Italy’s gothic doom stalwarts THE FORESHADOWING have just released a live video for “Our Nightmares Call”, a song from the band’s latest album New Wave Order.
The mood is dark to melancholic, but also majestic and epic. Hailing from Rome (Italy), THE FORESHADOWING are something like the musical equivalent of the city they come from. Founded in 2005, the group can look back on a successful and eventful history. Listeners of gothic, doom and dark metal are very familiar with the quartet’s work.
THE FORESHADOWING gained popularity in the international scene with four acclaimed albums released between 2007 and 2016: Days of Nothing (2007), Oionos (2010), Second World (2012) and Seven Heads, Ten Horns (2016) and through touring with SWALLOW THE SUN, SATURNUS, MARDUK, MOONSPELL, ANTIMATTER and IN THE WOODS.
In 2023, THE FORESHADOWING ended a forced break of several years with the EP Forsaken Songs and a European tour with Saturnus and In The Woods. Now, New Wave Order is the group’s fifth full length album and their debut on LIFEFORCE RECORDS. The formation from Rome emphasizes its strengths on the album and offers cinematic tracks of dark music that is nevertheless immensely catchy and mood-enhancing.
While listening to New Wave Order, you are whisked away into a world full of secrets and allusions. The path is THE FORESHADOWING’s goal, which manifests itself in all-encompassing, organically developed musicality. The Italians are outstanding songwriters who create captivating arcs of suspense and also keep an eye on the overarching strands. Nothing else can be expected from this eternal band.
Twenty years ago, The 69 Eyes released what can be considered their biggest song to date: “Lost Boys.” This song was inspired by the 1987 vampire film classic: The Lost Boys. As stated by Cleopatra Records, “Lost Boys has become the band’s undisputed anthem, topping 20 million streams.” 💀
Now, “Lost Boys (20th Anniversary Version)” featuring Steve Stevens has been released via Cleopatra Records and is streaming on all the major music platforms. If you love the original, you’re gonna truly enjoy this redux with Steve Stevens’ guitar magic. I immediately put this new version of “Lost Boys” into my current song rotation and a couple of other playlists as well. It’s such a solid song for Halloween and beyond, from this legendary dark and spooky band! Happy Spooky Season! 🎃 – Stone
“Lost Boys (20th Anniversary Version)” was produced by Jyrki 69 and mixed by Cameron Webb. 👻
The original version of “Lost Boys” is on The 69 Eyes’ 2004 studio album: Devils. 👹
Mother Nature has a cycle of change and evolution that is inevitable. The moon’s phases change, tides rise and fall. Change is necessary for creation and rebirth.
It is with this in mind that, following the remaining dates on our current North American The Cult/Death Cult 8525 Tour, we have decided to step away from touring for an undetermined amount of time. We have toured extensively over the last few years and we shall now shift our focus to writing, recording new music, and exploring other projects that shall be revealed over time. It is a time for us to turn inward to recharge our spiritual batteries.
When we return to the stage, it shall be with an even stronger fire and energy that we will share with all of you. Ours is a communal bond, and it will not be broken, simply paused.
Until then, we have five remaining shows on this current tour, culminating at The Shrine in Los Angeles on Oct 30. Please join us for what has been an incredible celebration of 40 years of The Cult and Death Cult.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support. It keeps us alive.
“It’s been a beautiful three years celebrating our music with The Cult family around the world. Now it’s time to go home and spend time with our own families, and create some new music” – Billy
“My deepest gratitude to all who attended and immersed themselves in our world. I am deeply grateful to be connected to our Cult family as we ready ourselves for our final five shows for some time, and we take the opportunity to dive deeper into our next creative adventures. More shall be revealed. Blessings to you all.” – Ian
BLOOD VULTURE, a vampiric goth rock band created by Jordan Olds (2 Minutes To Late Night), has revealed a surreal new video for his single “Burn For It” (Feat. Brian Fair), starring SLEIGH BELLS’ vocalist Alexis Krauss.
Directed by Olds, the video pays tribute to 1981’s cult favorite psychological horror film Possession, and painstakingly recreates demonic scenes from the movie.
Commenting on the video, Oldsstates:
“The video is a homage to one of my favorite movies, Possession (1981). Almost every shot in the video is a recreation of a scene from the movie paced to the music. For decades, it was so difficult to actually watch the movie. It was banned in the US when it originally came out and then it wasn’t allowed on streaming for a long time. Now thanks to Kino Lorber and Metrograph, there’s tons of screenings and streaming services (including the free ones from the library) showing the full version.”
“I consider it to be one of the great masterpieces in alternative cinema with two of the best on screen performances of all time and my favorite camera work ever. This whole idea was basically a Trojan horse to get people excited about that movie again. I also couldn’t be more grateful to my friend Alexis Krauss for trusting me with this idea and giving so much time and energy to this. It takes a special kind of artist and a special kind of talent to find a way to be fully compelling for 5 entire minutes by themselves and Alexis is that kind of special.”
The new video for “Burn For It” is the latest from the insidious mind of Olds, and featured on his project BLOOD VULTURE’s debut album, Die Close, which is out now via Pure Noise Records. The hypnotic short follows previously released videos for “Die Close,” “Grey Mourning” (feat. Jade Puget of AFI) and “A Dream About Starving To Death.”
Luring listeners in with a mesmerizing melding of gothic romanticism, lush metallic vibes and brutal reckoning, BLOOD VULTURE’s initial offering Die Close features 10 haunting tracks perfect for the season at hand.

