Horror Punk Act DARKER DAYS Premieres Single Of Upcoming Debut Album, “The Burying Point”, Feat. TB Monstrosity Of BLITZKID!

April 28, 2023 sees horror punk act DARKER DAYS release their much-awaited, first full-length album “The Burying Point”on Fiend Force Records, licensed by Massacre Records!

Hailing from the Halloween capitol Salem, Massachusetts, the band poured everything they had into this record and pulled inspiration from some of their favorite bands: AFI, The Misfits or Blitzkid. Lyrically, DARKER DAYS touched on things like their favorite horror movies as well as real-life hardships. Needless to say, that the dark history of their hometown Salem and all of New England – with Nathaniel Hawthorne in Salem, H.P. Lovecraft in Providence and Stephen King in Bangor – along with the bleak countryside had a big influence on them as well.

Today, DARKER DAYS are premiering a first single taken of their upcoming debut, feat. TB Monstrosity of BLITZKID! T.B. Monstrosity is the co-singer and songwriter of Horror Punk legendes Blitzkid, probably the most popular band in the genre besides the forefathers The Misfits. Blitzkid and Darker Days have been friends for years, so this collaboration has naturally grown out of their shared history. TB’s unique voice gives the song its very own atmosphere and harmonizes impressively with the melancholy of the track and Darker Days singer Mason’s vocals. Both the classic horror theme and the musical realization, as well as the guest appearance of the Blitzkid singer make “1818” an instant hit in the horror punk community.

“1818 is an ode to the work of one of our favorite authors Mary Shelly- being told from the perspective of ‘Frankenstein’s monster’ and the feelings he has of wanting to find happiness even though the world views him as a monster“, the band comments.

Philadelphia’s female fronted Metal/Hardcore/Punk act THE END A.D. has signed with Fastball Music for the release of the band’s next album, coming out in Autumn 2019!

Southern Lord welcomes Amsterdam, Holland’s long-running hardcore punk kings VITAMIN X to the label for the upcoming release of the band’s sixth full-length recording, Age Of Paranoia.

VITAMIN X has unloaded their energetic brand of rock and thrash-soaked hardcore punk since the late 1990s. Having operated through diehard DIY efforts, the band has amassed an arsenal of albums, EPs, singles, splits, and more across a wide array of underground labels, including Havoc Records, Tankcrimes, Underestimated, AgiPunk, Refuse Records, and many others. Their most recent two LPs were recorded by Steve Albini (Nirvana, Iggy Pop, Neurosis), and their 2016-released ”About To Crack” video went viral and reached more than a million views.

Well-known for their energetic and explosive live shows which attract fans from across the metal, punk, and rock spectrum, VITAMIN X has toured around the world several times, from Japan to the United States, from South America to Southeast Asia, and beyond. The band has played on MTV and many large fests including Hellfest, Maryland Deathfest, and many others, and recently toured with Baroness and Harley Flannagan’s Cro-Mags.

The newest chapter in the band’s lineage, the new VITAMIN X full-length, Age Of Paranoia, was recorded by Igor Wouters at ARC Studios in Amsterdam. Packing sixteen volatile tracks into a white-knuckled twenty-eight minutes, Age Of Paranoia surges with rapid-fire punk angst packed with ripping rock leads and raised-fist gang-chant anthems. The album includes several special guest guitar solos by J. Mascis (Dinosaur Jr., Witch) and Bubba Dupree (Void, Soundgarden, Dave Grohl’s Probot, Brant Bjork), and is completed with cover artwork is by Marald (Baroness, Kylesa, High On Fire).

VITAMIN X states of their liaison with Southern Lord, “This will be our first release on a major/bigger label as we’ve always operated in the do-it-yourself scene, even though bigger labels were interested in us in the past. We feel Southern Lord really fits with us, and Greg Anderson is an amazing guy, who just like us, comes from a hardcore punk background but is also into all kinds of other styles of music.”

Anderson offers, ”VITAMIN X creates music that pushes boundaries within a genre that is typically limited, a really unique fusion of old-school hardcore and rock, metal, and punk.”

Age Of Paranoia will be released on LP, CD, and digital formats May 18th through Southern Lord; watch for the artwork, track listing, audio samples, preorders, and more to be released in the weeks ahead.

Richmond Virginia based FRIEND OR FOE has hooked up with Flatspot Records for the release of their newly completed Foe EP this August.

Following FRIEND OR FOE‘s 2012 Know Your Rights EP on Reaper Records/Solid Bond Records and 2014 Outsider EP on Triple B Records, Foe sees the straightedge Hardcore/Punk outfit at their best yet. Packing five new tracks onto their third EP, the band’s undeniable NYHC influences see the band delivering coalescing the inspiration of Breakdown, Sick Of It All, Killing Time, Agnostic Front and the like with their own hard-hitting, energetic flow. Foe was recorded in the Winter and Spring months of 2016 at Studio F12 by Sam Deyerle and mastered by Mike Reaves and features art by Steven Kulesza.

Flatspot Records will release FRIEND OR FOE‘s Foe EP on August 18th and the label will issue a limited, pre-release cassette single on July 6th, bearing an advance of the track, “True —” which features guest vocals by Jimmy Williams of Maximum Penalty – as well as an exclusive non-EP demo track on the B-side called “Invincible.”

