Australian hard rockers BIG RED FIRE TRUCK have released their new single “Love Bite“. The song is from their upcoming EP Trouble InParadisewhich is out on August 4th, 2023.
The band comments: ” ‘Love Bite’ is a personal reflection of my experiences in the music industry and its comparison to the highs and lows of a place like Vegas. It’s easy to get caught up in the glittering facade of success and become fixated on the idea of making it big. I read an article recently that helped me come to realise that the industry is in fact a lot like a casino – a few win big, a few even win small and those that don’t are kicked to the curb and left to fend for themselves. This song is a reminder to myself and others to enjoy the journey, no matter what the outcome may be.”
About BIG RED FIRE TRUCK: BIG RED FIRE TRUCK began in 2016 as a project by Digby to write some fun heavy metal and hard rock songs and fulfil his need to hear new music in the style of his beloved bands. Taking inspiration from the likes of VAN HALEN, RECKLESS LOVE, THE DARKNESS, AEROSMITH, SUM 41, and CRAZY LIXX, the quartet pay homage to previous generations of hard rock while delivering their own distinctive character.
BIG RED FIRE TRUCK Are: Digby (Guitar and Lead Vocals) Ben Frank (Guitar) Pete Grant (Drums and Vocals) Nick Frazier (Bass)

Following their much acclaimed, self-titled 2017-debut, June 30, 2023 sees Australian heavy metal force NIGHT LEGION release their sophomore studio album, entitled “Fight Or Fall” via Massacre Records!
As first album single, “The Hounds Of Baskerville”, immediatly proves, “Fight Or Fall” is a no-nonsense return to fast and powerful heavy metal with screaming vocals, crushing guitars and hooks that remind you what great songwriting sounds like. This record is not a happy walk through a forest of elves – this is the battlefield where metal lives and soaring vocals invoke the spirits of what made metal the force it is today!
Give ear, a music video for NIGHT LEGION‘s new single is now streaming HERE!
“A classic horror inspired track slightly based around the Sherlock Holmes’ “The Hound of the Baskervilles”, however with a much more dark and brutal twist and in our own way,“ the band reveals. “It centralizes to a small town being terrorized by the local werewolves, with descriptive references.
Some people believe it, some people don’t and think it’s a legend we have devised ourselves until they themselves face the terror & wrath. The wolves in this case also represent the 5 of us – we are about to unleash a new record and we have the hunger to unleash on the live circuit!
It’s also inspired by how humanity’s own state of madness can conjure up such evil for the reason to terrorize, deceive and always live in fear. The reference to the chorus “Chase the hounds of Baskerville” really comes from how we as humans are intrigued to learn more about the mysteries of the world and anything that scares us. It’s a pretty bold, in your face, massive memorable chorus – it’s the run to the hills of the album, I’d say, hence being the first single.
It’s a heart stopper vocally & Stu’s guitar work adds another dimension – this song will play a movie in the listeners head.”
“Fight Or Fall” was produced by NIGHT LEGION guitarist Stu Marshall, and was mixed and mastered by Chris Themelco at Monolith Studios. Set to be released on June 30, 2023, the album pre-sale has just started via Massacre Records at THIS LOCATION!

Once more recorded and mixed by Francis Perron at RadicArt Studio, mastered by Maor Appelbaum and produced by VOIVOD, Morgöth Tales includes fresh studio (re-)recordings by the band’s current line-up of 9 especially selected, not-so-obvious picks from the band’s hyper-classy and extremely diverse back catalogue (between 1984 and 2003) as well as a brand-new song in the album’s title-track, “Morgöth Tales”.
Lexington (KY) – The war machine known as Tombstalker stirs once again and lumbers forth to ravage the planet with new darkened hymns of chaos and bloodshed! New EP Age Of Darkness will be released on 12-inch vinyl, and cassette formats May 29 via Boris Records. The CD version will be released by Morbid AggressorProductions. Age of Darkness was recorded at Sneak Attack Studios.
Opening track “Astral Combat” is available now at the following locations:
Age Of Darkness showcases Tombstalker‘s maturity and evolved songwriting. Hark! On the eve of the band’s 15 year anniversary a new age of darkness dawns…
Now featuring a brand new lineup, including additional lead guitar, as well as a new drummer, Tombstalker is more vicious than ever and poised to show the world the meaning of hammer-crushing death once again.