Gothic sludge night stalker, BLOOD VULTURE, created by Jordan Olds (2 Minutes To Late Night), has revealed the 2nd single, “Grey Mourning” (Featuring Jade Puget of AFI), from the upcoming debut album, Die Close, that will be release June 27th via Pure Noise Records.
Commenting on the song, Olds states:
“When I was in middle school, AFI was my gateway to punk, hardcore, and goth. Jade Puget specifically was probably the biggest influence on my guitar playing and songwriting in that very formative time in my life. He’s such a melodic and unique player, and “Grey Mourning” is just a barrage of chromatic death metal riffs, so I thought it would be a really fun juxtaposition to set him loose in that kind of space and see what he came up with. I was honored that he agreed to do it, and his solo is so cool and unpredictable. It was exactly what I wanted.
In my freshman year of highschool, I snagged a black Les Paul studio because I saw him playing one in the Leaving Song Pt. II video and that’s actually the same guitar that I used to mimic his solo for the video. So this whole thing has been a wild full circle moment for me. Oh yeah, and the song is about vampires.“
The the impending debut Die Close, BLOOD VULTURE lures listeners in with a mesmerizing melding of gothic romanticism, lush metallic vibes and brutal reckoning. The record features luminary guests Jade Puget (AFI), Kristin Hayter (Lingua Ignota) and Brian Fair (Shadows Fall).

