On June 6th, 2000 – The phenomenal IRON MAIDEN perform in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia; one of many dates on The Brave New World Tour. Long live IRON MAIDEN!

On June 6th, 1992 – Guns N’ Roses’ performed a concert at Paris’ Hippodrome de Vincennes. This Rock historic concert featured guest appearances from Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Jeff Beck, Lenny Kravitz and Soundgarden. This concert was aired live on pay-per-view in North America. Holy moly and miraculous macaroni!

On June 6th, 2015 – KISS brings their 40th Anniversary Tour to the massive Rock In Vienna Festival tonight! Yes, KISS are the headliner. Whoa!

STEVE VAI

On June 6th, 1960, Steve Vai was born in New York. Happy Birthday, Stev Vai! Whoa and hell yeah! Steve Vai is a world-class guitarist and incredibly successful solo artist. Steve Vai has performed and/or recorded with the following bands: Whitesnake, David Lee Roth, Alcatrazz, 777, The Classified, The Out Band, Frank Zappa, Morning Thunder and Axis.

If you are unfamiliar with Steve Vai, please familiarize yourself with his music. This is a tried and true guitarist that has mastered his own signature sound that is unlike any other. I feel blessed to have seen Steve Vai perform live; he is just a remarkable guitarist. Metal be thy name. – Stone

On June 5th, 1976 – Heart had their hit single, Crazy On You, ranked at #35, on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. This song is featured on Heart’s debut studio album from 1976: Dreamboat Annie. Long live Heart!

On June 5th, 1992 – Aerosmith had their hit single, Livin’ On The Edge, ranked at #18, on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. Holy wow! This song is featured on Aerosmith’s eleventh studio album from 1993: Get A Grip. Shown above is the limited and numbered picture disc for this song.

On June 5th, 1992 – The fabulous IRON MAIDEN kicked off their tour in support of their ninth studio album: Fear of the Dark. This tour began in Reykjavik, Iceland at this venue: Laugardalshöll. Whoa, man! IRON MAIDEN forever!

On June 5th, 1993 – The iconic KISS debuted at #9 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, with their third live album: Alive III. This album was recorded from concerts held in Cleveland, Ohio, Detroit, Michigan and Indianapolis, Indiana. Alive III earned the status of certified Gold, the following year. Long live KISS!

NICKO MCBRAIN

On June 5th, 1952, Nicko McBrain was born in England! Happy Birthday, Nicko McBrain! Hell and yeah! Nicko McBrain is famously known as being the long-time drummer for the super legendary IRON MAIDEN. Nicko McBrain is also a former drummer for Pat Travers.

On This Day In METAL History – June 4th… From SWEET To NEKROGOBLIKON

On June 4th, 1977 – The legendary Sweet hits #151 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, in the United States, with their fifth studio album: Off the Record. Man, that is some fine album artwork! Plus, album covers weren’t created with the help of computer design programs back then either; that is all done by hand with the use of an air brush! Old school! Long live the legacy of SWEET!

On June 4th, 1988 – The mighty SCORPIONS had their tenth studio album, Savage Amusement, ranked at #5 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart. This would be the last top ten album for the SCORPIONS. I love this SCORPIONS album!

My favorite songs on Savage Amusement are: Don’t Stop At The Top and Rhythm Of Love. It doesn’t matter if the SCORPIONS no longer hit the top ten in album sales; this incredible band still kicks absolute and ultra potent Metal ass to this very day! Metal Be Thy Name!

On June 4th, 1990 – MTV debuts Totally Pauly, a comedy video show starring comedian Pauly Shore. Holy moly!

On June 4th, 2015 – The new studio album from Nekrogoblikon, Heavy Meta, is ranked at #16, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. I highly recommend this album; this is Goblin Metal that I cannot get enough of! Whoa and hell yes!

On June 4th, 2015 – The iconic KISS are to perform at Arena Leipzig, in Leipzig, Germany. Whoa, man! Lucky Leipzig.

Lynyrd Skynyrd To Release 2 CD/DVD Live Set “One More For The Fans” On July 24th, Feat. Star-Studded Guests – Concert To Air On AXS TV July 19

On one special night last November, an extraordinary collection of artists came together at the historic Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA to perform and celebrate the songs of Lynyrd Skynyrd, one of the most influential bands of our time. This unique concert event centered around performances by Lynyrd Skynyrd, including a special rendition of “Travelin’ Man” with Johnny Van Zant singing along with an archival video of his late brother, Ronnie performing, as well as a rousing rendition of “Sweet Home Alabama” with Skynyrd inviting the entire star-studded line-up up on stage to perform alongside them.

