GREEN LUNG – From the UK emerges a Doom Metal band of seasoned musicians named GREEN LUNG. These dudes have just released their debut single, Green Man Rising, on June 1st. This groovy, doomy, psychedelic (intertwined) with stoner goodness song is available on the bands’ bandcamp site, (see below). Clean vocals and a beefy executed song; even the B side song is worth the price for the doom voyage.
I dig the sound that GREEN LUNG have captured; this band has created respectable chunky riffage and relevant doom atmosphere that also grasps and holds onto some Sabbath-like vibes. Keep on plowing down the doom soaked freeway GREEN LUNG, considering I am eager to hear a whole lot more doom from you. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone

GREEN LUNG Bio:
Formed in March 2017, GREEN LUNG play heavy psychedelia that is more attuned to wild woodlands than desert dunes. Made up of current and former members of stoner heavies Oak, occult doom trio Tomb King and instrumental sludge minimalists DeadboxRadio, the London-based four-piece have combined strengths to record an opening salvo that balances gargantuan heaviness with intricate melody.

The album brings together tracks from the band’s late 80’s/early 90’s foray into Hard Rock

New York City die-hards ANTIDOTE have teamed with Old School Metal Records to unearth an overlooked era in the band’s storied history.
ANTIDOTE: The Rock Years features 12 remastered tracks from the band’s late 80’s/early 90’s foray into Hard Rock. Old School Metal Records will release the album June 9th on vinyl, CD and digital formats.
Part of the first wave of American Hardcore, ANTIDOTE released the iconic Thou Shalt Not Kill in 1983, soon after the band first came together in New York City’s lower east side.
After shutting down as a Hardcore band in 1986, ANTIDOTE reunited as a Hard Rock outfit in 1988. Led by guitar player / principal songwriter Robb Nunzio & vocalist / filmmaker Drew Stone, the band was heavily influenced by Guns & Roses, Judas Priest and similar bands of the era. They soon released the Garrett Uhlenbrock (The Ramones) produced album Return 2 Burn on Metropolis Records.
The band was a mainstay on the circuit in New York City at the time including The Limelight, The Cat Club and L’amour with many of its contemporaries including Circus Of Power and Blitzspeer. ANTIDOTE released Viva Los Pendejos in 1991, but folded again for good a year later.
Following a 16 year hiatus, the band reunited in 2008 and is now enjoying a resurgence playing a combination of both styles. A compilation of the best tracks from multiple recordings from the ‘Rock era’ – including Return 2 Burn, We’re Comin Afta You and Road Warrior – have been compiled and remastered for this compilation release.
“Revisiting these tracks many years later was really great and now that they are remastered they sound better than ever” said Guitarist Nunzio.
“I am excited that the best of this era is finally going to see the light of day” said vocalist Drew Stone. “People in Europe have always requested these tracks and it’s nice that they are finally going to get the star treatment.”
Released in 1987, Triumph And Agonyis the fourth studio album from German Heavy Metal titans WARLOCK. The record was a mammoth success globally with hit singles and MTV’s Headbangers Ball favorites All We Are and Für immer among other now-pinnacle anthems like East Meets West,Metal Tango, Rule The Ruins, and Touch Of Evil. Triumph And Agony stands among Heavy Metal’s true cult classics.
Gushed Decibel Magazine of the zenith offering, “Triumph And Agony contains one glorious anthem after another for the duration of its (too short) forty-minute run time. ‘All We Are’ is the big fist-pumper, their ‘Rock You Like A Hurricane’ or ‘You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’.’ ‘Three Minute Warning’ absolutely scorches, something Accept would have been proud to write. ‘I Rule The Ruins’ lays waste to everything and THEN rules it. ‘Kiss Of Death’ provides the requisite tragic vampire soliloquy, and ‘Make Time For Love’ provides the requisite drama ballad. ‘East Meets West’ taps some serious spine with its love letter to the Land Of The Rising Sun, while ‘Metal Tango’ may be the only, well, metal tango. And then there’s ‘Touch Of Evil,’ which ends with one of the most astonishing vulgar displays of screeching ever recorded.”
And three decades later, the record has lost none of its charm. In honor of its 30th anniversary, this September, WARLOCK vocalist Doro Pesch will, for the first time ever, perform the fist-raising full-length in its entirety on two European festival dates this Summer and a special run of US live performances. Joined by original Triumph And Agony guitarist Tommy Bolan alongside bassist Nick Douglas, drummer Johnny Dee, guitarist Bas Maas and guitarist/keyboardist Luca Princiotta, Pesch will hit Worcester, New York City, Detroit, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
“Triumph And Agony was our breakthrough album in America,” issues Pesch, “and it’s still one of my absolute favorites! I’m so excited to play some of these songs for the first time and I’m so much looking forward to play with Tommy again. I’m sure it’s gonna sound great and we’ll put on a killer show.”
Cruz Del Sur Music has inked a recording deal with Indianapolis’ SACRED LEATHER for the release of their debut album Ultimate Force. With influences that are surely evident to any Heavy Metal purist, SACRED LEATHER‘s music seems to emerge directly from the early 80s, mixing elegant and nostalgic Hard Rock/Proto Metal with the most belligerent side of the traditional NWOBHM sound. The recording of Ultimate Force will start in early September for an expected February 2018 release.
SACRED LEATHER was created out of necessity, to summon the spirit of the Heavy Metal forefathers into an age mired in apostasies. Make sure to keep an eye out for the legion of leather! In the meantime, check out the band’s 2016 official video for “Prowling Sinner” here:
In 1992 W.A.S.P. released “The Crimson Idol”. It’s the story of Jonathan Aaron Steele, an abused child looking for love. Discovering music years later, he rises to international superstardom. Later followed by a catastrophic fall.
2017 marks the 25th anniversary of the original release, which is still considered to be the best album of W.A.S.P.‘s career, and one of the greatest concept albums of all times! “The Crimson Idol” undoubtedly belongs in every metal head’s record collection. The album about the anti-hero Jonathan Steele was originally intended to be accompanied by a movie, with several hundred hours of film that were shot to create approximately 50 minutes of movie footage.
This film has never been released – Until now!
Napalm Records proudly announces “RE-IDOLZED”, the 25th anniversary of the iconic hit album plus the original “The Crimson Idol” movie on DVD and Blu-ray! For the first time EVER as originally intended, released in one product!
“RE-IDOLIZED” will be available on Blu-ray, DVD, CD, and vinyl later this year!
LONG LIVE W.A.S.P.

