DORO – MILLE PETROZZA, HANSI KÜRSCH AND UDO DIRKSCHNEIDER ROCKING OUT WITH THE METAL QUEEN IN 2014

When Rock legend DORO celebrates her big anniversaries, she will traditionally welcome several true heroes of the Rock and Metal scene. The SCORPIONS, MOTÖRHEAD or SAXON, all of them have been on stage with DORO in front of thousands of fans.

And this will also be the case for her 30-years stage anniversary. DORO will be playing two shows on May 02 and May 03, 2014 at CCD-Stadthalle, where her fans can look forward to seeing many superstars.

Hansi Kürsch of BLIND GUARDIAN has already confirmed his appearance. As of today it is also confirmed that Miland “Mille” Petrozza of KREATOR and Udo Dirkschneider, the former ACCEPT shouter, will come to Düsseldorf to celebrate DORO’s anniversary together with her.

Udo on this: “Of course! For DORO I will always be up front. Actually I was planning on being part of her show in Wacken this summer, but I could not make that date.” Thus there will be a return visit on May 02 and May 03, 2014 – as DORO has been sharing stages with Dirkschneider and his band U.D.O. at their stage anniversary in 2012.

“I have the most awesome friends and colleagues,” DORO bursts out about the Teutonic trio. With this, the guest list for the celebratory events won’t be closed.

DORO fans that can hardly wait till May 2014 have the chance to see the Metal queen this very year. The DORO Christmas tour starts on December 14, 2013 and will feature the following dates:

STONEBURNER – Portland Sludge Metallers Join The Neurot Recordings Family

The Neurot Recordings family is pleased to welcome the audio devastation that is Portland’s STONEBURNER to their expanding roster of forward-thinking music.

Featuring four members with a compelling musical ancestry that winds through Buried At Sea, Buried Blood, Heathen Shrine and more, STONEBURNER – named after a subterranean weapon from the novel Dune — spews forth a groin-churning orchestration of crust-strewn, hypnotic, sludge metal, their torrid odes glazed with pain and distress. The band will unleash the follow-up to their 2012 debut full-length, Sickness Will Pass, which The Sludgelord fittingly crowned, “an ugly, visceral and truly terrifying beast of an album,” via Neurot Recordings this Spring. Titled Life Drawing, the offering promises to take their sonic crush to entirely new levels of heaviness.

Notes the STONEBURNER collective on their union with Neurot: “We’ve been working on the material for this album for a long time now and couldn’t feel better about how it’s come together. MARTY FRIEDMAN – Legendary Guitarist’s New Studio Album Set For Spring Release

(Los Angeles, CA) Perhaps the most revered lead guitarist in thrash metal history, MARTY FRIEDMAN– whose groundbreaking work with Megadeth, Cacophony and as a solo artist has influenced legions of players around the globe — is currently putting the finishing touches on a new studio album, “Inferno.”

Tentatively set for a spring release, the album — FRIEDMAN’s first original material in four years, and his first album in more than a decade that will be released simultaneously worldwide — will feature what FRIEDMAN feels is the heaviest, most intense playing of his career. A one-minute teaser can be heard below:

“I’m extremely proud of the work I’ve done with Cacophony and Megadeth, but I was never interested in stopping there,” FRIEDMAN says. “‘Inferno’ is the album that fans of my work with those two bands have always wanted me to make. I’ve finally made it, and completely on my own maniacal terms.”

As Guitar World recently revealed in an exclusive in-studio feature, “Inferno” will include several collaborations with players influenced by FRIEDMAN, including Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom), Revocation guitar whiz David Davidson and the flamenco/metal acoustic duo Rodrigo y Gabriela. In addition, the album includes FRIEDMAN’s first songwriting collaboration with Jason Becker since the pair played together in the pioneering duo of guitar mayhem, Cacophony.

“On the guests’ songs, each would write a song from scratch, and then I would arrange it and add my parts to it,” FRIEDMAN says. “That way, we were both invested in it, and it’s a little bit of a deeper experience than just banging out a guest solo.”

Make no mistake, though — “Inferno” is unquestionably a MARTY FRIEDMAN album, and one he plans to tour behind extensively (including his first U.S. performances since 2003). Furthermore, it features what FRIEDMAN told Guitar World is “the most intense writing and playing I can do,” with the goal of “go(ing) completely ape-shit and smok(ing) everything else I’ve ever done.”

