Satyricon And Ex-Triptykon Musicians Announce New Band: Dead Eyed Creek

Posted in Hard Rock, Music, music news, music videos, news with tags , , , , , on May 25, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

May 25, 2022 – Job Bos (Satyricon) and Norman Lonhard (ex-Triptykon) have announced the formation of Dead Eyed Creek.

An early preview is available now, with the band sharing a teaser for their first single “Set Me Free” (https://youtu.be/ueM8lhnWzkY). The track will be released soon.

It was fall 2019 when guitarist and band founder Job Bos (Satyricon, Dark Fortress, The Ruins of Beverast), approached longtime friend and drummer Norman Lonhard (ex-Triptykon) with the idea of creating music together. After having worked with different musicians, they found bass player Max Blok, who proved to be the right fit for the band on both a musical and a personal level. The final person to join the band was Icelandic singer Einar Vilberg. Einar showed that his mind-blowing vocal skills and range were the number one choice for the band and together they created a mammoth of an album. Dead Eyed Creek was born!

Dead Eyed Creek’s music builds on a shared love of ‘90s rock sounds and heavy music. The band strives to go against the grain and eschews the clean and overproduced sounds found in the current scene.

Job Bos says of the songwriting: “I’ve been digging deep into myself, my past, my mistakes, my good and bad sides. The idea was to create something based on pure and real things, things that a lot of people have to face in life, and I hope people find a piece of themselves in our music and can hold on to it. Just like many bands have done for us. No metaphors or hiding, it’s all real and it’s all there.”

Coproducer V. Santura adds: “I think that DEAD EYED CREEK is a motherfucking great band, seriously. As a close friend of the band, I already witnessed their first steps and also the sometimes depressing difficulties and problems on the road to complete this debut album. But I have to say that I am truly stoked about their music! May the future belong to them.“

Dead Eyed Creek’s sound has it all – from heavy riffs and monstrous grooves to tragic and beautiful ballads and everything in between. Captivating and catchy songs with vocals that can make your skin crawl. With their music, they take the greatness of ‘90s rock to a new level, but most of all continue the sound from that era that so many have fallen in love with.

Now Dead Eyed Creek are gearing up to release their debut album. The international four piece already recorded eleven songs with German producer Michael Zech at Q7 studios in Munich and crafted something wonderfully iconoclastic. To top it off, the acclaimed American music video director Matt Mahurin, who has worked with bands such as Metallica, U2, Alice In Chains and many more, teamed up with Dead Eyed Creek to help them craft their first music videos.

Bay Area thrash icons VIOLENCE are readying to kick off a stretch of live shows this weekend with Swiss thrash legends, Coroner. The journey begins May 21st with a pair of shows at Reggies in Chicago. Exciter and Lich King join the run for some select shows leading up to VIOLENCE’s performance at Maryland Deathfest. In June, the band will play a trio of shows in Oakland, Seattle, and Portland. In August, VIOLENCE will perform in San Diego and Los Angeles before pillaging the stage at this year’s edition of Psycho Las Vegas! See all confirmed dates below.

5/25/2022 Underground Arts – Philadelphia, PA w/ Coroner, Exciter, Lich King

8/16/2022 Brick By Brick – San Diego, CA
8/17/2022 Catch One – Los Angeles, CA
8/19/2022 Psycho Las Vegas @ Resorts World – Las Vegas, NV

An integral part of the San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal scene was, and still is, the quintet known as VIOLENCE. Formed in 1985, they entered that scene with the intentions of being the most aggressive band that scene had to offer, always delivering a devastating live show complete with vicious mosh pits and constant stage diving by their faithful following, and a nonstop dose of adrenaline delivered by the band. Even though they had not performed since 2003, their frantic style of thrash metal still appeals to metalheads globally. Now they’re reformed and back with their intense live performance and their frantic music.

Joining original members Perry Strickland (drums), Sean Killian (vocals) and Phil Demmel (guitars) are legendary artists Bobby Gustafson (guitars) and Christian Olde Wolbers (bass), creating a formidable five-some ready to take the world by the throat.

The band recently issued their Let The World Burn EP via Metal Blade Records. The five-song EP showcases the band’s first new material in twenty-nine years and fully delivers on the classic VIOLENCE sound. “That came very naturally,” states founding guitarist Phil Demmel. “I hadn’t written a lot of thrash in the past seventeen years or so but being the main songwriter for the band over the years I wanted that sound, I wanted that mid-‘80s raw thing, but I also wanted to capture our signature notes and structures and stuff like that.”

Elaborates vocalist Sean Killian, “Each song has its own individual sound, they are all very thrash metal, there are grinding riffs, technical riffs, and plenty of speed. The lyrics are written freely with no restrictions and without compromise while the vocal patterns are typically unusual and delivered with a multitude of emotions.”