New England Death Squad SCALPEL will self-release new album Methods to Delusionon July 25. A promo video for “Labors of Loathing” is available at the following link:
Crusted severed toes nailed to walls; humans covered head to toe in needles administering horrific psychoactive chemicals; an infant’s head being turned to apple sauce on a kitchen counter’s edge – these are only fragments of the surreal and vicious stories told on SCALPEL’s Methods to Delusion. Wielding chainsaw guitars and sledgehammer percussion, Methods to Delusion brings back a psychedelic element to extreme music, inflicting chaos and sickening truth unto the listener. The album was engineered by Colin Marston (GORGUTS) at Thousand Caves Studios.
Death Metal is a visceral art that is dependent upon the extreme dedication of its loyal fans. We have no other purpose but to deliver a version of this art to those same fans like us, whose lives have been claimed by the likes of SUFFOCATION, CARCASS, and DEATH. It is in this vein that we construct our own brutal dirges, devoid of genre restriction and eager to explore the darker realms of music.
SCALPEL is a four-piece band hailing from various cesspools in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Guitarists Manny Egbert and Taylor Brennan assume dual vocal duties layered on top of blistering guitars; Matt Bellows belches deafening low-end proficiency on the bass guitar, and Chip Fay thunders behind the drum set, collectively driving the chaos that is the SCALPEL sound.
Hard rockers KISSIN’ DYNAMITE are set to unleash their first Live release, titled “Generation Goodbye – Dynamite Nights”, on July 14th. It was recorded at the band’s latest show in Stuttgart, Germany and now comes as DVD/2CD and Bluray/2CD packages. http://promo.afm-records.de/en/kissin-dynamite

Hearing the news of Chris Cornells’ passing was a shock to my system. After last year’s dreadful losses of musics’ most significant legends, who could ever predict Chris Cornell would leave us in 2017? Not me. My day job supervisor, Mark, told me the news at around 6:30 in the morning this past Thursday. All I can remember is my saying aloud: “no, no, no, no” and feeling like another ruthless blow to the world of music has emerged once again.
I feel very bad for the circumstance that Chris Cornell died from. No one will ever know what his saddened soul and heart were feeling, leading up to his suicide. I also feel sorrow (if not more) for his family that he’s left behind; I cannot imagine their enormous grief. I always say to myself and others, the life of celebrity and fortune is not a guarantee of harmony and control. I always considered (and forever will) that Chris Cornell was the greatest, if not one of the greatest singers of my generation.
Not to sound selfish, only the thought that both Soundgarden and Audioslave are done makes me very sad. Even any future solo work from Chris Cornell is gone. Still, compared to his wife and children losing both a husband and father, there is no comparison to us fans losing only his bands and future musical creations. I express the deepest of condolences to his wife, children and extended family; may they stay strong as ever and never give up hope. I sincerely hope Chris Cornell has now found the peace and happiness he was looking for. May God rest his soul.

