Best known for her time fronting symphonic metal brigade Nightwish for five years before fleeing the band in 2012, the Swedish born songstress has established herself as a true apex among female rock singers globally and will continue the trend with her forthcoming solo release entitled Shine. Produced by Stefan Örn and Johan Glössner, co-produced by OLZON alongside Johan Kronlund and mixed by Kronlund, Nicklas Flykt and Ronny Lahti (known for his work with Loreen and Roxette), Shine is a logical next step in OLZON’s flourishing musical journey.
“I am so thrilled to finally release my first solo album,” comments OLZON. “I’ve been working on it for a long time. The album is very personal with songs I’ve been writing since 2009 but there are also very recent songs. The overall message of the album is that life can be really dark and filled with hardship and sadness, but you can always choose to see some light coming through, to make you stronger and full of life, making you shine… no matter what.”

Michael Kiske Returns To PLACE VENDOME With Another Melodic Rock Masterpiece: “Thunder In The Distance” – Due For Release In November, On Frontiers Records.

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of the much-anticipated third album from PLACE VENDOME entitled “Thunder in the Distance” on November 1st in Europe and November 5th in North America.
PLACE VENDOME is the Melodic Rock project featuring UNISONIC and former HELLOWEEN singer Michael Kiske on all lead vocals and production from Dennis Ward (PINK CREAM 69).
PLACE VENDOME started in 2004 when Kiske, following a self-imposed exile from the rock and metal scene which lasted a few years after his departure from HELLOWEEN and solo career, accepted in 2004 to be part of a Melodic Rock oriented concept put together by Frontiers Records’ President Serafino Perugino.
The resulting PLACE VENDOME debut album brought Kiske back to a more straight ahead and Rock sound, still very accessible and melodic and far from the Heavy Metal stereotypes of blood, violence and hate which Kiske never had anything to do with. He collaborated for the first time with PINK CREAM 69’s Dennis Ward, Kosta Zafiriou and Uwe Reitenauer with Gunther Werno (VANDEN PLAS) on keyboards. In a quite ironic twist of fate Michael found himself to work with members of PINK CREAM 69, when the band’s original singer Andy Deris took his place in HELLOWEEN when he left.

The very favorable acceptance of the first PLACE VENDOME album planted the seeds for a second recording entitled “Streets of Fire”, which was produced during 2008. The concept was slightly changed, with some outside writers such as Robert Säll (Work of Art), Ronny Milianowicz (Saint Deamon) and Torsti Spoof (Leverage) handling the bulk of the songwriting, with Dennis Ward still handling the recording and production sessions.
Following his stint with the band UNISONIC, Kiske decided to go back once again to the PLACE VENDOME concept with more melodic rock oriented songs which – once again – have been selected by Frontiers Records President Serafino Perugino from outside writers including: Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear), Timo Tolkki (ex-Stratovarius), Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline), Roberto Tiranti and Andrea Cantarelli (Labyrinth, A Perfect Day), Tommy Denander (Radioactive), Sören Kronqvist (Sunstorm, Issa), and Brett Jones.
“I am having a very open mind in terms of music anyway, and the Place Vendome vibe is a pretty different approach than Unisonic” says Kiske. “I like many tracks off the Place Vendome albums, but especially Guardian Angel, Streets Of Fire, I Will Be Waiting, Set Me Free from the previous albums or now Maybe Tomorrow. For me the vocals are the most important part of a song of course”.
Dennis Ward once again produced and mixed the whole affair with such musicians as Dirk Bruineberg (Consortium Project), Gunter Werno (Vandenplas) and Uwe Reitenauer (Pink Cream 69) completing the lineup. Another total masterpiece from Kiske and Place Vendome is about to hit the market. A true must for all Melodic Rock fans !

Dutch Symphonic Metal band EPICA celebrated their 10th anniversary with a one-night-only event, dubbed Retrospect. The band was accompanied by the seventy piece Extended Reményi Ede Chamber Orchestra and the Miskolc National Theatre Choir, playing an unforgettable 3-hours best-of set.
According to respected Dutch newspaper the Volkskrant: “The band wrote a chapter of Dutch metal History” this evening. Rock Tribune (Belgium) thought it was “an unforgettable show”.
Ten high-definition cameras captured this very special sold-out show while EPICA played in front of nearly five thousand ecstatic fans in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Originally formed in 1994 under the name Natt, the band changed their name to TRAIL OF TEARS in 1997. Shortly after they recorded a 3-track demo tape entitled “When Silence Cries…”
The debut album “Disclosure In Red” was released in November 1998 via the Dutch label DSFA Records, which was followed by “Profoundemonium” about 2 years later. They signed to Napalm Records in 2001 and released 4 further albums over the course of 8 years.
TRAIL OF TEARS played a lot of shows worldwide, among others with Tristania, Therion, The Sins Of Thy Beloved, Cradle Of Filth or Biohazard. They also performed at festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Wave Gotik Treffen, Metal Mania Open Air, Metal Crowd Festival or Summer Breeze.
The band went through a couple of line-up changes, most recently with the departure of the band’s former drummer Cato Jensen. Bjørn Dugstad Rønnow joined the band as new drummer in March 2012.
TRAIL OF TEARS have now signed with Massacre Records and plan to release their 7th full-length album Oscillation in spring 2013.
Ronny Thorsen, the band’s vocalist, commented:
“After a recording process full of challenges we are very happy to announce the signing to Massacre Records for our seventh album ‘Oscillation’. Symphonic/Power Metal band Heliosaga are proud to welcome their new vocalist Chelsea Knaack!
Chelsea Knaack is known for her lead vocals in DesDemon and brought her impressive talent to their 2011 release on Radtone Music Japan.
Damien Villarreal formed Heliosaga in 2010 with a dynamic selection of musicians around San Antonio, Texas. Heliosaga’s powerful moving melodies, enhanced by Chelsea Knaack’s passionate soprano voice, will make Heliosaga a force among the ranks of the female fronted genre.
Heliosaga are writing new material and will begin pre-production for label representation following Chelsea’s relocation to Texas this Summer.
The name Heliosaga is a metaphor derived from helios, the Greek word for sun, and saga meaning the story/ history; thus, Heliosaga represents the journey of life.
Chelsea Knaack states: “I was looking for a new chapter in my life with a new adventure and Heliosaga fit the plan. It was also the chemistry with the guys; we are all very similar in many ways. It will be a great adventure indeed.”
Heliosaga adds: “Chelsea’s vocals are moving, her stage presence is captivating and she has an immense passion for this kind of music. Shortly after meeting we realized how well we click on personal and professional levels, so we can say that we have gained a great friend and an incredible band mate! We are eager to begin recording our debut album together, which will be released early next year.”
Heliosaga look forward to touring in support of their debut album. This year and 2013 will be exciting years for Heliosaga with much more activity.
