AMON AMARTH – Announces US Tour With Goatwhore

After touring the world this past year in support of their latest album, Jomsviking, AMON AMARTH will head back out on the road this spring for a US tour with labelmates Goatwhore! Starting April 30th and running through May 21st, the journey will also see AMON AMARTH making appearances at some of the country’s premier music festivals including: Welcome To Rockville, Carolina Rebellion, Dark Lord Day, Northern Invasion, and Rock On The Range.

BLASPHEMER – Enlists Ekpyrosis’ Nicolò Brambilla On 2nd Guitar

Italy’s BLASPHEMER have announced the addition to its ranks of Nicolò Brambilla (EKPYROSIS) on 2nd Guitar. The band released the following statement about the new member:

RITUAL OF ODDS – New Studio Album “Ritual Of 9” Releases On February 3rd

Melodic Death Metal outfit Ritual of Odds from Greece have signed a worldwide deal with Swimming With Sharks Records. The band’s third studio album ‘Ritual of 9’ was recorded at StudiOdds Recording Studio and was mixed & mastered by John Mcris. The band takes influences from bands such as At The Gates, In Flames, and Carcass and have been called the ‘Melodic Death Metal Masters of Greece’ by Axis of Metal (Canada).

Label founder Noah “Shark” Robertson (Motograter/Ex-The Browning) states: “Patras, Greece… What a great find! The moment I heard “Ritual of 9” I knew this band was something special. They give me the same feeling I got the first time I listened to At The Gates or In Flames. They have all the elements of a melodic death metal powerhouse!”

Ritual of Odds formed in 2003, originally under the moniker Existence Edge, but changed the name in 2005 and began work on their ‘Building up the Underverse’ Demo. In 2008, the band played this material live on stage for the first time and received great reviews, encouraging them to begin working on their debut full length album ‘Underverse’; which was released in early 2010. At the end of that same year, the band recorded their 2nd full length album ‘God is an Atheist’, which was very well received. The band toured Europe and the US, in support of the release, performing with bands such as OMEN (USA), PAUL DI’ANNO (UK), SEPTIC FLESH (GR) and NIGHTRAGE (SW).

The band is often described as Melodic Death Metal, but many influences can be heard. Ritual of Odds have forged a unique sound by infusing elements of thrash, horror and epic metal into their own, creative brand of melodic death.

GHOST SEASON – Debut Album “Like Stars In A Neon Sky” Out 1/27 On Pavement Entertainment

Athens-based Alternative Metal band GHOST SEASON will release its debut album, Like Stars In a Neon Sky, on January 27 via Pavement Entertainment.

The album was co-produced by vocalist J.Loren Wince, from alt-rockers HURT.

“This is what we were waiting for,” said bassist Dorian Gates. “Over the last year we have put our hard work to make this album get to you. And we are blessed and honored to have by our side J Loren from Hurt and the guys at Pavement Entertainment.”

Guitarist Nick Christolis adds: “We blended in our music all of our influences: old meets new, classic meets modern. Thoughts turn into music, music becomes food for thought.”

The twelve-track beast follows the band’s 2014 EP Ghosts Like Her and includes the single “Break My Chains,” which was released in December 2015. Like Stars in a Neon Sky also features an adrenalized rendition of Savage Garden’s pop hit “Break Me Shake Me.”

Revolver Magazine will help give GHOST SEASON a proper introduction to Metal fans with the exclusive premiere of the video for “Fade Away,” set to post on the album’s January 27 release date.

Ron Keel’s Heartfelt Statement On His Wife Renee’s Breast Cancer Diagnosis – How We Can All Help

Many of you already know my wife/partner/best friend Renee Keel has been diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer. She will undergo 4-6 months of chemo which begins next week, followed by extensive surgery including a mastectomy.

We are so very thankful for all the kind words, support, love and outpouring of prayers and well wishes that have come our way.