Tombstalker will launch the ’15 Years of Carnage and Chaos Tour’ in June (scroll to the bottom for tour poster). Dates are as follows:
June 5 – Lexington, KY June 7 – Indianapolis, IN June 8 – Cincinnati, OH June 9 – Louisville, KY June 10 – Atlanta, GA
BIO: Tombstalker’s story began in 2008 in Lexington, KY when several of the founding members were still teenagers. Throughout their early days as a band they released several demos, EPs, and eventually a debut full-length in 2015. During this time they scoured the American underground circuit setting out on multiple nationwide tours as well as festival appearances cementing themselves as true warriors.
Stylistically, they forged a distinctive sound heavily steeped in Scandinavian style black death as well as d-beat crust punk; not a common combination found on American soil thus setting them apart from their peers in many respects.
Around 2017, Tombstalker entered an extended hiatus with zero activity due to lineup complications. Much doubt would be cast in the coming years as to whether they would return. That doubt has been exstinguished with Age ofDarkness.
Canadian psychedelic heavy rock trio TUMBLE, will be celebrating the release of their debut EPLady Cadaver on Sunday May 14th at Handlebar Toronto, ON, Canada. Bringing groovy riffs, high-energy rhythms and drum solos, TUMBLE‘s new offering delivers a vintage rock ‘n’ roll vibe.
“Thrilled to unleash these two heavy hitters into the wild for all you hard rock lovers. I hope you play these songs LOUD, and enjoy listening to them as much as we enjoyed recording them. We’ve only just begun… turn on, tune in, and TUMBLE.” – (Liam Deak, Guitarist/Vocalist)
“Lady Cadaver’”, explain TUMBLE, “is about the big bad trip… sometimes surreal but not always imaginary, while ‘The Plague’ is a psychedelic heavy rock instrumental for your hip shakin’, head banging pleasure.”
The opener is a catchy track with wide spread appeal, combining rhythmic instrumentation with guitar licks and giving their percussionist the spotlight. An immersive experience is found in the instrumental track “The Plague”. Leaning into the heavier side of the band’s sound, this song dives into the otherworldly with alluring guitar leads and eerie sounds before building into a high-speed multi-textural frenzy.

The Plague
About TUMBLE: TUMBLE is a power trio inspired by the heavy bands of the late 60’s and early 70’s. Their retro hard rock/psychedelic sound is influenced by bands such as BUDGIE, BLUE CHEER, CACTUS, MC5, PENTAGRAM and THE GROUNDHOGS. TUMBLE formed in Toronto, ON, in early 2022. They started out cutting their teeth in the city’s open mic circuit, and quickly began gathering the attention of the local music scene. By the end of 2022, TUMBLE was opening for bands such as CROWN LANDS, ECSTATIC VISION, and WITCHROT.
In January 2023, they caught the attention of legendary Canadian-rock musician/producer, Ian Blurton who agreed to spend a day recording with the band in his studio, ProGold. He managed to capture the band’s live energy, raw power, and ferocious attack in the studio, which resulted in Tumble’s debut EP Lady Cadaver, set to be self-released on May 5th, 2023.

The brainchild of Canadian guitarist Dave Bergeron, melodic metal solo project STYGIANMASK has released their debut single. The new track, “Drown Alone”, features vocals from Witherfall and Sanctuary frontman Joseph Michael, alongside Bergeron on guitar and Eddy Levitsky (The Anchoret) on bass. The song is an evocative marriage of power/death-metal virtuosity and bombast with the soaring symphonics of Michael’s performance, who also co-wrote the track alongside Bergeron.
Speaking about working with Michael and Levitsky on his first single, Dave Bergeron shares, ”It was really easy working with Joseph and Eddy on this song, they are both musicians that I look up to and we all pushed in the same direction to make the perfect first single to start this journey.”
Earthshine is the second single to be released from the upcoming new album Between The Day & I of modern post-metal outfit ATLASES, which will be released on June 2nd via Lifeforce Records.
“Take the walk through a mysterious and ethereal path through the occasional fragile sides of one’s burden – which lie amidst the inner mixture within, consisting of clarity and chaos
The fact that ATLASES from Finland sound different has its reasons. Besides the “normal instrumentation” of a metal band, the musicians from Pori also work with electronic drum pads and keyboards. Both are not just additional accessories, but an integral part of the musical self-image of this Nordic group. In addition, there is the creative demand to go further aesthetically and sonically than is usual in modern post-metal. In the cinematic soundscapes ATLASES are creating you can lose yourself completely.
