On October 16th, 1984 – The great DEEP PURPLE released their eleventh studio album: Perfect Strangers. I love this album so much! Honestly, I recommend this album to every music loving human being on planet Earth. I remember getting my first copy of Perfect Strangers on cassette! I bought it back in ’84 at Strawberries Records & Tapes in Avon, Connecticut. Whoa!
Perfect Strangers featured the super legendary “Mark II” lineup of: guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, vocalist Ian Gillan, Jon Lord on keys & organ, Ian Paice on drums and Roger Glover on bass. My favorite songs on Perfect Strangers are: Knocking At Your Back Door, Perfect Strangers, Wasted Sunsets and Hungry Daze.
On October 16th, 1985 – KISS released their thirteenth studio album: Asylum. This is not one of my favorite KISS albums, yet King Of The Mountain and Any Way You Slice It are very cool songs. Tears Are Falling kinda gets on my Metal nerves, after all these years. The album cover is cheesy too. Hell, the late & great Eric Carr has the bottom of his face cut-off on this Asylum album cover. WTF? That’s blasphemy!
Shown above:The legendary Steve Harris of the iconic IRON MAIDEN, performing at the IRON MAIDEN Concert on October 16, 2006, at the Air Canada Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Ever since I was first introduced to IRON MAIDEN, (so many terrific years ago), I could not fathom life without them. Metal be thy name!
On October 16th, 2015 – The newly released studio album from STRYPER is now ranked at #1, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Holy cow!
The Red Sect, the new album North Carolina Blackened Thrashers ALL HELL, is out today on Horror Pain Gore Death Productions. Purchase and/or stream the album at:
The Red Sectmarks a crossroads for the band; the straightforward aggression of their debut blends with a seething, menacing atmosphere-further enhanced by the mixing and mastering skills of TOXIC HOLOCAUST main man Joel Grind, creating an album that is dark, vicious, and compelling. The record’s ten tracks weave a frightful narrative of ritual possession, vengeance, and revolt. The band has further explored and defined their sound, once again drawing influences from a wide array of genres such as Thrash, Black Metal, Deathrock, and Punk.
Praise for The Red Sect:
“The Red Sect is sure to be on the shortlist for the best underground metal of the year.” – Gear Gods
“A thoroughly electrifying romp, a ripping rampage of thrashing riffs, punk rhythms, and mad-dog snarls. Hooky as hell and as nasty as a famished wolverine.” – No Clean Singing
“A fiesta of satanic proportions where demons, whores and cocaine are abundant.” – Dark Souls United
“A holocaustic punk hybrid of black metal and rock n’ roll, influenced by Motörhead, Thrash Metal tunes and rabid attitude.” – Zombie Ritual Fanzine
ALL HELL:
Jacob Curwen – Guitar and Vocals
Kurt Henderson – Drums
Erik Ballantyne – Bass Guitar

Since their 2014 debut release, ALL HELL have been busy sowing chaos through live performances while crafting their sophomore record.
Playing and touring throughout the Southeast, the band has quickly developed a following and earned a reputation as one of the most intense and lethal live acts in the region, having shared the stage with bands like 1349, Black Tusk, Ghoul, Skeletonwitch, and Toxic Holocaust. With their relentless drive, growing support, and two albums under their belt, ALL HELL pushes forward, intent on spreading their hellish music and intense live experience to as many people as possible ALL HELL is currently booking dates for Winter and Spring tours in support of The Red Sect.
Progressive Sludge three-piece Flummox are set to release their latest album Selcouth in early 2016. After the genre-defying Phlummoxygen (2015), Selcouth is sure to be another memorable release. The band defy traditions even within a genre as obscure and exciting as sludge metal. The band’s ability to merge technicality with the absolutely outrageous has left eager, excited and perplexed ears waiting for this next release.
The Tennessee outfit merge a traditionally Southern sound with an avant-garde sludge infused with Zappa-esque tendencies. This is not just flummoxing for the fun of it; the band are infectious, technically gifted and full of rhythm. Flummox is a well-selected band name and in listening to Selcouth you can expect disharmony, you can expect to be confused and you should expect a pronounced Tennessee drawl.
Flummox officially tell the music world to expect the unexpected with this next release and will continue to surprise, shock and weird people out. Not afraid to show some personality with vocal outbursts and heavy riffing, the trio have the ability to pull in lovers of all genres ranging from sludge to experimental, jazz and funk.
Each song on Selcouth is a sure-fire attempt to defy tradition and pull in inspiration from their eclectic set of influences including Black Sabbath, Frank Zappa, Opeth and King Crimson. Being fearlessly weird is a foolproof way of getting attention, and Flummox are sure to have everybody listening.
Band Bio:
The birth of Flummox came from an insatiable need to create music without restraints and limits. Blake Dellinger and Drew Jones came together after feeling unsatisfied with bands that limited their musical endeavors. Their first three track EP The MindrapE.P. was released in 2012 with drummer Matt Rose and solidified the band’s status as a force to be reckoned with within the Tennessean music scene. By the end of 2012, they had played nearly 20 shows and cemented the band’s playful energy with various incarnations and stage antics.
In late 2013, Flummox recorded their first album, Phlummoxygen, with engineer Dave Summers in his Tullahoma, Tennessee home studio. In early 2014 after the album was finished, Flummox signed on with Tridroid records who gave the album a March 2015 CD/Cassette release.
Currently, the Flummox trio consists of Dellinger, Jones, & Jody Lester as the singing drummer. The band’s new album is due in winter of 2016.
Standing Ovation. That melting pot of musical styles, the shimmering red blast furnace, the catalyst of the industrial revolution, the seismologist’s worst nightmare. Once again will the tectonic plates rip apart and the Earth’s magnetic poles will switch places when the band releases their next album which is titled “Gravity Beats Nuclear”.
The album title refers to the creation of all life – Gravity. Without this, no stars would have ever been born and hence no life either. Although the album deals with powerful themes of life, the familiar trademark of twisted humor is once again included with a pinch of science fiction.
The musical extremes are widened further and once more, it’s a roller-coaster ride which you hop on blindfolded not knowing what surprises there will be around the corner. And last but not least, has the coating been decorated by much richer melody frosting.
Gravity Beats Nuclear – Track List:
1. 23+23
2. Permafrost
3. Killer, Iron
4. Hellbillies
5. Fool’s Parade
6. Lifeline
7. The Great Attractor

