From beyond the confines of measurable knowledge comes Apotheosis; fast, brutal, and unearthly 90s-inspired death metal from Denmark’s DEIQUISITOR.
Comprised of veterans of the Danish scene, Apotheosis includes nine new songs recorded at Phlegm Studios in Lejre and mixed and mastered by Greg Wilkinson of Earhammer Productions. Continuing the band’s occult-driven cosmic journey, Apotheosis takes the DEIQUISITOR brand of death metal without losing the uncompromising fist-to-the-face approach heard on previous albums. Apotheosis dwells on occult science, ancient mysteries, and apocalyptic themes.
Extremely Rotten Productions and Night Shroud Records will release Apotheosis on CD, cassette, digital, and vinyl formats on January 20.
Tracklist: Humanoid Striving for Destruction Autosarcophagy The Eyes of Worms Apophis Reflected by the Void Deiquisitor Atomic Assassins Praise the Lord
DEIQUISITOR: Drums: Henrik B.C Guitar and vocals: Thomas F.J Bass and vocals: Daniel A
DEIQUISITOR was formed in 2013 by Henrik B.C and Thomas F.J, both of whom spent time in several Order of the Nonagram bands such as BLODFEST and WOLFSLAIR. The duo has returned to its roots in old-school death metal. Those familiar with Henrik and Thomas’ work in the Danish underground scene will recognize elements of the part appearing in their new material. DEIQUISITOR is fast-paced, aggressive, and atmospheric death metal influenced heavily by the sound and style of bands who ruled the genre in the early 90s.

GOATWHORE will be touring in support of their Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven full-length, released in October via Metal Blade Records. Unquestionably their fiercest, most accomplished album to date in sound, concept, and execution, the twelve-track offering earned the #9 position on Billboard’s Current Hard Music Albums chart upon its first week of release and stands among the most volatile and plainly dangerous records to come out of 2022.
Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven was produced by Jarrett Pritchard (Exhumed, 1349) and tracked primarily at Studio In The Country in Bogalusa, Louisiana under pandemic restrictions. Additionally, the band recruited acclaimed producer Kurt Ballou (Converge, High On Fire, Gatecreeper, Code Orange) to mix the record with final mastering duties handled by Grammy-award winning engineer Ted Jensen (Ghost, Gojira, Cult Of Luna). The record is tied together by the art of longtime collaborator Jordan Barlow whose cryptic use of sigils holds deeper meaning to the record’s totality.
Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven is available on CD, digitally, and LP on multiple color variants. Preview and purchase yours today at:http://metalblade.com/goatwhore.

