OUTRE - Ghost Chants - promo album cover pic - #2015OMO

After suffering a setback with the loss of their vocalist Andrzej Nowak, Black Metal group Outre have unveiled a track from their upcoming album recorded with the participation of Stawrogin (Odraza/Massemord). A twisted and ripping track drawing as much from French bands such as Deathspell Omega as Outre’s compatriots Behemoth, it will surely draw the attention of those with a finely tuned Black Metal radar.

The band comments:
“We are now finishing the production of our debut LP “Ghost Chants”. With minor delay caused by our vocalist leaving, the vocals recording session are now heading to an end. We asked Stawrogin for help, in our opinion one of the best throats in the Polish black metal underground, and so far we are more than satisfied with the effects of his work. A promo track “Chant 3. – The fall” gives a sneak peek of what you can expect on our debut long player. We gave our best to make this record as much essential and intense as possible.”

Chant 4. – Lament
Chant 5. – Equilibrium
Chant 6. – Vengeance
Chant 7. – Arrival

Countess - Sermons of the Infidel - promo cover pic - November 7 - 2014 - #0011

COUNTESS‘Sermons Of The Infidel’ contains a selection of 15 songs from Countess’ past. These tracks were selected by the band and all – save two live songs – were recorded again specifically for this album, throughout 2013 and 2014.

Eight of these tracks were released in 2013 as a digital-only EP. Due to popular demand, the band decided to release a physical version as well. The original eight tracks have been remixed and remastered and seven tracks have been added: five more new versions of Countess classics – including a Manilla Road cover – and two live songs, recorded at the ‘Metal Magic’ festival in Denmark this year.

Countess - live band pic - promo - 2014 - #1107

Though not an anthology in the strictest sense, this record does include many highlights from the band’s extensive discography. It is therefore a perfect record for those who aren’t familiar with Countess yet to get a first taste of the band’s unique take on metal.

‘Sermons Of The Infidel’ is released exclusively as a digipak with an 8-page booklet. The album is out now.

To get a taste of the album, listen to and watch Countess’ official video of ‘Bloed In De Sneeuw’, below. This perhaps Countess’ most well-known song as well as the first-ever Black Metal song with lyrics in Dutch. The original version was released on the band’s sophomore album twenty years ago.

‘Sermons Of The Infidel’ is out now and available from: http://countessmetal.bandcamp.comwww.heidenshart.nl and www.new-era-productions.nl

Sermons of the Infidel – Track List:

  1. Hymn To The Gods Of Yore
  2. Trumpets Of Dawn
  3. I Am The Infidel
  4. Child Of The Millennia
  5. Son Of The Dragon
  6. Sermon Of The Devil Preacher
  7. Alone Against The World
  8. Thermopylae
  9. City Of Satan
  10. Chosen By The Gods
  11. Chapel Of Doom
  12. Bloed In De Sneeuw
  13. The Veils Of Negative Existence
  14. Feuer Und Blut (live)
  15. Hell’s Rock & Roll (live)

ABOUT COUNTESS:

Countess is a Dutch band that has been unleashing metal music upon the world since 1992. Countess’ unique and harsh style of metal, characterized by an uncompromising loyalty to the old Heavy Metal and Black Metal traditions but by no means unoriginal, has certainly gone through changes over the years, but its essence has always remained the same.

The most important influences of Countess are the old Black Metal legends like Venom, Bathory and Hellhammer and traditional Heavy Metal bands like Manowar and Manilla Road.

Since 1993, Countess has released fourteen full-length albums. The most recent record, ‘Ancient Lies And Battle Cries’, was released this year.

In 2014 Countess also took to the stage again for the first time in more than sixteen years, including  succesful shows at the ‘Veneration Of The Dead’ festival in Rotterdam, ‘Under The Black Sun’ in Berlin and ‘Metal Magic’ in Denmark.

Currently, the band is rehearsing for more upcoming shows as well as working on new material. After 22 years, Countess is still going strong.

SAHHR – Los Angeles-Based Blackened Metal Legion To Release Debut EP This Halloween Via Domestic Genocide; Teaser Video Posted

Posted in Black Metal, metal music, Music, music news, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on September 17, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

Sahhr - debut EP - promo cover pic - 2014

Southern California-based Blackened Metal perpetrators, SAHHR, are readying to drop their self-titled debut EP upon the masses this Halloween!

