May 13th, 2022 will mark the release of DEMIRICOUS‘ third studio album III: ChaoticLethal. After an extended hiatus, the heavy quartet are preparing to unleash a brutal new record.
The band comments: “It’s been 15 years since we’ve released a record. We are so unbelievably proud of this one, and this is the DEMIRICOUS record we’ve always wanted to make. Prepare yourselves. It’s a fucking monster.”
Initially formed in early 2002, DEMIRICOUS released their debut album One (Hellbound) on Metal Blade Records in 2005 pushing them into early success with a global fanbase. Their follow-up album, Two (Poverty) also on Metal Blade Records, was released in 2007. Now, in 2022, DEMIRICOUS are returning even harder and heavier than before.
More information to follow soon.

There are few rock guitarists on this planet who’ve had such a lasting influence on so many renowned musicians as MICHAEL SCHENKER. With his outstandingly fluid style, inexhaustible wealth of ideas, and instinctive feel for hooks and melodies, MICHAEL SCHENKER is a living legend who, despite his longstanding and distinguished history, still impresses with his unflagging energy and drive.
The blond stringsman from Sarstedt, Germany began his international career in the early 1970s with the Scorpions, achieved worldwide fame after joining British rock group U.F.O., and then seamlessly continued his exceptional global success story under his own name, as well as with acts such as MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP (otherwise known as MSG), Temple Of Rock, and MICHAEL SCHENKER Fest. SCHENKER and his career, which has spanned more than five decades, are absolute exceptions in the otherwise short-lived music industry.
Now his latest MSG album is about to be unleashed, scheduled for release on Atomic Fire Records on May 27th under the programmatic moniker of Universal. His latest offering will feature all the strengths of this exceptional musician: first-rate songs with anthemic melodies, catchy guitar riffs, and inspiring solos.
As we have come to expect from him, SCHENKER has once again enlisted a number of prestigious fellow musicians for the recording of his new studio production, among them, as main vocalist, Ronnie Romero (Rainbow, Vandenberg), who will also be MSG’s frontman on their upcoming tour, Michael Kiske (Helloween), and Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear), keyboard player Steve Mann (Lionheart), drummers Simon Phillips (Toto, The Who), Brian Tichy (Whitesnake, Foreigner), Bobby Rondinelli (Rainbow), and Bodo Schopf (Eloy), as well as legendary bassists Bob Daisley (Black Sabbath), Barry Sparks (Yngwie Malmsteen, Dokken), and BarendCourbois (Blind Guardian, Zakk Wylde), with Tony Carey as a very special guest. But more about that later.
First, let’s talk about the basic parameters of the new recording: Like its predecessor Immortal (2021) and the MICHAELSCHENKERFest albums Resurrection (2018) and Revelation (2019), Universal was produced by MICHAEL SCHENKER and Michael Voss (Lessmann/Voss, Mad Max) at Voss’s Kidroom Studio, which has become something of a creative home-away-from-home for SCHENKER. “Michael Voss is happy to wait until I have worked out an idea and takes the time to really get to know the song, simultaneously developing ideas for the vocals,” SCHENKER describes of the fruitful collaboration which has one cog intermesh with the other. “Then we work out the drums, bass, and some keyboard parts together. He always has plenty of great ideas up his sleeve.” Compositional highlights abound on Universal, from the haunting opener “Emergency” and the subsequent “Under Attack” with its casually driving groove to “The Universe,” featuring an atmospheric duet by Ronnie Romero and Gary Barden, “Wrecking Ball,” performed as brilliantly as ever by Ralf Scheepers, and “London Calling” with its homage to the British capital’s musical spirit.
The rock anthem “A King Has Gone” and its intro “Calling Baal” both have a special significance: The track, sung by Helloween frontman Michael Kiske, is a tribute to the immortal Ronnie James Dio, in particular to his performance on the 1976 hard rock classic RainbowRising. For this reason, SCHENKER has brought together an original Rainbow rhythm section consisting of Bobby Rondinelli and Bob Daisley, additionally enlisting keyboardist Tony Carey, who also played on Rainbow Rising, for a terrific Moog synth intro – a direct reference to the iconic intro of the 1976 album opener “Tarot Woman.” The impressive result “Calling Baal / A King Has Gone” is already considered to be one of the most important and successful songs in SCHENKER’s career to date, both musically and lyrically.
