(LOS ANGELES, CA – August 4, 2015) – Joe Satriani’s 15th studio album, Shockwave Supernova, has earned the multi-Grammy nominated guitarist his highest U.S. chart position of his career! The album debuts today on the Billboard’s Top 200 Current Albums Chart at #19, the highest debut of his 30-year career, topping his former highest, 1992’s The Extremist, which hit #22 on its debut. In addition, the album also debuted at # 3 on the Billboard Rock Chart and ranks as the highest charting all-instrumental rock album on Billboard’s Top 200 in the soundscan era.

To celebrate, Satriani will be sitting in with The Roots on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, this evening. Tune in to NBC at 11:35/10:35c pm to watch the iconic guitarist trade licks with Capitan Kirk and the rest of the band.

In addition to the U.S. chart success, Satriani also had high debuts in Australia/New Zealand at #23 and in the UK where it entered the chart at #22,making this his highest UK chart position since the self-titled, ‘Joe Satriani’ in 1995, which reached #21.

For two decades, Satriani has traveled the world, playing to sold-out crowds as both a headliner and as founder of the all-star “G3” guitar extravaganza. His studio and live recordings have sold more than 10 million copies worldwide to date and of his many solo albums, two have gone platinum and four others went gold, with 15 Grammy nominations between them. His side project, Chickenfoot, featuring former Van Halen front man Sammy Hagar, former bassist Michael Anthony, and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith saw their debut album certified gold and their second studio album debuted at #9.

Joe Satriani will set off on the start of his “Shockwave World Tour 2015” on September 17th in France. The European leg will run through November 10th with the ending show in London. The U.S. portion of the tour is set to begin early in 2016 with an announcement expected next month. Joining Joe for the “Shockwave Tour” is Marco Minnemann (drums), Bryan Beller (bass) and Mike Keneally (keys & guitar).

On This Day In METAL History – August 4th… From BLACK SABBATH To MAX CAVALERA

On August 4th, 2013 – The astonishing IRON MAIDEN performed at The O2 Arena in London, England. This was a concert on the Maiden England Tour. Hail IRON MAIDEN!

On August 4th, 2015 – The second studio album, Paranoid, from the great BLACK SABBATH is ranked at #34, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. This incredible studio album was released back in 1970 and features such iconic songs as: Paranoid, Iron Man, War Pigs and Fairies Wear Boots.

On August 4th, 2015 – STRAY FROM THE PATH, (from Long Island, New York), have their forthcoming studio album Subliminal Criminals ranked at #90, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. This album will be released on August 14th, 2015. Whoa.

MAX CAVALERA

Max Cavalera was born on August 4th, 1969, in Brazil. Happy Metal Birthday, Max Cavalera! Freaking hell and yeah! Max Cavalera is a former member and co-founder of SEPULTURA; while being a founding and current member of SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY and KILLER BE KILLED. Back in 1994 – 1995, Max Cavalera founded, toured and released one studio album with his side project: NAILBOMB. In other Metal words, Max Cavalera is a Metal legend.

Max Cavalera is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and lyricist for every band he has put his Metal stamp on. Metal be thy name! Long live Max Cavalera!

On This Day In METAL History, August 3rd… From AC/DC To JAMES HETFIELD

On August 3rd, 1979 – The iconic AC/DC released their breakthrough studio album in the United States: Highway To Hell. Tragically, this would be the last studio album that the legendary (and late) Bon Scott would sing on. Robert John “Mutt” Lange was the producer for Highway To Hell. My favorite song on this album is: Touch Too Much. Oh, man, that song revs me up, like no tomorrow!

On August 3rd, 1986 – The mighty JUDAS PRIEST performed at the Toledo Sports Arena, in Toledo, Ohio, USA. Hail JUDAS PRIEST!

On August 3rd, 1987 – The great DEF LEPPARD released their fourth studio album: HYSTERIA. This album has sold 12 million (plus) copies in the United States. Sweet lord of mercy! Yes, this album features the hit single: Pour Some Sugar On Me.

On August 3rd, 2015 – FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH have their third studio album, American Capitalist, ranked at #29, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Great balls of fire! This kick-ass album was released back in 2011.

On August 3rd, 1963, James Hetfield was born in California, USA. Happy Metal Birthday, James Hetfield! Freaking hell and yeah! James Hetfield is galaxy-famous as a co-founder of the magnificent METALLICA. This Metal legend is also the lead singer, rhythm guitarist, co-songwriter and lyricist for METALLICA. ‘Nuff said! Long live James Hetfield!

UDO DIRKSCHNEIDER – Announces Plans For A Special Tour Performing (Only UDO Era) ACCEPT Songs In 2016

Farewell To Accept: Metal Icon, Udo Dirkschneider is planning a special tour in which he will perform Accept songs one last time before he closes the chapter for good. Wacken – At a press conference in the VIP tent of Wacken Open Air, legendary metal singer, Udo Dirkschneider dropped some bombshell news on all those in attendance: the 62-year-old cult musician announced his definitive farewell to the Accept song library. On a special tour beginning in 2016, he will perform songs by Accept one last time before he retires them for good. It will be a night of epic proportions.

