With the blistering cacophony of 2024’s Loved By None, Hated By All still ringing in our ears, Danish death/metallic hardcore outfit strike back with a brand new single, “Die With Me.”
The track begins in full grind mode with the chant “die with me” driving the chaos before shifting into a fast hardcore section. The song keeps pushing forward before collapsing into breakdowns that grow slower and heavier toward the end, finishing in a massive closing breakdown that feels like the final moments of a live set. Lyrically, “Die With Me” is about meeting death head-on and refusing to go quietly.

Pennywise is Jim Lindberg (vocals), Fletcher Dragge (guitar), Byron McMackin (drums), and Randy Bradbury (bass). The band’s most recent album is Never Gonna Die (2018).
Formed in Hermosa Beach in 1988, Pennywise helped define the melodic hardcore sound that emerged from Southern California’s late ‘80s punk underground. Over the past three-plus decades, the band has built an international following through relentless touring and a discography that includes classic tracks like “Fuck Authority, “Alien,” and “Bro Hymn.”
Miami hardcore band POWERPLAY enter a new chapter with the release of their latest single, “Liberosis,” marking the band’s first release since signing with Terminus Hate City. The track features a guest appearance from Andrew Neufeld of COMEBACK KID, adding another surge of energy and connection to the song’s message.
“Like many newer bands, we were born out of the pandemic,” says vocalist Adam Hussler. “We had all been writing and playing music with various other projects for many years. PowerPlay was actually never supposed to be a touring entity or anything it has become, but just a musical outlet. Like all things, it evolved, and we just rode the wave, so to speak.”
That growth and perspective are at the heart of “Liberosis.” The track confronts mental health struggles and the long standing emotional battles many people face every day. Built as an anthemic rally cry, the song centers on the realization that while life can feel overwhelming, no one has to face it alone.
“Liberosis” delivers a message of acceptance and solidarity. It reflects the understanding that we can only control certain aspects of our lives while drawing strength from friends, family, and community.
POWERPLAY is a hardcore band from Miami, Florida, formed in 2021 during a time when the world had slowed down but emotions were running high. What started as a creative outlet between longtime friends quickly gained momentum, turning into a full force band built on honesty, intensity, and connection.
Made up of Adam Hussler on vocals, Julius Lopez on drums, Andrew Herrero on bass, and Oscar Rodriguez on guitar, POWERPLAY bring together years of experience from various projects across the South Florida scene. Their sound draws influence from SICK OF IT ALL, BLOOD FOR BLOOD, WHERE FEAR AND WEAPONS MEET, and BURIED ALIVE, blending classic hardcore urgency with deeply personal themes.
Lyrically, POWERPLAY focus on real life struggles, mental health, personal responsibility, and the everyday weight of being human. Songs like “Liberosis” channel those themes into anthemic, shout along moments built for both personal reflection and packed rooms.
Since forming, POWERPLAY have built their name through relentless touring and high energy live performances. They have shared stages with bands across the hardcore scene and appeared at numerous festivals and tours throughout the United States and Central America.
Their 2024 EP Sealed Envelopes helped establish their presence, while continued touring and new releases have pushed the band into a new phase, including their recent signing to Terminus Hate City.
At their core, POWERPLAY are driven by authenticity. They write music that reflects their own lives, struggles, and perspectives, creating songs that connect through shared experience, unity, and the strength found in community.

Formed in 1995 in the small Swedish city of Mariestad by key players from Sweden’s legendary hardcore scene, WOLFBRIGADE (known as Wolfpack until 1999) remains among Scandinavia’s most respected, influential, and reliable purveyors of real-world, brute-force, political hardcore punk.
The band’s disparate influences are drawn together with unifying solidity, the remorseless rhythms of Discharge, the blue-collar rock ‘n’ roll of Motörhead and the heads-down bludgeon of classic Entombed. The quintet defines their main driving force as: “the eternal quest for the ultimate song. We constantly explore the space we can create for progression within our pretty slim framework. Even though our personal tastes are very eclectic, we want to stay true to the WOLFBRIGADE core, but at the same time apply as much pressure as we can to push it further. We’ll mix any influences that we please. War on rules. That has been the concept since the very start of Wolfpack.”
In celebration of their 30th anniversary, WOLFBRIGADE delivers Hostile Wasteland, an EP with a ferocious raw mix originally recorded in 2000, in the legendary Sunlight Studios, while they still went under the name Wolfpack. In addition, they unleash Kill To Live, an album of special live renditions of classic tracks, recorded in 2025, in the band’s own Wolfden Studio.
The band comments, “Over the years we have talked about releasing the last recording we did under the name Wolfpack to present it the way it was originally intended. Until now, it has remained more or less buried, only surfacing as bonus tracks on a few limited releases. As we celebrate the band’s 30th anniversary, we went through our archives and unearthed a stack of old DAT tapes which we transferred to digital. Among them we found this raw mix that sounded great. Bloodfilled and savage. And it felt like the right moment to finally give it a proper release.
When we started out, we were five guys from different punk and metal bands who came together. The fusion of d-beat, punk, and death metal came naturally. That this hybrid beast is still alive three decades later feels insane. And at the same time inevitable. The band has burned itself into our DNA. Over the years some songs turned into staples in our live sets, others never really came out the way we wanted on the recordings, some changed shape with time, some we almost forgot. When we finally had proper recording possibilities in our rehearsal space, our guitarist Jocke Rydbjer’s own Wolfden Studio, we thought: ‘Why not give these songs another chance? Record them live, document how we actually sound as one. Five friends in a room. Nothing polished. Nothing dressed. Just naked to the bare arse.’ This is Lycanthro Punk 2025. Since 1995.”