Let The World Burn was tracked in Trident Studios in Pacheco, California by Juan Urteaga (Machine Head, Exodus), mixed by Tue Madsen (Dark Tranquillity, Heaven Shall Burn), and mastered by Ted Jensen (Alice In Chains, Death Angel) with Demmel tracking his solos at home.

Finnish progressive metal band Sum of Seven released a new music video The Enemy. Famous Finnish model, dancer & singer Joalin Loukamaa, known from global Pop band Now United is featured on the video. The track is released in collaboration with Inverse Records.

About “The Enemy” single, Ari commenting:

“We wanted to create a video that has a nice balance of story and the band playing. Originally we planned this to be purely the band playing the song but the place we found for the shoot inspired us to add a story element. Joalin Loukamaa did an excellent job in our last video and we asked if she would join the project. Fortunately she said yes and did an amazing job again. We got Saku Suominen from Sakuvisuals to direct and work his magic behind the camera and we had an absolute blast filming this. We feel that the atmosphere of the video and the song complement each other in just the right way and the finished product definitely makes us proud.

The Enemy is a song that starts out fast and aggressive and really carries that momentum from start to finish. It is one of the heaviest songs that we have made so far. When that intro explodes you know that we’re going somewhere fast. But at the same time when the vocal melodies kick in they steer the song into a different direction than you might expect, still carrying the aggressive momentum. That element of surprise is really what crowns the song for me. The Enemy has one of the best melodies we have written in my opinion and Marko’s delivery is just absolutely breathtaking. The lyrics talk about freedom, victory and survival, but they also have connotations to the questionable interpretations of those subjects. The message can be interpreted as positively empowering, but also as a disturbingly delusional illusion.”

Finnish Melodic Black/Death Metal Band A LIE NATION Is Set To Release Their Debut Album “Sociopathology” – “Scum” Single Out Now!

Finnish melodic black/death metal band A Lie Nation is set to release their debut album Sociopathology on July 1st 2022 via Inverse Records. The first single Scum is released today.

Watch Scum visualizer video: https://youtu.be/YxzJ6-ceTZc or below:

Guitarist Jussi Tuomisto comments:
“Scum represents a more straightforward in-your-face department of the “Sociopathology” album. The song is a hybrid in styles, it clearly has elements of melodic death metal with a sense of black metal. I think it represents well the energy that we are known for. Nothing extra, no painting of pretty pictures or dreamy atmospheres. Scum is a brutally honest, stripped to the core extreme metal song.”

Vocalist Miikka Pyykkönen continues:
“Lyrically Scum takes a stand on how politicians of today are more concerned about their public image rather than how their policies impact the very society they are supposed to represent.”

In advance of the record’s official unveiling, today the band has issued a special track-by-track breakdown of the album. Paid In Full will be available on CD, vinyl in various color variants, limited edition boxset, and digitally. Find preorders at THIS LOCATION.

Since their steely inception back in 2006, dungeon keeper Zach Schottler (AKA Zach Slaughter) and his shredding band of reckless companions have released three classic heavy metal almanacs, have eaten more dust than is good for their health, have endured various hardships and propped up countless beers at countless bars in countless cities. But now, after fifteen years of metal and mayhem, Schottler is coming into his own with the proverbially titled Paid In Full album, a heavy metal wonder of the defiant middle finger variant.

Delivering tales of steel and legends from the underworld, Paid In Full was written at home, recorded at Vespa Studios near Toronto, and encompasses Schottler’s sonic efforts of the past two years. With heads held high, empty pockets, and enough gas to make the next show, SKULL FIST has won 2022. Don’t mess with the FIST. The FIST is the law!

Swedish Hard Rock Band BLISTER BRIGADE Released A New Single And Music Video “Carousel”!

Band pic by: Adam Björk

Swedish Skellefteå-based hard rockers Blister Brigade released a new stand-alone single and music video Carousel. Beside from being a groovy and heavy rock song, it is a homage to the fabulous ink studio Carousel Tattoo.

WATCH Carousel music video: https://youtu.be/antMat-f1Qk and/or below:

The band comments:
” ”Carousel” is in its foundation a heavy rock song. But with this one we decided to also get a little experimental. Since this song was written partly as a tribute to a tattoo studio, we found inspiration in circuses, carnivals and of course, tattoos. With these keywords in mind we just had to go outside our comfort zone and get a little nutty. It’s also the first song we’ve written together from scratch and it’s safe to say that we think this jam ended up really awesome. “

Album cover by Sanna (Carousel Tattoo)

BIOGRAPHY:
Blister Brigade was formed in 2010 by guitarist/vocalist Gustav Lund and drummer Jerker Avander. Joined by guitarist Cristoffer Strand and bassist Simon Lundström, the band started jamming on some ideas. With inspiration from bands like Motörhead and Skid Row Blister Brigade quickly developed a raw but yet a heavy and solid sound.

