundation set by their debut, with more speed, doom, and melodic elements that feel like a progression while never losing sight of memorable riffs and songwriting. A lot of thought and care have gone into these songs and the band is thrilled to share their brand of filthy Northern Death Metal with those who heed the mortal yearning for the grave.
Cemetery Paths was recorded in 2022 at AV Studios in Traverse City, Michigan by Andy Vanguilder, mixed by Spenser Morris, and Mastered by Andrew DeCagna (Ironflame/Nechochwen) at Sacred Sound Studios.

Lexington (KY) – The war machine known as Tombstalker stirs once again and lumbers forth to ravage the planet with new darkened hymns of chaos and bloodshed! New EP Age Of Darkness will be released on 12-inch vinyl, and cassette formats May 29 via Boris Records. The CD version will be released by Morbid AggressorProductions. Age of Darkness was recorded at Sneak Attack Studios.
Opening track “Astral Combat” is available now at the following locations:
Age Of Darkness showcases Tombstalker‘s maturity and evolved songwriting. Hark! On the eve of the band’s 15 year anniversary a new age of darkness dawns…
Now featuring a brand new lineup, including additional lead guitar, as well as a new drummer, Tombstalker is more vicious than ever and poised to show the world the meaning of hammer-crushing death once again.
Tombstalker will launch the ’15 Years of Carnage and Chaos Tour’ in June (scroll to the bottom for tour poster). Dates are as follows:
June 5 – Lexington, KY June 7 – Indianapolis, IN June 8 – Cincinnati, OH June 9 – Louisville, KY June 10 – Atlanta, GA
BIO: Tombstalker’s story began in 2008 in Lexington, KY when several of the founding members were still teenagers. Throughout their early days as a band they released several demos, EPs, and eventually a debut full-length in 2015. During this time they scoured the American underground circuit setting out on multiple nationwide tours as well as festival appearances cementing themselves as true warriors.
Stylistically, they forged a distinctive sound heavily steeped in Scandinavian style black death as well as d-beat crust punk; not a common combination found on American soil thus setting them apart from their peers in many respects.
Around 2017, Tombstalker entered an extended hiatus with zero activity due to lineup complications. Much doubt would be cast in the coming years as to whether they would return. That doubt has been exstinguished with Age ofDarkness.
New Claymation Video For “No Survivors” ft. CARNIFEX’s Scott Ian Lewis
Blending black metal/horror theatrics with intense death metal style blast beats and shredding guitar along with brutal slamming breakdowns and catchy melodies, Toledo, OH symphonic deathcore band The Convalescence announces they will be hitting the road this June for the “One of The Dead Tour” with support from Knoxville, TN’s Summoner’s Circle and Raleigh, NC’s WoR. The tour will kick off with a hometown headlining show for The Convalescence at the Toledo Death Fest on June 3rd and see the tour wrap up on June 24th in Battle Creek, MI. (all dates listed below).
In additional news, The Convalescencehave unleashed their latest single “No Survivors” featuring Scott Ian Lewis of Carnifex with a Claymation music video, which can be viewed at https://youtu.be/YQVSCu57aSs
Vocalist Keith Wampler details the single and the band’s plans for an upcoming album:
“The single is one of the hardest-hitting songs we’ve ever released. The lyrics and video were inspired by the Alien films, and having Scott doing some nasty guest vocals really helped give it the brutality we were looking for. We played it live throughout our recent European Tour and absolutely loved the energy it brings to the stage. We’re looking forward to this one being a part of our live show for many tours to come. This new album is basically like one big horror movie, song by song each one tells a story. Each one is brutal in its own way.”
The Convalescence expects the album will be received well by the fans, as they do their very best to step things up on each record. They worked with producer Jason Suecof on this one at Audiohammer Studios in Florida who has worked with most of their favorite bands (The Black Dahlia Murder, Carnifex, Deicide, Job For A Cowboy) and they were beyond stoked he was down to do the recording with them. In their opinion, they’ve created the heaviest The Convalescence album so far. The full-length was mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy) and is expected for release summer of 2023.
Filthy, brutal, and symphonic, The Convalescence is recommended for fans of Carnifex, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Chelsea Grin.

Over the last several years I have sold many CDs that I no longer listen to and were just taking up space. It’s all about managing the physical space that I have. No regrets and the money I made was useful.
However, once a collector always a collector! Since January of this year, I have steadily purchased new CDs to add to my collection. Here are a handful of the CDs I’ve purchased this far in 2023. Please feel free to comment on mine and your CD buys.
SINISTERAggressive Measures – (1998) – Legendary Death Metal from the NetherlandsJERRY ONLY – ANTI-HERO(2022)SLAYER – LIVE UNDEAD (1984)
I LOVE DEATH METAL!! With that said, SINISTER was a must purchase. I never owned SLAYERLIVE UNDEAD on CD, crazy as that sounds. I did own it on cassette and had it for decades. Anything MISFITS and take my money! The first ever JERRY ONLY solo album really, really ROCKS!! Holy shit, it ROCKS!!
I haven’t kept up with buying all of the Yngwie Malmsteen releases over the decades. There are so many too. So I decided to buy the Yngwie Malmsteen CD box set to re-energize my loyalty to his mind bending guitar virtuosity. Man, back in the 1980’s Yngwie was my ultimate Metal hero.
