MUNICIPAL WASTE will release the massively-anticipated 7th studio album, Electrified Brain, on July 1st via Nuclear Blast. The shocking cover artwork by James Bousema.

“It’s in the vein of songs like ‘Headbanger Face Rip’ and ‘Wave of Death’,” Tony Foresta notes. “It’s an inspirational song for our fans to cause bodily harm to themselves, but in a loud and healthy way, of course.”

CREEPING DEATH – Announces North American Headlining Tour With 200 Stab Wounds, Tribal Gaze, And More – Tickets On Sale This Friday!

Following their recent run supporting Carcass and Immolation, CREEPING DEATH will return to the stage this August on a North American headlining tour. The trek begins August 16th in El Paso, Texas, runs through September 18th in Austin, Texas, and includes performances at this year’s edition of Psycho Las Vegas and Full Terror Assault. Support will be provided by 200 Stab Wounds and Tribal Gaze as well as Ingrown, Spirit World, Vomit Forth, Age Of Apocalypse, and labelmates Plague Years on select dates.

Comments the band, “We’re extremely excited to embark on our first headlining tour later this Summer. We can’t wait to hit the road with such an eclectic group of bands. We’ll see you all very soon!”

CREEPING DEATH continues to tour in support of their most recent release The Edge Of Existence EP, unleashed last year via MNRK Heavy. With a nod to crossover masters Iron Age, a bit of the tech-death of Cryptopsy, a foundation of forebearers Death, CREEPING DEATH summons a vibrant sound somehow both familiar and fresh. The Edge Of Existence EP further demonstrates the power, fury, and outright revelry at the heart of the band’s identity.

Captured at Homewrecker Recording Studio in Tucson, Arizona and produced and mixed by Ryan Bram (Gatecreeper, Bitter Rivals, Sex Prisoner), the six-song EP introduces three new certified hellraisers — “Relics From The Past,” “Humanity Transcends,” and the title track — alongside remade and revitalized versions of the three songs from the band’s 2016 debut EP — “Sacrament Of Death,” “Doused In Flames,” and “Skinned Alive.”

CANNIBAL CORPSE continues to tour in support of their critically adored Violence Unimagined full-length, released last year via Metal Blade Records. Comprising eleven tracks, Violence Unimagined is state of the art death metal played with passion and breathless precision, making for another flawless addition to what is inarguably one of the premier catalogues of the genre.

While they continue to do what they do with aplomb, the one substantial change to CANNIBAL CORPSE is the addition of guitarist Erik Rutan to their ranks, joining bassist Alex Webster, founding drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz, guitarist Rob Barrett, and vocalist George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher. Known for his roles in Morbid Angel, Ripping Corpse, and most notably fronting the mighty Hate Eternal, Rutan has long established himself as one of the most dynamic forces in contemporary death metal. My Recent Cassette Purchases: CORPSEGRINDER, BURNING WITCHES And KILLER BE KILLED – Reviewed

The self-titled CORPSEGRINDER release is a monstrous and impressive leap for this Death Metal legend. CORPSEGRINDER is jam packed with infectious riffs, entertaining lyrics and more badass grooves than I can count. This is way more like Obituary than Cannibal Corpse; yet CORPSEGRINDER stands alone on its musicianship and overall nod to straight-up Metal.

Killer Be Killed exemplify’s how Metal has evolved up to this point in time; a modern Metal sound that benefits from the brilliance of this supergroup. Max Cavalara shows off clean vocals with his growls, while each song on Reluctant Hero I find to be outstanding. Greg Puciato is a tremendous force on this album. An amazing Metal album which I already consider as a classic.

Burning Witches carry the torch for Traditional Heavy Metal while adding their own recipe of sound. These ladies bring a hefty dose of speed and melody to their songs, along with some growls and European Metal vibes. The Witch Of The North settles into this band’s growing and impressive discography perfectly. If you love DORO, you’ll love Burning Witches.

Blackened death entity VØLUS has released a new track off its forthcoming album, Thrown to the Abyss. The song, titled “The Breathing Reflection,” is streaming now at this location.

