Following their recent run supporting Carcass and Immolation, CREEPING DEATH will return to the stage this August on a North American headlining tour. The trek begins August 16th in El Paso, Texas, runs through September 18th in Austin, Texas, and includes performances at this year’s edition of Psycho Las Vegas and Full Terror Assault. Support will be provided by 200 Stab Wounds and Tribal Gaze as well as Ingrown, Spirit World, Vomit Forth, Age Of Apocalypse, and labelmates Plague Years on select dates.

Comments the band, “We’re extremely excited to embark on our first headlining tour later this Summer. We can’t wait to hit the road with such an eclectic group of bands. We’ll see you all very soon!”

Tickets go on sale Friday, June 10th! See all confirmed dates below.

CREEPING DEATH continues to tour in support of their most recent release The Edge Of Existence EP, unleashed last year via MNRK Heavy. With a nod to crossover masters Iron Age, a bit of the tech-death of Cryptopsy, a foundation of forebearers Death, CREEPING DEATH summons a vibrant sound somehow both familiar and fresh. The Edge Of Existence EP further demonstrates the power, fury, and outright revelry at the heart of the band’s identity.

Captured at Homewrecker Recording Studio in Tucson, Arizona and produced and mixed by Ryan Bram (Gatecreeper, Bitter Rivals, Sex Prisoner), the six-song EP introduces three new certified hellraisers — “Relics From The Past,” “Humanity Transcends,” and the title track — alongside remade and revitalized versions of the three songs from the band’s 2016 debut EP — “Sacrament Of Death,” “Doused In Flames,” and “Skinned Alive.”

The Edge Of Existence EP is available on CD, cassette, digitally and vinyl at THIS LOCATION.

Comprising eleven tracks, Violence Unimagined is state of the art death metal played with passion and breathless precision, making for another flawless addition to what is inarguably one of the premier catalogues of the genre.

While they continue to do what they do with aplomb, the one substantial change to CANNIBAL CORPSE is the addition of guitarist Erik Rutan to their ranks, joining bassist Alex Webster, founding drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz, guitarist Rob Barrett, and vocalist GeorgeCorpsegrinderFisher. Known for his roles in Morbid Angel, Ripping Corpse, and most notably fronting the mighty Hate Eternal, Rutan has long established himself as one of the most dynamic forces in contemporary death metal. Simultaneously, he has built up a reputation as one of the most in demand producers in metal, having previously produced four CANNIBAL CORPSE albums (in addition to Violence Unimagined), alongside the likes of Goatwhore, Soilent Green, and Belphegor. Filling in live on guitar since 2019, in 2020 he became a full member, contributing to the writing process.

EMPTY THRONE – Announce New Line-up Featuring Members of CANNIBAL CORPSE and SUFFOCATION

Posted in Death Metal, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , , on April 21, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

Melodic/blackened death metal band EMPTY THRONE is once again on the move with plans of sending even larger ripples through the metal world by turning an already impressive lineup into a full-fledged supergroup. With writing underway for their upcoming full-length, EMPTY THRONE has added Jack Owen (Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Six Feet Under) and Mike Smith (Suffocation) to the fold.

One of the most renowned guitarists in metal today, Jack will be providing his legendary riffage that helped define the last three decades of death metal. Mike will take the helm behind the kit delivering his unmistakably brutal drumming style. The two veterans will join returning EMPTY THRONE members C.R. Petit (Angerot), Jason Ellsworth (Angerot), and Michael J Pardi (Possessed, Draconis, Ritual) for what promises to be an absolute powerhouse of an album. Stay tuned for the next hellish chapter of EMPTY THRONE!

EMPTY THRONE formed in 2020 with C.R. Petit and Jason Ellsworth of Angerot joining forces with Mike Pardi (Possessed, Draconis, Ritual) and Gabe Seeber (Kennedy Veil, Decrepit Birth, Black Crown Initiate, Abbath) with a goal of creating a unique blend of Death, Black and Thrash Metal. The styling of EMPTY THRONE has been referred to as “Hellish Blackened Deathrash”. It draws upon the violent propulsion of 80’s thrash. The agile savagery of mid-90s Gothenburg-style death metal. Rabid vocals blended with dark atmospherics of late-stage black metal. The result was a ferocious onslaught of speed, power, and outright aggression backed with deadly hooks and grooves. The members of EMPTY THRONE are all veteran hell-bringers and have deep lineage in the extreme metal genre.