During this Accept farewell tour, he will only showcase songs from the Udo era of the band. The German rock staple will close a huge chapter of music history forever. In the early 80´s, the Solingen-raised singer skyrocketed to worldwide acclaim with the band Accept and with his unmistakeable voice. He had several hits such as Balls To The Wall and Princess of the Dawn. Now he has announced that he will perform these much-loved hits on this special tour one more time before he removes them from the set list forever.

“I still love singing these songs live,“ Dirkschneider says. “The songs still are an important part of my catalog and still suit my voice very well. But at some point in your life, it´s just time to close the chapter. There has been so much talk and speculation about Accept, so I just want to give my last definitive musical statement about it and give my fans a chance to see me perform a complete concert of these songs one last time on stage.“

After this tour, Udo will only play songs from his extensive library of U.D.O. material. After being kicked out of Accept in the late 80´s, he garnered many classic hits with his new band in a long and successful career, such as Animal House, Timebomb, and Man and Machine. “There is enough high quality material to fill a two-hour set with no problem,“ says Dirkschneider. “U.D.O. has been the band where I belong for 18 years and I want to pay tribute to them from now on.“

The musician will NOT perform this farewell tour under the name U.D.O. but simply as Dirkschneider.

Joe Elliot also leads his band, Down ‘n’ Outz, a cover band of the great Mott The Hoople. Joe Elliot is also currently a member of the amazing All-Star band: Kings Of Chaos. Long live Joe Elliot!

On July 26th, 1976 – The flamboyant and legendary TED NUGENT received his first Gold album for his self-titled debut studio album released in 1975. This said album would go on to sell two million (plus) copies in the United States. Holy Girl Scout Cookies!

On July 26th, 1982 – The fabulous FOREIGNER had their hit single, Break It Up, ranked at #26, on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. Send it in!! This great song is featured on FOREIGNER’s studio album 4, from 1981.

On July 26th, 1992 – Legendary KISS guitarist, songwriter and lead singer Paul Stanley married model Pamela Bowen. Unfortunately, the pair would later divorce in March of 2001. Shown above: Paul Stanley’s first solo studio album from 1978.

On July 26th, 2013 – The super-duper great IRON MAIDEN performed at Inönü Stadyumu in Istanbul, Turkey. This was a date on the MAIDEN ENGLAND TOUR. Very special supporting acts were: ANTHRAX and VOODOO SIX. Whoa, man!

Gary Cherone was born on July 26th, 1961, in Massachusetts, USA. Happy Rockin’ Birthday, Gary Cherone! Whoa! Gary Cherone is a co-founding member of the grand Hard Rock band from Boston: EXTREME. Gary Cherone was also a lead singer for VAN HALEN, being the featured singer on Van Halen’s 1998 studio album: III. Gary also toured with Van Halen, in support of their eleventh album III.

Washington D.C. area Metal band A SOUND OF THUNDER has announced their new album “Tales from the Deadside” with a Kickstarter campaign that reached full funding in under 24 hours. The new album is a full-length concept album based on Valiant Entertainment’s SHADOWMAN comic book series.

The album was recorded at Assembly Line Studios with RIAA-platinum awarded producer Kevin ‘131’ Gutierrez (Shinedown, While Heaven Wept, Raven). The new release “Tales from the Deadside” is set for release on September 25th and will be available on CD, limited colored vinyl, and in a number of exclusive pre-order packages only on Kickstarter. The standard CD edition of “Tales from the Deadside” will feature all-new Shadowman cover artwork, while select backers of the Kickstarter campaign can obtain an exclusive cover featuring Shadowman’s arch-nemesis Master Darque. (see below):

“The story of Shadowman, his alter-ego Jack Boniface, and the many characters in his world inspired us to create what we believe is our best album to date,” said A Sound Of Thunder guitarist Josh Schwartz. “We let the story lead us to places our music has never been before, combining all the elements of supernatural horror, drama, action and adventure found in the comics. Of course everything has gone through our own unique Thunderous filter, and all the familiar ASOT elements will be there, Shadowman’s harrowing journey demanded no less!”

A Sound of Thunder was formed in Washington, DC in 2009. Their most recent album “The Lesser Key of Solomon” was released on September 9th, 2014 via Mad Neptune Records and debuted at #43 on the Billboard Heatseeker’s Albums chart.

On This Day In METAL History – July 23rd… From SLASH To AFTER THE BURIAL

On July 23rd, 2011 – The great DEF LEPPARD had their hit single. Pour Some Sugar On Me, ranked at #2, on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. Yup. Here’s something even better: DEF LEPPARD’s fourth studio album, Hysteria, was sitting at #1, on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart. This superb album went on to sell 20 million (plus) units worldwide. Whoa, man!