May 2, 2025 – Legendary post-punk outfit Death Cult have slated two intimate club shows later this month: May 14 at The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, and May 16 at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles.
Death Cult has performed in the U.S. only once before, and only a handful of times in Europe, making these appearances exceptionally rare. The dates come as Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy prepare for their inaugural outing at Cruel World Festival on May 17.
Southern Death Cult formed in 1981, releasing their self-titled debut posthumously in 1983. Death Cult followed that same year, forming a crucial bridge between the raw punk Astbury and Duffy cut their teeth on and the driving, psychedelia-laced rock that would follow. The band released two 12-inches that same year, one being the Death Cult EP, which were later combined and released as a CD. Death Cult is a vital transmission from the generation of Shamanic post-punk gothic futurists.
In 1984, Death Cult evolved into The Cult, releasing Dreamtime that same year and going on to release 11 full-length albums, earning numerous gold and platinum certifications worldwide.
The Helsinki Vampires took the United States by the neck on their most recent tour, Death of Darkness. The 69 Eyes sunk their fangs into Leesburg Virginia on April 11th at the Tally Ho Theater, but they were not alone. Joining them were Budderside and The Bites and they all came with a thirst for blood and Rock N Roll.
Budderside took the stage first to the Goosebumps theme song that led into “Careless Whisper” which by the way even the gothiest of people will cheer for. They continued the spooky theme by opening the show with “Ghostlighting” and immediately had the crowd’s attention.
Lead singer Patrick Stone has the perfect combination of high pitch vocals and grungy rasp that makes Budderside sound so unique. Along with strong piercing vocals, Stone has a stage presence that is not only commanding and passionate but also comforting. It took no time for Stone to make his way off the stage and down to the barricade to really connect with fans. This literal in your face experience did nothing but hype the crowd up even more. By the last song Stone had escaped the barricade and truly connected with fans by running into the middle of the crowd and head-banging along with them.
Playing along side Stone is one of the finest young guitarist to join the rock and metal scene. Sam Koltun, better known as Sam Bam, truly knows his way around a guitar. However, it’s not just Koltun shredding for Budderside. Logan Nikolic took command of stage right in his own incredible style.
Both put their whole bodies into playing and you can both see and hear how much heart they put into their playing.
Towards the end of their set Stone began to encourage new and old fans to sing along with him to “Never Worth It.”Even those who didn’t know the lyrics picked up on instructions and “Never Worth It” became the loudest sung song of their set.
For the most part Budderside’s set stayed on the heavier side of things musically, only slowing down for “Joker,”a very sentimental song for Stone. Over all, Budderside’s lyrics are very relatable no matter how you interpret them. Their set made you feel every emotion.
As the band left the stage it was obvious they had gained quite a few excited new fans. They may have gone first but there is no way their set wasn’t permanently burned into everyone’s heart and soul.
The Bites took the stage next. Their music style is much lighter than Budderside, staying closer to their 80s glam metal side, but they did not hold back in the slightest.
Lead singer Jordan Tyler is the equivalent of this generations David Lee Roth. From running all over the stage and landing multiple high kicks, to a voice and face that drives the ladies wild. It’s like someone kept him in a cage and he was released on stage to let everything out. His goofy side also shown through during their cover of “War Pigs” by Black Sabbath when he changed “Just like witches at black masses” to “I love goth girls with fat asses”.
While hanging out with fans after the show, Tyler jokingly stated that they definitely weren’t having fun on stage. How do we know that’s a joke? Cause it’s blatantly obvious that every second they are on stage they are having the time of their lives doing what they love.
The crisp ear piercing sounds of Jono Richer‘s guitar is a very big part of what fueled the fans. With just as much energy as Tyler, Richer let the sleaze run from his fingers.
Just watching bass player Zack Currier, it’s safe to say if given the opportunity he would leave the stage to rock with the crowd. His movements were perfectly aligned with every pick of the bass.
Along with Currier, drummer Mark Hylander kept an exceptionally tight rhythm. Even behind the kit, his loud strikes against the drum heads reached fans and his talent elevated the band’s sound even more.
A long line awaited the band after their set as fans wanted their own autographed copy of 2023’s album Squeeze.
As the last of the day’s light disappeared, the creatures of the night came out to play literally. The 69 Eyes joined the party and left everything they had on stage. From the first note to the last song hands were in the air and fans were screaming at the top of their lungs.
The band took the stage to Elvis’s “Heartbreak Hotel,” a song that for those who aren’t familiar with the band will make so much sense later on in the show.
Opening the show with “Devils” was a perfect way to introduce the new fans in the crowd to the overall vibe of the rest of the night, and had the OG fans even more excited than before. By the third song everyone was pushed up as close to the barricade as possible reaching for the band.
Lead singer Jyrki is best described as Vampire Elvis, with a deep sultry voice and hips that would give The King himself a run for his money. The low gothic tones of his voice mixed with the classic horror rock n roll sound of the band makes it feel like you’re at sexy Halloween dance party.
Drummers are known to be wild and Jussi is no exception. Arms like an octopus and standing up on his drums like a monkey climbing a tree. He’s loud, impactful and adds the thunder to the beautiful storm that is The 69 Eyes. Paired with Jussi on bass is Archzie, who kept deep time and perfect low end all night.
The 69 eyes have two creatures producing the beautiful banshee screams and low ghostly moans on the guitar. Pasi Moilanen on stage left and Timo-Timo on stage right. Just like Archzie and Jussi, the two are a match made in heaven (or hell).
Jyrki fed off the crowds reaction all night, even holding the mic stand out over the pit and into the audience to encourage them to sing along louder which wasn’t a problem in the first place. Jyrki introduced Dance D’Amour by stating he had some moves to show us. As “Dance with me into Night” left his lips everyone was truly dancing. Not headbanging, not nodding along but dancing and swaying like they were in a calm trance.
The band left the stage for the encore and a member of their team came out and got the whole place chanting 69 as the band walked back out on stage. Jyrki placed a rose on the drum set and the madness continued. The most hype came when they began to play “Lost Boys”. No one wanted the show to end and there were nothing but smiles as the band said their final goodbyes.
The Death of Darkness tour featured 3 different styles of rock, yet they all blended so well together. The most important thing is that not once throughout the night did any one look bored or did any band sound bad. I don’t think anyone would be angry if these 3 bands toured together again next year. – Tanis Enos