EMPTY THRONE partnered with the upcoming label Wise Blood Records to release their three-track 23-minute debut EP, Glossolalia, in 2021 to rave reviews. The EP quickly sold out and proved the band a force to be heard.

RIVERS OF NIHIL will be touring in support of their newest full-length, The Work, released last Fall on Metal Blade Records. RIVERS OF NIHIL has never fit neatly into a box, but with 2018’s Where Owls Know My Name, they transcended all labels applied to them. Returning in 2021 with The Work, they’ve forged further into new territory, delivering an album that’s as cerebral as it is visceral, and that covers a staggering sonic range, definitively placing them in a category of their own.

Inarguably a dense, heavy collection, The Work is far too dynamic to be considered a solely metal record and there is a genuine warmth that shows through, particularly tracks like “Wait” and the gorgeous “Maybe One Day.” Additionally, the band has incorporated far more clean vocals alongside the screaming that tears through many of the record’s heavier tracks. Courtesy of their friend Zach Strouse, saxophone once again adds extra layers of atmosphere to the collection, utilizing baritone, soprano, and alto saxes to great effect.

Bigfoot Metal Band TROGLODYTE Announce New Album – Release “Meat Your Maker” Featuring Ross Sewage

Posted in Death Metal, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , , on January 28, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

Bigfoot-inspired death metal band TROGLODYTE has re-emerged from the Missouri wilderness with their newest bloody slab of brutality, The Hierarchical Ecological Succession: Welcome to the Food Chain.

The album’s first single comes in the form of an 8-bit lyric video for the song “Meat Your Maker,” featuring guest vocals by Ross Sewage (EXHUMED, GHOUL, IMPALED). Ross had this to say about his contribution: “I was pleased as punch when the mutants in Troglodyte asked me to be a part of their music track, ‘Meat Your Maker.’ This was in fact because they punched me, repeatedly, until I meekly gurgled out my parts. Don’t fuck with Troglodyte.”

Check out “Meat Your Maker” now at youtu.be/WLBkynVUKmY and below:

“Meat Your Maker” is also available on all streaming platforms.

The band’s long-awaited fourth album features a rouge’s gallery of names from the metal community. ORIGIN bassist Mike Flores, who has taken part in numerous live shows with the band for years, is making his first studio appearance, writing and recording bass on the new album. Brent Purgason (aka Pustulus Maximus of GWAR), Shwan Knight (CHILD BITE), and Ross Sewage (EXHUMED, GHOUL, IMPALED) also make guest appearances.

Blood Blast Distribution will release The Hierarchical Ecological Succession: Welcome to the Food Chain on all streaming platforms on 3/5/22.

The Hierarchical Ecological Succession: Welcome to the Food Chain was recorded and mixed by Ryan Vincent/Apollo Audio Alt (Misery Index, Scour). Album artwork by Dusty Peterson (Cattle Decapitation, Six Feet Under, Lamb of God).

TROGLODYTE has been battering audiences with their unique brand of knuckle-dragging metal for well over a decade. Created by special effect artist and music video director Jeff Sisson as an homage to all things Bigfoot, the “creature-features” of the ’70s-’80s and classic death metal.

With titles like “Bring Me the Head of Bigfoot,” “Mummified Yeti Hand,” “Murderous Bi-Pedal Hominid Rampage (Where are My Legs?)” and “Entrails Torn from a Cryptid’s Gut,” these songs are not for the faint of heart or those without a sense of humor.

Appearances at the annual Gwar BQ, Detroit’s Berserker, Las Vegas Death Fest, and Denver’s Black Sky festival, as well as hundreds of shows supporting touring acts such as HATEBREED, ROB ZOMBIE, and GWAR, have made them crowd favorites.

The current line-up features Mike Flores from ORIGIN, as well as Michael Langner and Brandon Mitchell from TORN THE FUCK APART.

Horror Inspired Extreme Metal VORAATH (ft. Nile, Xael members) Unleash Next Single “The Barrens”

Posted in Extreme Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , on January 26, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

VORAATH, the brutal horror-inspired extreme metal band featuring members from Nile, Xael, Rapheumets Well, Implosive Disgorgence, and Sweet Blood are unleashing their next single “The Barrens” to follow their debut single and music video “Siren Head” directed by drummer Joshua Nassaru Ward and released this past November.

