MANTIC RITUAL originally formed as Meltdown in Pittsburgh in 2005. Building a buzz with Northeast heavy metal fans over the next two years they moved across the country to Los Angeles in 2007, where performances alongside leaders of the budding Southern California thrash revival such as Warbringer, Fueled By Fire, and Merciless Death earned them attention from discerning metal audiences and a record deal with Nuclear Blast Records.

Changing their name to MANTIC RITUAL, the quartet flew to Germany to record with producer Andy Classen, and released their full-length record ‘Executioner’ in March 2009. Cover artwork provided by Colin Marks (Aborted, Exodus, Allegaeon).

The album received critical acclaim at the time of its release, with MetalSucks praising the band’s “ability to display solid songcraft while maintaining a high-level of heaviness,” Blabbermouth taking note of their “passion, chemistry and intensity,” and the Washington Post noting that “MANTIC RITUAL’s old-school sensibilities act like a group hug that brings punks and headbangers together.”

MANTIC RITUAL fell apart after tours with Rotting Christ and Destruction in 2010. But reformed in 2021, with Carlos Cruz (Warbriner, Exmortus, Hexen) on drums, to release the 6-song ‘Heart Set Stone.’ Now both albums, plus their unreleased cover of the Scorpions classic “Blackout” has been compiled in one set for your (re)discovery and enjoyment.

The spiritual successor to God is Myth and Ars Magna Recordings, Alte Seelen is a new US-based label supporting the extreme metal underground and adjacent subgenres.

Founded by the heads of God is Myth and Ars Magna Recordings, Alte Seelen aims to produce high-quality releases while illuminating the bands, artists, and individuals who contribute to the music that is our life’s blood. In time the label hopes to expand its reach to provide unique items, ranging from prints to wood carvings and leatherwork.

While the label acknowledges and draws upon the experiences of the past, Alte Seelen represents a conscious decision to leave those ventures dormant and dreaming.

A new banner has been raised… Halloween 2024 will see the release of the first two Alte Seelen titles.

ENFORCED – Announce New EP A Leap Into The Dark And Release Title Track

Posted in Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news with tags , , , , on September 6, 2024 by Metal Odyssey

Virginia thrash titans ENFORCED are back with a vengeance, announcing their latest EP A Leap Into The Dark, set for release on October 25, 2024. The six-song EP features three brand-new ENFORCED tracks alongside three explosive B-sides, including the fan-favorite “Casket” and blistering covers of ENGLISH DOGS’ “The Chase Is On” and OBITUARY’s “Deadly Intentions.” The title track from the EP, “A Leap Into The Dark,” is available now, accompanied by an intense new music video available HERE

The band’s frontman shares insight into the title track’s thematic depth: “A Leap Into The Dark” is fixated around a very vivid dream I had that I couldn’t forget or erase. Lyrically, it’s about taking a massive leap of faith into a chaotic unknown. It could lead to blessings or towards your downfall. It doesn’t matter; you’re at the moment where you need to make a decision. A Leap Into The Dark is the choice I’ve made. I am not afraid of the unknown.”

A Leap Into The Dark is produced and mixed by the renowned Arthur Rizk (BLOOD INCANTATION, POWER TRIP, KREATOR, CODE ORANGE), capturing ENFORCED’s unrelenting ferocity in its purest form. Building on the hardcore thrash foundation laid by their critically acclaimed albums War Remains (2023) and Kill-Grid (2021), the new EP serves as a harbinger of more to come.

A Leap Into The Dark is the sound of ENFORCED journeying into new levels of intensity and aggression. Fans can expect nothing less than a full-throttle aural assault as the band continues to carve their place in the pantheon of modern thrash.

A Leap Into The Dark Tracklist:

  1. Betting on the End”
  2. “A Leap Into The Dark”
  3. “Deafening Heartbeats”
  4. “Casket” (2024 Remaster)
  5. “Deadly Intentions” (OBITUARY Cover)
  6. “The Chase is On” (ENGLISH DOGS Cover)

CARMERIA – Release New Video For “A Thousand Winter Rains”, New Album Out Now

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news with tags , , , , on August 23, 2024 by Metal Odyssey

From the eerie mists of the Blue Mountains, Australia, CARMERIA combine the haunting sounds of dark symphonic metal with the lovelorn energy of gothic rock. Today marks the release of their highly anticipated sophomore LP, Tragédie D’amour, and to celebrate, CARMERIA unveil the stunning new video for their latest single, “A Thousand Winter Rains”.

This atmospheric and intense track delves into themes of longing and sorrow, perfectly complemented by the evocative visuals in the video, showcasing the band’s dedication to exploring the more melancholic aspects of the human experience. Watch the video HERE

Singer/songwriter Jordan von Grae shares: “The past 3 years have been a monumental journey through the peaks of love, and the valleys of loss, and reflecting on these experiences in the writing and production process for this album was both haunting and beautiful. As a writer, Tragédie D’amour took me out of my comfort zone, and the result was a series of wonderful lessons in songcrafting and production, and a newfound appreciation for the vast range of emotions and experiences held in the dichotomy of love and grief. It is my hope that those who listen to our record find solace in the fact that they are not alone in their experiences – the good, and the bad.”