In line with all these highlights, the spectacular MSG album cover designed by ZsofiaDankova (Powerwolf, among others) features SCHENKER in a futuristic spaceship, floating high up in orbit. The artwork is based on the guitarist’s own visions, “I had the original idea for the album cover a few years ago, but only now does it seem to fit perfectly. So, I sent some older sketches to my label Atomic Fire Records and based on this the final artwork and album title were created.”
No doubt about it: The title, artwork, and new songs suit MSG as perfectly as his characteristic Flying V suits MICHAEL SCHENKER! Stand by for more from MSG in the weeks to come.
MNRVA venture further into the descending darkness with their debut full-length, Hollow which will be released on may 20th via BlackDoombaRecords. Conjuring gloomy atmospheres with funeral doom and fuzz tones, the heavy trio are unafraid to unveil what’s lurking in the shadows.
Forming in 2018, MNRVA made their debut with the EP Black Sky giving fans a tantalizing taste of their unconventional sludge fueled doom sound. Hollow builds further on their exploration of heavy music with groove-laden riffs, mid-slow tempo tracks and vocals which range between soaring melodies and those of guttural demons.
“Not the One” introduces the new album with ludicrously overdriven instruments, impactful percussion and vocals that appear to be reaching out of the abyss. The title track falls further into the gloom evoking an intense dark mood. Melodic motifs and riffs punctuate the black with an experimental twist, adding something extra to the sound without breaking the nightmarish illusion. “The Way” concludes the album with the wrath of the void, fusing the sinister and sombre.
Hollow is a melting pot of sludge drawing upon the guitar grind of MELVINS, the vocal interplay of MASTODON, and the post-doom heaviness of Wisconsin’s BEREFT. Embracing their influences while cultivating their own distinctive edge, MNRVA manipulate these dynamic musical elements to manifest an enticing atmosphere.

LIMITED-EDITION, 5X LP COLLECTION FEATURES NEW ARTWORK AND ETCHINGS
Feb 25, 2022, LOS ANGELES – The eagerly-awaited vinyl version of TOOL’s critically-acclaimed fifth album, FearInoculum, arrives on April 8 via RCA Records, with the GRAMMY®-Award winning release spread over 5 LPs and paired with new, extensive artwork.
Adam Jones reconceptualized the already impressive album packaging with each of the 180g vinyl discs emblazoned with a unique etching and accompanied by an elaborate pictorial booklet including never-before-seen artwork. The limited-edition set, which also features a new cover, is housed in a hard shell box
TOOL has consistently elevated the concept of album art, from the groundbreaking Fear Inoculum CD release fronted by a 4” HD rechargeable screen with exclusive video footage (“Recusant Ad Infinitum”) to 10,000 Days’ integrated stereoscopic lenses to Ænima’s lenticular jewel case, Jones has pushed the boundaries of what is possible. He has been twice nominated in the GRAMMY®-Awards Best Recording Package category, taking home the trophy in 2007 for 10,000 Days.
Quite possibly the era’s most highly-anticipated album, Fear Inoculum arrived in August of 2019. Debuting at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200, the album earned heaps of critical praise with NPR saying, “Fear Inoculum was worth the 13 year wait,” Revolver proclaiming the album “a masterpiece to be dissected for years to come” and Consequence saying the release finds “Tool in peak performance.”
Finnish stoner metal band Zombie Rodeo is back after six years. The band released a new single MindInfestation which is taken from the upcoming EP TheEyesAreSetUponYou. EP is released on April 29th 2022 via Inverse Records.
The band comments: “The song is a twisted tale, when one’s mind is consumed with thoughts, that should not normally be there. This time the vocals took a much harsher turn and also the music has a lot more pronounced mid 90’s metal vibe, on top of the fuzzy delivery of earlier releases. The lyrics also reflect the music better this time.
After a lenghty search, no suitable replacement for Thomas Vee on vocals was found, so Miika decided to also take on the vocal duties on top of delivering commanding riffage. Otherwise the line-up remains unchanged this time.”

ALLEGAEON will be touring in support of their sixth studio album, DAMNUM, set for release on February 25th via Metal Blade Records. ALLEGAEON have built themselves a unique place in the musical landscape, forcing both technicality and melody to the forefront as they create tumultuous and riveting death metal. With DAMNUM, they push everything further into the extreme, and in the process deliver the definitive ALLEGAEON record. Preview and purchase DAMNUM at metalblade.com/allegaeon.
