INEPSY: No Speed Limit For Destruction Reissue From Canadian Crust Punks, Out Now via Tankcrimes

On their third album, No Speed Limit For Destruction, Canada’s INEPSY leave the d-beat behind in favor of some Tank-meets-Motӧrhead NWOBHM influenced hard rock/metal/punk. Initially released in 2007, the final full-length from Canada’s now legendary rock ‘n’ roll crust punks released on Friday, March 27th, on CD and limited-edition vinyl via Tankcrimes.

INEPSY notoriously existed from 1999 to 2011, unloading a barrage of EPs and LPs in their twelve years of activity. Now, Tankcrimes honors the band’s revered legacy with physical reissues of their entire catalog.

“We wanted to do something different,” said bassist J.P. Hearse of No Speed Limit For Destruction in an interview with Bandcamp Daily last year. “We were always known for our d-beat/rock ‘n’ roll sound, but we wanted to focus more on the rock ’n’ roll side – mid-tempo stuff. When [late guitarist] Steve [Bennett] left the band, we brought in [guitarist] Bob-E to take over [on] rhythm guitar. The album wasn’t well received at first, but over time, we realized either people hated it, or they thought it was our best material. There was no middle ground. Looking back, we discovered there was an issue with one of the guitar tracks. It wasn’t loud enough, so without realizing it, we had unintentionally dialed back the distortion, shifting the overall sound of the band a bit. Despite all that, we still loved the album and had a blast playing those songs live.”

“That was courage on a fucking twelve-inch, dude,” said Tankcrimes owner Scotty Heath. “They were the kings of crust and had ushered in an entire new style of music.” [Read the full interview HERE].

Michigan Brutalists MY OWN WILL Announce New EP, Misery – Title Track Now Streaming

Misery Out June 4th

Michigan’s MY OWN WILL has announced the release of their newest EP, Misery. The EP promises to clutch throats and incite pits with four overly-aggressive tracks of metal-fueled hardcore.

The band has picked the EP’s title track for the lead single. Vocalist Dave Keoppen comments on the song, “‘Misery’ was the first demo we recorded for the EP and was initially called ‘Highway Homicide.’ It is a fast, blistering track that we really feel sets the tone for the EP. Sonically, it is unlike anything we feel we have done before. I really tried to push my vocal ability on this one and the dudes wrote a heavy, fast, interesting ass beater. It’s fast at times, slow at times, and maintain a constant auditory onslaught throughout.”

Misery is due out on June 4th, through Bleeding Art Collective in partnership with Blood Blast Distribution. Pre-save the EP at: myownwill.bfan.link/misery-ep.

These concerts represent a rare and exciting collaboration between artists from different musical traditions, bringing together European melodic power metal and the rich heritage of Japanese neoclassical metal.

The live line-up for these shows includes: Saeko Kitamae on vocals, Guido Benedetti (Trick or Treat) on guitars, Masashi Okagaki on keyboards (Terra Rosa, Jill’s Project, Aphrodite) and Kaz Nakamura on bass (Kelly Simon’s Blind Faith, Rachel Mother Goose).

The presence of legendary keyboardist Masashi Okagaki, a key figure in Japan’s neoclassical metal scene and leader of Terra Rosa, adds a distinctive and historically significant element to the performances, while bassist Kaz Nakamura brings his experience and technical mastery to complete a powerful and dynamic line-up.

Saeko is widely recognized as a pioneering artist in the international metal scene. Originally from Osaka, she moved to Germany in the early 2000s to pursue her musical career, collaborating with prominent European musicians and releasing her debut album Above Heaven Below Heavenin 2004.
