DECIBEL - Magazine -

Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival Tour Currently Underway

_________________________________

In conjunction with their slot on this year’s edition of the Rockster Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, Swedish melodic death metal legion, AMON AMARTH, graces the cover of the August 2013 issue of Decibel Magazine!

Conducted by J. Bennett in Stockholm, Sweden, the intimate feature follows the band through their early days and escalating success, tour life, and the creation of their most compelling record to date: Deceiver of the GodsA must-read for any AMON AMARTH disciple.

The issue is on sale NOW. Purchase your copy at: http://store.decibelmagazine.com/collections/back-issues/products/august-2013-106

The recently unleashed Deceiver of the Gods was released in North America via Metal Blade Records on June 25, recorded at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, UK, produced, mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap (Killswitch Engage, Megadeth, Opeth) and broke the band’s previous sales records around the world! The band is now in their second week on the Billboard Top 200 in the U.S. (week one: #19 and week 2: #59) and third week on the Top 100 Charts in Germany (week one: #3, week two: #13, and week three:  #23)

Amon Amarth - Deceiver Of The Gods - promo cover pic!

Literally invading U.S. shores, AMON AMARTH’s main stage slot on the http://www.rockstarmayhemfest.com, currently underway, the band’s mammoth stage production, including a Viking Longboat and the amassing armies in the war between Odin and Loki, has lit up the internet with excitement for the band’s set.

Said Metalassault.com, “the stunning stage production was what really made this AMON AMARTH show stand out from their own past shows, and indeed from all other bands that played this festival.” Agreed Mxdwn.com “Perhaps the day’s best set came next at the main stage. Swedish Viking rockers AMON AMARTH delivered the best tenets of Scandinavian death metal. Fronting a massive mural of their new album Deceiver of the Gods… the band also proudly displayed a full-scale Viking battle barge as the centerpiece of their set design. Their drummer Fredrik Andersson was perched atop semi-hidden by the ship’s bow. The group’s equally large lead singer Johan Hegg bounded from one side of the stage to the other bellowing in his demonic howl. The title track from their new album and ‘Death in Fire’ were both great, but it was ‘Twlight of the Thunder God’ that packed the most punch and fury.”

AMON AMARTH is currently putting the finishing touches on the official video for colossal track Father Of The Wolf. The video will be unveiled in the coming weeks. Until then, check out the trailer now playing at the band’s microsite: http://deceiver.amonamarth.com.

“No one delivers big, punch-in-the-face motifs better than AMON AMARTH, and the Swedish melodic-death-metal titans have excelled themselves on their ninth studio album… Not only does Johan Hegg deliver his fiercest growls ever, but he also duets mesmerizingly with operatic ex-Candlemass frontman Messiah Marcolin on ‘Hel.’” – Revolver

East Coast Tour Underway; Euro Tour Next Week

_________________________________

FULL OF HELL – Following several massive tours of the country already completed this year, including a recent trek alongside Integrity followed by a tour of half of the US with Seven Sisters of Sleep, today FULL OF HELL takes back to the streets on an East Coast run of dates in preparation for their European tour next week, in support of their second LP, Rudiments Of Mutilation.

The new action kicked off July 15th in Providence, Rhode Island, and now blasts through Pennsylvania for three dates followed by two shows in Virginia before closing out in Washington DC on the 21st, alongside  Loma Prieta and Fucking Invincible. Just three days later FULL OF HELL’s seventeen-city assault with Circle Takes the Square and Code Orange Kids begins. And, following the Euro tour, the band will also take part in label home A389 Recordings’ first Summer Extermination fest in Baltimore alongside Municipal Waste, Ringworm, Power Trip, Noisem and Impalers, which is to be followed by yet another crushing East Coast tour as the FOH hate machine keeps churning.

FULL OF HELL has decided to give away Rudiments Of Mutilation digitally for this week only! From today through next Monday, July 22nd fans can download the entire album via the A389 label Bandcamp. DO IT NOW; DO IT RIGHT HERE.

Critical Praise:

“Full of Hell want to open wounds however they can. The four-piece is so focused on delivering bile-soaked fury that they’ll use nearly anything at their disposal. While most of the tracks are acrid flashes of grind and powerviolence, there are still treks through squeamish noise and torturous hardcore. Seems like there’s always new releases by these guys, but this is the best I’ve heard so far.” – Decibel

“…Rudiments of Mutilation is an incredible album that should not go unheard. It is sick, unnerving, excellently established, moody, violent, and one of the best damn records that will be put out this year. You want dark? Here it is motherfuckers. Eat it up. 9.5/10” – Metal Injection

6th Studio Album From These Chicago Death Metal Warriors Promises To Be A Killer!