GOATWHORE will release their anticipated Vengeful Ascension full-length worldwide on June 23rd via Metal Blade Records. The band’s seventh full-length and second recorded reel-to-reel, Vengeful Ascension was captured at Earth Analog in Tolono, Illinois near Champaign with longtime soundman and comrade Jarrett Pritchard (1349, Gruesome).
The ten-track, forty-one-minute production – mixed by Chris Common (Tribulation, Pelican) and mastered by Maor Applebaum (Faith No More, Halford, Today Is The Day) – marches in, clutches its listeners by the throat and refuses to loosen its grip until the abrupt conclusion of “Those Who Denied God’s Will.” A sonic manifestation of war, chaos, desolation, and emotional conflict, seamlessly bridging twenty years of the band’s signature brand of audio venom, it’s a record that finds its members at their most accomplished both individually and as a cohesive unit.
Guitarist Sammy Duet‘s dense, sub nuclear riff work and possessed solo blitzes are at their most devastating spiraling flawlessly and instinctively around drummer Zack Simmons‘ and bassist James Harvey‘s hammering rhythms while vocalist Ben Falgoust‘s distinctly commanding roar, his acidic prose more enunciated than ever before, complimenting the apocalyptic proceedings.
Vengeful Ascension will be available on CD, vinyl (in multiple limited color variations), and digital formats. Various Vengeful Ascension preorder options are currently available at metalblade.com/goatwhore where you can also sample the record’s title track.

Ethereal Sludge unit HE WHOSE OX IS GORED will unleash their brand new “Paralyzer” seven-inch this weekend via Chain Letter Collective and the band’s own label Void Assault Records.
Captured by renowned producer Jack Endino (Soundgarden, Nirvana, L7, High On Fire, Zeke etc.) at Avast! Recording Studio (Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Earth, Supersuckers etc.), “Paralyzer” was recorded as part of a Converse Rubber Tracks session and includes two previously released tracks — “Buried Twice” and “Void Assault” from the band’s critically lauded Rumors EP — remixed by their cohorts in Seattle’s Newaxeyes.
“The ‘Paralyzer’ seven-inch started as a great opportunity presented to us by Converse Rubber Tracks and Jack Endino,” HE WHOSE OX IS GORED comments. “We also wanted to find a way to work with our friends in Newaxeyes and a seven-inch came to mind. When Ben and Heather Heywood of Los Angeles’ Chain Letter Collective came on board, it created an opportunity for us to bring it all together.”
“Paralyzer” will see official release on June 16th but will be available this Sunday, May 14th at the band’s special show with Conan, North, and Serial Hawk at Highline on their home turf of Seattle as part of the venue’s seven-year anniversary series. The seven-inch will also be available throughout HE WHOSE OX IS GORED‘s US tour with Samothrace from May 17th through June 10th. The trek includes performances with Void Omina, Noothgrush, and Graves At Sea on select dates. See all confirmed shows below.