As part of the band’s vivid storytelling, “The Barrens” kickstarts another musical odyssey. Picture a dystopian Earth around the year 2136 and more than 80 percent of the world’s population disappeared after the arrival of an alien species. The music follows a group of mercenaries employed by The Eos Corporation to locate and retrieve something referred to as “the nexus key” in which they run into some complicated and dangerous resistance. Since the arrival of the “Cosmic Architects” strange creatures now roam the dystopian planet. The music is meant to portray the dire and odd environment in which the story unfolds.

The track is just a preview from the otherworldly and experimental metal act based out of the Carolinas as they work on recording their forthcoming full length.

Listen to “The Barrens” at the following links:

Music Video – Siren Head – https://youtu.be/4hQzFSpkN9Q

Coming together only during September 2021, Voraath features Brad Parris (Nile) on vocals and guitar, Joshua Nassaru Ward (Xael, Rapheumets Well) on drums, vocals and keys, along with Paul McBride (Implosive Disgorgence, Sweet Blood) on bass, and guitarists Daniel Presnell and Tylor Kohl. The band first began as a vessel for them as musicians to continue touring and writing.

“We wanted to explore even further integrating science fantasy, soundscapes, and metal. This will be something new bringing together emotional yet brutal music and science fantasy so we hope to appeal to both metal enthusiasts as well as those who appreciate the lore of the music.” adds the band.

Transporting fans to a different world, Voraath plans to offer up both escapism and music that relates to them on a personal level. For their live performance, the band has lots of on-stage theatrics and costuming to bring the storytelling to life. It will be both intense and immersive.

Voraath is recommended for fans of death metal, black metal, and 80’s movie soundtracks.

Keyboards and Orchestra performed by Lou Kelley. Release My Suffering was recorded and mixed by Hunter Peterson at Desidarius Recordings. Album artwork by Chadwick St. John.

Originally formed in 2011 from the ashes of other local death metal groups, GORESKINCOFFIN started as a three-piece featuring Dean Rice (drums), Dustin Stark (guitar/vocals), and Justice Reckis (bass). The trio wrote and released their debut album, Corpse Filled Caskets, that same year. The album drew influences from black and death metal bands, both classic and modern.

Following a six-year hiatus, GORESKINCOFFIN returned with the addition of Cody Winter on vocals. The band released their second full-length, Shattered Conceptions Ov Reality, in 2017. Guitarist Randy Hoofard joined the fold shortly thereafter. In 2018, the band released the Cursed Paths EP.

GORESKINCOFFIN then amicably parted ways with Hoofard, a move that saw Reckis pick up guitar duties and the addition of new bassist Edgar Castro-Salazar. The newly invigorated lineup released the “Wrath and Ruin” single in 2021 before going to work on their newest burnt offering, Release My Suffering.

PLAGUE YEARS released their critically-adored Circle Of Darkness full-length in 2020 via MNRK Heavy. Mining the subterranean depths once unearthed on classic Sepultura albums like Beneath The Remains and Arise, with the vicious bite of Germanic slabs like In The Sign Of Evil by Sodom and the Hall of Fame ‘80s output of Slayer, the devilish and down-tuned death worship within PLAGUE YEARS serves as a demonic calling card for the foursome; a brutal counterbalance to their otherwise like minded thrash revivalists. On Circle Of Darkness,

PLAGUE YEARS reunites with engineer Arthur Rizk, whose work with Power Trip, Tomb Mold, Candy, and Cavalera Conspiracy has propelled him to the front of the horde amidst the resurgence of crossover thrash.

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER will be touring in support of their Verminous full-length, released last Spring via Metal Blade Records. Without compromising one iota of heaviness, Verminous is unquestionably the band’s most dynamic, rousing, and emotional release to date. That this is a new phase for THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER is apparent as the compellingly filthy opening title track rumbles to life, and the album remains gripping for each of the nine tracks that follow. MESHUGGAH – Announces New Album “Immutable” For April 1st Via Atomic Fire – Album Preorders Start January 28th

Posted in Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , , on January 15, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

Mavericks. Pioneers. Unique. Immutable.