Wacken Metal Battle Canada announces its return in 2023 to cities across the country. Hosting battles from coast to coast since 2013, Wacken Metal Battle Canadaselects one unsigned Canadian band to perform on one of the world’s most prestigious stages and largest metal festival Wacken Open Air, with over 80,000 people in attendance, held in Wacken, Germany for over 30 years.
WMBC has been on pause since 2019, due to the Covid pandemic, and has hosted battles across Canada from 2013 until 2019, with one skip year in 2017.
Band submissions will open on November 29th at 6 AM PST and close on December 19th at 11:59 PM PST.
Battles will be hosted in the following cities:
Vancouver, BC, Edmonton, AB, Calgary, AB, Toronto, ON, Hamilton, ON, Ottawa, ON, Montreal, QC, and Quebec City, QC.
All bands will be performing in front of experienced music industry professionals who will be making judgments at each qualifying round based on various categories of professionalism and musicianship.
The National Final will be hosted in Toronto, ON in May 2023 (full date to be determined).
WMBC organizer JJ Tartaglia adds:
“Very stoked to be getting this going again after a long 3-year break. Our team is back together and excitement is in the air. Really curious to know what bands have been up to during this time, which new bands have formed, I know there are some hidden gems out there and hope to see them emerge for the Metal Battle.”
Wacken Metal Battle Canada is part of an international competition that sees bands from across the country battle each other for the chance of winning their spot among 29 other countries’ champions, and represent Canada in an international battle of the bands at the world’s largest outdoor metal festival: Wacken Open Air. The battles have been hosted at the festival for over a decade giving independent bands the opportunity to showcase their talents to an international audience along with the chance to win multiple prizes.
How it works: Participating cities will host qualifying rounds plus a city final organized by a local city concert promoter where one band will move forward to the Canadian national final (date and city to be determined). The winner of the national final will move on to perform at the Wacken Open Air 2023 and compete against the winners of 29 other countries in a final global battle. All bands will be judged during battle rounds by respected local music industry representatives.
Extreme Metal Music is proud to announce the release of the one-man black metal band, Croatia’s Tryglav‘s second album “The Ritual” this coming February 2023 to follow the 2019 debut “Night of Whispering Souls” also released on the label.
All the music on “The Ritual” were written by founder Boris Behara with vocals entrusted to vocalist Callum Wright along with mixing and mastering by producer Rocco Pezzin. The songs on the sophomore record began their journey in 2018 as part of Behara’s love for black metal and horror imagery. After many re-compositions and re-arrangements along with interruptions from the world pandemic and his personal health with two open heart surgeries. , “The Ritual” will now see the light once again via Extreme Metal Music, a subsidiary of Italian label Rockshots Records.
“After three years, a world pandemic, and two open heart surgeries, I’m proud that the album I worked hard on is finally seeing the light! This time I wanted something more than just individual horror stories, that’s why I worked so hard to put out an original concept story based on Plague Doctors, which are the trademark of this band since the beginning. This album has seen so many difficulties, but finally, after three long years, it’s here! I hope fans will enjoy it as much I did create it!”
Tryglav‘s sound is aggressive, melodic, modern, and emotionally epic black metal, and fans of its predecessor will notice a maturity in sound and lyrics. The story behind the album is set in the 17th century as Tryglav explains further:
“On a dark stormy night, a dying man sighed his last breath. Nothing his parents could do to save his life. A Plague Doctor was called. Four of them showed up, taking the dead body with them. The family knew that they would never see him again. What they didn’t know was that he would come back, in an unimaginable way..”
Tryglav is recommended for fans of Dark Funeral, Dissection, and Uada.

New York-based old-school, all-female death squad CASTRATOR have launched the video for “Inquisition Sins,” the newest track off their forthcoming album DefiledinOblivion. The song features a guest guitar solo from OBITUARY guitarist Kenny Andrews.
Drummer Carolina Perez, who edited and produced the video, comments on the song, “The lyrics talk about the Catholic Church dark era of the Inquisition terror when “witches were burnt alive” (regular people) for being wise or just being themselves.”
The video comes via an exclusive premiere hosted by Brooklyn Vegan. Watch “Inquisition Sins” now at this location.
With their third release to date, the New York four-piece have perfected their blend of fierce old-school USDM to a fault. More uncompromising and ruthless than ever before, CASTRATOR’s zero-fucks-given approach rips and shreds across 9 hypnotically violent new tracks (alongside a cover of Venom’s Countess Bathory) and makes DefiledinOblivion a release to be reckoned with. Boys club beware!
Revolver Magazine, Brooklyn Vegan, Decibel Magazine, and Gimme Metal Radio are all offering limited edition vinyl variants of DefiledinOblivion. Each edition is limited to 100 copies.