THE 69 EYES earned platinum status with the albums Blessed Be (2000) and Paris Kills (2022) and not only reached #1 of the single and album charts in their home country of Finland, but also plunged the world into a sinful cosmos of love, death, and melancholy, while outliving any other band emerging from the goth hype of the early 2000s. By developing their sound further into sleaze rock on Devils (2004) and Angels (2007) and not shying away from pitch black Elvis allusions in singer Jyrki 69’s dark voice and unique onstage dance moves, the band has established a worldwide following. Over the course of more than three decades, the band has toured relentlessly throughout Europe, America, Asia, and Australia and released twelve full-length studio albums.
Sprawling across ten lavishly dark, effortlessly cool tracks, THE 69 EYES‘ Death Of Darkness is one of their most flawless and consistent offerings bearing a title that’s of course both stylish and symbolic, much like the music they create. 2023 is a far cry from the early days of the new millennium when gothic rock bands emerged from every graveyard and Finnish vampires stormed the charts around the world. However, the spirit of a world-class record like Death Of Darkness, the sheer passion and the enticing mystery, the suspense, and the smirk, are still very much alive.
Helsinki’s longest serving gothic rock vampires THE 69 EYES will return to Western US stages this Spring! The week-long Gotta Rock US Tour will commence on May 5th in Phoenix, Arizona at The Nile Theater and run through May 13th in Las Vegas, Nevada at Sick New World Fest. Support will be provided by Pretty Boy Floyd on select dates. Alongside some classics, fans can expect to hear tracks taken from THE 69 EYES’ long-awaited new album, to be released later this year via Atomic Fire Records. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 27th. See all confirmed dates below.

“Remember To Breathe” is the latest magical offering from LINDSAY SCHOOLCRAFT. Featuring a duet with SARAH JEZEBEL DEVA and Mustis on piano, the new release delivers an epic and heavy sound, setting the stage for SCHOOLCRAFT to take her solo work to the next level in 2023.
LINDSAY comments: “This one is rather special because it’s the result of community. Community of musicians and community of fans.
The track was originally something I orchestrated that didn’t make a cut a few years back. But I love how on Patreon I can just throw up my lost demos and the community there decides what path I go down next.
I definitely have not been on the heavy train much the past few years, but it was time to change that. The minute I came across this demo I knew it had to be another duet with the one and only Sarah Jezebel Deva and along the way the lovely and talented Mustis lended his piano talents (I’m still over the moon about that). I also couldn’t have done it without the super talented team that came on board.”

Helsinki’s longest serving gothic rock vampires THE 69 EYES are unstoppable at the moment and have returned with yet another new song “Gotta Rock” – the first to come off their upcoming, as-yet-untitled new full-length slated to drop in early 2023.
“Gotta Rock” lives up to its name. THE 69EYES version of the track initially premiered on Vain Elämää, the biggest Finnish TV primetime show, in which you could watch singer Jyrki 69 staying in a castle with seven other artists who performed each other’s songs during their time together. “Gotta Rock” is a cover from the famous Finnish hard rock band Boycott that released the rock anthem in the late ‘80s.
For this remake, THE 69 EYES received some famous help, as Jyrki 69 explains, “The Finnish classic rock band Boycott was one of our favorites in the ‘80s when we [started] THE 69 EYES. Due to the Finnish music TV program that I was recently featured in, we finally had a reason to make our own, more gothic rock sounding cover of Boycott’s ultimate classic smash hit ‘Gotta Rock.’ Die Krupps’ Jürgen Engler helped us to arrange it into this darkened mode!”

Heavy, cinematic gothic artist, THE EFFIGY has released a lyric video for their new single “One With My Enemy”. The single is also out today on all streaming platforms. Portraying a dark and profound narrative of emotional abuse, THEEFFIGY creates dynamic musical arrangements to convey the spiraling torment experienced by the track’s protagonist.
Influenced by the likes of GARBAGE, JOY DIVISION, EVANESCENCE, and KEANE, and thematically inspired by gothic and folk imagery, along with mythology, THEEFFIGY‘s music is a cinematic array of eclectic styles. Following their previous single “Cindersun”, which draws from Ancient Greek mythology, telling the tale of Icarus and the Sun who are framed as two lovers forever at odds, “One With My Enemy” exhibits another side to their music. Fusing delicate piano melodies, with heavy guitars and synths evoking a nod to the early noughties, a gothic through-line underpins the track. THEEFFIGY‘s vocals deliver both a soft intimate tone and powerful soaring lyrics that aptly reflect the intensifying mood of the song.
“One With My Enemy” once again showcases THEEFFIGY’s flair for catchy hooks and impressive compositions. The single conducts a compelling journey that gradually builds as the narrative progresses. Become enamored with THEEFFIGY’s striking sound.