“I wanted to create a new landmark to which my future music will be compared,” FRIEDMAN elaborates further. “That idea of just going completely balls-out — knowing what the full potential of my music and my playing could possibly be, and actually making it a reality — was what drove me through the whole process.”

Just as he changed the game in the worlds of metal and guitar once before with his revered solo debut “Dragon’s Kiss,” FRIEDMAN now raises the bar to a new level for a new generation with “Inferno.” More information on the album will be revealed in the coming weeks.

A living reference for all fans of American Heavy Metal, STEEL PROPHET needs no introduction to the metal world. With a long history, the band is particularly known for the technical and versatile guitar work of founding member Steve Kachinsky Blakmoor. Let’s not forget the soaring vocals of Rick Mythiasin, who has returned to sing with the band for the first time since 2002’s Unseen.

Omniscient is a conceptual, sci-fi themed album, textured with a heavy dose of unusual philosophies and ideas that will appeal to fans of early STEEL PROPHET material, especially the Dark Hallucinations era. ANETTE OLZON – Former Nightwish Frontwoman To Release First Solo Album Next Year, Via Armoury Records

It is with great pleasure that Armoury Records, in conjunction with earMUSIC, welcomes ANETTE OLZON to their expanding roster of powerful frontwomen.

Best known for her time fronting symphonic metal brigade Nightwish for five years before fleeing the band in 2012, the Swedish born songstress has established herself as a true apex among female rock singers globally and will continue the trend with her forthcoming solo release entitled Shine. Produced by Stefan Örn and Johan Glössner, co-produced by OLZON alongside Johan Kronlund and mixed by Kronlund, Nicklas Flykt and Ronny Lahti (known for his work with Loreen and Roxette), Shine is a logical next step in OLZON’s flourishing musical journey.

“I am so thrilled to finally release my first solo album,” comments OLZON. “I’ve been working on it for a long time. The album is very personal with songs I’ve been writing since 2009 but there are also very recent songs. The overall message of the album is that life can be really dark and filled with hardship and sadness, but you can always choose to see some light coming through, to make you stronger and full of life, making you shine… no matter what.”

Indeed, Shine crosses the borders between melancholy and hope; fragility and power. It showcases an artist who refuses to rest on her proverbial laurels but heads boldly into the future.

EMBLAZONED – Wisconsin Blackened Death Metal Machine Enters Studio

Wisconsin Blackened Death Metal machine EMBLAZONED has returned to Belle City Sound in Racine, Wisc., to record the band’s as-of-yet untitled full-length album. The album will be the follow-up to the critically acclaimed EP, The Living Magisterium, which was released September 3 via Deepsend Records.

Tracking for the album is almost complete, with mixing and mastering getting underway next month. Production duties are being handled by Chris Wisco (Jungle Rot, Gorgasm, Nachtmystium, Broken Hope). Fans of the EP will not be disappointed in what is shaping up to be the bands most intense offering to date. No official release date had been set yet.

KORN – Headlining Hell & Heaven Metal Fest, On March 15th, 2014, In Mexico City!

KORN – The iconic KORN will be headlining the HELL & HEAVEN METAL FEST 2014, on March 15th, in Mexico City, Mexico! KORN’s newest studio album and 11th overall, The Paradigm Shift, was released this past October 8th via Prospect Park. KORN have once again rallied their fans and stumped their critics, both with their melodically heavy and thoroughly convincing new release; coupled by the reunion with co-founding member/guitarist Brian “Head” Welch.

NEW ENGLAND METAL & HARDCORE FESTIVAL – First Wave Of Bands For 2014 Installment Posted

Worcester, Massachusetts-based concert promotions company, MassConcerts, is proud to, once again, host the annual NEW ENGLAND METAL & HARDCORE FESTIVAL in April 2014.

Slated for April 17th, 18th, and 19th, the 2014 installment of the massive NEW ENGLAND METAL & HARDCORE FESTIVAL gathering will mark its sixteenth year. Since 1999, the multiple-day festival has been attracting dozens of bands and thousands of fans to the historic Worcester Palladium, that houses two stages full of music for three full days.. While the final lineup for this year’s fest is still being organized, today the first wave of bands confirmed to be taking part in the three-day massacre has come in hard.