The show will be available July 24, 2015 as a two CD/DVD set titled Lynyrd Skynyrd – One More For The Fans on Loud & Proud Records in partnership with Blackbird Presents. The band will also be hitting the road this spring and summer (tour dates below) and will return to the CMT Crossroads stage for a taping with Brantley Gilbert.

One More For The Fans features performances by Lynyrd Skynyrd as well as music legends and young talent, culled from multiple genres including Classic Rock, Country and Americana with Trace Adkins, Alabama, Gregg Allman, Blackberry Smoke, Cheap Trick, Charlie Daniels, Peter Frampton, Gov’t Mule, Warren Haynes, John Hiatt, Randy Houser, Jason Isbell, Jamey Johnson, Aaron Lewis, moe., O.A.R., Robert Randolph and Donnie Van Zant all coming together to perform songs from Lynyrd Skynyrd’s extensive catalog of music.

“Hearing all of these incredible musicians sing our songs was unforgettable,” says Gary Rossington. “It was a really special night and I’m so happy our fans will now get to enjoy the show at home.”

As part of the campaign to save the Fox Theatre from demolition, Lynyrd Skynyrd recorded their 1976 live album, One More From The Road, at the landmark theatre. The title Lynyrd Skynyrd – One More For The Fans! was inspired by that legendary album’s title.

Joining in the celebration of the legendary band is AXS TV as it serves as the official broadcaster of Lynyrd Skynyrd – One More For The Fans. AXS TV will premiere the concert event on Sunday, July 19 at 8:00pm EST / 5:00pm PST, allowing fans nationwide to enjoy these remarkable performances.

On June 3rd, 1970 – Deep Purple released their fourth studio album: Deep Purple In Rock aka In Rock. This was Deep Purple’s first album to feature the classic Mark II lineup of vocalist Ian Gillan, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, keyboardist Jon Lord, drummer Ian Paice and Roger Glover on bass.

On June 3rd, 2013 – White Wizzard released their third full-length studio album in Europe: The Devil’s Cut. The duo guitar wizardry of Will Wallner and Jake Dreyer are prominently featured on this album. Hell and yeah, so buy this album!

LIBERTY N’ JUSTICE the Christian influenced melodic rock project with a 20 year history has signed with the independent label HighVolMusic for their next release titled ‘Better Than Maroon 5’.

LIBERTY N’ JUSTICE has been turning out some of the most-talked-about records in the melodic rock market. LIBERTY N’ JUSTICE’s last all-star album, ‘The Cigar Chronicles’, was their best yet. It featured 26 songs and over 70 guest musicians.

The upcoming release ‘Better Than Maroon 5’ is the second album since LNJ transformed from a project to full-fledged band. Founder Justin Murr is joined on this new record with Larry Worley formerly of Fear Not and Brent Stortzum.

In the past, LNJ’s projects have become a who’s who in rock music, featuring many artists in Rock N’ Roll. This next chapter will add another dimension to the already solidified legacy of LIBERTY N’ JUSTICE giving the rock world another world-class release.

RENOWNED BASS PLAYER – STU HAMM – ANNOUNCES EAST COAST TOUR DATES

Having stunned audiences across the world with his innovative playing, STU HAMM has made a name as the go-to bass player for the world’s great musicians. Time spent playing with Steve Vai and Joe Satriani has cemented his place among the greats and gave HAMM the platform to display his pioneering bass techniques to adoring crowds worldwide. Now, promoting the release of his newest solo album, The Book Of Lies, HAMM takes to the road with new music and will also debut his petite suite for solo bass.

The breadth of HAMM’s range is legendary and is what is at the heart of The Book Of Lies. The title track introduces a fine style, complete with a subtle blues bass-line, later evolving into a funk jam with horns and guitar. “Back To Shabalalla” owes a debt to the loping, infectious rhythms of Afrobeat, while “Etude” is a classical piece of the type that made HAMM famous. The amazing final piece, a seven-minute epic titled “L.S.D.” ranges from a Beatles homage to a fully-leaded bass shredfest.