Thrown to the Abyss is a follow-up to Festering Anti–Cosmic Wound (2020) and Deadstar Illumination EP (2021). The album name is taken from the song “Thrown to the Abyss” VØLUS wrote back in 2018 on The Vermin Speak demo.

James LoMenzo Joins Megadeth as Permanent Bass Player

Megadeth announce bass player James LoMenzo as a permanent member of the band. LoMenzo was Megadeth’s bass player in the mid-2000s and recently stepped back in as a touring member for The Metal Tour of the Year. LoMenzo now officially rejoins the Megadeth family.

MARTYRED – Texas Death Metallers Sign With Time To Kill Records

Time To Kill Records is delighted to announce the signing of Texas-based death metallers MARTYRED.

MARTYRED successfully merges a more contemporary sound with the purest old-school death metal influences and spirit. The band is currently putting the finishing touches to their most complex, advanced, and their most furious and heaviest release to date.

Formed in 2003, by founding guitarist Mike DeBord, MARTYRED went on hiatus in 2010 and reformed in 2017. The band currently consists of Krieg Penny – Vocals, Mike DeBord – Guitars, Jason Frankhouser – Guitars, Stephen Fernandez – Bass, Rene Martinez – Drums. The group is known for their razor grinding guitars mixed with blackened thrash elements and often abstract time signatures, characterized by blast beats, complex riffing, and pit style hook riffs.

Additionally, their reality-based lyrics characterized by war themes and mental trauma that are notable in death metal. Various line-up changes throughout the years have left Mike DeBord as the sole remaining original member, as well as the band’s driving force. To date, MARTYRED has released 3 EPs and a full length album to be released this fall 2022.

The Finnish Power Metal Regiment, Remains Of Destruction, Released Their Album Called “New Dawn”

The Finnish power metal regiment, Remains of Destruction, released their album called “New Dawn” on May 28, 2022. The revolutionary album transports the listener through beautiful melodies, heavy riffs, and epic moods. R.O.D has released a total of five singles from the album that have received good feedback, and the band assures that listeners will not be disappointed with their first full-length album.

“New Dawn” has also had high-level collaborators, such as Topias Kupiainen of Arion, long-time power metal expert Esa Orjatsalo, award-winning game music composer Kohld Haveneson, and Venezuela’s gift to music production, producer Felipe Grüber.

The songs’ themes on the album primarily deal with modern-day themes, and the texts revolve around the war in Ukraine, the pandemic, and the current state of humanity.

The band’s singer Jesse Yrjölä, who was responsible for the production and recording of the album, says of the new album:

“New Dawn” is an epic journey through a post-apocalyptic fictive alternate reality full of velocity and dangerous situations. The album follows the real world’s ugly situation through a third-person view, likened to a slightly whimsical universe according to our ideology through the eyes of different characters.

The concept of the album and some of the songs was in mind even before the whole band was formed. In the turn of the year, when our lineup was complete, we decided together to book an album-release gig and made a deal that we are going to finish the album by the gig. At that time we had released 3 singles and a total of five songs had been written! We worked our asses off throughout the beginning of the year and we were able to finish an album consisting of nine songs 3 weeks before the release! (The band’s singer laughs). We got a real supergroup of awesome peers who I want to thank a thousand times for their work! Without them, this album would have never seen the light of day.

SPLINTERED THRONE – To Release “The Greater Good of Man”

The traditional metal powerhouse from Portland, Oregon, are beginning their next chapter by unleashing the high-octane record The Greater Good of Man on August 19th 2022. Refining their classic metal sound fused with progressive hard rock and striking melodies, SPLINTERED THRONE have created a majestic and vivacious release.

Well known for their high energy live performances, and having supported the likes of FLOTSAM & JETSAM, PRIMAL FEAR, LITA FORD, and more, The Greater Good of Man sees the band distill their captivating sound. Following the departure of vocalist and founding member Brian Garrison, two-time Blues Music Award winner and European Blues Award nominee Lisa Mann stepped into the role.

Lisa Mann Comments: “I still pinch myself that I’m even in this band- and now we’ve written and recorded a kick ass album? It’s as good a feeling as sex and chocolate. Can’t wait to unleash it upon the world!”