North Carolina Death Merchants NECROCOSM have just released one Hell of a savage, penetrating debut album called Damnation Doctrine. Purchase and/or stream the album in its entirety at http://necrocosm666.bandcamp.com/ or below:
NECROCOSM was born of fire in chaos during the bleakest period of the year 2011. Three remaining members from a deceased project decided to embrace their dark inspiration and craft music in a new sinister direction. Formation of the circle was complete in 2012. Many beers were had, copious heads were banged and much blood was spilled, as the dark assembly forged this new sonic beast in the crucible of Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.
NECROCOSM is your shadow in the darkness, your cruel reminder that your time is short and death always prevails. Positivism never being our strong-suit, the growled, grunted, and shrieked lyrical themes are the darkened horizon obliterating all hope, devastating guitar riffs and solos melt more faces than the ark of the covenant, the inhuman drumming annihilates your empty fractured skull and the grinding bass is guaranteed to evacuate your bowels. We are gaining ground slowly but surely, promising to infect the ears and minds of our audience and remind them of the haunting darkness that awaits us all in the end. There is no eternal life in paradise or damnation in hell. Only the dreadful quiet of the eternal void.

MANTICORE’s history has been paved with blasphemous abominations since its inception 15 years ago. While still & always faithfully holding their distinctive vicious ferocity, MANTICORE’s 7+ minute track on this 7″ EP is also heavily doom-ridden.
At the other end of the spectrum, RITUAL SLAUGHTER are debuting with severe and virulent venom that will rapidly establish these heretics as a brute force to be reckoned with. This 7″ EP is limited to 300 hand-numbered copies and comes with a 2-panel-foldout-cover & 14″x14″ poster. Depraved cover artwork by Daniel Desecrator. The split is due to be released on November 6 2015.

We were really stoked on a comic about violent, motorcycle-riding monkeys. They throw their poo, just like us!” – Cremator, GHOUL

GHOUL has released a new song for the ongoing soundtrack to Image Comics’ The Humans graphic novel series. The song is available online from The Humans Soundcloud page RIGHT HERE.
The Humans comic, by Keenan Marshall Keller and Tom Neely, is set in the ’70s and follows a motorcycle gang’s exploits, but with a twist; in this world, the gangs are all apes and actual humans are primitive beasts kept around for sport. Each issue of The Humans is accompanied by two original songs released online from bands such as Goblin Cock and Witches Of God. GHOUL‘s song, “Humans Till Deth,” is an octane-fueled surf-thrash tune attached to the release of issue #8, out now.
To celebrate the release, GHOUL has also released a promotional video for the song, available for viewing on their Facebook page.
Says Ghoul bassist Cremator: “We were really stoked on a comic about violent, motorcycle-riding monkeys. They throw their poo, just like us!” Ghoul front-man Digestor added, “GHOUL has been busy writing new material, so the timing was just right. We recorded for the first time at Antisleep Studios and their wax cylinders are of the highest quality. The next album will actually and literally murder you.”
GHOUL will be recording a follow-up to their 2011 LP, Transmission Zero, for Tankcrimes Records in December of this year.
On October 7th, 1978 – The legendary BOSTON were ranked at #7, on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with their hit: Don’t Look Back. This song is featured on BOSTON’s second studio album from 1978: Don’t Look Back. Everything about this band = timeless Classic Rock. ‘Nuff said.