RIVERSOFNIHIL released TheWork last Fall on Metal Blade Records. The band has never fit neatly into a box, but with 2018’s WhereOwlsKnowMyName, they transcended all labels applied to them. Returning in 2021 with TheWork, they’ve forged further into new territory, delivering an album that’s as cerebral as it is visceral, and that covers a staggering sonic range, definitively placing them in a category of their own. Inarguably a dense, heavy collection, TheWork is far too dynamic to be considered a solely metal record and there is a genuine warmth that shows through, particularly tracks like “Wait” and the gorgeous “Maybe One Day.”
Additionally, the band has incorporated far more clean vocals alongside the screaming that tears through many of the record’s heavier tracks. Courtesy of their friend Zach Strouse, saxophone once again adds extra layers of atmosphere to the collection, utilizing baritone, soprano, and alto saxes to great effect.
Following their recent run supporting Carcass and Immolation, CREEPINGDEATH will return to the stage this August on a North American headlining tour. The trek begins August 16th in El Paso, Texas, runs through September 18th in Austin, Texas, and includes performances at this year’s edition of Psycho Las Vegas and Full Terror Assault. Support will be provided by 200StabWounds and Tribal Gaze as well as Ingrown, SpiritWorld, VomitForth, Age Of Apocalypse, and labelmates PlagueYears on select dates.
Comments the band, “We’re extremely excited to embark on our first headlining tour later this Summer. We can’t wait to hit the road with such an eclectic group of bands. We’ll see you all very soon!”
Tickets go on sale Friday, June 10th! See all confirmed dates below.
CREEPINGDEATH continues to tour in support of their most recent release TheEdge Of Existence EP, unleashed last year via MNRKHeavy. With a nod to crossover masters Iron Age, a bit of the tech-death of Cryptopsy, a foundation of forebearers Death, CREEPINGDEATH summons a vibrant sound somehow both familiar and fresh. TheEdge Of Existence EP further demonstrates the power, fury, and outright revelry at the heart of the band’s identity.
Captured at Homewrecker Recording Studio in Tucson, Arizona and produced and mixed by Ryan Bram (Gatecreeper, Bitter Rivals, Sex Prisoner), the six-song EP introduces three new certified hellraisers — “Relics From The Past,” “Humanity Transcends,” and the title track — alongside remade and revitalized versions of the three songs from the band’s 2016 debut EP — “Sacrament Of Death,” “Doused In Flames,” and “Skinned Alive.”
TheEdge Of Existence EP is available on CD, cassette, digitally and vinyl at THIS LOCATION.

CANNIBALCORPSE continues to tour in support of their critically adored ViolenceUnimagined full-length, released last year via Metal Blade Records. Comprising eleven tracks, ViolenceUnimagined is state of the art death metal played with passion and breathless precision, making for another flawless addition to what is inarguably one of the premier catalogues of the genre.
While they continue to do what they do with aplomb, the one substantial change to CANNIBALCORPSE is the addition of guitarist Erik Rutan to their ranks, joining bassist Alex Webster, founding drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz, guitarist Rob Barrett, and vocalist George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher. Known for his roles in Morbid Angel, Ripping Corpse, and most notably fronting the mighty Hate Eternal, Rutan has long established himself as one of the most dynamic forces in contemporary death metal. Simultaneously, he has built up a reputation as one of the most in demand producers in metal, having previously produced four CANNIBALCORPSE albums (in addition to ViolenceUnimagined), alongside the likes of Goatwhore, Soilent Green, and Belphegor. Filling in live on guitar since 2019, in 2020 he became a full member, contributing to the writing process.