Featuring past and current members of Skull And Bullets, Dowager, Scarecrow and Unwritten Law, SAHHR fuses all the prime elements of black metal, death metal and metalcore into a bestial mix of unrepentant audio torment fit for devout followers of Watain, 1349, Goatwhore and even Lamb Of God. The three-hymns comprising their forthcoming EP were written by vocalist Ryllyeh and guitarist Aarsoth, recorded at Lot 54 Studio in Huntington Beach, California by Dylan-James Ehren Brock (Ghost Of Abel, Skull And Bullets, Dowager, Intestinal Buffet) and will be released via Domestic Genocide on the unholiest of days, Halloween, alongside a special bloodbath of a video for second track, “Slay The Savior.”

Comments vocalist Ryllyeh: “We really feel people are going to dig the EP because these three songs really encompass the true scope of our sound. We try our best to stretch the limits of traditional black metal by adding elements from many different genres of extreme music, while still keeping it fluid and of course, at all times, HEAVY. We are pleased to join the Domestic Genocide roster as we’ve had dealings with the owner, Black Moor, before. He has very eclectic taste in metal and thought he would understand our sound. He also has a killer crew of people working behind the scenes so we know this debut will get in the correct hands.”

Sahhr – Track Listing:

  1. Altar Of Maggots
  2. Slay The Savior
  3. Miscreant

SAHHR formed earlier this year by singer/songwriter Ryllyeh. A veteran of the New York City punk and metal scenes since the early 1980s, Ryllyeh’s (AKA-Joe Truck, also a world-renowned tattoo artist) past musical endeavors include time spent in ’80s Deathrock bands Scarecrow and Braineaters, the latter of which included ex-Samhain guitarist, Damien. He also plays bass and screams in doom heavyweights-Dowager. Ryllyeh united with guitarist Aarsoth earlier this year and instantly began composing what would become the trio of tracks occupying the EP.

Sahhr will be released via Domestic Genocide Records on October 31st, 2014. In the meantime check out the twenty-second teaser clip below:

SAHHR Personnel:

Ryllyeh – Vocals

Aarsoth – Guitars

Nungh – Drums

Jukgoh – Bass

SAILLE – Reveal New Album Details

Posted in Black Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, music news, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , on September 8, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

Saille - band publicity pic - 2014 - #569

One of the most promising Extreme Metal outfits to emerge in the last 5 years, Saille, today reveals details for a brand new concept album. Featuring 9 tracks and 55 minutes of epic black metal in which the band have explored several well-known masterpieces of classic and modern horror literature; ‘Eldritch’ sees the Belgian sextet return with their third album and much anticipated follow-up to the highly acclaimed ‘Irreversible Decay’ and ‘Ritu’ albums released in 2011 and 2013 respectively.

‘Eldritch’ will be released in an elaborate digipak edition as well as digitally on 10th November via Code666. See below for a complete track listing.

01) Emerald

02) Walpurgis

03) The Great God Pan

04) Aklo

05) Cold War

06) Eater of Worlds

07) Red Death

08) Dagon

09) Carcosa

‘Eldritch’ recording sessions were once again supervised by Reinier Schenk, who prepared all songs for the final mixing and mastering by Klas Blomgren (SW), known for his work with Svart, the project of Shining’s bass player Draug.

The band commissioned England’s Colin Marks of Rain Song Design for the cover art who is most noted for his work with bands such as Strapping Young Lad, Exodus, Scar Symmetry, Suicide Silence to name a few.

Saille - Eldritch - promo album cover pic - 2014

Keyboardist Dries Gaerdelen founded Saille (pronounced sahl-yeh) in 2009, in order to create his favourite style of music (Melodic Black Metal with a threatening and epic feel, like Tartaros, Limbonic Art and Keep of Kalessin). The debut album ‘Irreversible Decay’ was recorded at the end of 2009 and finalized in September 2010. After being contacted by several labels, Saille chose to work with Code666 records and the album was released on 4th March 2011. At first Saille was only intended as a studio project. However, it soon became clear the music should be brought to life and several shows followed. The live shows of the first album were concluded with a slot on Belgium’s biggest metalfest Graspop Metal Meeting 2012. At the end of 2012 another highlight was their appearance at The Netherlands Eindhoven Metal Meeting.