On October 7th, 2015 – DEVIL YOU KNOW have their forthcoming studio album, They Bleed Red, ranked at #16, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Their second studio album, They Bleed Red releases on November 6th, 2015, via Nuclear Blast Entertainment.
On October 7th, 2015 – Savannah, Georgia’s KYLESA have their newly released studio album, Exhausting Fire, ranked at #30, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Whoa! Shown above: the red vinyl version of this album. Whoa, again!
Guitarist, songwriter, producer and engineer Masaki Murashita has assembled his own solo band: MURASHITA.The founder and Metal mastermind behind Hemoptysis, Masaki Murashita has proven to me, that he once again, can bring a band of musicians together and create another incredible album of explosive Metal. This five song EP, Inescapable Damnation, will be self-released on October 16th. Masaki brings his lead guitar and scorching vocals back to the forefront with his solo debut and I am left completely jubilant at what I’ve been listening to.
MURASHITAInescapable Damnation features Metal heavyweights: David Ellefson (Megadeth), Kevin Talley (Suffocation, Six Feet Under, Chimaira), Kelly Conlon (Death, Monstrosity) and Rodney McGlothlin (Voice of Dissent). Mixing was done by award-winning producer, Ryan Greene (Megadeth, NOFX). With a powerhouse lineup like this, MURASHITA delivers on all counts on this EP. I love how the guitar playing transitions from brutal to melodic on these songs, along with Masaki’s unique vocals playing such a tremendous role in this EP’s overall persona and intensity. Only those who have not a clue will find even a minuscule fault in Inescapable Damnation.
Masaki Murashita
With the overall stellar musicianship being nailed down, the songwriting and lyrics are also top-tier on Inescapable Damnation. Conquer The Foe and The Show Must Go On are two examples of perseverance and self-confidence bursting out lyrically; two attributes of Masaki that have made him the underground Metal warrior I have greatly admired since day one. Masaki Murashita and his star-studded band should rightfully be proud of Inescapable Damnation. Metal be thy name. – Stone
Fans of Melodic Death Metal to Thrash will surely want to add this EP to their Metal stash.

The album contains 8 tracks and is available on compact disc or as a digital download. You can stream the album in full and order a copy direct from the label at this location: https://acephalewinter.bandcamp.com/album/shadows-of-ancestors
About Twilight Fauna:
Twilight Fauna is a one-person Atmospheric Metal project from Appalachia. Constantly pushing the boundaries between genres, multi-instrumentalist Paul Ravenwood uses a variety of traditional folk instruments alongside more conventional Black Metal guitar work and primitive drumming to create a unique blend of blackened folk music.
Since forming in 2011, Twilight Fauna has released multiple full lengths, EPs and splits, including the much acclaimed Hymns of a ForgottenHomeland LP. With songs steeped in atmosphere, Twilight Fauna is one man’s deeply personal vision into the history of himself and of the mountains of his birthplace.
Praise for Shadows of Ancestors:
“Ambient, cinematic, hypnotic and still wonderfully savage. ‘Shadows Of Ancestors’ is an introspective and genuinely moving album that transcends its Black Metal roots and builds on the foundations of its predecessor. Twilight Fauna continues to improve as a project and is crafting some very interesting music that is begging to be explored. ” – Intravenous Magazine
“Ravenwood’s tireless work ethic and prolific output have helped Twilight Fauna grow at a pretty rapid pace. “Shadows of Ancestors” is proof of that artistic development, as this sometimes strange, often moving project keeps getting richer and more defined. It’ll never be everyone’s cup of tea, but those who do relish these sounds will find themselves immersed in a haunting place with rogue spirits showing you the way.” – Meat Mead Metal
The Finnish Pagan Metal band VORNA will release their second full length album ”Ei valo minua seuraa” (transl. ”No Light Follows Me”) on 4th December 2015. The album will be released through Inverse Records.
The album has been mixed by Tuomas Kokko from Electric Fox Studios (e.g. Swallow the Sun, Ghost Brigade) and mastered by Jaakko Viitalähde from Virtalähde Mastering (e.g. Black Crucifixion, Alghazanth, Ghost Brigade). The album cover artworks have been designed by Jarno Lahti from Kaamos Illustration & Design (e.g. Pain, Hypocrisy, Before the Dawn).
The lead-vocalist Vesa Salovaara shared a few words about the album recordings and about the actual album:
”This year has most certainly been Vorna’s busiest one to date and the whole album making process was quite intensive experience as well. The song material was constantly evolving from the earliest demo sessions in April all the way to the mixing which took place in July. As a result we think we’re holding our most mature, diverse and also, in a way, darkest album yet. Still, neither risks nor untamed intuitive ideas were avoided and we believe that one might find even somewhat surprising shades from it’s depths. Lyrically ”Ei valo minua seuraa” is dealing with quite universal and timeless themes. The story is fundamentally about a journey towards mental or spiritual equilibrium which is being torned by contradictive identities and generally estranged world.
”Jälkemme” represents the more straightforward approach of the album and that’s one of the reasons we chose it to be the first single. It’s quite a beast of a song and we believe it has a lot to offer in live environment. Come to our show and witness it yourself!”
Tracklist:
1. Harmaudesta (Away from Grey)
2. Jälkemme (Heritage)
3. Itsetön (Soul Shriven)
4. Sieluni varjossa (In the Nightside of Self)
5. Vaipunut (Of Life Descended)
6. Yksin (Alone)
7. Hiljaiset rauniot (Silent Ruins)