Destined to be one of 2022’s most hailed and talked-about releases, Immutable once again showcases MESHUGGAH’s collective brilliance, including some of the most jaw-dropping ensemble performances they have ever executed.

Six years on from the band’s most recent full-length, The Violent Sleep Of Reason, 2022 brings a fresh and fearsome revelation from MESHUGGAH. Shattering even the highest of expectations, the band’s ninth album is simply their wildest and most esoteric sonic adventure yet and will be released on April 1st via Atomic Fire. Recorded at Sweetspot Studios in Halmstad (Sweden), mixed by Rickard Bengtsson and Staffan Karlsson and mastered by multiple Grammy award winner Vlado Meller(Metallica, Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, System Of A Down), Immutable will be available in various CD, vinyl, and tape formats. Presales will begin on January 28th, and the first single will be revealed very soon. The stunning cover artwork was once again created by visionary artist Luminokaya.

For guitarist Mårten Hagström, the task of embarking on another unprecedented tech-metal odyssey was impossible to resist.

“The title fits perfectly for where we are as a band,” Hagström concludes. “We’re older now. Most of us are in our fifties now and we’ve settled into who we are. Even though we’ve been experimenting all along, I also think we’ve been the same since day one. The way we approach things and why we still make new albums, and why we still sound the way we do, it’s immutable. Humanity is immutable, too. We commit the same mistakes over and over. And we are immutable. We do what we do, and we don’t change.”

Legendary. Unique. Immutable.

MESHUGGAH is still operating on a higher level of metallic consciousness than just about everybody else. This band blow minds for a living, and Immutable is their most explosive work of monstrous art yet.

MESHUGGAH stand alone. The most inventive and creative metal band of the last thirty years and one of the most widely revered, MESHUGGAH has been standard bearers for forward-thinking creativity in heavy music throughout their illustrious careers. Over the course of more than three decades and eight studio albums, Sweden’s widely worshipped progressive mavens have consistently redefined what it means to be heavy, while exhibiting a ferocious intelligence that belies the crushing weight of their riffs. From the ground-breaking savagery of 1995’s Destroy Erase Improve, to the psychedelic tech-splorations of CatchyThirtyThree, and on to the streamlined grotesquery of ObZen and Koloss, MESHUGGAH has always been way ahead of the game and plainly without peer.

MÆNTRA – Release Drum/Guitar Playthrough Video For “Svadhisthana”

Posted in Death Metal, Extreme Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , on January 13, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

San Francisco (CA) – Brutal Death/Industrial Metal healers MÆNTRA have released a Drum/Guitar Playthrough Video for “Svadhisthana,” the first single from forthcoming debut album Kundalini Rising. Featuring Adam Houmam (drums) and Rudy Pina (guitar), the video is available at the following link: youtu.be/kW1rjY88pPg and below:

MÆNTRA will release Kundalini Rising on February 18.

A lyric video for “Svadhisthana” is also available at youtu.be/4bOyD6SQZYc. The single is streaming on Bandcamp as well.

13.8 billion years ago, the universe was born from a big bang and consciousness was created through the sound of OM. From the journey of billions of years of evolution, survival, death, rebirth, wars, peace, and music emerges MÆNTRA, a quartet committed to helping their listeners find their own personal light by playing in the darkness and embracing aggression. MÆNTRA lays their meditative lyrics on top of a unique blend of brutal death metal, industrial sounds, atmospheric tones, and intentional healing energy.

It is said that by simply playing the debut album, Kundalini Rising, the listener is brought to a state of euphoria and dissolution of the ego. Time no longer has meaning and the past and present don’t exist. Layering a sonically aggressive sound with intentional healing and empowering lyrics, this journey of releasing demons and rejuvenating the soul is grounded in a tour of the seven chakras, guiding listeners through the healing process to release tension, erase limited beliefs, and improve overall physical and mental clarity. Fans can expect in person healing through MÆNTRA’s unique live experience shortly thereafter.

MÆNTRA was formed in 2017 through the current third dimensional incarnations of guitarist and vocalist Rudy Pina and drummer Adam Houmam (Cartilage, Ghoul, Terrorizer L.A.). The universe then brought Paul Ryan (Origin) on bass/vocals and keyboardist Martin Boynton (Short Fuse) to complete the team.