In July 2012 the band hit the Shumcot Studio again to record their second album entitled ‘Ritu’. With lyrics inspired by death rites in ancient cultures and vocalist Dennie Grondelaers’ interest for H.P. Lovecraft and Cthulhu, the next album had a much darker setting. Again classical skilled guest musicians were invited to create the irreplaceable real sounds. After two months of intensive recording sessions, the final mix was finished in September and sent to the Norwegian mastering specialist Tom Kvålsvoll (Strype Audio). On 18th January 2013 ‘Ritu’ saw the light of day as a digipak.

After the release of the ‘Ritu’ Saille was looking forward to an intensive year. They embarked on their first tour in January 2013, with Transylvanian black metal legends Negura Bunget. Followed by more gigs in Belgium and the Netherlands, supporting bands like Textures, Von, Winterfylleth, In-Quest and The Monolith Death Cult. During summer, Saille was invited to perform on several festivals like AMF (with Napalm Death), Vlamrock (with Exhumed, Belphegor, Rotting Christ) and Metal Méan (with Marduk, Dying Fetus). In September, Saille supported Winterfylleth, a British band they consider as friends since they first met on Graspop 2012, on three UK shows. The band’s last performance for 2013 took place in Denmark for a headlining position on the Black Winter Fest in Copenhagen, Denmark.

2014 started with shows alongside Carach Angren, Asphyx and a second UK visit to Liverpool and London. While composing and recording the songs for the third album ‘Eldritch’ (adj. weird, sinister, unearthly or ghostly), Saille joined founders of black metal, the true Mayhem, on stage in Belgium’s most known concert venue – AB Brussels. During summer 2014, recording sessions were at full speed, and Saille played at Black Way Open Air festival in Germany, along with their friends in Aborted.

‘Eldritch’ will be presented in Bredene, Belgium at a release show with Winterfylleth on 10th November 2014 and again at Eindhoven Metal Meeting in The Netherlands on 12th December 2014.

THRONE OF SACRILEGE was formed in 2012 and consists of current/former members of Ezurate, Psychomancer, Ebonmortis, Fin, Relentless, Disfigurement, Against the Plagues and Apothecarrion. Combining their talent and pedigrees, the band is: Grimnyr-Guitars/Bass; Throgrym-Vocals; DK-Percussion. Drawing from influences of past legends like Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, Sodom, Destruction, Kreator, Bathory, Asphxy and Sarcofago the band hammered out several songs, but decided to only record and release three. Very chaotic and brutal, the elements of Black and Death metal are pervasive. facebook.com/throneofsacrilege

IMPURIUM is a three-piece Black Metal outfit hailing from Northwest Indiana. The band formed in 2008 by brothers Andrew and Aaron Mote. After many years of being influenced by Slayer, Death, Dark Throne, Mayhem and Immortal, the brothers joined forces and began penning material for a possible release. In the fall of 2009 drummer David Ross (Invasion, Nocturnal Torment, Afterlife, Sea of Tranquillity) joined the brothers Mote and chaos ensued. That which is recorded is a blasphemic, tortured, mid 80’s Black Metal sound captured on audio! facebook.com/pages/IMPURIUM/71173899896

VOID RITUAL “Holodomor” EP – Is Stone’s METAL Pick Of The Day!

Posted in Black Metal, metal music, music news, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , on June 11, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

Void Ritual - Holodomor - promo cover pic

5 Out Of 5 METAL Fists!

Metalfistredbckgrndsmall5

Void Ritual is a one man project of Daniel Jackson (Also of Ancestral Oath), from Albuquerque, New Mexico.  The EP’s name, Holodomor refers to a man-made famine and extermination by hunger; which resulted in the deaths of millions of people from the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. This incredibly tragic chapter in history took place during 1932 and 1933.

Tridroid Records will be releasing Void Ritual’s Holodomor on cassette, this coming August. While the album has been available as a digital download for some time, Holodomor’s physical release will include the previously unreleased track Mourning the Dawn. After I’ve listened to Holodomor several times, it is very apparent that Void Ritual boasts a superb multi-instrumentalist and vocalist.

There is no denying, to my ears, that the Black Metal created by Void Ritual is a standout among underground Metal I’ve listened to thus far, this year. This 4 song EP as a whole is a fascinating listen, into just how grand Black Metal can be represented from the USA. There are blackened melodic moments to savor, with Mourning The Dawn; while the fiercely extreme side of Void Ritual’s blackened sound is served up with the opening track: Cold. The title track is nothing short of amazing and delivers on its terrifying theme, at an epic 6:23.

