Portland, Oregon’s purveyors of Progressive Deathcore, Paragon, are set to release their debut full-length album, Dead Planet, on July 22, 2016. Dead Planet, which combines a foundation of Deathcore with a mix of ambience, melodic guitar breaks, and heavy groove oriented riffing, was produced and engineered by the band’s own guitarist, Eric Gemme at GemLabs Audio (Extortionist, Navigator, Burdens) in Portland, OR. While both the band and the album started out as a one man project several years ago, Paragon has since evolved into a full-fledged band that is fully prepared to bring the aural assault that is Dead Planet to the masses.
Speaking on the band’s behalf, Eric had the following to say about Paragon and Dead Planet: “After 4 years of writing, reflecting, and refining, I’m happy to say that ‘Dead Planet’ will finally be released to the public. This CD was written through the absolute worst and best times of my life, and I think the epic, heavy hitting, and groovy riffs translate well throughout. For the lyrics, We wanted to take a more focused approach – from explaining Earth’s position in space and providing different scenes and scenarios on the planet, to our exploration of other places within the universe. We have recently solidified the line-up as a 4-piece, and couldn’t be happier to bring these riffs to life on the stage.”
The band released a pre-production mix of the track Augmented back in 2015, which can be streamed at the following location or below.
The final version of the track will be available on the full length. I Declare War‘s Jamie Hanks and American Me‘s Tony Tataje both add to the brutality of Dead Planet, with Jamie making a guest vocal appearance on the title track, and Tony delivering on Unshakable Faith.
Pre-orders for Dead Planet, which include T-shirt bundles, are now available for purchase via Paragon‘s bandcamp page at http://paragon.bandcamp.com/.

ABOUT HELLEBORUS:
Conceived within the womb of Execration, HELLEBORUS is the latest emanation of Jerred & Wyatt Houseman. Like the enigmatic and deadly winter flower from which the project takes its name, Helleborus pushes the exploration of traditional Black Metal into the uncharted territory of sensual duality and mysticism. Building on their professional experience with Execration and personal experiences through Akhenaten, the Houseman brothers sought a deeper expression of their experiential-driven musical style that audiences can connect with through a union of opposites.
“We’ve always had a vision for the type of Black Metal project Helleborus would be. We wanted to explore and deliver a darker and yet more romantic side of Black Metal. There is an unknown side of Metal that is masculine and powerful, yet sensual and respectful; controlled chaos.” comments vocalist Wyatt Houseman.

Finnish Industrial Metal/EBM Group KING SATAN have released the official video for new single “Psygnosis.” The video was directed, written and produced by the band’s mastermind/vocalist Aleister Von Satan himself. Check it out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pq_HgY5puE or below:
The single will be included on the band’s upcoming debut album, which will be released later in 2016 on Saturnal Records.
KING SATAN is an industrial metal / EBM band from Tampere, Finland, founded in 2015 by Aleister Von Satan (a.k.a. fra. Zetekh, also mastermind of occult Black Metal band Saturnian Mist). KING SATAN combines influences from a wide range of Extreme Metal, Electro-Industrial and even Hard Rock. Musically, the band is about complete defiance – not only towards the boundaries and conventions of Metal and Electro Music but also the status quo of spiritual life and mental status of modern world. Nothing is sacred and no stone shall be left unturned.
KING SATAN‘s firstpromo titled We are King Satan and we Fuck the World (2015) was recorded in autumn 2015 and released in December 2015 together with a music video single from the demo titled Enter Black Fire (2015). The video was directed by ALEISTER VON SATAN himself. The CD edition of the demo sold out fast and KING SATAN were going through a period of finding an established line-up for the sake of performing live, which meant that a lot of people came and went before the line-up was settled. DJ SHEMHAMFORASH (a.k.a. fra. Ptahaz, also known from Saturnian Mist) was already in the band during the time of the first demo and handled guitars, synths and DJ responsibilities live, while B.B. KILL found himself as a guitarist and KATE BOSS as a bassist and a dancer.
Due to the success of the demo KING SATAN started working almost immediately on the debut full-length album in March 2016 and the first live shows were confirmed quickly. The first live appearance will take place August 2016 at the SAARIHELVETTI FESTIVAL, Tampere, Finland, where the band will share the stage with such names as Turmion Kätilöt and Shining, while the second show will take a place at the extravagant GOTHIC FEST in SOFIA at Sofia, Bulgaria on October 29, 2016.

Pennsylvania mostly instrumentalists, KING DEAD, will bring their spacious, tripped out, post-metal/doom manifestations to the stage on a smattering of live performances this Summer. The band’s latest excursions include an in-store appearance this weekend at Darkside Records in Poughkeepsie, New York with Geezer and Linear North.
Comments drummer Steve Truglio of the upcoming dates, “It’s really getting fun now. Not only are we enjoying the hell out of playing the new Woe & Judgment stuff, but we just started test driving an even newer song in the set. We are playing cool places with great bands and things are really starting to click.”
KING DEAD undraped their three-song full-length, Woe & Judgement, earlier this year. Having impressed with the spacious post-metal textures of their 2014 demo, the scope of Woe & Judgement has expanded considerably even from where it started. With three tracks constructed to fit on two sides, KING DEAD – Truglio with four-string bassist Kevin Vanderhoof, and six-string bassist Wil McGrath – pushes its way into an encompassing rumble that still seems to hold onto a human core even as it lumbers between airy doom and rawer, thoroughly reverbed noise.
“It’s an immersive, thirty-seven-minute stretch,” proclaims The Obelisk, “but lack of pretense prevails, and KING DEAD‘s debut long-player finds them aesthetically locked in and proffering a balance between the raw and the lush, with a patience underlying that only makes the songs seem more methodical.”
Woe & Judgement is currently available on limited edition vinyl and can be streamed at THIS LOCATION.

