Finnish hard rockers Wishing Well have released a video for the song “Luck Is Blind” from their critically acclaimed “Chasing Rainbows” album, which was released in February 2016 by Inverse Records.
“We are still promoting the album and we thought that this time it would be good to come out with a little softer song. ‘Luck’ is a melodic and catchy tune with serious lyrics about injustice and inequality of the world. The song also features some cool keyboards by Juha “The Undertaker” Huhta and that gives the song some extra character. We’re even considering of using Hammond organ all the way on our next album”, says Anssi Korkiakoski, guitar player and songwriter of Wishing Well.
“We didn’t want the video to be too complicated but decided that simple but well recorded stage video should do the trick. We shot and cut the video all by ourselves in Helsinki and it’s just us performing our music. We shall come up with more videos from the album and next time we’ll do something different.”
Wishing Well are now promoting the album and booking shows for 2017. In the meanwhile writing and rehearsing new material is well underway and new material is expected to be released in late 2017.
Norwegian progressive extreme metal icons ENSLAVED will release The Sleeping Gods – Thorn compilation this November via ByNorse Music. A full-length album composed of rare material from 2010-2011, The Sleeping Gods – Thorn is a unique collection of experimental material connecting with the band’s early roots.
The seven tracks comprising The Sleeping Gods – Thorn originally appeared on extremely limited EPs between ENSLAVED‘s Axioma Ethica Odini and Riitiir full-lengths and were recorded both in Solslottet Studio in Bergen, as well as the band members’ own studios and partly in the deep woods of Valevaag on the South Western Coast of Norway. Like the songs themselves, the production is a mix of old and new; high-tech and no-tech – a mix of concepts that have been essential in achieving the signature sound ENSLAVED has become notorious for today. Members Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson co-produced the material together with long-time collaborator Iver Sandøy.
The album includes lyrics sung in Norwegian, English, and Old Norse, with themes centered on mythology and the esoteric side of the runes, as well as contrasting the Norse Ways as a polytheistic belief system to the monotheistic plague of the Big World Religions. The music nods respectfully to the wildly varying deities that make up the pantheon of inspiration for ENSLAVED, both “then” and “now.” There are traces of the proto black metal of Bathory, the classic rock and heavy metal of the ’70s and ’80s, the synthesized and sequenced masters of the ’70s, prog-rock, world/Norse folk music, Norwegian black metal of the ’90s, modern classical music, goth rock a la Fields Of The Nephilim, and much more.
Tying he package together are the extensive liner notes by Kjellson and a beautiful new layout by Costin Chioreanu of Twilight 13 Media (Roadburn Festival, Opeth, Darkthrone, At The Gates, etc.) whose mesmerizing new illustrations display a unique symbiosis between two of our times’ most exciting visual and sonic artists.
The Sleeping Gods – Thorn will see release on November 11th on limited edition blue vinyl (webshop edition), black vinyl, digipak CD, and digitally via ByNorse Music. Preorders will start on September 30th.
Up and coming Philadelphia based Black Metal band MALPHAS are pleased to announce that they have signed with FATAL ILLNESS MANAGEMENT to represent the band throughout 2016 and into the future.
The band commented about the signing: “We are excited and proud to announce our signing with Fatal Illness Management; big things are on the horizon. Be sure to check out our roster mates in Vesperia and Fenris.”
Fatal Illness founder Eric Dow further commented: “Fatal Illness Management are excited to be working with up and comers Malphas, you can expect great things from this union.”
In further news, the band is putting the finishing touches to the follow-up to their 2015 critically acclaimed EP The Conjuring. The new album is projected to be recorded soon and released in mid 2017, further details will be announced in the coming months.
Founded in 2012 by Paul DeSanctis and Eric Dunleavy, accompanied by Dallas Lutz and Damian DiFrancesco, Malphas is a four-piece Black Metal band.
The sound of Malphas is generally derived from the Scandinavian Metal scene, coming together as a healthy blend of melodic death, black, and power Metal with additional touches of prog and jazz.
The band’s lyrics are written as a concept story revolving around Malphas, the 39th gothic spirit in demonology. Malphas serves as the grand president and general of hell; commanding forty legions of demons and appearing before conjurers in the form of a crow.
Horoma Exordium are a Black Metal band hailing from Glasgow Scotland. Consisting of Aghast on instruments and recording and Bhaldraithe on vocals. It was born with a vision to create a ferocious incarnation of Black Metal whilst infusing other elements of Extreme Metal.
The new single from Horoma Exordium is as vile and poisonous a listen into Black Metal as I could ever wish for. This is Black Metal extremity at a very, very bang-up level, my fellow Metal brethren! This song is just as potent in its speed as it is on its fierceness. Musically and vocally this song encapsulates extreme Black Metal.
The breakdown half-way through the song doesn’t give me much room to catch my breath or slow my heart rate and it makes sense quite honestly. If you adore your Black Metal at its most crazed and evil level, then Horoma Exordium will answer your blackened call. Metal Be Thy Name – Stone.
For fans for Gorgoroth, Emperor, Anaal Nathrakh, Burzum, Satyricon and Mayhem.
Canada’s NOIRE have teamed up with Static Tension Recordings to release their EP The Tracks of the Hunted as a limited edition cassette. This cassette version is truly high quality and the definitive way to hear this EP. You can purchase the cassette here:
Originally released on July 8th 2016. The EP is a six-track tour-de-force that melds Black Metal with acoustic and ambient-like stylings, resulting in a truly unique sound.
The Tracks of the Huntedtakes the fury and darkness of Black Metal and transforms it into something both beautiful and menacing at the same time. This EP demands a full and immersive listen. Piano and acoustic guitar are front and center for much of this record, weaving around a central pillar of majestic Metal which draws from Enslaved and Opeth in influence while the softer moments recall Agalloch’s experimentation. Broad chested chants blend with snarls and fierce guitar lines.
NOIRE:
Andrew Lawes – vocals/guitar/piano Bob Fitzgerald – guitar Craig Peeples – bass Josh Thiessen – drums
All songs written and recorded by Noire at Bedside Studios in Winnipeg.

