Band Biography
Conflicted – formed in 2010 – is a Crossover Thrash Metal band from Arica, Chile. At the beginning of its career the band launched their debut demo Dirty Snake Attack 10″, and two years later their first full length called Social Disorder released in 2012 Via Sick Bangers Metal Label and Distro.
Their home town Arica, borders with Peru and Bolivia, countries where the band has been able to perform promoting their debut album in a mini-tour called “South Disorder”,” sharing the stage with bands such as Violator, Onslaught, Artillery, Exumer and Annihilator.
In 2013, the band released Sick Mosh, a live DVD along with label mates Nuclear and Lefutray. This audiovisual material helped the band to be part of one of the most important festivals of extreme music in South America: The Metal Fest, carried out in Santiago, Chile on April 2014. The festival also had the presence of important bands like Pentagram (Chile), Dark Angel, At the Gates, Voivod, Hypocrisy and Megadeth.
FALLEN ANGELS – Seattle Washington’s FALLEN ANGELS have taken me by incredible surprise this year, with their enormously grand album of Thrash Metal glory titled: World In Decay. As an older Thrashaholic like myself, I feel reassured that old school Thrash Metal will live on, due to the likes of FALLEN ANGELS. What a thrill this album is from these fine Thrashers! Holy shit it’s really good.
Track #2 on World In Decay is Nightmare (listen below). While listening to Brad“Bradzilla” Kennaugh on vocals, he takes me back to a time when Thrash on vinyl was freaking king. Erik Hanson and Matt Be Roth are the guitar duo that blazes through this song below, like hell’s wildfire out of control! Bassist Carl Larsson and drummer Steve Spitzbart kick ass. How’s that for being plain-speaking? Whoa.

The magnificent MEGADETH will be releasing their fifteenth studio album, Dystopia, on January 22nd, 2016. What a grand Metal way to start off the new year of 2016, with new MEGADETH!
How about the album cover art for Dystopia? I’m digging it. Looks like Vic Rattlehead is some kind of cyborg security officer or bounty hunter, in a futuristic and devastated city? That destroyed bridge on the album cover carries some social symbolism; a bridge to nowhere, maybe? I am looking forward to getting this CD and… Metal Be Thy Name.
Along with co-founding members Dave Mustaine and David Ellefson: LAMB OF GOD drummer Chris Adler is featured on this entire Dystopia release, along with Brazilian guitarist Kiko Loureiro of ANGRA fame.

Bay Area Tech Death/Thrash Metallers INSANITY are set to release their first full-length album since 1994. Visions of Apocalypse will be released on CD November 13th, on Unspeakable Axe Records. A vinyl LP version on Dark Descent Records is also in the works, tentatively set for a late year release.
Innovators of the blast beat and influencers of the likes of genre godfathers Napalm Death, INSANITY have survived repeated tragedies and setbacks since forming in the mid-80s. The Bay Area Metal masters should need no introduction, only somehow after 30 years they are still one of the most unsung bands in the underground. In 2015 they are finally returning to sand-blast the ears of loyalists and unbelievers alike.
The long-in-the-works album Visions of Apocalypse was begun years ago, with original drummer Bud Mills involved, until his untimely passing from cancer in 2007. Through this loss and subsequent lineup changes, the band persevered, led by original guitarist and longtime vocalist Dave Gorsuch, with Juan Casarez stepping behind the kit. In mid-2015, the final tracks were laid down and at last the album was completed.