The totality of blackened sensations that overtook me after listening to Holodomor had me running to my front office window; peering to see if a sinkhole leading to the fiery depths of hell formed in the middle of the street. Yes, Void Ritual is that good. Metal be thy name. – Stone

LYSURA “II” – Midwest Black Metal Band’s EP Is: Stone’s METAL Pick Of The Day!

Posted in Black Metal, metal music, music news, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , on June 5, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

LYSURA - DEMO II - PROMO COVER PIC

LYSURA – Formed by ex-Acheron guitarist Max Othworth, LYSURA originally premiered in 2012 with the release of their EP Malignancy. A Black Metal band from Indianapolis, LYSURA takes no shortcuts in delivering their blackened lyrical rage and ultra-impressive song crafting with their newest EP II. The two songs on II each carry the identical running time of 8:41 and are epics to be savored.

Seasons In Exile and Tome Of Surreption both accentuate LYSURA’s conscientious approach to experimenting with time signatures and doing so very effectively; making both songs radiate on a technical and melodic level, while not vacating the Black Metal experience for one nanosecond. Guitarist Max Otworth’s vocals are convincingly demonic and true to the genre. I applaud each musician in LYSURA for their stellar musicianship; which I can listen to all day.

I can pinpoint moments of Death Metal riffage in Tome Of Surreption, along with some Iron Maiden(ish) guitar licks, however, LYSURA has entered into the Black Metal realm with outstanding originality and I wouldn’t want to see them stray from the Blackened musical path they’ve taken thus far. I absolutely cannot wait for a full-length album from LYSURA. Metal be thy name. – Stone

ASTRAL BLOOD – ALBUM ANNOUNCEMENT

Astral Blood - Andrew Rasmussen - 2014 - #09

Minnesota’s Astral Blood are excited to announce that they will unleash their highly anticipated self-titled debut EP with Tridroid Records. Projected to be released in the summer of 2014 “Astral Blood” will feature 3 tracks of haunting atmospheric Black Metal.

Initially formed in early 2013 by Andrew Rasmussen (Also drummer of Noble Beast), Astral Blood quickly built a buzz for themselves in the underground scene of Minneapolis. By their second show, the band found themselves as opening act for Tesseract and soon after signed with Tridroid Records.

After a couple of line up changes, Rasmussen has now solidified Astral Blood’s lineup by recruiting members of Sept of Memnon and Suffering Hour to fill out the band.

“Our minds and bodies are desperate, languishing shackled in the land of North America, but nothing will ever imprison our souls. We stare out at you from Saturn’s rings. Contained within our hearts, our hearts of winter’s chill, there rages cosmos more violent, erotic, and mysterious than the pitiful world mankind calls home.” – Andrew Rasmussen

Band members:

Terrorizer Magazine - Norway - special issue - May 2014 - promo cover pic

As reported on the Terrorizer Facebook page:

Terrorizer’s Secret History of Norway is out now! We bring you the history of all that transpired in that famous black metal scene of the early 1990s – the music, the mayhem, the murders and the controversy. We get the oral history on what it was actually like to be a part of that scene, as told by key players like The True Mayhem‘s Necrobutcher, Darkthrone‘s Fenriz and Satyricon‘s Satyr, to name but a few.

But don’t think black metal is all that Norway has to offer, as we also explore everything from avant-garde weirdness to death metal destruction and the fury of Oslo punk, as well as bringing you our list of essential Norwegian albums.

BEHEMOTH “The Satanist” – A Remarkable Album And Fan Loyalty = Album Chart Success

Behemoth - The Satanist - CD:DVD - promo pic - #2 - 2014 - 44

BEHEMOTH – There’s no question that the tenth studio album, The Satanist, from Poland’s BEHEMOTH has made a lasting Metal impact upon the Metal masses. I see this current album/digital chart success as a telling reminder to the status-quo mainstream: that quality Metal exists and will never say die! Both the commendable Metal and artwork of The Satanist, coupled with BEHEMOTH’s (ever-growing) loyal fan base have made a profound Metal statement during this month of February.

Album chart success for an Extreme Metal band is not an example of selling-out; instead it’s an example of the Metal cream rising to the top. Hard work and dedication to one’s craft shall pay dividends; in the case of BEHEMOTH, the Metal dividends are (in my opinion) well-earned. This recent chart success for BEHEMOTH also means that their fans have spoken and spent their hard-earned money on The Satanist, while any illegal downloaders can march straight into the douche-bag posers lounge and drink stale prune juice.