NAPALM DEATH – Photo Gallery From Concert At Bogart’s In Cincinnati, Ohio – November 11, 2021

Yup. Napalm Death. Grindcore pioneers. When it comes to Extreme Metal it doesn’t truly get any more extreme. Napalm Death opened for the prolific GWAR, back on November 11th, at Bogart’s in Cincinnati Ohio. It was an evening that made me feel like the world was okay even though it’s not.

My good buddy Troy accompanied me to this wonderful event and the two of us felt very much at home with all of the beautiful insanity around us. Whatever was going on outside the walls of Bogart’s on this night I could’ve given two shits about. Napalm Death was live onstage!

It wasn’t that easy taking photos of Napalm Death. First and foremost, I was on the threshold of the pit and even outside the pit bodies were being tossed about like sacks of potatoes. Using my iPhone for these photos while trying not to get injured was actually fun, in its own demented way.

I was able to catch a couple of photos (above and below) showing drummer Danny Herrera. No, it wasn’t easy to do.

If you’re looking for a set list here, no can do. I survived just 3 songs in the pit and the rest of the time I was thrashing about like a lunatic stepping on fire hot legos. Song titles were not of my concern that night; throwing down was. At my age, I feel very fortunate I was able to throw down at all.

I’m pleased I’ve been able to share these Napalm Death photos and thoughts with you! My passion for Metal was double downed on November 11th, while at this show. Stay safe out there and… Metal be thy name! – Stone

THE BLEEDING – Reveal Artwork, Details For “Morbid Prophecy”

Posted in Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, music news, news, rock music, world news with tags , , , , , on August 12, 2019 by Metal Odyssey

World War Now Records is proud to announce UK Extreme Metallers THE BLEEDING, return with their hotly anticipated follow-up Morbid Prophecy, to 2018’s critically-acclaimed debut album, Rites of Absolution. Morbid Prophecy is set for release October 18, 2019 and the album cover art has now been unleashed.

Lead guitarist Tasos had this to say about the new album: “‘Morbid Prophecy’ is an aural descent into hell that encapsulates the saga of the fall of man. The themes of desperation, destruction and death echo through the album in a cacophony of damnation. Man enters the abyss and surrenders to the scale of horror he witnesses. With a ravaged mind he returns to deliver pain and suffering to the unbelievers.

Musically ‘Morbid Prophecy’ has set new standards for us in speed, execution and brutality. The songwriting process has been long and relentless as we pushed ourselves to create a blistering album that builds on the ferocity of our previous release ‘Rites of Absolution’. We feel that we have accomplished that as the recording has fully materialized our vision”

Track Listing:

01 – Demonic Oath

02 – Maelstrom

03 – Entering The Pandemonium

04 – Morbid Prophecy

05 – Storm of The Hellspawn

06 – Sadistic Saviour

07 – Repentance

08 – Hammer of Penance

Formed in 2010 by Themis on vocals and Tasos on guitar, THE BLEEDING was soon joined by Jeff on guitar and Dimitris on drums. Sean on bass completed the line up. The band’s first public performance took place on September 30, 2012 at The Monarch in Camden Town, London and introduced Jamie on vocals. Death Eternal, the band’s debut album was unleashed in 2013. Followed by the 2018 release of the highly acclaimed Rites of Absolution album via World War Now Records.

CANNIBAL CORPSE continues to tour in support of their critically lauded Red Before Black full-length released last year via Metal Blade Records. Many words come to mind when you hear the name CANNIBAL CORPSE, but only one truly defines the soon-to-be thirty-year death metal veterans: Unstoppable. Produced by Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, Goatwhore), Red Before Black serves to not only reiterate this but to once more raise the stakes, making it abundantly clear who sets the standard when it comes to manifesting consistently compelling music that is as brutal as it is complex. “Throughout our career, we’ve tried to improve the precision of both our musical execution and our album production, while still maintaining full-on aggression. Red Before Black continues in that direction, but might go even further on the aggressive side of things. It’s definitely precise, but it has a rawness to it that goes beyond anything we’ve done recently,” asserts bassist Alex Webster.

“We really worked super hard crafting these songs, practicing them, and getting them where we wanted to be more so than on any of our previous albums,” adds drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz. “And as Alex said, musically I think it’s the rawest sound we’ve had – and at the same time I think it’s our most focused, tightest, and catchiest record.”