After twelve studio albums and several #1 chart positions in Finland, THE69EYES have no plans of slowing down. The band recently announced a massive European Fall tour from October through December 2022 and are also working on a new full-length studio release that will see the light of day in early 2023. In the meantime, the Helsinki Vampires allow no rest for the wicked and have unleashed a brand new single: “Call Me Snake.” It’s a dark summer hit, mixing an ‘80s gothic vibe with hard rocking guitars. Imagine The Stooges meeting early Ministry and ‘90s horror movies, and a track that shines through its simplicity yet still offers crazy twists around every corner.
“It’s 1997 in John Carpenter’s Escape From New York sci-fi classic and Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken saves the world,” comments vocalist Jyrki69. “These are the thematic elements for ‘Call Me Snake’ and the world will be saved again!”

Hop into the passenger’s seat and let Helsinki’s longest serving gothic rock vampires THE69EYES take you on a wild ride through a sweltering Summer night in the city! With twelve albums under their belts and several number one chart positions in Finland, THE69EYES are back with a catchy new single — the first of several new tracks to be released in the coming months. Remaining true to their credo “Goth ‘n’ roll will never die!,” the band is currently in the studio recording their lucky thirteenth offering to be released in 2023. But fans need not wait any longer to hear new sounds from the crypt…
Comments guitarist Bazie of “Drive,” “The inspiration came from the same pool of music I have always liked, mostly from the ‘80s. I never plan anything; I just grab my guitar and see what comes up. We jammed a lot more as a band this time and came up with song ideas from all the guys. ‘Drive’ started from one little riff, which I had for a long time. It took a while, but it was worth it. It still sounds exiting and that was the goal.”
Adds singer Jyrki 69, “Bazie delivered this music and I was blown away by how fresh it felt again. It sounded like some rock radio stuff! Our songs are on daily rotation on the rock channels here in Finland, but they are the ones that we did fifteen years ago. So, I thought that we could have some fresh options now; let’s take the airwaves! ‘Drive’ is a traditional 69 EYES sounding, fast rocker with a Sunset Strip slap on it!”
“Drive” was directed by Vicente Cordero and is viewable at THIS LOCATION. Stream or download the single at THIS LOCATION.

DARK BEAUTY – There are a host of music genres that New Jersey’s Dark Beauty can be attributed to, from Symphonic Metal to Gothic, with Classical being the omnipotent glue that gives Dark Beauty their overall musicality. Dark Beauty released their new studio concept album, Fall From Grace, on August 19th, 2014. Lead vocalist (coloratura soprano), songwriter and band founder, Liz Tapia, has an alluring voice; even her shades of vocal darkness is mesmerizing.
As a songwriter, Liz Tapia can already rival that of Trans-Siberian Orchestra’sPaul O’Neill. Seriously. Greatness is not always mainstream or screaming from the pages of Rolling Stone and Dark Beauty’s musical greatness profoundly exists. Liz Tapia has assembled a consummate band of musicians with Dark Beauty, in my straight Metal opinion. I am absolutely thrilled that Dark Beauty has crossed my Metal path. Music is a powerful voice and universal language within our Universe; Dark Beauty easily reminds me of this.

It seems like Gothic Metal became the national music for Finland – and among the leading acts you’ll find TO/DIE/FOR.
TO/DIE/FOR was founded in the middle of the 90’s. They soon released some mini-albums on their own and their first album “All Eternity” followed in 1999, released through Spinefarm Records (Finland)/Nuclear Blast (Europe). Soon the band became well-known within the gothic scene, not at last because of the excellent cover version of the 80’s classic “In The Heat Of The Night” (originally by Sandra). A tour with in Flames and Sentenced followed and proved that TO/DIE/FOR is more than an overnight sensation.
When their second album “Epilogue” was released in 2001, the single “Hollow Heart” reached a top position at the Finnish single charts in advance. A tour with Lacrimosa followed, another successful step in the history of this outstanding Gothic Metal act.
After the band focused on the songwriting and took a small break, their third record “Jaded” was released in 2003. Once again a rocking Gothic Metal album, featuring those typical, melancholic and dark vocals of Jape Parätalo, which is one of the trademarks of the band. The fourth studio album “IV” (2005) followed and “Wounds Wide Open”, the fifth studio album, was released in October 2006. In autumn 2007 the band decided to take a break.
After many years of absence one of the pioneering Gothic Rock/Metal bands is back with their new album “Samsara”, which will be released in summer 2012!