The Satanist was released in North America, via Metal Blade Records on February 4th. Below you will see the chart numbers for both the U.S. and Canada. This information was posted on the BEHEMOTH! Facebook page, on February 12th. – Stone

BEHEMOTH – The Satanist U.S. Chart Numbers:

Billboard Top 200 – #34

BEHEMOTH – “The Satanist” Is Out Now, Sparking Current Numerous Cover Stories; Boasting Dazzling Album Cover/Liner Notes Art – An In-Depth Look!

Widespread Critical Acclaim For The Legendary Behemoth’s New Studio Album – The Satanist

_______________________________

BEHEMOTH – The legendary Nergal and Behemoth have received a quantum amount of Metal attention in recent weeks, due to the release of their tenth studio album: The Satanist. From all corners of the Metal community, the reviews for The Satanist have been pouring in, from favorable to perfect. The largely circulated Metal magazines have been featuring Nergal and Behemoth as their respective cover stories, from Terrorizer to Metal Hammer and many, many in-between.

The Satanist was released on February 4th, in both North America and in Behemoth’s home country of Poland, via Metal Blade Records. A February 3rd release date happened for Europe, via Nuclear Blast. I bought my copy of The Satanist (CD/DVD edition) at Best Buy for $9.99 (U.S.) on release day and the cover art differs from the art that has been more widely shown and marketed for the CD:

Behemoth - The Satanist - Silver Cover - promo pic - 2014

This silver cover version (above, with band logo and upside down album title) is a tremendous piece of art unto itself! Truthfully, the black band logo and upside down album title, atop the silver background, speaks for itself. This is, in my Metal opinion, a perfect example of less is more, in the world of art.

The liner notes for the CD/DVD edition are done with graphic design elegance, featuring pages dedicated for the words of Nergal pertaining to the lyrics and development of every song, with an added overlay page of vellum for each. The loyalty that Nergal has towards Satan is very forthright, within these pages of liner notes. The DVD contains The Satanist: Oblivion – Live Barbarossa. An incredible package of liner notes, and additional artwork; simply stunning!

Behemoth - The Satanist - promo cover pic - 2014

Denis Forkas Kostromitin is the artist for The Satanist cover (above). A Russian painter and occultist, Denis Forkas Kostromitin is world-renowned and created a brilliant, haunting and nightmarish dark work of art, in my Metal opinion. This painting even included the added medium of Nergal’s own blood. That is a fascinating way to become a personal part of your own artistic and spiritual vision and Nergal has done just that!

I will soon write a review for The Satanist and will (as always) be non-biased when it comes to the lyrical content based on spiritual beliefs. Metal music is an art form that I cherish, therefore my already instilled belief systems on spirituality, morality and ethics can never be swayed at this point in my Metal life. However, I’ve never been bashful to critique a bad album cover. Perhaps it’s due to my past college experience I’ve had with all of my fine art classes.

Behemoth - The Satanist - CD:DVD - promo pic - #2 - 2014 - 44

As a past student of the fine arts, I took a beating from critiques and was commended as well. With that said, I’ve always believed the Metal genre to be the crème de la crème of artistic vision when album cover and liner notes art are discussed; and The Satanist visual art is a radiant gem. Nergal, Behemoth and Denis Forkas Kostromitin should deservedly be proud about the visual side of The Satanist.

For me, the music of Metal and its corresponding visual art is what I gravitate towards; while the personal and/or theological beliefs, ideals and lyrics of any respective band falls under individual liberties and free speech. These freedoms none of us should take for granted. The Satanist raises the bar for Metal visual art, for many, many years to come. Metal be thy name. – Stone

DEAD IN THE MANGER – 20 Buck Spin Confirms Numerous Releases By Insidious Blackened Grind Entity

Dead In The Manger - promo band pic - #33051 - 2014

Olympia, Washington-based 20 Buck Spin continuously defies all extreme music genre boundaries, the label’s vast juggernaut of a roster containing top-tier acts from all realms and scenes of the underground, and now continues this tradition with the new induction of mysterious entity, DEAD IN THE MANGER.

Very little information was provided to 20 Buck Spin regarding DEAD IN THE MANGER when the label was initially contacted about a release, only that the band delivers a mix of depressive black metal and grind (which seemed on paper an impossible combination) and that the intention is to leave a feeling of unease and despondency in the listener. Nonetheless, a cursory listen to the outfit’s debut MLP, Transience, leaves no doubt that DEAD IN THE MANGER succeeds handily in creating music both brutally violent and coldly agonizing.

