FAITH NO MORE – STATEMENT ON TOUR CANCELATION

Posted in Heavy Metal with tags , , on September 14, 2021 by Metal Odyssey

Sept. 14, 2021 – Faith No More have issued a statement regarding the band’s tour cancelation:

“To say that we feel shattered by these cancellations would be a complete understatement. It has been a real challenge to return to this music after a 5 year absence, but we have been working hard for a few months now, and these last few rehearsals left no doubt that we were back to top form, which makes this statement very difficult to write.

Coming on almost two years of pandemic and lack of work, it has been heartbreaking to give our crew the news. We consider our crew like family. And then, equally importantly, we are aware of what this means to our fans, who have been patiently supporting us– hoping, as we have, for a break in this frustrating situation. Many folks have taken isolation quite hard, and patiently waited as shows have been postponed time and time again. This will be tough for them.

And yet in spite of all this, we have a family member who needs help. We believe that forging ahead with these dates would have had a profoundly destructive effect on Mike, whose value to us as a brother means more to us than his job as singer. He can count on our 100% support to do what he needs to do to get things right. Just as we also ask for your support right now.

Thank you for continuing to believe in us.”

– Bill, Jon, Mike B. & Roddy”

The band comments:

Rise Forth” is the title track from the first full-length album from SIREN’S RAIN. A battle song, “Rise Forth” has a Viking metal feel to it, complimented by group frame drums, reminiscent of the ominous drums of war parties. Rich Hurst, vocalist of JESUS WEARS ARMANI and armoured combat fighter, lends his voiceover talents to the track. The unrelenting ending of the song was written to encourage maximum audience participation in the pit.”

SCATTERED HAMLET – TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM

Posted in Heavy Metal with tags , on August 19, 2021 by Metal Odyssey

SCATTERED HAMLET are pleased to announce that they will release their album Stereo Overthrow on November 12 2021. The album is the follow up to their 2016 full-length Swamp Rebel Machine which landed at number 10 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.

Front man Adam Joad commented: “Stereo Overthrow is basically a middle finger in the air to the entire last year, the music industry trying to mold us into a specific format, and basically anything trying to hold you back…”

SCATTERED HAMLET was formed in 2010 by lead vocalist Adam Joad and has relentlessly toured all over the states with widespread appeal from their down to earth accessibility, blue collar work ethic and outlaw vibe. Making an impact from the outset, the title track opens with a burst of energy, distorted guitars, and dynamic vocals. Launching riff after riff the distorted guitars are a fierce force across their tracks, SCATTERED HAMLET creates a compelling sound with intricate guitar leads and mighty rhythms. From the aggressive mood of “Death or Dishonor” befitting a barroom brawl, through to the bluesy rocking “Low Class Blues”, Stereo Overthrow isn’t afraid to explore a variety of styles.

SCATTERED HAMLET has produced a dynamic album that brings bucket loads of attitude, epic riffs and a thriving rock spirit. Not holding back and ploughing through any obstacles that get in their way, Stereo Overthrow is a thrilling road trip not to be missed.

DUST PROPHET – Stream New Single

Posted in Heavy Metal with tags , , , on August 18, 2021 by Metal Odyssey

Manchester, New Hampshire’s DUST PROPHET are streaming their new single “The High Capital” via The Ripple Effect. The song is inspired by John Milton’s Paradise Lost and will be released on their upcoming album which is set to come out in spring of 2022.

Listen: https://ripplemusic.blogspot.com/2021/08/dust-prophet-premieres-video-for-new.html

Drawing inspiration from humanity’s fragile existence, as well as genre-defining bands like BLACK SABBATH, KYUSS, ELECTRIC WIZARD, TOOL and CLUTCH, DUST PROPHET is poised to take the stoner & doom metal world by storm.

Guitarist/Vocalist Otto Kinzel commented:

I have always loved apocalyptic literature and the vivid imagery that comes from it. Paradise Lost is a legendary piece of literature that has inspired countless artists, and I’m no exception. I wanted to write lyrics that explored the regret of our decisions, and that “oh I really screwed up“ realization that comes with self-reflection and hindsight. You can see how Lucifer goes through this process before finally accepting his fate, which is a fate he brought upon himself.  Even though it’s a work of fiction, I relate to that feeling, as I’m sure many of us do. So lyrically The High Capital is about the story of the Fallen Angel, but it’s also about my own personal regrets and having to accept that I have made my own fate.”

THE BLOODSHOTS – To Release New Single ‘Bad Moon Rising‘

Posted in Heavy Metal with tags , , on August 13, 2021 by Metal Odyssey

Canadian rockers THE BLOODSHOTS are back to follow up the success of their smash single ‘No Way Out’ with a modern, dirtied up version of the classic Credence Clearwater Revival tune, ‘Bad Moon Rising’ and BOY does it rip!

Recorded during the pandemic, you can hear the anguish come out as The Bloodshot boys tear through this classic, with vocals that cut through like a hot shower for cold bones. ‘Bad Moon Rising’ will be released digitally via Golden Robot Records on the 31st of August.