_________________________________

BROKEN HOPE has revealed the title of their 6th studio release as Omen of Disease. The album title, created by chief-lyricist, Jeremy Wagner, is also an actual album track, which marks the first official BROKEN HOPE “title track” since their 1991 debut album, Swamped in Gore.

Jeremy Wagner comments about this upcoming release:

“Some time ago, a festering Death Metal prophecy indicated something sick and brutal was coming back from the dead. The malignant signs became evident when BROKEN HOPE first resurrected from the grave and then went on tour. A more sinister foreboding followed when BROKEN HOPE wrote a new death metal album for the world to hear. Today, I’m a harbinger, here to alert everyone of a ‘Death Metal omen’ that is upon us…I speak of the new BROKEN HOPE album, ‘Omen of Disease.’ The album title itself reeks of a musical offering that is nothing short of gruesome. ‘Omen of Disease’ will be released to infect everyone worldwide this summer. I promise: this death metal album is a most savage, feral, pestilential, and lethal creation. You’ve been warned…” – Jeremy Wagner

Omen of Disease is slated for a worldwide release this year, via Century Media Records. Stay tuned for more details about this new BROKEN HOPE album coming soon!

Sinister Realm - World Of Evil - promo cover pic

World of Evil, the upcoming third release from Pennsylvania traditional metal band SINISTER REALM is now streaming in its entirety at this location:

http://shadowkingdomrecords.bandcamp.com/album/world-of-evil

After two amazing classically styled heavy metal albums that were each greeted with widespread critical acclaim, Allentown, PA trad-metallers are back with World of Evil. The band’s third full-length album shows no sign of weakness where songwriting and energy are concerned. This is fist pumping heavy metal with big catchy choruses, doomy at times, and all around quality and memorable heavy metal album. Fans of Dio, Heaven and Hell, Candlemass, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden will absolutely love this album.

World of Evil will be available worldwide August 6th through Shadow Kingdom Records.

Channeling the spirit of early 80’s Metal icons like Dio, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, with an added epic Doom Metal influence from Candlemass, Allentown, Pennsylvania-based Sinister Realm was formed in 2008 by John Gaffney (former Pale Divine) and Darin McCloskey (Pale Divine, Falcon). They quickly found vocalist Alex Kristof and recorded a four song demo that drew the attention of various independent labels. After signing with Shadow Kingdom Records a live band was assembled and a full-length album was released in August of 2009.

Sinister Realm - band promo pic - logo - banner - 2013 - #1

Press from around the world hailed the debut album a success and Sinister Realm began actively playing live to support the album. Not long after the album’s release Chris Metzger and John Risko joined the band and work began on the sophomore album titled The Crystal Eye. In the summer of 2013, Sinister Realm will release World of Evil through Shadow Kingdom Records. All hail Sinister Realm! The true defenders of American Steel.

RUNNING WILD – New album “RESILIENT” Scheduled For Release In October 2013

Rock 'n' Rolf - promo pic - 2013 - #1 - Running Wild

Rock ‘n’ Rolf Kasparek

Now things are really moving: while Captain Rock ‘n’ Rolf Kasparek is working full throttle on the final details of his latest Running Wild album, Steamhammer/SPV have already announced the official release date: Resilient will be out on 4 October 2013 in Germany and on 7 October 2013 in the rest of Europe. The exact date of the US release will be revealed soon, but the album has definitely been scheduled for release in America this October.

“I really love working at the moment and am currently getting down to business on the overdubs. I can hardly wait to present the new material to the many Running Wild fans worldwide,” says Rock ’n’ Rolf.

His followers can look forward to a total of twelve brand-new numbers, ten of which will feature on the regular CD, and twelve on the limited edition. The album’s opener will be called ‘Soldiers Of Fortune’, and the title track, ‘The Drift’ and ‘Run Riot’ will be three typical Running Wild numbers. The most outstanding song on the album, however, will be called ‘Bloody Island’, with almost ten minutes playing time one of the longest tracks in Running Wild’s career to date. Rolf: “As a composer, it’s of course difficult for me to pigeonhole the new material stylistically, but friends who have heard the demo version of ‘Bloody Island’ claim that it would have fitted in on Pile Of Skulls.”