CRYSTAL VIPER are back! The Polish Heavy Metallers are returning after a 4 year absence, which was caused by the health issues relating to the band’s front woman and founder, Marta Gabriel, and which placed the future of CRYSTAL VIPER into question, (last year Marta underwent surgery of her nasal and facial sinuses), “The witch is back” however, sounding stronger, heavier and louder than ever before…!
On February 17, 2017, AFM RECORDS will release CRYSTAL VIPER‘s new concept album entitled “Queen Of The Witches”. The album, which will be available as a limited edition vinyl LP, CD and digital download, has been produced by Bart Gabriel – producer known for his collaboration with acts such as CIRITH UNGOL, MYTHRA and SACRED STEEL (and within their private lives, Marta’s husband), and engineered and mixed by Mariusz Pietka (JACK STARR’S BURNING STARR, LONEWOLF, MORTICIAN). The album’s cover artwork has been created by the legendary German artist, Andreas Marschall (RUNNING WILD, BLIND GUARDIAN, KREATOR). The first single from the new album will be entitled “The Witch Is Back”, and will be available in December. On February 18, 2017, the band will play an exclusive headlining live show in Munich, Germany, at the Heavy Metal Calling Festival, which will be an official release party for the new album.
In other news Marta Gabriel, the band’s singer and guitarist who has once again written all of the songs on the new album, recently joined the ESP GUITARS family. In addition, all of the members of CRYSTAL VIPER have signed an endorsement deal with DEAN MARKLEY.
Swiss Dark Metal band XAON have released a lyric video for How We Become Ephemeral Birds, a song from forthcoming EP Face of Balaam. Check out the video below:
XAON will release its debut EP Face of Balaam on October 16, 2016. The official video for first single Discrowned, featuring vocals by SOILWORK‘s Björn “Speed” Strid, can be viewed at this location or below:
Brilliant melodies combine with the aggression of Death Metal throughout Face of Balaam, yet that description doesn’t quite do justice to the range of styles influencing the sound of XAON. Consider the contributions of legendary acts like ANATHEMA, TYPE O NEGATIVE, MY DYING BRIDE, SOILWORK, DEMONICAL, ULVER, and even Finnish act DISGRACE’s early to mid 90s output and you’ll get the picture.
Face of Balaam was produced and arranged by band members Vinc and Flo, recorded between June and August 2015, mixed and mastered by Julian at Parallel Focus Studios. Vocals engineered by Rob Carson at Carsonian Sound Solutions. All vocals, except “Discrowned,” were performed by Franco-American singer Rob Carson. Samples on “How we become Ephemeral Birds” and “Discrowned” by J.-P. Lana. The album artwork was created by Californian artist and painter Erik Burton Kirchner.

Kaotoxin is proud to announce the first step of its collaboration with Hard Rockin’ machine FLAYED with the release of the band’s new EP “XI Million” due out November 4th worldwide.
Keeping up the tradition of their last two releases, “Symphony for the Flayed” from 2014 and “Monster Man” from 2015, “XI Million” has been recorded in the good old way, on analog tapes at Cartellier studio and later mixed and mastered at Vamacara studio (OTARGOS, AZZIARD, ANTROPOFAGO…) and showcases the band’s mastery of the Rock’n’Roll magic and groovy formula, yet playing it not only with guts but also bringing something fresh to the table mixing influences like AC/DC, BLACK SABBATH or DEEP PURPLE for a very personal vision of the genre.
Featuring four brand new originals and a cover version of CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL, “XI Million” will also mark the first time a FLAYED release will ever be available on the highly-praised vinyl support.
Singer Renato Di Folco comments: “The EP, made of two previously unreleased tracks from the “Monster Man” sessions, a cover version and two brand new tracks, is meant to be a sort of link between our two previous albums and the next one but it’s also a link between FLAYED‘s modern approach of Hard Rock and the path paved by its glorious ancestors with this “traditional” kind of artwork and the analog recording. It’s not just a filler release to fit our yearly schedule. It’s really something of its very own, created for its very own purpose and a piece of art on its very own too.” The EP will be a collector edition with no future reprint coming as either a 500 hand-numbered copies limited edition Deluxe DigiSleeve CD or a 300 hand-numbered copies limited edition 12″ MLP+CD and, of course, digital. Preorders will be available at the Kaotoxin Shop on September 26th.
Two first extracts of the forthcoming EP can be found below as soundtracks of 360° videos produced by TAKE A SIP, a French communication agency specializing in the wine business, as part of their marketing campaign for the HELLFEST Open Air “Kingdom of Muscadet” wine bar.