“We wanted to stay in the theme of the pandemic with police brutality, riots and so on. It’s funny how this song can be as relevant today as it was when originally released. ‘Bad Moon Rising’ has kicked around our set for a good few years and it always gets the party going – so we figured, why not release it as a single?” – The Bloodshots front man, CJ Loane

ABOUT THE BLOODSHOTS

The Bloodshots are a rock band from Western Canada. These boys can be seen performing alongside rock music’s greats, including Finger Eleven, Buckcherry, Danko Jones, Moist, Econoline Crush, One Bad Son, Three Days Grace, Monster Truck, Steel Panther, SLASH, The Lazys, Jet Set Satellite, Hawthorne Heights, Senses Fail and many more.

From small town dives to casino stages and concert halls, these blue-collar boys have proven that they have what it takes to grab the next rung of the ladder. With the support of Canadian FM Rock and Indigenous stations, The Bloodshots have been expanding their listener base aggressively. Growing traction on streaming platforms has proven to bolster their already rapidly expanding base of fans, through repeat listeners and playlist placement. Online might be your best shot at hearing the band on recording since they can’t quite seem to keep any physical copies on hand: that’s how quickly they’re selling them out, but it doesn’t stop there…

The momentum built by working with past producers Dale Penner, John Paul Peters, Sean Dealy and Steve Rizun is propelling this freight train right through the station.

HARDCORE SUPERSTAR TO RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘CATCH ME IF YOU CAN’

Posted in Heavy Metal with tags , , , on August 6, 2021 by Metal Odyssey

‘Catch Me If You Can’ is the explosive new single from Sweden’s finest export of street metal, HARDCORE SUPERSTAR, and is scheduled to be released on all digital platforms on August 20th.

‘Catch Me If You Can’ picks up the pace and builds on the momentum created by the band’s highly successful 2018 release ‘You Can’t Kill My Rock N’ Roll’. This saw the band travel across the globe from America to Australia, playing to some of the largest audiences of their career and including an unforgettable night; where they broke an attendance record for a headline act on the opening night of the world famous Sweden Rock Festival.

Loud, aggressive and totally unrelenting, ‘Catch Me If You Can’ bursts out the speakers with an onslaught of attitude, combined with a pounding backbeat and a chorus that hits like a freight train. This single sets the tone perfectly for the band’s upcoming album Abrakadabra, which is scheduled for release in March 2022.

Recorded at both Osterlycken and Bombastik in Musikhens Hus in Gothenburg, the band returned to their roots to work with acclaimed producer Johan Reiven, who they previously collaborated with on their 2005 Black Album. The result is an intense and hard-hitting collection of songs that drummer Adde Moon describes as a “natural follow up to the Black album” and definitely “an album for the fans that is best shared with good friends, cold beer and very loud speakers.”

AUTOGRAPH – ‘Turn Up The Radio’ 45rpm Treasure Find

Posted in Metal with tags , , , on June 11, 2021 by Metal Odyssey

A couple of years ago I found this 45rpm of AutographsTurn Up The Radio, at a thrift store. It cost a mere 50 cents. Yes, 50 cents! I was lucky to find this; usually 80s Heavy Metal is nowhere to be found at a thrift store. Collectors tend to hoard the good stuff like this.

I was fortunate to see Autograph open for the fabulous Heart in the latter half of the 80s. Those were the glorious Arena days. I’ve been their fan ever since. Turn Up The Radio is from Autographs’ 1984 debut album: Sign In Please.

Below are more pics of this 45rpm. It’s in excellent playable condition too, with no scratches or scuffs.

Two Giants Of Metal GEORGE LYNCH And JEFF PILSON Reteam For A Killer Covers Album Heavy Hitters!

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Music, music news, news, rock music, rock music news, world news with tags , , , , , , , on December 11, 2020 by Metal Odyssey

Los Angeles, CA – Guitar-shredding virtuoso George Lynch has reteamed with former Dokken bandmate Jeff Pilson for a set of new studio recordings that turn pop music classics into powerful metal anthems! The two have previously made metal magic together as a duo on the 2003 album Wicked Underground, which was recently reissued on vinyl, as well as with other projects such as T&N and The End Machine. But this new batch of recordings, entitled appropriately enough Heavy Hitters, stands apart not only for its outstanding roster of players and vocalists including head Bulletboy Marq Torien, Fishbone’s Angelo Moore, Kansas native Wil Martin (Earshot) and drummer Brian Tichy (Whitesnake/Ozzy) but for the jaw-dropping song selection. If you’ve ever wondered what an amped-up, full-throttle version of Carole King’s “I Feel The Earth Move” or Prince’s “Kiss” or Oasis’ “Champagne Supernova” or Madonna’s “Music,” then this is the album for you!

As a special treat, the band has released the first single from the album – a powerful rendition of Duran Duran’s “Ordinary World” – featuring Martin on vocals, offering just a small taste of what’s in store.