Time To Kill Records is thrilled to announce the release of Overtime, the brand-new EP from Italian hardcore outfit RESPECT FOR ZERO, set to drop on June 30th, 2025.
Following the announcement of their signing, Overtime marks a bold return for the band; an explosive statement of intent that sharpens their identity with renewed precision. The EP delivers crushing grooves and relentless intensity, staying true to the band’s hardcore foundation while embracing a tighter, more dynamic production. RESPECT FOR ZERO prove once again that aggression and authenticity can evolve without compromise.
“‘Born Again’ explores the experience of existential stagnation, a loss of strength and emotion but ultimately urges a reaction, a personal awakening in the face of despair. The lyrics capture a moment of profound inner struggle and emotional paralysis, where hope seems to vanish. Yet, they deliver a powerful message of perseverance, framing every obstacle as an opportunity for renewal. The song underscores the importance of taking action and refusing to let life slip away, reminding us that every hardship holds the potential for a comeback. At its heart, ‘Born Again’ is a testament to resilience and the transformative power of starting anew”.
Tracklist:
1. Reaching Death 2. Mirrors 3. Sagnol 4. Born Again
RESPECT FOR ZERO is a hardcore band from Sant’Elpidio a Mare, on Italy’s east coast, active since 2013. Their name doesn’t stand for “respect for nothing” but rather for respect for those who are treated like zero compared to corrupt politicians and the authorities who exploit us.
The band channels the rage of a generation raised in the suburbs, without comfort, and under the repression of the global underground culture, constantly stifled by the church and a bigoted mindset. The band stands firmly against fascism.

Freya, the veteran hardcore/metal band hailing from Syracuse, USA, is set to drop their newest single “Blood Thirst”. This powerful track showcases the band’s unique blend of hardcore intensity and thrash metal fury that they have been perfecting for over two decades. The single is a straightforward banger, drummer Ethan D. Henry comments on the track:
“I’m not vegan or anything but I was just thinking of this concept of some trophy hunters entering the forest killing and taking what they wanted and leaving the corpses of their victims to rot. I imagined a grizzly bear being fed up finding rotten deer, turkey, and whatever else on his daily trek. Full of rage, he is forced to fight back and chase the men out of the forest. Like Batman haha. But a pissed-off grizzly bear.”
Drawing inspiration from the hard-hitting, old-school hardcore vibe of bands like Biohazard, the song opens with a memorable riff that immediately grabs the listener’s attention. As the track progresses, Freya seamlessly shifts into a thrash metal assault reminiscent of Slayer, showcasing the band’s ability to blend genres with precision and intensity.
Henry also comments that he wanted this track to crank and hit hard, “it’s about capturing that raw energy that makes hardcore and thrash so powerful”. “Blood Thirst” will appeal to both hardcore and metal fans alike, especially those with an interest in Earth Crisis, Terror, and Hatebreed.