Moscow (RU) – Progressive instrumental extremists EPOCH CRYSIS are proud to announce the re-release of 2011 full-length debut album Rex. The remastered album will be released on February 20.
The EPOCH CRYSIS story begins in 2001 in Moscow, Russia. Originally created as an experimental studio instrumental project, EPOCH CRYSIS consistently surprised even the most experienced connoisseurs of extreme metal subgenres.
In 2015 EPOCH CRYSIS experienced a rebirth with the help of guitarist Andrey Gostyukhin. During the same period the band recorded vocals for some tracks that had already experienced a “second birth” as full songs. In the near future the group will complete the rewriting of these tracks and compose new songs.
Bigfoot-inspired death metal band TROGLODYTE has re-emerged from the Missouri wilderness with their newest bloody slab of brutality, The Hierarchical Ecological Succession: WelcometotheFoodChain.
The album’s first single comes in the form of an 8-bit lyric video for the song “Meat Your Maker,” featuring guest vocals by RossSewage (EXHUMED, GHOUL, IMPALED). Ross had this to say about his contribution: “I was pleased as punch when the mutants in Troglodyte asked me to be a part of their music track, ‘Meat Your Maker.’ This was in fact because they punched me, repeatedly, until I meekly gurgled out my parts. Don’t fuck with Troglodyte.”
“Meat Your Maker” is also available on all streaming platforms.
The band’s long-awaited fourth album features a rouge’s gallery of names from the metal community. ORIGIN bassist Mike Flores, who has taken part in numerous live shows with the band for years, is making his first studio appearance, writing and recording bass on the new album. BrentPurgason (aka PustulusMaximus of GWAR), ShwanKnight (CHILD BITE), and RossSewage (EXHUMED, GHOUL, IMPALED) also make guest appearances.
BloodBlastDistribution will release TheHierarchicalEcologicalSuccession: WelcometotheFoodChain on all streaming platforms on 3/5/22.
TheHierarchicalEcologicalSuccession: WelcometotheFoodChain was recorded and mixed by Ryan Vincent/Apollo Audio Alt (Misery Index, Scour). Album artwork by Dusty Peterson (Cattle Decapitation, Six Feet Under, Lamb of God).
TROGLODYTE has been battering audiences with their unique brand of knuckle-dragging metal for well over a decade. Created by special effect artist and music video director Jeff Sisson as an homage to all things Bigfoot, the “creature-features” of the ’70s-’80s and classic death metal.
With titles like “Bring Me the Head of Bigfoot,” “Mummified Yeti Hand,” “Murderous Bi-Pedal Hominid Rampage (Where are My Legs?)” and “Entrails Torn from a Cryptid’s Gut,” these songs are not for the faint of heart or those without a sense of humor.
Appearances at the annual Gwar BQ, Detroit’s Berserker, Las Vegas Death Fest, and Denver’s Black Sky festival, as well as hundreds of shows supporting touring acts such as HATEBREED, ROB ZOMBIE, and GWAR, have made them crowd favorites.
The current line-up features Mike Flores from ORIGIN, as well as Michael Langner and Brandon Mitchell from TORNTHEFUCKAPART.

VORAATH, the brutal horror-inspired extreme metal band featuring members from Nile, Xael, Rapheumets Well, Implosive Disgorgence, and Sweet Blood are unleashing their next single “The Barrens” to follow their debut single and music video “Siren Head” directed by drummer Joshua Nassaru Ward and released this past November.
As part of the band’s vivid storytelling, “The Barrens” kickstarts another musical odyssey. Picture a dystopian Earth around the year 2136 and more than 80 percent of the world’s population disappeared after the arrival of an alien species. The music follows a group of mercenaries employed by The Eos Corporation to locate and retrieve something referred to as “the nexus key” in which they run into some complicated and dangerous resistance. Since the arrival of the “Cosmic Architects” strange creatures now roam the dystopian planet. The music is meant to portray the dire and odd environment in which the story unfolds.
The track is just a preview from the otherworldly and experimental metal act based out of the Carolinas as they work on recording their forthcoming full length.
Coming together only during September 2021, Voraath features Brad Parris (Nile) on vocals and guitar, Joshua Nassaru Ward (Xael, Rapheumets Well) on drums, vocals and keys, along with Paul McBride (Implosive Disgorgence, Sweet Blood) on bass, and guitarists Daniel Presnell and Tylor Kohl. The band first began as a vessel for them as musicians to continue touring and writing.
“We wanted to explore even further integrating science fantasy, soundscapes, and metal. This will be something new bringing together emotional yet brutal music and science fantasy so we hope to appeal to both metal enthusiasts as well as those who appreciate the lore of the music.” adds the band.
Transporting fans to a different world, Voraath plans to offer up both escapism and music that relates to them on a personal level. For their live performance, the band has lots of on-stage theatrics and costuming to bring the storytelling to life. It will be both intense and immersive.
Voraath is recommended for fans of death metal, black metal, and 80’s movie soundtracks.