Whoa! Look at that album artwork above! That’s 100% Metal. Bravo to the two artists named at the top of this post; a Metal job well done! Once again, Set Abominae is featured on this new ICED EARTH album cover and after so many years, this mascot has quietly become rather iconic within the world of Metal, in my Metal opinion.
Yes, I will be buying this new ICED EARTH album. It releases on June 16th. Most probably I’ll buy the CD and hopefully scrape up the cash for a vinyl purchase too. Seriously, this is an album (based on its artwork alone) that must be owned on vinyl! I’ve never seen ICED EARTH in concert and they are on my very long bucket list of bands to see. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone
Die-hard and casual fans of Jorn Lande know he can sing lights out. I love the vocals and discography from Jorn Lande, both with Masterplan and solo as JORN. Jorn Lande is a world-class singer of Heavy Metal and he has nothing to lose by releasing Heavy Rock Radio, an album of 12 cover songs… or does he? JORN sings very well on songs: Stormbringer, Rainbow In The Dark and Don’t Stop Believing; only the vocals of David Coverdale, Ronnie James Dio and Steve Perry, respectively, made their songs magical and timeless, whereas JORN is better off at being a fan of these three songs.
Certainly, there are slight differences musically with each song on this album, compared to the original song; for me to get into each and every nuance regarding such differences would make me look like I have nothing better to do. Seriously. I’ll try to give you all the scary details about this album; so strap yourself in for I’m not being Mr. fanboy right now.
JORN fails miserably with the cover of the iconic Queen song: Killer Queen. It’s so stale both vocally and musically that if I was producing this album it would have been left off. Hotel California is no better. Sorry, this song should never, ever, ever be covered by nobody. All that JORN did with the Eagles Hotel Californiais make it into a second-tier, county fair, who cares, (let’s make a) Heavy Metal cover song. The electric guitar brilliance of Eagles legends Don Felder and Joe Walsh on the original Hotel California song is breathtaking to me, especially their extended dual-solo; why JORN messed with this is beyond me.
Above: Jorn Lande
JORN even (gulp) covers I Know There’s Something GoingOn by (gulp) ABBA member Frida. Oh my God is this song a disaster. WTF!? JORN? What were you thinking, dude? Why pick this song? JORN’s cover of this early 80’s bubble-gum song should not be. I’m not sorry for saying that. It’s that seriously awful. It just sounds like Jorn Lande was not pumped up for this album at all. I won’t even mention the cover of the Black Sabbath classic: Die Young. Forget about it. Not worth our time here.
The two huge highlights on this album are Jorn Lande and his band knocking the Paul Stanley song, Live To Win, right out of the park. JORN also excels with the cover of John Farnham’s song: You’re The Voice. Jorns’ vocals are powerful on these songs, the way it should be. I honestly love these covers of two such inspirational songs and JORN actually gives them both a jolt or two of extra inspiration. Unfortunately, minus the two aforementioned songs, this album as a sum of its parts is absolutely not very good at all and I am shocked as hell by it all. – Stone

Stone Says: I am absolutely psyched outta my skull to hear this new STYX studio album! STYX forever! Whoa! I can care in the least that Dennis DeYoung is not with STYX anymore. No offense to Dennis DeYoung at all; he’s been doing his own gig for years now very successfully. For God’s sake, those that complain about Dennis DeYoung no longer being with STYX: GET OVER IT. Take some EX-LAX. That’s life.
It’s been how many years now that STYX has survived (very well) without Dennis DeYoung? KISS has survived without Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. It’s the way the Rock ‘N’ Roll world turns. ‘Nuff said. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone

Sinister new Southern Lord signing CRYPT ROT prepares for the release of their debut LP, Embryonic Devils, confirmed for release on April 28th.
Still in their embryonic stages, CRYPT ROT was conceived in Ashtabula, Ohio in 2016, however members of the group have been cutting their teeth in various other bands for some time. CRYPT ROT was formed by lead vocalist/guitarist Ryan Sposito (former frontman of Homewrecker), drummer/vocalist Matt Izzi (Homewrecker, Scorched), guitarist Joe Dedomenic, bassist Steve Cray (formerly of Homewrecker) and since replaced by Aaron Schwarz, with additional vocals from Allie Dioneff.
CRYPT ROT summons an ominous atmosphere on their debut, as they segue between pummeling blackened death metal fury, packed with caustic vocals, drop-tuned aggression, relentless riffs, spine-tingling harmonies, and creepy sounds from the darkest catacombs. Lyrically they probe matters of life, death, politics, (anti) religion, suffering, and mental health, and take influence from the masters including; Carnage, Dismember, Death, Cannibal Corpse, Repugnant, Deicide, and Dissection.
For the recording sessions of Embryonic Devils, the band enlisted Bill Korecky at the Mars Compound (Integrity, Ringworm, Homewrecker); the collaboration resulted in five brand new death anthems, refined with a high-gain sound that will grab listeners with its ferocity.
Sample the tumultuous filth of “Chapters Of Torment” RIGHT HERE.
Embryonic Devils shall be released via Southern Lord in LP and digital formats on 28th April, preorder information shall be released soon. The band recently entered the studio again resulting in three new songs, which will later appear on a split release with Scorched.
This is just the beginning, let the Rot Begin… welcome to the Crypt.