Some people are born to rock; a few are born to thrash and Suicide Watch definitely belongs to the latter!
Late 2003 saw four guys; enthusiastic veterans of the thrash, hardcore and crossover scenes get together in the back alleys of Cheltenham England to form Suicide Watch, a band committed to relentless musical mayhem. The debut album, Global Warning, was a perfect demonstration highlighting the band’s ability to distill their collective knowledge of the genre resulting in one of the most potent thrash core releases outside of the Bay Area. The album was picked up and released in 2005 via legendary Belgian metal label Mausoleum Records.
Having signed to Irish label, Slaney Records, in 2010 for the release of their third studio record The Culling of Humanity, the label would go on to release The Alienation Zone EP in 2014 and live album This Cursed Earth in March 2015. Marquee Records, (a sister label of Slaney Records), has now announced that they will breathe new life into the debut Suicide Watch record, re-issuing Global Warning on 22nd June 2015.
The long and short of it is, these four guys know each other’s playing styles back to front, and inside out; the chemistry within Suicide Watch is second to none. They genuinely live and breathe the music they play and in fact, the thirteen songs on Global Warning were written over the course of just twelve rehearsals, and recorded, mixed and mastered (live onto analogue tape with none of the digital trickery so often employed by modern thrash bands) in only four days at Whitehouse Studios.
As well as a devastating sonic attack, Suicide Watch pride themselves on positive, sincere lyrics; they are four compassionate, caring individuals that have something of genuine value to impart to the listener. That’s why you won’t find any songs about Satan and ‘bangin’ the head on Global Warning. The world is going to hell at a rate of knots, there’s more important issues at stake right now than who is more metal than whom, and consequently the band’s lyrical thrust is steeped in the grim reality of modern life.
But whether you buy into the band’s politically charged agenda or not, there’s no denying that this is a righteous thrash metal album in the vein of such greats as Vio-lence, Testament, Kreator, Dark Angel, Exodus, Slayer and Anthrax. Even the striking cover art, by the legendary Ed Repka (Megadeth, Evil Dead, Nuclear Assault, Biohazard), is reminiscent of that golden age of extreme metal of the mid to late eighties.

Recently celebrating their 30 year anniversary tour earlier this March on their ‘Forsaken East Coast Survival US Tour’, AGGRESSION have re-kindled their fire and hitting the road once again with not just founding member / guitarist Denis ‘Sasquatch’ Barthe who reformed the Canadian 80’s thrashers, but will have original bassist Yves “Dug” Duguay rejoin them for their ‘Canadian C.H.U.D. Invasion Tour’ that includes three festival appearances at Alberta’s Farmageddon Open Air in June along with BC’s Metallion Festival and Montreal’s Obscene Extreme Festival in August (all dates listed below).

The new members do a great job helping capture the essence of what Aggression is supposed to be. Seeing them perform brought me right back to the early days. About AGGRESSION:
Formed in 1985 under the original moniker “Asylum” to be later changed to AGGRESSION, the speed metallers unleashed their 1986 demo “Forgotten Skeleton”, (which saw an album release in 2005) and their debut full length “The Full Treatment” in 1987, which lead them to become one of the most popular bands to rise out of the Quebec and Canadian metal scene. With their manager at the time (Johnny Hart), AGGRESSION quickly became a household name with their concerts sold out everywhere and a fan base that grew from hundreds to thousands in no time.
Other bands such as Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, Hallow’s Eve, Destruction and others all wanted to see the beast for themselves during tour stops in Montreal. Playing numerous concerts with bands such as Anvil, Celtic Frost, Voïvod, Nuclear Assault, Agnostic Front, D.R.I., Possessed, Dark Angel, Crumbsuckers, Sacrifice and others, AGGRESSION decided to call it quits in 1989 due to external influences.

Is it fair to state that as metalheads we spend a lot of our time checking out new records? Hunting out the next big thing that we can introduce our friends to, something new, and something that evokes the feelings we once got on an almost daily basis back in the day when first discovering metal.
However, on occasion we’re brought back to the classics, the old Metallica records, early Annihilator and so forth; the exact records we discovered on the voyage of metal discovery. Yet sometimes those old classics just don’t quite hit the spot… And that’s exactly what makes bands such as Prowler a breath of fresh fucking air. Everything we’ve heard before is there, it’s familiar, but it’s new and that’s the fundamental difference.
Formed in 2010, Prowler went on to release four EP’s and a box set before signing to Slaney Records to release their debut album After You in 2013, and The New Blood EP later that same year. The thrash titans hailing from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina are now on the verge of unleashing yet another beast of a record, their second full length entitled From The Shadows. Overseen by Roger Lian, the same man who was responsible for Slayer’s South Of Heaven and countless others including Overkill, Pantera and Damageplan; you can be assured a great production.
The world won’t go on fire, journalists won’t be scrambling over each other to make up new genre terms (thank god) but that is exactly the point! What you will find is a sterling record in the vein of old school thrash, heavy, destructive and as brazen as the first waves of the genre and unleashed by a troupe of young fiery musicians with the same raw energy captured back in the day on the likes of Ride The Lightning.