THEBLACK DAHLIA MURDER will be touring in support of their Verminous full-length, released last Spring via Metal Blade Records. Without compromising one iota of heaviness, Verminous is unquestionably the band’s most dynamic, rousing, and emotional release to date. That this is a new phase for THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER is apparent as the compellingly filthy opening title track rumbles to life, and the album remains gripping for each of the nine tracks that follow. Destined to be one of 2022’s most hailed and talked-about releases, Immutable once again showcases MESHUGGAH’s collective brilliance, including some of the most jaw-dropping ensemble performances they have ever executed.
Six years on from the band’s most recent full-length, The Violent Sleep Of Reason, 2022 brings a fresh and fearsome revelation from MESHUGGAH. Shattering even the highest of expectations, the band’s ninth album is simply their wildest and most esoteric sonic adventure yet and will be released on April 1st via AtomicFire. Recorded at Sweetspot Studios in Halmstad (Sweden), mixed by Rickard Bengtsson and Staffan Karlsson and mastered by multiple Grammy award winner Vlado Meller(Metallica, Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, System Of A Down), Immutable will be available in various CD, vinyl, and tape formats. Presales will begin on January 28th, and the first single will be revealed very soon. The stunning cover artwork was once again created by visionary artist Luminokaya.
For guitarist Mårten Hagström, the task of embarking on another unprecedented tech-metal odyssey was impossible to resist.
“The title fits perfectly for where we are as a band,” Hagström concludes. “We’re older now. Most of us are in our fifties now and we’ve settled into who we are. Even though we’ve been experimenting all along, I also think we’ve been the same since day one. The way we approach things and why we still make new albums, and why we still sound the way we do, it’s immutable. Humanity is immutable, too. We commit the same mistakes over and over. And we are immutable. We do what we do, and we don’t change.”
Legendary. Unique. Immutable.
MESHUGGAH is still operating on a higher level of metallic consciousness than just about everybody else. This band blow minds for a living, and Immutable is their most explosive work of monstrous art yet.
MESHUGGAH stand alone. The most inventive and creative metal band of the last thirty years and one of the most widely revered, MESHUGGAH has been standard bearers for forward-thinking creativity in heavy music throughout their illustrious careers. Over the course of more than three decades and eight studio albums, Sweden’s widely worshipped progressive mavens have consistently redefined what it means to be heavy, while exhibiting a ferocious intelligence that belies the crushing weight of their riffs. From the ground-breaking savagery of 1995’s Destroy Erase Improve, to the psychedelic tech-splorations of CatchyThirtyThree, and on to the streamlined grotesquery of ObZen and Koloss, MESHUGGAH has always been way ahead of the game and plainly without peer.

San Francisco (CA) – Brutal Death/Industrial Metal healers MÆNTRA have released a Drum/Guitar Playthrough Video for “Svadhisthana,” the first single from forthcoming debut album Kundalini Rising. Featuring Adam Houmam (drums) and Rudy Pina (guitar), the video is available at the following link: youtu.be/kW1rjY88pPg and below:
MÆNTRA will release Kundalini Rising on February 18.
A lyric video for “Svadhisthana” is also available at youtu.be/4bOyD6SQZYc. The single is streaming on Bandcamp as well.
13.8 billion years ago, the universe was born from a big bang and consciousness was created through the sound of OM. From the journey of billions of years of evolution, survival, death, rebirth, wars, peace, and music emerges MÆNTRA, a quartet committed to helping their listeners find their own personal light by playing in the darkness and embracing aggression. MÆNTRA lays their meditative lyrics on top of a unique blend of brutal death metal, industrial sounds, atmospheric tones, and intentional healing energy.
It is said that by simply playing the debut album, Kundalini Rising, the listener is brought to a state of euphoria and dissolution of the ego. Time no longer has meaning and the past and present don’t exist. Layering a sonically aggressive sound with intentional healing and empowering lyrics, this journey of releasing demons and rejuvenating the soul is grounded in a tour of the seven chakras, guiding listeners through the healing process to release tension, erase limited beliefs, and improve overall physical and mental clarity. Fans can expect in person healing through MÆNTRA’s unique live experience shortly thereafter.
MÆNTRA was formed in 2017 through the current third dimensional incarnations of guitarist and vocalist Rudy Pina and drummer Adam Houmam (Cartilage, Ghoul, Terrorizer L.A.). The universe then brought Paul Ryan (Origin) on bass/vocals and keyboardist Martin Boynton (Short Fuse) to complete the team.