Their latest single, “Robber Baron,” delivers a powerful mix of aggressive riffs, pounding drums, and commanding vocals, embodying the band’s distinctive sound that has gained a global following. This track illustrates the band’s talent for merging raw power with complex melodies, offering an intense yet cathartic musical journey.
The band shares: “A ‘Robber Baron’ is an old English term for someone who does business with malicious intent. The song is a callout to all the white collar music industry people who try to take money away from artists, who already make very little as it is.”
The Pursuit Of – Tracklist: Cerberus Warmer Weather Just This Once Robber Baron The Pursuit Of Cold Shoulder Kitsch Fade Out
“Robber Baron” was self-recorded, mixed, and mastered, showcasing YOSEMITE IN BLACK’s commitment to their DIY roots and artistic integrity. The lyrics explore themes of societal disenchantment and personal adversity, providing a poignant reflection on today’s societal challenges.
July 25, 2023 – Ghost Spirit, the L.A. hardcore band who surprised fans in early June with the release of “Kill The Strife,” the group’s first new music in four years, have now released an additional single via Blue Swan/Rise Records: “The Tradition That Remains” (watch the video here).
“’The Tradition That Remains’ is a heartfelt anthem celebrating the unbeatable spirit and promising future of the hardcore scene,” explains vocalist Alex Bigman of the Will Putney (Every Time I Die, Knocked Loose) mixed and Phil Odom (Code Orange, Portrayal of Guilt) engineered track. “Amid the Covid lockdowns, just like everyone else, we were deeply concerned about the fate of our beloved community’s shows. It seemed as though the very existence of the scene was at stake. Determined to rally the troops and reignite the passion, we set out to create a song that would unite us all. Out of the pandemic we overcame the challenges, and now in 2023 the scene feels more alive than ever. This music video, lovingly captured on Super 8mm, Super VHS, and digital formats, beautifully portrays the essence of this journey during the unforgettable run of our recent sold-out shows. We proudly declare that the tradition endures, binding us together in our shared love for hardcore, and illuminating a bright path towards the future.”

Ghost Spirit released Hourglass in 2019, with the 8-song album landing on Rolling Stone’s staff’s personal best of lists, and being praised by outlets for capturing the band’s DIY spirit. Idioteq said the collection is “sonically and thematically immense,” while Sputnik Music noted the band’s ability to juxtapose “tenderness and honesty” with “frantic guitar work… and the pained screams of Alex Bigman.”
The band is currently writing a new album with additional details to be revealed soon.
Ghost Spirit is Alex Bigman (vocals), Taylor Jewell (drums), Niko Zaglaras (guitar) and Evan Henkel (bass).
As the band approaches its 20th anniversary of their first release, As the Last Light Drains (Victory Records, 2003), FREYA have returned to their roots with a pulverizing new full-length album, entitled Fight As One, which will be released on September 22nd on Upstate Records.

Initially formed in 2013, by Joe Randazza and Chris Halpin, EYE OF THE DESTOYER spent five years touring the US pre-pandemic, and their first full-length Baptized in Pain releasedin 2019. Musically the new release leans significantly into the New York Hardcore influence of BIOHARZARD and MADBALL while still showcasing the huge influence of SUFFOCATION in the quartet’s sound. EYE OF THE DESTOYER recreate the anticipation and thrill of the mosh pit through deliciously distorted guitars, punchy percussion and unrelenting energy.

BACKSLIDER / NIMBUS TERRIFIX – Releasing on May 17th, 2011, is Backslider / Nimbus Terrifix (Split) via Give Praise. Backslider is a two-man Grindcore/Hardcore force originating from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Nimbus Terrifix is a Technical Hardcore outfit that calls Scranton, Pennsylvania: home base. In Metal preface, Backslider are representative of the future for Blastcore, while Nimbus Terrifix can set their sights on Hardcore notoriety, just as long as they remain so damn pissed off.
Both of these bands accentuate the raging noize and all things extreme about Metal. Listening to the split album from these two up and coming Hardcore bands is not something you want to do on the way to a “check-up” at the doctor’s office… both your blood pressure and heart rate will be increased while you are trying to feel if the skin has been ripped off your face. (I’m just kidding about the facial skin, then again, you never know).
No epics are in this genre of Metal. Nope. Just quick and obliterating Hardcore uppercuts to the chin that grind out frenzied drums, old school riffs and blunt force jabs of traumatizing vocals. You shall find no sanity in the punishing sounds that Backslider and Nimbus Terrifix dish out. In this world of Extreme Metal, song structures are obliterated into furious spasms of kick-to-the-teeth strikes and counter strikes that carry out one unified message: piss off mainstream.
Give yourself the gift of Hardcore this Spring and try out Backslider and Nimbus Terrifix… you might just find that the extreme punishment these two bands dish will have you asking for more. It’s just like putting your tongue on the terminals of a 9 volt battery, it shocks, it’s unpleasant and you still want more.
While I listen to both bands, I don’t know whether I want to break out or break in. Regardless, I realize that it was my own doing in opening up this can of extreme whoop-ass and I’ll open it again. In under twelve minutes, both bands combined to brutalize my senses and I’m alive to talk about it. It’s the unreal that I hear from both of these bands, that for all intents and purposes, makes it real to me. Metal be thy name.