In 2013 the band released their debut album ”To Serve And Punish”. The album was well recieved and the gigs started rolling in. Blister Brigade’s second album ”The Executioner” was released in December 2016, and by that time drummer Jerker Avander had already left the band, leaving the drum chair to Rickard Lundmark (Zonaria, ex-Feral). Before the release of the E.P ”Pissed, Outraged And Outgunned” in 2018, Simon stepped down as the bands bass player. After a thrilling audition shortly after, bassist Anders Gustavsson joined Blister Brigade.

With the new line-up, the spark was lit again and after playing some gigs the band hit the studio once again to record their third full-length album. ”Slugfest Supreme” was released in February 2020 and with a harder, faster and heavier sound than before, Blister Brigade got ready to hit the stages. As for so many other bands and artists, the pandemic ruined all plans. But the band didn’t give up and stayed intact throughout the recent bleak years. With the brand new single ”Carousel”, Blister Brigade is more alive and rock’n’roll fueled than ever.

Line-up:
Gustav Lund: Lead and rythm guitar, vocals
Cristoffer Strand: Lead and rhythm guitar
Anders Gustavsson: Bass
Rickard Lundmark: Drums

Blister Brigade – Carousel:
Composed by Gustav Lund, Cristoffer Strand, .Anders Gustavsson & Rickard Lundmark.
Lyrics by Gustav Lund

Recorded, mixed and mastered by Max Malmer at Malmer Productions in October 2021.

Toronto-based heavy metal outfit SKULL FIST are pleased to reveal their latest video single, “For The Last Time.” The track comes by way of the band’s impending new full-length, Paid In Full, set for release on April 22nd via Atomic Fire Records.

Comments the band’s Zach Schottler, “We filmed this video in -20º C weather in my shed. For your sake, I hope you are nowhere near as cold as we were when we did this. This song was actually written more recently than the other ones and I’m happy its tombstone has finally been erected.”

View previously released single “Long Live The Fist” at THIS LOCATION. The song is available on all streaming platforms HERE.

Since their steely inception back in 2006, dungeon keeper Zach Schottler and his shredding band of reckless companions have released three classic heavy metal almanacs, have eaten more dust than is good for their health, have endured various hardships and propped up countless beers at countless bars in countless cities. But now, after fifteen years of metal and mayhem, Schottler is coming into his own with the proverbially titled Paid In Full album, a heavy metal wonder of the defiant middle finger variant. With heads held high, empty pockets, and enough gas to make the next show, SKULL FIST has won 2022. Don’t mess with the FIST. The FIST is the law!

Written at home and recorded at Vespa Studios near Toronto, Paid In Full encompasses Schottler’s sonic efforts of the past two years: tales of steel and legends from the underworld…

Paid In Full will be available on digipak CD, vinyl in various color variants, limited edition boxset, and digitally. Find preorders at THIS LOCATION.

J.B.O. Shares New Music Video From “Planet Pink”!

Posted in Hard Rock, hard rock bands, Heavy Metal, Music, music news, music videos, news with tags , , , , , , , , on March 19, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

For over 30 years, J.B.O. are the specialists for vociferous escapism at the highest stage. Gold albums, frenetically acclaimed live appearances and top ten chart positions pave their way. Their new album, Planet Pink, makes no exception. Especially in a world we are currently living in on planet earth, with pandemics, insane dictators, ecological disasters, surging prices for beer. Mankind’s only chance is escapism, so let’s enter the orbital glider and head for the stars when Planet Pink, the upcoming album by iconic J.B.O., starts to make its rounds on April 15, 2022 via the metal powerhouse mothership AFM Records!

After previously-released singles, “Metal Was My First Love”, the album title track and just recently, “Nicht Doof” (“Not Stupid“), today the charismatic German-based collective released a new, official music video for “Einhorn” (in engl: “unicorn”).

Escape to Planet Pink & watch J.B.O.‘s new music video for “Einhorn” HERE:

For obvious reasons, Planet Pink was created under very special circumstances. Usually the band bosses Vito C. and Hannes “G.Laber” Holzmann sit together on a couch and exchange ideas. This time they jammed through the phone. It worked out, because Vito and Hannes know each other better than identical twins.

Planet Pink was recorded with producer Christoph Beyerlein at Sound and Groove studio, Nuremberg. Beyerlein is part of the J.B.O. family since 1994 and the fifth band member in the studio. Supervised by the observing ears of Beyerlein, the rest of the crew sorted and refined a lot of demo recordings for only one reason: in the end there will be just one planet glow in the brassiest colours. “It’s Planet Pink”!

Pre-Order the new J.B.O. album HERE!