A gut rumbling mix of new and old hits, mixed with HAMM’s trademark humor, make for a unique show like no other. The Tour will begin on July 6 in Largo, FL and wind its way up the east coast to a grand finish at The Iridium in New York on July 16th. Joining Stu in The Stu Hamm Band are Alex Skolnick (Testament) on guitar and Joel Taylor (Allan Holdsworth, Al DiMeola) on drums.

On May 31st, 1975 – The hit single from Bad Company, Good Lovin’ Gone Bad, is ranked at #36, on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart in the United States. Right on! This song is featured on the second studio album from Bad Company, released in 1975: Straight Shooter.

On May 31st, 1976 – The Who entered the Guinness Book of World Records for (at that time) performing the loudest concert in history. This Rock historic concert took place at England’s Charlton Athletic’s Ground. The official readings were: 76,000 watts at 120 decibels from 50 meters away. This enormous record would lasted for close to a decade. Holy moly! Holy moly again!

SOS – NYC-Based Heavy Groove Maniacs Celebrate Twenty Year Anniversary In 2015; New City-Wide Live Assault Confirmed

New York City’s heavy-hitting groove quartet SOS is celebrating twenty raging years together as a band in 2015, and is currently booking shows across the city throughout June in celebration of crushing right through their two decade mark.

Following the release of their fifth full-length, Strength And Conditioning, SOS performed on the street at the massive NYC Marathon for the fifteenth consecutive year, amidst a widespread rash of other performances. Continuing the live mayhem, the band will play on their home turf on Friday, June 5th with Warrior Soul and a host of other support acts, followed by a free, all-ages, outdoor, matinee show at Tompkins Square Park on June 13th with an assortment of friend acts. June 21st will see SOS hammering Astoria Skate Park in Queens with another free, all-ages, outdoor, matinee show.

On This Day In METAL History – May 28th… From US FESTIVAL ’83 To BATTLECROSS

On May 28th, 1983 – The US Festival began the first of three days in San Bernardino, California; this was New Wave Day. Heavy Metal Day and Rock Day were to follow, respectively. This 3 day festival was the brainchild of Steve Wozniak.

Among the very many performers spanning the entire festival were: Van Halen, David Bowie, The Clash, Joe Walsh, The Pretenders, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Scorpions, Triumph, Mötley Crüe, Quiet Riot, U2, Missing Persons, Stray Cats, INXS, and Stevie Nicks. Amazing!! By the way, I was 17 years old in ’83. Whoa.

On May 28th, 1988 – The amazing Iron Maiden peaked at #12 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart with their seventh studio album: Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. This album went on to achieve Gold sales status in the United States. The great Derek Riggs created the album cover art for this splendid album too. Whoa!! Long live Iron Maiden!

On May 28th, 2015 – The new studio album from Detroit’s BATTLECROSS is ranked at #47 on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Rise to Power will be released worldwide via Metal Blade Records, on August 21st, 2015. Hail BATTLECROSS!

On May 28th, 2015 – Whitesnake’s new studio album of Deep Purple cover songs, The Purple Album, debuts at #87 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart. Long live Whitesnake and David Coverdale! Hell and yeah, man!!

FAITH NO MORE’S “SOL INVICTUS” LANDS ATOP INTERNATIONAL CHARTS; U.S. DEBUT AT #6 ON BILLBOARD TOP ALBUMS, #14 ON BILLBOARD TOP 200

May 27, 2015, SAN FRANCISCO – Faith No More’s Sol Invictus, the Bay Area band’s first new album in eighteen years, has landed atop international charts with the ten-track release at #2 in Australia, #4 in Germany, #6 in the UK and #6 in the United States (#14 on Billboard’s Top 200).

“What this tells me,” said Faith No More founder and bass player Bill Gould, “is that there is a need out there; people want to hear things that exist outside the mold. It makes me feel grateful and it gives me hope.”

“We are honored to be a part of the FNM team and very proud of the success of Sol Invictus,” added Greg Werckman, co-owner of Ipecac Recordings. “Of course, none of this would have happened without the band delivering such a fantastic record and them having faith in us to handle it properly.” The album was released as a joint partnership between the Faith No More’s own Reclamation Recordings and Ipecac.

In the United States the album also debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Hard Music and Independent Album charts as well as #2 on both the Rock and Alternative Album charts.