___________________________

Transience begins with an atmospheric repetitive motive conjuring a bleak sadness that sets the stage for an urgent right turn to scalpel-sharp, maximum BPM aggression and multiple stab wounds of hate-driven malcontent. Filled with ill will and revulsion, DEAD IN THE MANGER walks a fine line between all out sensory violence and post trauma exhaustion.

With just six songs in less than twenty minutes — succinctly named Parts I-VI — Transience destroys the listener with a calculated premeditation in a short time, and is intended as a first glimpse at what DEAD IN THE MANGER is preparing for, as a debut full-length album is currently in the works.

Transience will be unleashed on MLP and digital formats in North America on April 29th and in Europe on May 2nd. DEAD IN THE MANGER’s LP debut will follow later in 2014, also on 20 Buck Spin.

Transience – Track Listing:

1. Part I

2. Part II

3. Part III

4. Part IV

5. Part V

6. Part VI

BEHEMOTH has posted a brand new behind the scenes video for The Satanist. This video is the first in a series of four that chronicles a selection of the creative and technical processes behind the album that Albert Mudrian of Decibel Magazine heralds as “simply the best BEHEMOTH record ever.” Watch the making of video now at metalblade.com/behemoth, where pre-order bundles for “The Satanist” are also available.

The Satanist was produced by Behemoth, Wojtek and Slawek Wieslawscy and Daniel Bergstrand in Hertz Studio. The album was mixed by Matt Hyde (Slayer) and mastered by Ted Jensen (Metallica, AC/DC) at Sterling Sound. WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM – Reveal Details On New Recordings

Following the November release of their BBC Session 2011 Anno Domini two-track live 12″ via Southern Lord, new recordings from WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM have been confirmed for a 2014 release. Following several months of anticipation, the Cascadian Black Metal clan comprised of brothers Aaron and Nathan Weaver now humbly unveil their impending full-length release, Celestite.

Taking a different approach than their previous LPs, Celestite is a completely newly envisioned, parallel-universe version of Celestial Lineagethe beautifully blackened fourth studio full-length epic WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM released via Southern Lord in 2011. Celestite arises with a whole new, ethereal approach. There are no drums and no vocals. Rather, deep, heavy crystalline synthesizer journeying, Eno-inspired analog processing and arcane acoustic instrumentation expand upon dimensions folded within the universe of Celestial Lineage.

__________________________

The Weavers tell us: “To make Celestite, we delved into the subterranean sonics that are buried in the mix of Celestial Lineage. We isolated them, processed them and took this unearthed soundscape as our starting point. Upon this base we recorded an entirely new album. Some melodies from Celestial Lineage are recognizable, but these familiar sounds appear as ghosts, barely tethered to the original compositions. This new album is an unorthodox foray; a fully instrumental, experimental companion record to Celestial Lineage. We left some work undone with Celestial Lineage. The recording of that album in the Winter of 2011 was a monumental project for us personally, and the creative fire from those recording sessions was still burning. This recording process was an opportunity to journey into our own inner universe to complete that which needed to be completed.”

Paired once again with producer Randall Dunn (Earth, Sunn O))), Master Musicians Of Bukkake), Celestite came to fruition at Avast Studios and WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM’s own Olympia-based studio Owl Lodge. While cloistered during the recording sessions they made use of a mammoth arsenal of crumbling vintage equipment including a Serge Modular System, Korg Poly6, Korg MS20, Korg Mono/Poly, Roland Juno 106, Roland Jupiter 6, Roland Super jx10, Jomox Airbase 99, Access Virus and more. The album also features a guest wind ensemble including friends Josiah Boothby on French Horn, Steve Moore (Earth, Sunn O))), Stebmo) on Trombone, and both Mara Winter and Veronica Dye on flute.

____________________________

The upcoming release of Celestite is doubly exciting for WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM as it will mark another new venture for the duo; the inaugural release on their own new label, Diadem Records. The band states, “Diadem Records is the imprint we created to release Celestite and future albums. Most importantly for us, working on this album has revealed a whole new vein of creative energy for WITTR. Now that the long trip of creating this album is finished, our appetite is whetted for future projects, thus we feel it necessary to pre-empt the inevitable chatter that will accompany the release of this record. WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM has not permanently abandoned the guitar and drums! We sense that one day, perhaps sooner, perhaps later, we will be inspired to return to our stacks of amplifiers and cabinets to create new music.”