Renee is the strongest and toughest woman I’ve ever known, and we both remain positive as we begin this battle together. Since we met, she has been my strength and inspiration – if she hadn’t come into my life when she did, there would have been no KEEL reunion, no “Streets of Rock & Roll,” no Metal Cowboy. Now I have the opportunity to prove myself worthy of her love and support.

I plan to aggressively apply all my energy and resources to her treatment and recovery. Obviously I have adopted a new hairstyle to show my support and as a physical and visual representation of what this means to me.

In the weeks and months to come I will be doing everything I can to generate revenue to help pay the massive medical expenses that are quickly piling up. I will be liquidating most of my primary assets, from our Nevada property (10 acres in the Sierra Nevada Mountains) down to every last $5 autographed 8×10 photo I can sell – and everything in between. I will be launching and releasing new musical products, merchandise, and selling unique vintage memorabilia from my career collection. The music will not stop, because she wants me to do what I do – it makes us money and it makes me happy, which in turn makes her happy.

I will also of course be continuing as your Master of Mid-Day Mayhem on KBAD 94.5 Monday-Friday at 10 AM CST, rocking your radio harder and better than ever. I will miss time here and there to be with Renee on the tough days – like next week when her chemotherapy starts – and I thank my amazing co-workers at KBAD for their support and for covering for me on those days.

My endless appreciation goes out to all the fans who have given me the chance to entertain you while living my dream and finding the love of my life. It’s good to know you’ve got my back while Renee and I begin this fight.

KRYSTOS – Announces 3rd Album Release, “Lolth Domain” – EP Drops On February 28th!

A METAL ODYSSEY Update And Hello 2017…

Happy Metal New Year to all! 2016 was an exceptionally busy year for me; I changed my day job along with moving with the family once again. I also grieved for the loss of my Dad; he passed away on December 19th of 2015 and the carry-over of sadness was difficult. Our family move this time however, was to the city where we feel most comfortable and our new (1902) house instantly felt like its’ arms had wrapped around us with welcoming comfort and joy. Our last house felt like it hated our guts and I’m not fooling around by stating that.

2016 kept me busy with many personal challenges to tend to besides the previous mentioned, subsequently I did have to cut back on posting for Metal Odyssey. It happens to the best of us. I look forward to posting a TON MORE than last year, with no life changing obstacles in my path as 2016 had… none that I can see at the moment, that is. Whoa.

As during previous years, I look forward to spreading the Gospel of Metal and Classic Rock in 2017. The 8th year Anniversary of Metal Odyssey will be on March 1st and you’re all invited for the Metal ride! I wish all my loyal subscribers and casual visitors to Metal Odyssey the very best of everything in 2017. Stay true to Metal and it will stay true to you. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone

PARADOX – Reforms With Original Lineup!

German Speed Metal pioneers Paradox are reforming after 28 years with their original line up! Charly Steinhauer (vocals/guitar), Markus Spyth (guitar), Roland Stahl (bass) and Axel Blaha (drums) – this was the original line up for their debut album “Product Of Imagination”, released in 1987.

Soon after, they were called the #1 German newcomer and were record of the month in several print magazines. The second album “Heresy” is also known as an old school Speed Metal classic.

PARADOX will play their official reunion show at German Bang Your Head Festival festival in Balingen (July 12th – 15th 2017) and after that at Harder Than Steel Festival in Dittigheim on September 30th 2017. They will play an old school set-list with songs from the first two albums.

OVERKILL – Thrash Metal Warriors Announce 2017 North American Tour With NILE!

Legendary New Jersey thrashers, OVERKILL, have announced their 2017 North American trek with Egyptian themed Technical Death Metal champions and label mates NILE. The 25-date tour will kick-off on February 14th at The Trocadero in Philadelphia, make stops in Chicago, Anaheim, and Washington, DC before ending at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ.

Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth comments, “Can’t wait to roll ‘the wheel’ down the road. This Feb & Mar, USA, coming to a stage near you! Let’s make it another one to remember! Onward! Upward!”

