Norwegian heavy metal trio Coffin Storm have unveiled a brand-new video today for their blistering track ‘Open The Gallows’. The 10 minute epic, taken from their 2024 debut album Arcana Rising, comes alongside a brilliant new video by Matthew Vickerstaff steeped in medieval and supernatural brutality.
Featuring Kolbotn veterans Apollyon (Aura Noir, Lamented Souls) and Bestial Tormentor (Infernö, Lamented Souls), the lineup is completed by Fenriz of Darkthrone on vocals.
Speaking on the new video and his inspiration behind the track, Apollyon said, “Open The Gallows is the longest track I have ever made. Initially we were thinking instrumental old Metallica style with loads of guitar melodies and shit. Apart from the opening/ending though, there’s not much Metallica in there. The main riff is Kreator-inspired if anything. Fortunately, we ended up having Fenriz sing on it after all because the vocal lines are amazing.
This being an all Kolbotn project we invited Arild from Obliteration/Abhorration/Necromantheon/Black Viper to do a legendary long-ass guitar lead as well.
Either way I thought the song deserved a video and Mr Matthew Vickerstaff came up with this idea to use clips from old B-movies. He did a fantastic job with collecting and editing, making it an exciting 10 minutes plus watch. Enjoy!”
On the prospect of new material in the future, Apollyon says:
“Arcana Rising seemed to go down really well with people, and we have plenty of material left in the vaults for an album number two, and always new ideas coming also, so work is progressing slowly but surely amid all the other things we have going on currently. Keep your eyes peeled!”

The Defect is an electronic rock/metal project created by husband and wife duo – Jonny McBee (The Browning) and Moon McBee. Their debut album “Death X Destiny” was recently released on Feb 7th, 2025 under record label FiXT. From the Salish lands of Spokane, WA, Hísemtuks Hími•n introduce their Indigenous melodic black metal of hard hitting riffs, fast paced drumming and a lot of melody. This project has strong roots in the Spokane Tribe/Nez Perce. Most songs are about Native American mythology, history, and folklore.

40 years of Balls To The Wall: This milestone anniversary of ACCEPT’s iconic album simply couldn’t remain uncelebrated by DIRKSCHNEIDER, U.D.O.’s incarnation to pay tribute to the musical past of their frontman Udo Dirkschneider. Oakland, California-based crossover faction DOOMSDAY presents their new single, “Never Known Peace,” now streaming everywhere. The incinerating new song is the title track to the band’s debut LP, nearing release in March.
Formed in 2018 by members from different parts of the Bay Area metal and hardcore scene, DOOMSDAY delivers a crushing brew of crossover/thrash with divebomb-fueled intensity. Following several demos and singles and heavy live attacks throughout the Bay Area and beyond, the band entered the international spotlight with the 2022 release of their Depictions Of Chaos EP.
DOOMSDAY toured across the West Coast with Upon Stone, Extinguish, Mutually Assured Destruction, Darkness Everywhere, and more, honing their already deadly craft to incinerating new levels of precision and aggression, which now shows through on the succinct slam of their eponymous EP, released in 2023 to critical praise and resulting in more live opportunities.
Now, DOOMSDAY is finally prepared to unload their debut LP, Never Known Peace, a record which sees the band further embracing their thrash metal and crossover influences and delivering an all-out shredding thrash salvo. Ten ripping tracks that surge with the energy of the thrash metal bedrock that lines their Bay Area hometown like it’s 1986. Technical flair and spiraling divebomb-laden precision fuels the percussive riff assault.
Never Known Peace was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Zack Ohren at Sharkbite Studios (Machine Head, Suffocation, Darkness Everywhere), and features guest solos on “Holy Justice” and “Remnants Of Spite” by Andrew Lee (Ripped To Shreds). Vocalist Charlie D. states, “I wanted this song to reflect how I felt being at my lowest while still having the most ass-beater song we’ve ever written. I don’t want to be a metal band that is afraid to talk about our most vulnerable moments. The feeling of being irredeemable, of being beyond saving and wanting to end it all is something we’ve all felt in some way or another; having this inner turmoil, never knowing any peace, and feeling like you’ve always have and will be this way. We got really inspired by Chaos A.D. by Sepultura with this track, especially by “Propaganda,” and we wanted to channel the energy of that song, and I definitely feel like we delivered. Having something that you can both headbang and mosh to is the D-Day motto.”

State of Mind, the Texas-based heavy metal outfit known for its powerful blend of classic metal and raw emotion, has recently released its second EP “Sanity of Madness”on February 7, 2025, via Self-Made Records with distribution from Earache Records. Everything about LÖANSHARK is old-school and like a flashback into the early 80s metal scene. “This is what we feel and what we are, so it’s kinda impossible for us to not sound old-school, because it is in our DNA”,bassist Aless recently said. “For the cover artwork, we wanted that 80’s movie atmosphere, something eye catchy, dangerous, exciting and sexy! So we have choosen a smoky alley as the setting, long and sexy female legs, that hide a lethal weapon behind them, and there we are, about to die at the hands of this hitwoman who already has “another man in the trunk”. We want to maintain that “mafia” atmosphere in our work, we want it to be our identifying seal, in accordance with the name we chose for the band.”
LÖANSHARK was founded as a power-trio in 2017, in the heart of Barcelona and is currently taking the scene by storm as an uprising star on the NWOTHM heaven, just alongside Spanish fellow acts such as HITTEN, SAVAGED, WITCHTOWER or IRON CURTAIN. Another virtue we have is, that we are what you hear on the album. We try not to be pretentious with the production and when you see us live you will get a very similar experience. Mr Lordi explains: “Hellizabeth is another typical LORDI song, both lyrically and musically. It’s styled in the vein of a horror film storyboard about a woman’s ghost house haunting experience. Musically, I think the main WOW moment is the weirdly progressive beginning of the song. It stems from childhood memories of trying to learn to play an instrument. It’s actually just the vocal melody of the verse being played in the style of a nine year-old, with the whole band playing the same thing in unison and nothing in between. That’s how at least my brain worked with music as a kid, before I realized ‘Oh, the vocal melody is different and the stuff in the background is supposed to give it harmony and chorus!”