This will be the band’s first performance since their extensive US trek on the annual Vans Warped Tour, with more dates to be announced soon. For event and ticket information, please visit THIS LOCATION.
MOTHER FEATHER recently released their self-titled full-length, which includes ten tracks that marry the scratchy yet catchy, swaggering, and dangerous sounds of The Stooges, Blondie, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs with the playfulness, pop sensibility, and exuberance of the finest ’90s alt-rock. Mother Feather is the combination of the band’s two independently released recordings – 2011’s Mother Feather EP and 2013’s Living Breathing EP – plus two new songs, “Natural Disaster” and “The Power.”

Carter’s Rock Show on BBC Radio 1.

COBALT features multi-instrumentalist/mastermind Erik Wunder and new vocalist Charlie Fell (ex-Lord Mantis). The pair will be touring in support of their Slow Forever full-length, released this past March on CD, LP, and digitally via Profound Lore Records. Pitchfork named the record the band’s, “best-ever,” and, “as accessible as it is aggressive, with magnetic hooks, shout-along mantras, and sparkling riffs.” Spin noted, “Slow was born of isolation and betrayal, but it’s music that was meant for concert halls COBALT deserve to fill; music that rewards both introspection and reveling in like-minded rapture.”
Stereogum gushed, “Slow Forever works because its way vaster and meaner and more monolithic than almost any album I’ve heard in recent years. It’s not an album that does things. It simply is. If you listen to it in the right frame of mind, it creates this whole visceral hell-world inside your head, and you can just go fold in on yourself and live there.” Added Metal Injection, “Slow Forever is a commanding and magisterial composition. It stands as a frame of reference for great Metal much like its predecessor and transcends the hitches and missteps that COBALT has dealt with in the space between albums… a massively rewarding experience to digest and rife with some of COBALT‘s greatest individual moments.”

Wither was recorded in mid-2015 by composer/founder Jesper Ekstål along with drummer Emil Leijon in Studio Blastbeat in Sundsvall, the same studio in which the previous albums were recorded. The album will be available on CD and vinyl formats.
1. By Nothingness Crowned
2. Upheaval
3. Void
4. Submerged
5. Downwards
6. Drenched in Wounds
7. Wither

BAND BIO:
Sweden’s DECOMPOSED grew into a band in 2010, shortly after being conceived as a pure one-man Death Metal project. A year later the Stench of Death demo was recorded, which led to the self-titled debut album the following year. Two years thereafter the follow-up, entitled Devouring was released, a much more mature creation focused on darkness, horror and madness.
After a few live performances and quite a few internal struggles, DECOMPOSED had to cease to exist as a live band. All members left, and only composer/founder Jesper Ekstål remained. The work on the third chapter Wither was well under way during this period, and it continued during obstacles of every kind.
Critically acclaimed Polish Death Metal band BANISHER have revealed a lyric video for “The Iconoclast” a new track from their forthcoming album Oniric Delusions. The track is a four and a half-minute rager of old-school Death Metal.
Oniric Delusions will be released by Deformeathing Productions on September 3 2016.
Starting with their Sorrow of Death demo back from 2005 , Banisher was originally founded in Rzeszów, Poland by Hubert Więcek and Michał Such. With every release, the band have set abundantly clear markers of progression and maturity to reach the present Extreme Death Metal powerhouse they’ve become.
Including members from such bands as Decapitated, Redemptor, Darzamat, Nuclear Vomit, Shodan and Ketha, the new opus was recorded by Więcek (guitars, bass), Szczepan Inglot (vox), and Jacek Gut (drums). Michał Bartosik was added as their new permanent bassist at the very start of 2016. Since their previous release (‘Scarcity’), the band has seen a significantly marked growth both in style and production and especially the dexterity of guitarist Więcek. It should be noted that Więcek has the honor of being endorsed by Ibanez Guitars since 2014 as well.
The band has already extensively toured the greater part of Europe and appeared at several festivals such as Inferno Metal Festival, Eastern Deathfest, Flesh Party Open Air, Cieszanów Rock Festival, and Metal Head’s Mission among others; they have also headlined Metal Blast in Cairo, Egypt. No doubt they will be looking to unleash their new material to all on tour soon well into 2016.
Coming in at just over 30 mins. ‘Oneiric Delusions’ was recorded, mixed and mastered at Invent-Sound Studio in Bydgoszcz, Poland by Szymon Grodzki. The album will be released on CD complemented with a comprehensive 16 page booklet and a lacquered sticker of the album cover artwork of the album supplied by Pete “Astmol” Zając.