OVERKILL will be touring in support of their upcoming album, The Grinding Wheel, which will be released February 10th via Nuclear Blast. Recently, the band released the video for Our Finest Hour.

NILE is touring in support of their latest release What Should Not Be Unearthed.

“All of us in NILE are really looking forward to the upcoming USA Tour with OVERKILL. This Tour is going to be Metal as Fuck,” comments NILE Mastermind Karl Sanders.

Immortal starts recording their ninth album in Abyss Studio in January 2017!

“The songs have been ready for some time, but we wanted to record it at the right place and time. We will once again work with Peter Tägtgren at Abyss Studio who produced our four last albums. The band will enter the studio during wintertime to have the right atmosphere. We look forward to record and present the new album to the IMMORTAL hordes sometime in 2017.

COLUMBIA, Maryland. – M3 Rock Festival, the definitive, can’t-miss annual gathering of heavy metal bands and those that love them, will turn back clock to the 1980s once more at Columbia, Maryland’s Merriweather Post Pavilion on Friday, April 28th and Saturday, April 29th. For the first time ever, M3 will expand to a 3rd day to host the new M3 Southern Rock Classic.

Known for its idolized metal bands and colorful, devout audience, the first two days of M3 will once again feature full sets of glam rock and heavy metal hits. The festival will take place on two separate stages, each simulcasting the other, giving fans the option to stay in one seat and watch all the bands as they appear on both stages, or move from stage to stage without missing a note.

M3 is internationally renowned, and has attracted fans from six continents, 10 countries and 40 states. Now in its ninth year, I.M.P. Presents M3 Rock Festival starts with The Official M3 Kix-Off Party, which will get things started Friday, April 28th at 3:30pm. Acts playing Friday night are KIX, Loverboy, Winger, Faster Pussycat, Dangerous Toys, Baton Rouge, and Station, with a special VIP acoustic set by Lita Ford. The full-blown 2017 M3 Rock Festival begins Saturday, April 29th at 10:30am and will include Ratt featuring the original members Pearcy, Demartini and Croucier, Cinderella’s Tom Keifer, Dokken, Warrant, Jack Russell’s Great White, Vixen, Loudness, Danger Danger, Autograph, Bang Tango, Vain, and Mitch Malloy.

CRYSTAL VIPER – To Release New Video Clip And New Single On December 9th!

On December 9th, the Polish Heavy Metallers Crystal Viper will release a video clip to the first single off their new album, entitled “The Witch Is Back”. The video clip has been produced by the Grupa13 production house, which most recently also did the Kreator, Behemoth and Amon Amarth videos. “The Witch Is Back” single will be available as an online stream on Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming services and the digital download will be available on iTunes and Amazon. Fans that will decide to pre-order the digital version of the forthcoming new album, will be able to immediately download “The Witch Is Back” single for free.

CRYSTAL VIPER are returning after a 4 year absence, with a brand new concept album entitled “Queen Of The Witches”, which will be released on February 17, 2017, on AFM Records. The album has been produced by Bart Gabriel (Cirith Ungol, Mythra, Sacred Steel), and engineered and mixed by Mariusz Pietka (Jack Starr’s Burning Starr, Lonewolf).

The album’s cover artwork has been created by the legendary German artist, Andreas Marschall (Running Wild, Blind Guardian, Obituary). “Queen Of The Witches” also features three special guests: the MANOWAR co-founder and guitar hero Ross The Boss, and no less legendary Jeff Dunn (aka Mantas) of Venom / Venom Inc., will appear with guitar solos in two of the songs. Except that, in one of the songs fans will hear a duet of Marta Gabriel and Steve Bettney, vocalist of the NWoBHM cult heroes Saracen.

“Queen Of The Witches” will be available as limited edition vinyl LP (first pressing: 500 copies on white vinyl, gatefold cover), CD, and digital download. The LP and CD versions will include different bonus tracks.