As Lynch himself explains, “I was never a huge Duran Duran fan but I always loved this song. It was just so majestic and emotional. It was an honor and a challenge to cover it in that we had to thread the needle between respecting the original vision of the arrangement but putting our stamp on it as well.”

Pilson, meanwhile, says “The purpose of this whole record, besides having a lot of fun making it, was to take amazing hit songs and interpret them in a way that was true to the greatness of the original but that also brought something new and fresh to the song. ‘Ordinary World’ is such a great melodic and emotional song, a song I think George and I have always loved. We just wanted to add some heaviness, a little George Lynch soulful playing and then let Wil fly with that phenomenal voice.”

QUEENSRŸCHE FRONTMAN TODD LA TORRE To Release Debut Solo Album ‘Rejoice In The Suffering’

Posted in Hard Rock, Music, music news, news, rock music, world news with tags , , , , on December 4, 2020 by Metal Odyssey

(New York, NY 12/04/2020)As global touring came to a sudden and unexpected halt earlier this year, Queensrÿche frontman Todd La Torre has been using his recent pandemic downtime to put the finishing touches on his debut solo album Rejoice In The Suffering. The idea for a solo album was always in the cards for Todd. With Queensrÿche tour dates postponed indefinitely, the world events offered Todd the opportunity to explore his ideas for Rejoice In The Suffering. Todd teamed up with longtime friend and collaborator Craig Blackwell and alongside producer Chris “Zeuss” Harris created a diverse heavy metal album that draws influence from different styles. These styles will surprise fans who only know La Torre from his previous work with Queensrÿche or Crimson Glory before that. Rejoice In The Suffering is scheduled for release globally on February 5, 2021 via Rat Pak Records.

Rejoice In The Suffering was truly a labor of love. It’s a pure metal record that certainly showcases a wide range of my vocal abilities. I feel there is something for any true fan of metal on this album. This album is full of groove, dynamics, power, and substance and I can’t wait for people to hear it,” explains Todd La Torre.

From the album’s opening riffs of “Dogmata” to the vocal acrobatics that drive the album closer “Apology,” it is apparent that Todd La Torre has a true love of heavy metal. Playing drums and recording the vocals for the album, songs like “Darkened Majesty” and “Critical Cynic” offer an inside look into the musical mind of La Torre. Craig Blackwell’s guitar playing provides the perfect musical accents to La Torre’s vocals. Todd even finds vocal wails not heard from him before as showcased on the title track and the punishing “Vanguards of the Dawn Wall.” The deluxe version of the album features 3 bonus tracks: “Fractured,” “Set It Off” and “One by One.”

Rat Pak Records Set To Release Debut Album “Mother’s Day” From ALTA REIGN

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, music news, news, rock music, world news with tags , , , , , on November 26, 2020 by Metal Odyssey

TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA/SAVATAGE AND FORMER METAL CHURCH DRUMMER JEFF PLATE LAUNCHES NEW PROJECT ALTA REIGN

Jeff Plate has joined forces with TSO keyboardist Jane Mangini and some amazing new talent to form his “years in the making” band Alta Reign. Plate and Mangini, along with Tommy Cook (guitars/lead vocals), Collin Holloway (guitars/lead vocals), Kevin McCarthy (bass, vocals) and Zach Hamilton (keyboards, guitars/vocals), will be releasing Alta Reign’s debut album Mother’s Day on January 8, 2021 via Rat Pak Records. The album is a reflection of dedication as the initial idea spawned 30 years ago and ended in 2020 with the album now being released in 2021.

States drummer Jeff Plate, “Beginning in a rehearsal room in Rockland, Ma. 30 years ago and ending in this insane year of 2020, “Mother’s Day”  is the end result of years of writing, listening, learning, planning and waiting for the right moment to put this all together. Everyone involved has been the perfect combination of effort and talent to complete the ideas and songs that have been kicking around in my head for years. I could not be prouder to share this album with the world, this is Alta Reign.”

From the album’s opening riffs of  “Shine” to the majestic “Mother’s Day”, the reflective mood of  “Always” and the mindful closer “Rise”, Alta Reign has created something very different and original. Drawing from his history, his influences and his heroes, Plate has combined Melodic, Progressive, Hard Rock and straight up Metal to create a unique landscape for the listener. Other TSO brethren make an appearance on Mother’s Day as guitarist Joel Hoekstra can be heard on the title track and guitarist Chris Caffery shows up on “Rise”. Songs like “Thin Red Line”, the frenetic instrumental “ESC (Escape)” and “Let’s Go! (I’m In Charge Now)” present every indication that the talent of these musicians is limitless.

“I have known Jeff for 20 years through the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I had the honor of playing with him on ‘Beethoven’s Last Night’ Tour in 2010. The most fun I had on that tour was soundcheck, actually his soundcheck. He would play the coolest riffs and I probably annoyed him playing along, but I always thought how great it would be to put something together with him. Ten years later I got a call and I’m pretty sure I said yes before he even finished asking me. I’m so very happy that I fit in”, explains keyboardist Jane Mangini.
