Slovenia’s legendary NOCTIFERIA are currently busy in the studio finishing recording their new album “Reforma – Tribute to LAIBACH”! Today the band announces the third guest on the album, THE TRUE MAYHEM‘s Csihar Attila. Read below the announcement:

“We are beyond honoured to let you know that legendary voice of black metal, The True Mayhem’s Csihar Attila joined Official David Vincent and Jørgen Munkeby on our Reforma project. Attila recorded main vocals for track ‘Tanz mit Laibach’ and it sounds extremely sacrilegious! It was an honour and dream come true for us to work with these three exceptional artists who exceeded our expectations in every way and did an amazing and professional job! Thank you all! More soon!”

As previously announced, NOCTIFERIA revealed two guests on “Reforma – Tribute to LAIBACH” album, being VLTIMAS‘ David Vincent (ex Morbid Angel) and (Norway’s) SHINING sax player Jørgen Munkeby!

CANNIBAL CORPSE – To Kick Off Decibel Magazine Tour With Morbid Angel Later This Month

In less than two weeks, CANNIBAL CORPSE will join Morbid Angel for a co-headlining run on this year’s edition of the Decibel Magazine Tour. A once-in-a-lifetime bill, the trek finds the two legendary death metal units sharing the stage for the first time ever in America. Support will be provided by rising Bay Area brutalizers Necrot and space-obsessed Denver death dealers Blood Incantation. The full tour runs from February 17th through March 14th. CANNIBAL CORPSE will exit the tour following the New York City date on March 7th. Immolation will join the caravan in its final week serving as main support to Morbid Angel.

As previously announced, Erik Rutan will fill in for guitarist Pat O’Brien on all upcoming CANNIBAL CORPSE dates as O’Brien tends to personal issues. Rutan has produced four albums with CANNIBAL CORPSE (Kill, Evisceration Plague, Torture, Red Before Black) and is uniquely equipped to fill the role – he is one of the death metal’s most acclaimed guitarists and is known for his time as part of Morbid Angel throughout the ’90s and early 2000s, as well as handling vocals/guitars and production duties for his current band Hate Eternal.

Long running Minnesota Death/Doom band COLD COLOURS celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2019 with the February 22 release of fifth full-length album Northernmost. In recognition of the winter solstice, the album’s first blast of freezing wind comes in the form of a lyric video for new track “Terminal Winter.”

Vocalist/guitarist Brian J. Huebner had this to say about the band’s milestone:

“If 20 years has taught me anything, it’s that you have to believe in what you are doing. No matter how many roadblocks you hit over two decades. On October 11th, 1986 – IRON MAIDEN performed at The Apollo Theatre in Manchester, UK. This was the Somewhere On Tour; in support of the Somewhere In Time album.

On October 11th, 1990 – IRON MAIDEN played at the Assembly Rooms in Derby, UK. This was a stop on the No Prayer On The Road Tour, in support of their studio album: No Prayer For The Dying.

Vancouver’s BAPTISTS announce their third full-length album, Beacon Of Faith, now confirmed for release through Southern Lord on May 25th. The album’s brooding “Capsule” has been made available for streaming.

Beacon Of Faith broadly follows the same trajectory as the album’s predecessors, Bushcraft (2013) and Bloodmines (2014) – combining the style of raw adrenaline-fueled emotion, venomous vocal delivery, gigantic guitar sound, and a visceral rhythmic propulsion – a sonic manifestation of desolate rage, bolstered by a palpable sense of urgency. The album is densely packed, yet BAPTISTS‘ sound is far from claustrophobic. There is melody amongst the dissonance, as the band more deeply explore the noise rock vistas that have always underpinned their sound.

Lyrics are drawn from the members’ direct experience of a broken society and general discontentment with everyday life. A multitude of issues are in the firing line, from the Canadian court system, issues surrounding substance abuse, mental health, and how the more fortunate, “tend to dismiss people who have been dealt a less-fortunate hand,” as guitarist Danny also reflects.

Beacon Of Faith was recorded at Godcity in Salem, Massachusetts with Kurt Ballou in July 2017, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege in Portland, Oregon.

Slated to commence on April 16th and run through May 17th, the month-long journey includes a headlining set at the New England Metal & Hardcore Fest. Direct support will be provided by Misery Index from April 16th to April 25th and Origin from April 26th through the tour’s conclusion. MORBID ANGEL will be touring in support of their critically lauded studio album, Kingdoms Disdained, released in December via Silver Lining Music. Kingdoms Disdained reunites founding guitarist Trey Azagthoth with bassist/vocalist Steve Tucker. Captured at Mana Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida and produced by MORBID ANGEL with Erik Rutan, the record delivers eleven pieces of devastatingly dynamic death metal. Southern California-based Metal/Hardcore outfit TWITCHING TONGUES will take to the streets again this March on tour with Hatebreed, Crowbar, and The Acacia Strain. TWITCHING TONGUES will be touring in support of their forthcoming new full-length Gaining Purpose Through Passionate Hatred, set for release March 9th via Metal Blade Records. The title for TWITCHING TONGUES‘ fourth full-length is drawn from a quote by famed social philosopher Eric Hoffer – “Passionate hatred can give meaning and purpose to an empty life.” Gaining Purpose Through Passionate Hatred reflects the band’s mentality in approaching the record: paying homage to those who supported them while belligerently responding to their detractors.

With “failure” as a core theme driving Colin Young’s lyrics, it also features his first foray into the political arena, motivated by the contemporary political climate. Directly inspired by film scores, the record has a strong epic feel, the band realizing their vision of having the music flow like a story being told. While still maintaining the same levels of aggression that have traditionally characterized previous offerings, Gaining Purpose Through Passionate Hatred features more immediate and memorable melodies that evoke the sound of 2013’s In Love There Is No Law.

Dark/Atmospheric Metallers AFFASIA Releasing Debut EP February 23rd On Transcending Records

Richmond (VA) – Richmond, VA Dark/Atmospheric Metal group AFFASIA will release debut EP Adrift in Remorse February 23 on Transcending Records. Fusing elements from their diverse influences, AFFASIA play guitar-driven dark, melodic metal with elements of Doom, Death, Darkwave, Shoegaze, atmospheric, and even classical music.

In addition to playing drums on the forthcoming album, Tony Petrocelly of In Trapan Studios (Guitarist/songwriter/producer of Construct of Lethe, guitarist of Grethor and drummer of Lord) recorded, mixed and mastered Adrift In Remorse.

AFFASIA was created as a collaboration between founders Jason Jennings (Guitarist/Composer) and David Waltenbaugh (Guitarist/Composer/Producer in 2012. In 2013 the duo started searching for other members to complete the lineup. Noah Cabitto (Vocalist/Writer/Composer) joined and assisted with writing, lyrics and naming the project. Joshua Sheffield (Percussionist/Writer) joined shortly along with Nick Lucente (Bass Guitar) .

David and Nick resigned as active members in late 2014, although their contributions in writing the material had a big impact. In early 2015 Noah Jones (Bass) and Michael Potts (Guitar) were live members. In early summer of 2015 William Carter (Bass guitarist, formerly of Withersoul and Cremains) joined as bassist and Jaden Deesvanburick (Guitarist) joined resolidifying the lineup.

William and Jaden parted with AFFASIA in late 2016. Nick Lucente rejoined in early 2017. Unfortunately once AFFASIA had restarted recording in earnest Joshua had to respectfully resign as the full-time drummer. He was always the band’s guiding light and positively a sheer creative force that the group was proud to have and hope to work with again.