Rolf explains that Resilient is audibly tougher and more compact than its predecessor Shadowmaker, clearly enjoying his revived zest: “Shadowmaker happened to come about slightly unexpectedly and spontaneously, even for me. The album has brought back the fun I used to have with Running Wild, and my fans will get to feel this fun when Resilient comes out in October!”

SPV / Steamhammer Signs A Worldwide Deal With NWOBHM Cult Act BATTLEAXE

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal bands, heavy metal news, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on July 12, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

Battleaxe - large classic logo - B&W

SPV / Steamhammer signs a worldwide deal with NWoBHM cult act BATTLEAXE. It is not only for a new studio album called “Heavy Metal Sanctuary” which is due in early 2014, it also include the deluxe re-releases of the classic metal albums “Burn This Town” (out in October 2013) and “Power From The Universe” (out late summer 2014) with new covers, extended booklets and lots of bonus material.

The current line-up consists of the original members Dave King (vocals) and Brian Smith (bass) as well as Mick Percy (guitar) and Paul Atkinson (drums).

Dave King and Brian Smith say about the signing: “We think speaking for the whole band that we are all elated to be joining the SPV family. A label with great worldwide distribution and also featuring some of our favourite bands. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to re-release our old classic albums again as well as introduce our fans to our new more powerful sound. After a long and hard struggle we have finally managed to complete our new album Heavy Metal Sanctuary which we know will delight our fans worldwide. We do not think it will disappoint in either the songs or the production, and we feel that although it sounds modern and 21st century, it is still classic Battleaxe! We thank all our loyal fans all over the world who encouraged us to reform (indeed some even demanded it), even though some of you were not even born when the original albums were first released. Now because of this new deal, we will be able to see many of you in 2014 on the European festival scene and possibly around the world. Finally of course many, many thanks to Olly Hahn and all the staff at SPV for making this dream come true! ”

Battleaxe - large classic logo - B&W

SPV/Steamhammer A&R Olly Hahn ads: “Sometimes you have to do something….and I did. As a child of the NWoBHM due to the lack of information’s you had to buy by the cover. In some cases the covers were good but the music average, in other cases the covers were not really good but the music was killer. This happened to me when I bought “Burn This Town”. The whole album, as well as the second one “Power From The Universe”, are classics for me and I know for many metal fans too. And I heard the new songs which are really strong and will surprise a lot of people. Yes, the band is ready to deliver…so are we!”

CATTLE DECAPITATION To Release “Your Disposal” 7″ Single

Cattle Decaptiation - Your Disposal - promo cover pic

Band Prepares To Level Stages At Summer Slaughter

___________________________________

CATTLE DECAPITATION will be releasing a 7″ single this summer! Your Disposal features the B-side, An Exposition of Insides, which was previously available only as a Japanese bonus track on the band’s most recent album, Monolith of Inhumanity. The single is available (both black and clear vinyl) for order on-line on indiemerchstore.com for $5.50, as well as in a bundle with a t-shirt for $18.99. Pick up your copy of the single HERE, and check out the t-shirt bundle HERE. Fans attending this year’s The Summer Slaughter Tour can grab their copy at the band’s merch booth throughout the tour.

Vocalist Travis Ryan comments: “We noticed a lot of people were dismayed to find out there was a track available out there on a Japanese version of Monolith of Inhumanity that nobody outside of Japan had ever heard before. When it hit YouTube, that’s when we started getting emails from fans. We noticed the lyrics weren’t inside that version or available anywhere at all so that gave us the idea of throwing it on a B-side and releasing a 7″ vinyl single for “Your Disposal” with the song “An Exposition of Insides!” We feel that Monolith is the mother of all of our releases so far and I thought it’d be funny to make it look like she just squirted out a baby and that’s what this little guy looks like. Just in time for Summer Slaughter!”

Cattle Decapitation - Your Disposal - vinyl promo pic - #2

It features such heavyweights as The Dillinger Escape Plan, Animals As Leaders, Periphery, Norma Jean, Cattle Decapitation, The Ocean, Revocation, Aeon and more. See dates below:

ULCERATE – Innovative New Zealand Death Trio Preps Fourth LP For Deployment

Ulcertate - Vermis - promo cover pic

Boasting an original, inventively dread-inspiring style of audio torture, Auckland, New Zealand-based Death Metal trio ULCERATE has completed the final stages of preparation for the pending release of their fourth horrific masterpiece, and first for Relapse Records.