“ALLEGAEON’s metamorphosis from mechanical tech-deathheads to progressive wayfarers has been as smooth as it was unpredictable. They’ve avoided the period of stagnation that brings down so many great tech bands. We should have all guessed from those Rush and Yes covers which way the wind was blowing, but few would have predicted just how impressive DAMNUM would be.” — Metal Injection
TABAHI is a Thrash Metal band from Karachi, Pakistan. A city is known as the most violent in Pakistan, and among the world’s most dangerous. A perfect breeding ground for quality thrash metal. TABAHI, takes its cues from 80’s German thrash bands such as Destruction and Kreator, armed with some classic pre-86 Bay Area ideas.
With stingy vocals and claustrophobic riffs, the music will take you right into the heart of Pakistan’s most dangerous city with a pure thrash assault that numbs the brain. After an 8 year hiatus, TABAHI returns; being both a pioneer of thrash metal in Pakistan and their country’s only thrash metal band.

Having been haunting stages all over the world for thirty-three years, goth ‘n’ roll pioneers THE69EYES seem to be a truly immortal part of the dark rock/metal scene. Widely known as the Helsinki Vampires, the quintet gained several platinum albums with BlessedBe and ParisKills and not only reached the #1 spots on the single and album charts in their home country of Finland, but also plunged the world into a sinful cosmos of love, death, and melancholy, outliving any other band emerging from the goth hype of the early 2000s.
By developing their sound further into sleaze rock on Devils (2004) and Angels (2007) and not shying away from pitch black Elvis allusions in singer Jyrki69’s dark voice and unique onstage dance moves, the band has established a worldwide following. Over the course of over three decades, THE69EYES has toured relentlessly throughout Europe, America, Asia, and Australia and released twelve full-length studio albums.
Today, THE69EYES announces their signing to Atomic Fire Records (worldwide excluding Finland). Get your vampire teeth sharpened as news songs and tours are in the horizon!
Singer Jyrki69 comments on this unholy new alliance: “We are back in a full swing! Our paths here in Helsinki crossed with our old A&R guy Gabi Hakanen who was with us when we released our highest selling albums Devils and Angels, so as he heard our new demos, we sort of just continued like right after last time. So, he got us in his label’s studio right away at Vallila Music House (Hanoi Rocks’ Sami Yaffa, Ville Valo & Agents). Simultaneously, we also hooked up with the brand new Atomic Fire Records label which has our classic former Nuclear Blast dream team there, so this ‘new’ and fresh beginning for THE69EYES sounds like a dream, really! New big-time rocking music comes out very soon!”
CEO and A&R MarkusWosgien adds, “We are more than happy to welcome our beloved Helsinki Vampires, the most unique and by far coolest gothic band in hell and on earth. We worked together for more than ten years and their four latest studio albums, and will continue now, reunited under the Atomic Fire banner. This feels like coming home to all of us and we are honored to continue our long term relationship.”
Heavy rockers NOTINGODZ will release their self-titled EP on April 8, 2022.
The trio are a powerhouse of groove rhythms, soaring melodies and distortion. From “I Walk Alone” to “Hell Yeah” their energy never falters. Forging a full sound drawing influences from traditional metal such as BLACK SABBATH, to the heavy of ROB ZOMBIE, and melodic style of GHOST, NOTINGODZ deliver a heavy modern twist with a rock ‘n’ roll edge.
The epic impact of the intro riff in “I Walk Alone” establishes the hard-hitting intensity NO TIN GODZ produce. Melodic commanding vocals and intricate guitar leads, along with rhythmic experimentation, show the clever manipulation of dynamics across the tracks which cultivate charismatic moods. “We Are Zombies” combines NOTINGODZ energy with a darker atmosphere. While “Just Before Dawn” ventures into a greater focus of guitar riffs and licks, with a raw sentiment portrayed through the chorus.
NOTINGODZ’s unyielding spirit storms through the album. Exposing all sides of the human condition with great enthusiasm, the new EP is a model of pure, high voltage heavy metal.
Michigan stoner metal outfit, GRAVENEXTDOOR, have released their new video for their single ”As Heavy As Texas” via Ghost Cult Magazine.
Please note that their upcoming album, SanctifiedHeathen, will be releasing via BlackDoombaRecords on March 18, not January 28th as previously stated.