However, this September, Original Singer/Songwriter Glenn Danzig, Original Bassist Jerry Only and long-time Guitarist Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein – for the “First Time in Over 30-Years” – will be stepping onto stage together as “The Original MISFITS” to headline Riot Fest & Rodeo in Denver, CO (September 2-4, 2016) and Riot Fest & Carnival in Chicago, IL (September 16-18, 2016).

From the time of their first gig in 1977, the MISFITS and their iconic imagery went on to become one of the most crucially influential, genre-defying bands to ever emerge from North America, the MISFITS significance extends well beyond the narrowed path of punk rock & hardcore. Although not cognizant of how significant they would become, what the MISFITS achieved in their initial six-year window deconstructed and redefined rock music.

All the while, the MISFITS with Danzig’s unmistakable voice, Only’s ferocious bass sound and the bands anthemic songs, melody-induced choruses and authentically bruising musicianship, cemented their importance with all ensuing generations, whether in arena-filled metal shows or in a sweaty 400-cap club in Tucson. And for the ‘First Time in over Three Decades’, legions of diehard fans from around the world will have the opportunity to hear the Original Band that created thousands of bands in their wake.

POISON IDEA – Declares Indefinite Hiatus; Cancels Upcoming Tour Dates

Upon returning from their successful European Tour which consumed the past several weeks, POISON IDEA has returned home and announced that the band is going on hiatus for an undetermined amount of time. The band has issued that they need to address some health issues and personal matters, and all upcoming shows for the indeterminable future have been cancelled or postponed. Additional details on the band’s future plans will be announced at a later date.

Portland, Oregon’s undisputed kings of punk, POISON IDEA released their critically acclaimed Confuse & Conquer LP through Southern Lord Recordings in April of this year. POISON IDEA‘s new masterpiece proves itself both identifiable and rewarding to listeners who have encountered them at any point from their 1980 birth onwards. Their forceful hardcore pummel is underwritten with dark humor, rage, disdain, and moments of real melancholy well beyond the usual remit of the genre, but it’s to be expected of Portland’s nihilistic champions, proudly unaligned with any other sound out there.

DISSIDENT CLONE – State Of Dysphoria will be released on March 17th, 2015, via Tridroid Records. This is a 4 song EP that blasts its way through with the sonically mixed trio of Metal, Thrash and Punk. The duo that comprises Dissident Clone are: Patrick Morris on guitar/vocals and Chad Brunsell on drums.

I will admit without hesitation that this is one freaking fun EP to listen to! Underground, raw and retro all the way through, this EP is worth that full jar of rainy day beans you’re willing to let go of. Not only musically do Dissident Clone play the Metal, Thrash and Punk combination; Patrick Morris adjusts his vocals very capably based on which style is being played.

Dissident Clone packs an enormous wallop in just these 4 songs, I am very delighted to say. There’s even some groove Metal and haunting riffage going on with their song Eye Of The Wound. The Dee Dee Ramone Exhibition will be held in Dee Dee’s home turf of NYC for the first time ever at the Hotel Chelsea Storefront Gallery (222 West 23rd Street), from December 10th, 2014 – January 1st, 2015. The launch of this exhibit will offer a preview of the soon-to-be-released Fender® Dee Dee Ramone Limited Edition Signature Precision Bass® guitar, a tool used by the enigmatic Ramone to leave his indelible fingerprint on rock history for generations to come.

This historic exhibition sanctioned by the rock legends’ own estate, will celebrate all of the facets of Dee Dee’s long-lasting artistic legacy: a founding member of the Ramones, one of the most influential punk-rock bassists and primary, prolific songwriter of world-famous group, as well as his work in the visual arts – proving that Dee Dee, who began painting more seriously in 1996, was an artist in every sense of the word. The breadth of Dee Dee’s art and achievements is so wide that one of his paintings, to be featured in the exhibit, was recently showcased in a question on America’s favorite quiz show Jeopardy.

Additionally, what makes this exhibition so incredibly unique is Dee Dee’s history with the iconic Hotel Chelsea, which is not only a place he frequented, and at times lived in, but was also the setting for his 2001 novel Chelsea Horror Hotel: A Novel, as well as the focus of many works of art which will be on display in the exhibition. The legendary Hotel Chelsea has been home to generations of writers, artists, musicians, and bohemians and Chelsea Hotels is continuing the dedication to its history and support of the arts through this exhibition.

In addition to featuring Dee Dee’s original art, wardrobe, memorabilia and rare artifacts, the Dee Dee Ramone exhibition will also include iconic photographs by world-famous photographers including Bob Gruen, Mick Rock, Chris Stein (Blondie), Ed Perlstein, Stephanie Chernikowski, Keith Green, Jenny Lens, Stanley Ryan Jones, Jimmy Steinfeldt and more TBA.

Previous exhibits of Dee Dee’s work have been held at La Luz De Jesus and famed street artist Shepard Fairey’s Subliminal Projects galleries in Los Angeles, and is now being presented in New York for the first time.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 1pm to 8pm every day, 7 days a week, starting Dec. 10, 2014 thru Jan. 1, 2015. Holiday hours will be in effect with an early closing on Christmas Eve, closed all of Christmas day, and early closing on New Years Eve. ADMISSION IS FREE! DO NOT MISS IT!!