Since their 2009 debut on Neurotic and two subsequent LPs through Willowtip, ULCERATE has strived to continually hone and contort their Death Metal attack, their sound ever-evolving into harsh new realms of turmoil, melding mechanical and organic elements into their haunting, blast-strewn explosiveness. A forward-thinking Death Metal style citing Hate Eternal, Gorguts and Immolation collides head-on into more dissonant and blackened infiltrations of Deathspell Omega or Portal, forming a monolithic anti-harmonic atrocity.

After signing ULCERATE last year, new label Relapse unveils the info on the band’s newest works as the album nears release late this Summer. After a year of writing and planning, the creation of the record came to fruition in March of this year when the band entered hometown MCA Studios. The nine passages harnessed during these sessions culminates into a nearly fifty-five minute document of the outfit’s most tumultuous craftsmanship yet, entitled Vermis.

In addition to the title and street dates, today a new visual trailer along with the cover art for Vermis and more has been released. Check it all out now AT THIS LOCATION.

Additional propaganda, hymns and more on Vermis will be announced in the coming weeks in addition to new ULCERATE tour actions for 2013.

OBITUARY – Death Metal Icons Announce Virtual Tour + Live Chat With Fans

Obituary - Classic Band Logo - 2013 - #4

Now celebrating the 25th anniversary of their landmark Slowly We Rot full-length, Tampa Death Metal icons, OBITUARY, have been perpetually busy finding new methods of ways to bring fans closer to their audio carnage through worldwide concert streams and all-access backstage giveaways.

Most recently, the band offered up a Pay Per View, professionally shot live stream of their homecoming performance at The Orpheum which featured a pummeling all classics setlist from their first three platters of brutality: 1989’s Slowly We Rot 1990’s Cause of Death and 1992’s The End Complete.

This week the band continues to spread their timeless audio devastation with an On Demand, regionally based, virtual tour and live chat with fans. The PPV live stream from the aforementioned Florida show will be presented in full HD quality from multiple camera angles to specific regions and OBITUARY will be in live chat mode for the duration of each show! The show will remain On Demand to fans who initially purchase the stream to watch as many times as they wish.

Said the band in a collective statement: “We couldn’t be more excited about watching this stream with our fans! We have performed this classic set list on every corner of the planet, so for us to have the chance to watch it live and chat about it with the fans we’ve been playing for all these years is amazing. We are celebrating 25 years since the release of Slowly We Rot and we want you to party with us!

TO THE PAIN – BIO:

In the summer of 2010, singer John Intagliata, and guitarist Steve Shaver sat down in Steve’s studio, The Locker, to see if they could record some songs they wrote when they were teenagers in 1989. After recording one of their old tunes, they got the itch to write some new music. What followed was nine months of writing, and recording at “The Locker”. Steve and John wrote 6 new songs, and re-recorded an old song; ‘Silent Horror.’ After listening to playbacks of the songs, they looked at each other and said “we need to put together a kick-ass band, and bring these songs to the masses.” Thus the concept of TO THE PAIN was born.

Their original concept back in 1988 was a cross between Racer X, Megadeth, Metallica, King Diamond, and Queensryche. The newer version retained the Racer X crazy guitar solos, and the political angst of Megadeth, while adding a bit of the new school flavor of Bullet for My Valentine, Shadows Fall, and Killswitch Engage, to form a new and refreshing old school flavor of Metal. Joining John Intagliata (Vocals) and Steve Shaver (Lead Guitar) in TO THE PAIN are Jeremy Lustig (Bass Guitar), Mark Trojanoski (Rhythm Guitar), and Jimmy Klimatas (Drums).

To The Pain - band promo pic - 2013 - #1

TO THE PAIN’s self-titled debut is a lyrically diverse excursion. Taking on anything from politics, to the evil that men do, TO THE PAIN is not one to ever hold its tongue on any subject. Stylistically, the band’s music goes from full on thrashers like ‘For The People, Buy The People,’ to slow Sabbathy brutality on ‘The Smell of Sulfur.’

In 2012/2013 TO THE PAIN started with a slew of shows, bringing their energetic live show to such venues as EvenFlow Bar, JD’s Place, Village Pub,Katies of Smithtown and Mr Beery’s. With the scheduled summer 2013 release of their debut, TO THE PAIN hopes to bring the metal to the masses and continue to build on their following.

Recently, after months of searching and reviewing literally hundreds of applicants from around the world, PENTAGRAM announced the addition of their new guitarist Matt Goldborough.