Heavy Metal Icons ANVIL Return With New Album “Impact Is Imminent” + Share First Single And Video Clip!

Posted in classic rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, music news, music videos, news with tags , , , , , , , , , on March 12, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

Heavy Metal pioneers ANVIL have announced the release of a brand new studio album, entitled Impact Is Imminent, due out on May 20, 2022 via AFM Records!

The Canadian trio belongs to one of the most distinctive bands of their genre, often cited as having influenced notable metal acts such as Slayer, MEGADETH, Metallica and Anthrax. After 40 years in the music industry, touring the world in sold-out venues, and garnering critically acclaim for Anvil! The Story Of Anvil – the number 1 music documentary of every metalhead – the iconic band returns with their nineteenth album.

On Impact Is Imminent, ANVIL fires off merciless riff attacks, relentlessly driving drums and impressive bass grooves, complemented by vocal melodies and lyrics that inevitably drill themselves into the listener’s aural tract. As always, Kudlow and founding member and drummer Robb Reiner, are at the epicentre of this heavy metal extravaganza. For the past eight years, they have been supported by bassist Chris Robertson, who not only complements the ANVIL fold on a personal level, but also enhances the tracks with his powerful low frequency bass parts and backing vocals.

Today, ANVIL shared a first single alongside a music video for the full pedal-to-the-metal anthem ‘Ghost Shadow’! Says charismatic frontman Lips: “Ghost Shadow is my 6th sense telling me I’m being watched! Could be internet trolls or paranormal phenomenon! Either way the song is heavy as fuck!!“

“None of our previous albums blends music and lyrics into as tight a unit as ‘Impact Is Imminent’,” enthuses Lips on the fourteen songs on the group’s new album. “Everything comes together homogeneously. As a result, the new material sounds monolithic, right down to the very last details, both in terms of rhythm and harmonies. In the past, our studio sessions were sometimes like a little like jumping in at the deep end, with us having to improvise a lot and making decisions at short notice. Working on ‘Impact Is Imminent’, not only was there plenty of time for the songwriting process in the run-up to the recordings, but I also had the leisure to put all my ideas to the acid test and work on them until they were perfect.”

Like its three predecessors ‘Anvil Is Anvil’ (2016), ‘Pounding The Pavement’ (2018) and ‘Legal At Last’ (2019), ‘Impact Is Imminent’ was produced by Martin ‘Mattes’ Pfeiffer (U.D.O., among others) and Jörg Uken at Uken’s Soundlodge studios, so the successful combination consisting of Anvil/Pfeiffer/Uken has struck again.

The album pre-sale of Impact Is Imminent, available as CD, Vinyl and Digital formats on May 20, 2022, has just started at THIS LOCATION!

NO TIN GODZ – To Release New Album

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, metal music, Music, music news, music videos, news with tags , , , , , , , , on February 16, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

Heavy rockers NO TIN GODZ will release their self-titled EP on April 8, 2022.

The trio are a powerhouse of groove rhythms, soaring melodies and distortion. From “I Walk Alone” to “Hell Yeah” their energy never falters. Forging a full sound drawing influences from traditional metal such as BLACK SABBATH, to the heavy of ROB ZOMBIE, and melodic style of GHOST, NO TIN GODZ deliver a heavy modern twist with a rock ‘n’ roll edge.

The epic impact of the intro riff in “I Walk Alone” establishes the hard-hitting intensity NO TIN GODZ produce. Melodic commanding vocals and intricate guitar leads, along with rhythmic experimentation, show the clever manipulation of dynamics across the tracks which cultivate charismatic moods. “We Are Zombies” combines NO TIN GODZ energy with a darker atmosphere. While “Just Before Dawn” ventures into a greater focus of guitar riffs and licks, with a raw sentiment portrayed through the chorus.

NO TIN GODZ’s unyielding spirit storms through the album. Exposing all sides of the human condition with great enthusiasm, the new EP is a model of pure, high voltage heavy metal.

Finnish Melodic Death Metal Band ANIMA HERETICAE Has Released A Music Video Short Film

Photographer: Vin Valentino

Finnish melodic death metal band Anima Hereticae has released a 12 minute long music video short film from the song Constellation Of Capricorn. The released video is shot for the final song of the debut EP and it is the band’s second video. The band’s music is a mixture of melancholic and mystic death metal. The Bands song themes are inspired by the northern nature and it’s mysthicisma and the new video explores this concept even further.

“We have had an idea of a video with an apocalyptic setup for quite a while. It was exciting to see how someone outside the band would see our vision. It was pretty clear from the very beginning that the producers Atte Santala & Jenna Wáthen would be able to interperent our band’s theme to the apocalyptic setting. It was a real acid test for our concept. It seems that our music and themes can be visualized beyond vikings, castles and mountains. To the future, that is.” The band describes the process.