KING DEAD have been conspicuously haunting the Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania area. Bass players Wil McGrath and Kevin Vanderhoof, recruited New Jersey transplant Steve Truglio on drums in 2013, and have been traumatizing ears throughout Pennsylvania ever since. Their debut record Woe & Judgement was recorded by Dave Reiser in Stroudsburg at Rock Hard Studios. Call it sludge, doom, spaghetti western doom sludge… With virtually no vocals, it’s all about dynamics and the building tempos. Creepy, dreary, sleepy and melodic riffs layered over deep bottom and pounding drums.
The one and only MERCYLESS, one of the cultest Death Metal acts ever to emerge from France, the one that released the two classic albums “Abject Offerings“ (Vinyl Solution, 1992) and “Coloured Funeral“ (Century Media, 1993), the one that relentlessly toured Europe with the likes of DEATH (RIP, Chuck), ASPHYX, UNLEASHED, TIAMAT or more recently LOUDBLAST, that one band is back with a new FREE digital single, “Altered Divination” ahead of the October 7th release of its new full-length, “Pathetic Divinity”.
Featuring a brand new song, “My Name Is Legion“, produced at Psykron studio (PUTRID OFFAL) and mastered at Conkrete studio (OTARGOS…), and a raw “official bootleg” 2014 live recording of the 1992 classic “Substance of Purity”, the single is a foretaste of things to come any unholy Death Metal fan should get right now!
Hear the roar of the horde sharpening its weapons preparing for a new battle against everything holy!
ABNORMALITY are a young Death Metal band that exhibits the talent, energy and drive to go very far in our Metal world. ExperiencingABNORMALITYlive has only solidified my previously positive Metal opinion about them BIG time. Originating from Massachusetts and fronted by vocalist Mallika Sundaramurthy, ABNORMALITY are signed to Metal Blade Records. I was fortunate to witness the live Death Metal fury of ABNORMALITY at Oddbody’s Music Room, in Dayton, Ohio, on May 7th, of this year.

With ABNORMALITY‘s new studio album Mechanisms of Omniscience just being released on April 29th, they are touring to support their Death Metal album achievement; supporting mega Metal monsters BATTLECROSS, SUFFOCATION and the legendary SOULFLY. This is quite an impressive supporting slot to have, considering the enormous influence that SUFFOCATION has had on the Death Metal family and the unparalleled Metal history of Max Cavalera’s SOULFLY. Whoa.

Being in the pit for any Metal show at my age now is usually not that stinking easy. I do feel the hits, slaps and random punches more than I used to, say, twenty-five years ago. Despite my being older, I am more wiser; therefore being up-front and against the stage for ABNORMALITY was a no-brainer for me! I took the numerous hits! F*ck yeah. I wanted to be a part of Death Metal history, being able to say I experiencedABNORMALITY as close as I could get! This band is that fun to see and hear up-close; combined with their Death Metal assault, grooves, vibes and obvious future potential, it’s freaking bragging rights to only see them this way and not from afar.

ABNORMALITY played to a packed house at Oddbody’s, with their battalion of fans that were unmistakably in attendance. Forget about the song list here; I was too busy taking in ABNORMALITY‘s deadly wall-of-sound, while doing my damn best to sustain the physical barrage upon my body. That’s Metal. Pure and f*%kin simple. Mallika Sundaramurthy‘s guttural vocals are eye-popping! Do not underestimate Mallika. Her stage presence is commanding, while working the fans into a Metal frenzy, regardless of her petite size and seriously cute looks. Mallika’s vocals and the entire band, without a doubt, kicked my ears into Death Metal submission! Amazing.
I obviously had a blast being a part of this ABNORMALITY moment in Metal time. For thirty minutes or so I didn’t care about any other band in the world; my entire Metal soul was focused on what I was feeling and hearing from ABNORMALITY. The body hits I was taking didn’t matter; nor did my head getting dizzy spells from the entire pit encounter. This was my Metal moment with ABNORMALITY and I was going to savor every f*#kin second of it; as well I did. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone

Argento Records proudly confirms the label’s next official release, with a newly recorded album by Dutch Black Metal act, VERWOED, titled Bodemloos, marking the outfit’s first recordings since converting from the moniker, Woudloper.
Utrecht-based soloist Erik B. began paving his path of destruction as one-man project, Woudloper, in 2014, creating an ethereal yet scathing style, heavily rooted in traditional Black Metal, yet reaching into more psychedelic realms of inspiration. Breathe Plastic released a critically acclaimed, self-titled demo tape in 2015, yet immediately subsequent to its release the project changed its name to VERWOED, as an even more exploratory epoch of the band was taking place.
On the maiden official VERWOED release, Bodemloos sees this artisan peeling back even more layers of this project, exposing incredibly dense and much more psychedelic and hallucinogenic cosmic textures than before, while remaining yielding in its nihilistic and violent tactics. Bodemloos brings three massive new movements into existence, its immersive tones recorded, mixed, and mastered by John Bart Van Der Wal (Aborted, Herder), the album completed with cover artwork created by Joost Vervoost (Terzij De Horde). Argento Records will release Bodemloos on CD, digital, and 180-gram one-sided LP, the vinyl’s B-side featuring an etching handled by Reuben Sawyer (Chelsea Wolfe, Hollow Sunshine), on July 8th. Audio samples, preorders and further info on Bodemloos will be issued in the days ahead.
Following the release of Bodemloos, VERWOED will transform from a solo outing into a five-piece lineup, and begin performing live, the first shows to be announced shortly.