Lisa was by no means a stranger to the world of metal having released her heavy debut album under the pseudonym of WHITE CRONE receiving raving reviews in the underground scene. Despite the pandemic disrupting initial plans, the band have produced an astounding new record. Opening with the enthralling “The Reaper is Calling”, SPLINTERED THRONE bring a high-spirited energy into the deadly track. Channeling their melodic essence, this opening number aptly establishes the mood of the album.

The title track, “The Greater Good of Man” delivers bluesy influences with dynamic bass, groove rhythms, and soaring vocals. Yielding a thrilling pace of high-speed riffs and unrelenting energy, the epic lyrical narrative of “Night of the Heathens” draws the listener into the storytelling. Also included on the album is a moving re-recorded version of the power-ballad “Immortal”.

The Greater Good of Man is the eagerly anticipated next milestone in SPLINTERED THRONE’s career. Showcasing compelling composition and genre fusion across the tracks, the album is a dynamic collection of energy, emotion and storytelling.

VIO-LENCE – Bay Area Thrash Icons To Kick Off US Spring Tour With Coroner And Exciter

Bay Area thrash icons VIO–LENCE are readying to kick off a stretch of live shows this weekend with Swiss thrash legends, Coroner. The journey begins May 21st with a pair of shows at Reggies in Chicago. Exciter and Lich King join the run for some select shows leading up to VIO–LENCE’s performance at Maryland Deathfest. In June, the band will play a trio of shows in Oakland, Seattle, and Portland. In August, VIO–LENCE will perform in San Diego and Los Angeles before pillaging the stage at this year’s edition of Psycho Las Vegas! See all confirmed dates below.

An integral part of the San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal scene was, and still is, the quintet known as VIO–LENCE. Formed in 1985, they entered that scene with the intentions of being the most aggressive band that scene had to offer, always delivering a devastating live show complete with vicious mosh pits and constant stage diving by their faithful following, and a nonstop dose of adrenaline delivered by the band. Even though they had not performed since 2003, their frantic style of thrash metal still appeals to metalheads globally. Now they’re reformed and back with their intense live performance and their frantic music.

Joining original members Perry Strickland (drums), Sean Killian (vocals) and Phil Demmel (guitars) are legendary artists Bobby Gustafson (guitars) and Christian Olde Wolbers (bass), creating a formidable five-some ready to take the world by the throat.

The band recently issued their Let The World Burn EP via Metal Blade Records. The five-song EP showcases the band’s first new material in twenty-nine years and fully delivers on the classic VIO–LENCE sound. “That came very naturally,” states founding guitarist Phil Demmel. “I hadn’t written a lot of thrash in the past seventeen years or so but being the main songwriter for the band over the years I wanted that sound, I wanted that mid-‘80s raw thing, but I also wanted to capture our signature notes and structures and stuff like that.”

Elaborates vocalist Sean Killian, “Each song has its own individual sound, they are all very thrash metal, there are grinding riffs, technical riffs, and plenty of speed. The lyrics are written freely with no restrictions and without compromise while the vocal patterns are typically unusual and delivered with a multitude of emotions.”

Let The World Burn was tracked in Trident Studios in Pacheco, California by Juan Urteaga (Machine Head, Exodus), mixed by Tue Madsen (Dark Tranquillity, Heaven Shall Burn), and mastered by Ted Jensen (Alice In Chains, Death Angel) with Demmel tracking his solos at home.

LASTBREATH – Sardinian Hardcore Stalwarts Sign With Time To Kill Records

Sardinian hardcore stalwarts LASTBREATH have signed to Time To Kill Records for the release of their debut album “Vendetta”.

LASTBREATH is a hardcore band based in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy. Formed in 2017 from members of local bands Gold Kids, Stigmalized and Riflesso, the band released their first DIY EP “Thousand Traitors” in June 2019. In October 2020 they returned to the studio to record a split EP with Earthfall – “Values Never Die” – released via UK label Mark My Words Records. After the Covid-19 pandemic, LASTBREATH are now ready to release their first full-length “Vendetta”