On July 23rd, 2011 – The exceptional IRON MAIDEN performed at Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England. This was a date on The Final Frontier Tour. Hail Maiden!

On July 23rd, 2015 – Minnesota’s AFTER THE BURIAL have their album, Wolves Within, ranked at #16, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Whiz-bang! This album was released back in the Winter of 2013.

On July 23rd, 2015 – AFTER THE BURIAL have their album, In Dreams, ranked at #46, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Whoa! This album was released back in 2010. AFTER THE BURIAL are currently touring on The Summer Slaughter Tour – North America.

On July 23rd, 1965, SLASH was born in the UK. Happy Birthday, SLASH! This legendary guitarist & Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer is universally famous for his career with Guns N’ Roses. After a hugely successful Europe run with SLASH, RAVENEYE are thrilled to announce the legendary rocker has extended his invitation for the UK band to rejoin him on his US tour, starting October 7th in Minneapolis before hitting Canada for several dates, and then onto U.S. cities including Seattle, Denver and Los Angeles.

Before the Slash dates begin, RAVENEYE will make their US debut at the Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville on October 3rd. At the conclusion of the SLASH dates, the UK trio will hit the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento on October 24th.

RAVENEYE are celebrating the release of their new single, “Breaking Out” while their self-titled debut EP has been riding high in the Amazon best sellers list. The UK rock trio has had a busy summer doing what they do best, touring relentlessly. They hit the road throughout June and July with the Blues Pills and as special guests of Slash – on an amazing run of dates across Europe. In addition, they have topped the rock chart for 3 weeks running at influential radio station RockFile Radio.

Even though he’s still only 25 year sold, Oli Brown, singer and multi award-winning guitarist, has already released four solo albums and toured the world for 10 years with legends such as Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter and Joe Satriani. Mojo Magazine hailed Oli as; ‘the hottest young pistol in British blues’ – Classic Rock Magazine described him as “one of the best and brightest guitar heroes performing in the world today”. He recorded the 5 tracks on “Breaking Out” late last year, before teaming up with drummer Kev Hickman and bassist Aaron Spiers and to take the songs out live – et voilà – RavenEye was born.

Filled with deep, bluesy grooves which invoke giants such as Zeppelin and Soundgarden the band (who only formed a year ago) are winning fans around the world with their huge sound and killer live shows.

AC/DC is ready to rock stadiums this summer. The ‪Rock Or Bust North America Tour rolls into Gillette Stadium – home of the ‪‎New England Patriots – on August 22nd and concludes five weeks later at ‪‎Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

After the release of ‘High Voltage’ in the summer of 1976, AC/DC headlined London’s legendary Marquee Club seven times between June and August.

In England, ‘Back In Black’ sold 10,000 copies a day in its first week of release.

AC/DC have headlined the Monsters Of Rock Festival more than anyone else: four times in 1981, 1984, 1991 and 2010.

The 1982 tour for ‘For Those About To Rock We Salute You’ was one of AC/DC’s biggest and the first to feature their signature firing cannons on stage.

The five-leg, year-long Razors Edge World Tour was one of AC/DC’s most successful, becoming one of the highest-grossing tours of 1991.

In 1992, AC/DC released ‘AC/DC Live’ – their first live album recorded with vocalist Brian Johnson.

On July 21st, 1987 – Guns N’ Roses released their groundbreaking debut album: Appetite For Destruction. This album would later spend five weeks on top of the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, eventually being certified eighteen times Platinum in September of 2008. Jumpin’ jelly beans!

On July 21st, 1990 – The magnificent Mötley Crüe had their hit song Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away) ranked at #19, on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. This song is featured on Mötley Crües’s fifth studio album from 1989: Dr. Feelgood.

On July 21st, 2011 – The powerful IRON MAIDEN performed at the Aberdeen Exhibition Centre, in Aberdeen, Scotland. This was IRON MAIDEN’s The Final Frontier World Tour. Holy smoke!

On July 21st, 2015 – The new album, Inhuman, from Tennessee’s ARTIFAS is ranked at #92, on the U.S. iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Whoa.

On July 21st, 2015 – The new KISS movie, Scooby-Doo and KISS: Rock and Roll Mystery released on Blu-ray™ combo pack, DVD and Digital HD. Now that’s ruff-rastic!

Acid King released their first album in a decade, Middle of Nowhere, Center of Everywhere, in April. Outburn Magazine awarded the album a perfect 10, saying the new songs are “six of the most haunting, memorable stoner rock tunes in some time.” Decibel, who called the record a “superlative cosmic pile driver,” and dubbed the trio “pioneers of the whole stoner metal sound.”

Tickets for this tour are on-sale this Friday.