The band comments:
”We filmed our video for “As Heavy As Texas” in the little town of Hubbard, Texas, where the inspiration of the song came from. We filmed on a severely hot day at the end of July after we played a show there the night before, at the Red Barn Winery And Tasting Room. The town really opened itself to us with their generous and genuine hospitality.
We were able to shoot at two locations, a working ranch and an old roadhouse bar. We feel that the footage of the ranch enabled us to show the light and space of Texas. The other location was a dark dank roadhouse bar, which had been a speakeasy during the prohibition years and it was a direct contrast to the ranch. The video also features a cameo by local Hubbard, Texas artist Tommy Kruger.”
Formed back in 2018 by brothers Patrick and Anthony Salerno, and aptly named after the graveyard situated next to their home, GRAVENEXTDOOR delves into the dark and macabre. Drawing from the iconic sounds of BLACK SABBATH, BLACK FLAG and even CREAM, all blended with the trio’s individual edge. Sanctified Heathen sees the band deliver brutally heavy distortion, doom grooves and powerful vocals. A morbid exploration awaits with lyrical themes of addiction, mortality, war, and their own personal experiences seeping through the album.

RIVERS OF NIHIL will be touring in support of their newest full-length, TheWork, released last Fall on Metal Blade Records. RIVERS OF NIHIL has never fit neatly into a box, but with 2018’s WhereOwlsKnowMyName, they transcended all labels applied to them. Returning in 2021 with TheWork, they’ve forged further into new territory, delivering an album that’s as cerebral as it is visceral, and that covers a staggering sonic range, definitively placing them in a category of their own.
Inarguably a dense, heavy collection, TheWork is far too dynamic to be considered a solely metal record and there is a genuine warmth that shows through, particularly tracks like “Wait” and the gorgeous “Maybe One Day.” Additionally, the band has incorporated far more clean vocals alongside the screaming that tears through many of the record’s heavier tracks. Courtesy of their friend Zach Strouse, saxophone once again adds extra layers of atmosphere to the collection, utilizing baritone, soprano, and alto saxes to great effect.
Metalheads hungry for majesty, melody and massive riffing will find much to love on this strong four song collection, which touches on elements of thrash, prog, doom and traditional metal throughout its ambitious twenty-seven-minute running time.
FlightAmongtheTombs is a collection of four epic and powerful songs that will call to mind the historical high drama of Iron Maiden, the desperate doom of Candlemass, and the musical and intellectual depth of bands like Queensryche and Fates Warning. A twin guitar attack, thunderous drums, doom-laden bass and the soaring Dickinsonian vocals of Paul Tiseo characterize their sound.
This brief but engaging collection will impress metal fans with its high level of musicianship, profound lyrical depth, and passionate performances. In short, FlightAmongtheTombs is an epic, powerful, and passionate heavy metal release that reveals an up-and-coming band quickly coming into their powers.
Texas-based metal band SUDDEN DEAF are pleased to announce that they will release their debut album in the summer of 2022.
Producing an implosion of influences, drawing from traditional, speed and groove, along with some classic rock and experimental elements, SUDDEN DEAF’s sound is a melting pot of heavy. With their debut album currently in progress, the outfit are kicking off with the single “Headhunter” which will debut on Feb 18th. The narrative focus is on a tale of a Viking, but the track also delves into emotions of rage and greed, lust and distain that we all feel. A thundering introduction driving a fury of anticipation leads to the hard-hitting pay off seeing epic wailing guitars and head-banging rhythms.
Intense energy and a fast pace results in sheer chaotic havoc. Being engulfed by SUDDEN DEAF’s wall of sound may leave you deaf but it’ll be worth it! And watch out for any demons accidentally summoned in the process.
The band comments:
“We are thrilled to release our debut single; a song about rage, power and disdain, ‘Headhunter’ stands as the first song off our upcoming album and sets the initial tone for what’s to come”

WHITECHAPEL will be touring in support of their eighth studio album, Kin, released last Fall via Metal Blade Records. Already sitting on one of the most enviable catalogs in contemporary metal, Kin, was produced once again by Mark Lewis with David Castillo at Ghostward Studios in Sweden handling the mixing, then Ted Jensen mastering it in Nashville, Tennessee. The resulting album is a dynamic and diverse collection, further advancing the band’s sound into new territory without losing sight of what brought them to this point. Kin has gone on to hit #24 on the Current Albums Chart, peaking at #3 on Hard Music Albums, and #6 on the Independent Albums Chart.