Members:
Jordan von Grae – Vocals | Principal Lyricist & Songwriter | Producer
Jerry Zahija – Guitars
Mishka Bobrov – Keys | Additional Backing Vocals
Emma Louise Nagy – Bass | Secondary Vocals | Acoustic Guitars
Lachlan Blackwood – Drums | Producer

Track Listing:

  1. Call Forth My Sorrow
  2. A Thousand Winter Rains
  3. Thorns
  4. Leading the Lyre
  5. Whispers of Forgiveness
  6. Shadow’s Throne
  7. Immortal
  8. Burning Ships
  9. The Hoping Heart
  10. A Vision in Passing

Since reforming with a new line-up in 2018, the band has been on a momentous warpath through the Australian music scene. CARMERIA’s debut album Advenae (2021) saw the 5-piece garner international acclaim. In the summer of 2021/2022, the group embarked on their first nation-wide tour, culminating in a sold out show in their hometown capital, Sydney.

The following years saw the ensemble write and record music for their 2nd opus, titled Tragédie D’amour, which consists of 10 new songs and sees the band’s sound taking on a more energetic gothic rock approach than its predecessor.

HATCHET Cover Classic W.A.S.P.

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news with tags , , , , , , , on August 21, 2024 by Metal Odyssey

Today marks the release of a new digital single from HATCHET. Surprisingly it’s the band’s cover of the W.A.S.P. classic “Hellion” from the LA shock rockers 1984 self-titled debut album, which just celebrated its 40th anniversary last week. “Hellion” can be heard on all streaming/download digital platforms or check it HERE https://youtu.be/V05Sa9n3Hv0?si=QA9epgSClc7Rl7TE

“Fist-pumping, headbanging, hardest of hard rock songs is what WASP’s ‘Hellion’ makes me feel. Few songs can take me from bored, sleepy, end of the day dredge to just full-on can’t sit still in your seat, rockin’ out with your cock out!” reveals HATCHETsinger/guitarist Julz Ramos.

“While there’s definitely heavier, faster, music galore out there, something about the energy in the recording of that specific song from that early time period of the band just can’t be beat. I’ve always wanted to play this song in some way. So here we go!

I really do have to lend a big thanks to our bassist and (ANUBIS frontman) Devin Reiche for helping with the melodic vocal duties on this one. It was a bit of a challenge for me, but with some coaching and his vocals in there thickening it up, it really enabled it to become a reality.

“Hellion” will be included on the band’s forthcoming EP, Leave No Soul, out Oct. 25th, which also includes the title track https://youtu.be/w45dmT7Hvn4?si=aie6nhKcF8s_DtFI plus 2 more originals and the group’s take on another cover – ANNIHILATOR’s “Human Insecticide.” This specially priced EP (featuring cover artwork from Andrej Bartulovic/All Things Rotten (Raven, Hirax, Alcatrazz) and recorded, mixed and mastered by Nick Botelho/NB Recording (Interloper, The Kennedy Veil) the team behind HATCHET’s last albums, is available for pre-order now on limited-edition (300) blood moon colored vinyl, limited run (100) of cassettes or CD. https://lnk.to/leavenosoul

We’re thrilled to finally release ourselves into you… haha – Yup! Go get yours now as they are very limited in physical format,” exclaims Julz. “Once they’re out – they are out!

HATCHET was formed in 2006 by teenagers that shared a mutual love for the bands that built their hometown Bay Area metal scene two decades prior. Bands such as Testament, Exodus, and the early work of then-Bay Area transplants Metallica infused the initial blueprint that informed HATCHET’s sound. Signing to Metal Blade Records the group released ‘Awaiting Evil’ in 2008, followed by the release of three more albums – 2013’s ‘Dawn of the End,’ 2015’s ‘Fear Beyond Lunacy’ and 2018’s ‘Dying to Exist.’ The group has also cemented their status as a live powerhouse, performing alongside acts such as Trivium, Soilwork, Flotsam and Jetsam, Metal Church, Raven, Warbringer, Misfits’ Doyle, Jeff Loomis, Kataklysm, Krisiun, Havok and Exmortus.

The twin brothers have been at it for nine years now, as they first formed the band in 2015 after discovering Aerosmith through the Rock n’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios in Orlando.

The brothers have been out touring nationally for the last few years, having performed shows with The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Alice Cooper, Slash ft. Myles Kennedy, Faster Pussycat, Hinder, Puddle Of Mudd, Warrant, Saliva, Bret Michaels, LA Guns, Nita Strauss, Dokken, Lynch Mob, King’s X, Jackyl, Stryper, Geoff Tate, Enuff Z’Nuff, Stephen Pearcy, Trixter, BulletBoys, Dangerous Toys, and Slaughter, among others.

With a sound heavily influenced by 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s rock, Kamenar mixes a variety of genres, creating a fresh new modern rock sound.

Defying odds, Kamenar performs as a two piece, uniquely creating a four piece sound. With Sean Kamenar on lead vocals, as well as playing guitar and bass simultaneously, and John Kamenar pounding on the drums, this brother duo is known for creating a massive wall of sound.

Currently working on a full length album, Kamenar’s latest two singles “Now That We Both Know” and “The Man” are out now and available on all major streaming platforms.

Make sure to catch Kamenar on The Road Dogz tour in a city near you!