Faith No More returns to North America this summer, the band launches their European tour on Friday.

On May 27th, 1999 – RUSH became the first Rock band to be awarded a star on the Canadian Walk of Fame, in Toronto, Canada. Whoa!

On May 27th, 2014 – Legendary guitarist Marty Friedman released his studio album, Inferno, via Prosthetic Records. A few featured musical guests on Inferno are: Jason Becker, Danko Jones and Alexi Laiho.

On May 27th, 2015 – The forthcoming studio album from Australia’s Thy Art Is Murder is ranked at #20, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. The title of this new album is: Holy War. A North American release date of June 30th, 2015 is scheduled for Holy War’s release. Whoa!

On May 26th, 1973 – The Edgar Winter Group hits #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with their hard rockin’ instrumental: Frankenstein. Hell and yeah! This grand song is featured on the third studio album from The Edgar Winter Group, released in 1972: They Only Come Out At Night. Whoa!

On May 26th, 1973 – The super legendary Deep Purple released their iconic hit single: Smoke on the Water. This amazing song went on to peak at #4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. This song is featured on the sixth studio album from Deep Purple, released in 1972: Machine Head. Long live Deep Purple!

On May 26th, 1984 – Scorpions hit #25 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with their Heavy Metal classic: Rock You Like a Hurricane. This enormously popular song is featured on the ninth studio album from Scorpions, released in 1984: Love At First Sting. Long live Scorpions!

On This Day In METAL History – May 25th… From THE KINKS To DIO And Happy Birthday KLAUS MEINE!

On May 25th, 1965 – Dave Davies, guitarist for the The Kinks, stumbled onto drummer Mick Avory’s cymbal and was subsequently knocked unconscious, during a concert in London. Whoa and WTF!? I’ve always loved The Kinks; true Hard Rock and Heavy Metal pioneers.

On May 25th, 1969 – The Who and Led Zeppelin performed on the same bill for the only time in Rock History, at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, USA. Led Zeppelin opened for The Who, by the way. Whoa, man! Check out the ticket prices (above) for this unbelievable historic event!! OMFG!! Notice on the ticket stub (above) the misspelling of Led Zeppelin. LOL!! This is an event that I would go to in my time machine; if I had a time machine, that is. I NEED a time machine! Now!! Who is with me?!

On May 25th, 1974 – Sweet hits #27 in the United Kingdom with their second studio album: Sweet Fanny Adams.

On May 25th, 1983 – The debut studio album from the iconic DIO released: Holy Diver. This enormously grand Heavy Metal album went on to peak at #56 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart. Holy Diver would go on to sell one million (plus) copies in the United States alone. Rest in peace, Ronnie James Dio.

KLAUS MEINE

On May 25th, 1948, Klaus Meine was born in Germany. Happy Birthday, Klaus Meine! Klaus Meine is world-famous as the vocalist, co-songwriter, lyricist and classic member of SCORPIONS. Klaus Meine has also worked with many other musicians projects over the years, including Tobias Sammet’s Avantasia.

On This Day In METAL History – May 24th… From The Who To Metallica

On May 24th, 1969 – The Who peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with their hit: Pinball Wizard. This marked the fourth top forty single for The Who, in the United States. Whoa! The Who forever! Yeah!

On May 24th, 1978 – The Van Halen self-titled debut album was certified Gold by the RIAA. This incredible album went on to sell 10 million (plus) copies in the United States alone. Whoa, man! Long live Van Halen!

On May 24th, 1991 – Guns N’ Roses began their Use Your Illusion Tour at the Alpine Valley Music Theater, in East Troy, Wisconsin. This GNR tour went on until July of 1993. Um, who cares? I sure don’t.

On May 24th, 2005 – Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne put their Beverly Hills home up for sale. This was the same home featured on their hit reality television show: The Osbournes. Who eventually purchased this famous and very expensive house? None other than Pop star Christina Aguilera. In other words, who cares.

On May 24th, 2015 – The newly released EP from California’s INCUBUS debuts at #1, on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart. Whoa, again!

On May 24th, 2015 – Metallica Master Of Puppets is ranked at #149, on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart. This amazing album has spent 83 non-consecutive weeks on this chart, peaking at #29. Master Of Puppets is the third studio album from Metallica, released back in 1986. I love this Metallica album… just as much as I love to breathe. Metal be thy name! – Stone