WARBEAST was originally forged in the Fall of 2006 under the name Texas Metal Alliance. In April of 2009 the band officially changed their name to WARBEAST and united with Philip H. Anselmo’s Housecore Records. WARBEAST‘s roots are firmly entrenched in the legendary ’80s Texas underground metal scene. Vocalist Bruce Corbitt was the voice of speed metal splatter kings RigorMortis, who achieved major label success on Capitol Records in 1988. Denmark Thrash battalion, ARTILLERY, will return to the US this Friday to kick off the United Legions Tour 2015. Set to initiate in Los Angeles, California, the trek will trample sixteen stages including an appearance at RK NYDM Spring Bash in Cudahy, Wisconsin before wrapping up on April 27th in Salt Lake City, Utah. ARTILLERY will be joined by Striker, VX36, Potential Threat and Dahlmers Realm.

ARTILLERY was forged in the Copenhagen suburb of Taastrup, Denmark in 1982 by Michael and Morten Stützer. Successfully fusing abrasive brutality, precision and strong melodies, with the bracing guitar leads of the Stützer-brothers serving as highlights, ARTILLERY stands among Europe’s oldest and most important exponents of thrash metal.
On August 2nd, ARTILLERY will return to Medley Studios with producer Søren Andersen to begin recording the follow-up to 2013’s critically lauded Legions. Some working song titles include “Cosmic Brain,” “Deity Machine” and “Sin Of Innocence.” The as-yet-untitled long player will see release via Metal Blade Records in late 2015. MERIDIUS is a Thrash Metal band out of British Columbia, Canada and their 3 song, self-titled EP has been released on March 20th. I really dig this band’s logo and the chosen color of red on black. That’s old school, man. Hopefully I don’t use this “old school” phrase too often; only old school kicks major ass and I live for old school Metal. Are you old school?
This EP contains a whole lot of guitar crunch, along with plenty of reasons to crank up the volume LOUD and bang thy head. The guitar solo on Walk The Plank is unreal good stuff and I admire how MERIDIUS mellows out musically in the final minute of this song; a courageous touch that works just fine for me.
I’m really impressed by how in-your-face the guitars are and still the vocals and rhythm section explode into the forefront as well. In other words, nothing gets buried in these songs. Another impressive element to MERIDIUS is the vocals of Eric Willmott who pronounces the lyrics in a Tom Araya (South Of Heaven) style.
What I really enjoy most is this band is a bounty of Thrash Metal promise and they don’t go for the need-for-speed route; one that would transform them into an Extreme band anyways. MERIDIUS sounds like they’re on course for some great achievements in Metal, both with their convincing musical talent and strong EP of songs. I’ll be keeping my eyes and ears on MERIDIUS. Biotoxic Warfare released their debut full-length, Lobotomized, on January 19th of this year, via Slaney Records. This amazing album will be released in North America on June 23rd, 2015 via Static Tension Recordings. Biotoxic Warfare originates from Greece and list Kreator, Sodom and many of the U.S. old school Death Metal bands as their influences. Biotoxic Warfare have learned well from listening to such legendary influences and it is heard loud and clear on Lobotomized.
The opening track Mors Indecepta is an instrumental, one which builds up at a moderate pace, reminding me of Metallica’s Ride The Lightning era. Biotoxic Warfare plays Thrash Metal that is refreshingly original and they are obviously committed to what their peers Havok and Warbringer have done; that is to write, record and execute old school Thrash with 0% smoke and mirrors.
Lyrically, Biotoxic Warfare takes no prisoners in standing up to world religions and religious beliefs, on Lobotomized. The cover art to Lobotomized says it all and I do declare the artwork screams: F’N METAL!! What is so great is how much Biotoxic Warfare makes me want to put on unlaced sneakers and a denim jacket, yet I can’t due to the freaking super cold weather we keep having here in Ohio. Yeah, my work boots and leather jacket do keep me warmer. Sorry for the momentary rant.
There are (too many to count) delectable riffs and solos exploding from Lobotomized. Mike on vocals is fabulous and doesn’t sound like any other big name from the past; something I find very embracing! Dimator on lead guitar and Stelios on rhythm guitar are an unreal six string duo to listen to, damn right they are! The rhythm section of Panagiwtis PS on bass and Orestis on drums round out this band and yes they kick Metal ass on Lobotomized too.

Seriously, Biotoxic Warfare is a Thrash Metal band that the Metal community across every continent MUST know about and get on board with. All 8 songs on Lobotomized are formidable and worthy of being the opening track to this album. It would be sensational to see one of our Big 4 bands take Biotoxic Warfare out on tour with them; Thrash fans need to know that our Metal future has Biotoxic Warfare in it and all will be okay.