Highlights of the three dozen NEMHF 2014 confirmations as of this week include: All That Remains, Iced Earth, Nile, Slapshot, the final East Coast appearance of Bleeding Through, Nails, All Out War, Twitching Tongues, and the 2014 Metal Alliance Tour package still to be announced, with more than half of the lineup still to be disclosed. SLAYER – TEN OF SLAYER’S SEMINAL ALBUMS TO BE REISSUED ON VINYL IN NORTH AMERICA, ON DECEMBER 10, 2013

LOS ANGELES, CA – On December 10, 2013, American Recordings will reissue ten of Slayer’s seminal albums on vinyl. All ten albums will be available individually and were re-mastered from the original analog flat master tapes and pressed on the highest quality, 180-gram audiophile vinyl. Albums include all nine of Slayer’s studio recordings, Reign In Blood (1986), South of Heaven (1988), Seasons In The Abyss (1990), Divine Intervention (1994), Undisputed Attitude (1996), Diabolus In Musica (1998), God Hates Us All (2001), Christ Illusion (2006), and World Painted Blood (2009), plus their live double-record Decade of Aggression: Live (1991),

Each title will feature the original album artwork including reproductions of the original 12X12 inner sleeves. For the first U.S. run, 500 unmarked copies will be pressed on 180-gram, blood-red, colored vinyl and randomly inserted and sold in stores as part of a “lucky dip.”

As American Recordings’ owner and long-time Slayer producer Rick Rubin put it, “Slayer defines speed metal and these albums define Slayer. Listen at your own risk.”

Comatose Music has announced the February 4 release of Violence and the Macabre from Philippine Brutal Death Metallers DOWN FROM THE WOUND. After signing with Comatose in October 2012, DOWN FROM THE WOUND went to work on the follow-up to their 2007 debut, Agony Through Rituals of Self Purification. The results see the band return with 50 minutes of flesh-shredding Southeast-Asian brutality with old-school atmosphere and organic production.

DOWN FROM THE WOUND are no strangers to the death metal scene; they have been punishing eardrums since 2002 with their nasty combination of inhuman breakdowns and technical riffing reminiscent of bands like DISGORGE, GORGASM and LUST OF DECAY. On February 4 violence will prevail.

The newest band ready to take aim at the creative void in the hard rock world, Red Dragon Cartel, are set to release their debut album via Frontiers Records. The self-titled debut by the band, made up of guitar legend Jake E. Lee, bassist Ronnie Mancuso, singer D.J. Smith and drummer Jonas Fairley is set for release on January 28th. Jake E. Lee is best known for his work in Badlands and as guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne on Bark at the Moon and The Ultimate Sin albums.

Red Dragon Cartel also features various guest appearances from some of music’s most notable faces, including legendary Cheap Trick vocalist Robin Zander, original Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di’Anno, Kill Devil Hill/Pantera bassist Rex Brown, Slash’s Conspirators Todd Kearns and Brent Fitz and In This Moment front woman Maria Brink. The album was produced by Ronnie Mancuso and Jake E. Lee and was executive produced, mixed and mastered by Kevin Churko (In This Moment, Ozzy Osbourne, Five Finger Death Punch).

From the opening riff of “Deceived” to final sustained piano chord of “Exquisite Tenderness,” it is clear Red Dragon Cartel has created an album that stands amongst some of the greatest hard rock albums of all time. Infectious songs such as “Shout It Out,” “Wasted” and “Slave” showcase the band’s ability to write memorable hooks and vocal melodies. Robin Zander of Cheap Trick lends his voice to the track “Feeder.” Maria Brink of In This Moment lends her unique vocals to the track “Big Mouth.” Paul Di’Anno and Sass Jordan also lend their talents to the band’s debut. As the distributor of labels such as Metal Blade, Roadrunner, Century Media and Noise and by signing acts in the beginning like Sodom, Axel Rudi Pell, Destruction, Iron Angel, Steeler, Zed Yago, Metal Church and later Official Motörhead, Dio, Saxon, Helloween, Alice Cooper or Whitesnake, to the famous in-house label Steamhammer, SPV proves that it has a ‘truffle nose’ when it comes to finding the best and hottest Metal acts.

In 2014 SPV will celebrate its 30th anniversary with various campaigns and releases… stay tuned for more infos!

The celebrations begin with this limited edition 7″ single. Only 1,000 coloured and numbered vinyl copies will be pressed, which will make this single a highly collectable item for all Thrash Metal maniacs.