The third album “Between The Day & I” pushes this approach to the extreme. The dualism of beautiful, atmospheric euphony and abrupt brute force works fantastically and provides lasting impressions. The sextet from Pori sets tension arcs time and again, which lead deeper and deeper into a maelstrom of rapture, melancholy and emotional discharge. On the follow-up to their 2020 LIFEFORCE RECORDS debut, “Woe Portrait”, ATLASES present themselves as resourceful songwriters who cultivate powerful contrasts beyond the usual conventions of post-metal and thus stand out.
With “Between The Day & I”, the Finns prove that modern post-metal can still be developed further, if the right attitude and the necessary daring meet forward-thinking creativity and an elevated level of ambition.
The fact that the cover motif of the new ATLASES album evokes associations in the direction of the MASTODON classic “Remission” or “White Pony” of the mighty DEFTONES is a coincidence, but on closer reflection it fits pretty well.
Eyelids of the New Dawn 4:35 Singulars 3:30 Silent Threads 4:11 Earthshine 4:51 Mosaic of Silence 4:14 Save Room 5:40 Intermission 1:59 Versus 2:41 Imperial Dark 3:33 Ties to Distance 7:11
Here are three examples of an album cover showing a woman’s face behind a see-through cloth. I’m certain there’s more out there. I believe this idea of an album cover needs to retire. For good. Please. Stop.
The Rolling Stones – Goats Head Soup (1973)
I’ll give The Rolling Stones a pass due to my thinking this was the first time this idea was used for an album cover. I could be wrong. Besides, it’s The Rolling Stones.
Scorpions – Rock Believer (2022)
C’mon Scorpions. This album cover of RockBeliever is so bad it’s the reason why I didn’t buy the physical CD. I didn’t want to see it laying around my other CDs that have quality album art. Besides, I listen to Rock Believer on Spotify.
Halestorm – Back From The Dead (2022)
I’ll bet that Halestorm and Scorpions never expected to have nearly the same album cover released in the SAME YEAR!! Some people might say that’s glass covering over the face of Lzzy Hale. Is it Lzzy Hale though? Hard to tell maybe, with the violent screaming face. Anyways, I believe this is cloth covering her face. I always felt the Halestorm debut album cover art from 2009 was bizarre and cringey; yet this album cover takes the prize for unoriginal disaster.
Thank you for reading my semi-useless rant. Please feel free to comment! Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone
Below is my list of current news that I have two words for: WHO CARES? Just due to my writing this list is not equal to me caring about the topics. I really don’t care about what’s below and want the world to know it.
1. James Corden is having his last episode of The Late Late Show tonight. Good. See ya. Bye, bye!
2. Mötley Crüe or Mick Mars? Honestly, who cares! All of them have more money than they can count and I’m broke. Whatever.
3. The NFL Draft. C’mon. More busts come out of the NFL Draft than bonafide football players. Don’t believe me? Just google away. Oh and who cares.
4. Coachella. Who. Cares.
5. The United States debt ceiling. Who cares! There’s nothing I can do about it. Nothing.
OF THE SUN showcases a different side to their heavy sound with the new single “Lost Tongue“. Landing on May 5th, the second offering from the upcoming EP Pattern Rebirth, delivers soaring vocal harmonies, intricate melodies and progressive arrangements.
The band comments:
“Inspired by feelings of neglect and abandonment of the self, ‘Lost Tongue’ is a departure from the typically aggressive OF THE SUN songwriting style. It’s a solemn tune, billowing with the dark harmonic vocal character akin to an ALICE IN CHAINS song, while attacking tooth and nail the frustration that lies at the heart of a toxic relationship. The start of it illustrates the epiphany, finding myself years deep in something that required the absence of my true persona. From there, ‘Lost Tongue’ navigates through the course of this circumstance, as well as through the confusion, anxiety, anger, and disbelief found in this condition, ultimately resolving to uproot everything.”
About OF THE SUN: Beginning in Myrtle Beach, SC, before moving to Austin, TX, and landing in southern Germany, the metal outfit, OF THE SUN, has traveled a long, winding path, and continues to build on its approach to song writing through structural variation and stylistic revisions. Influenced by bands like BTBAM, OPETH, SOUNDGARDEN, and MR BUNGLE, OF THE SUN draws from a diverse vocabulary of musical language and boils it down into the particular visions of chief creator, Patrick Duvall. Recruiting from overseas, drummers Bryce Butler (SHADOW OF INTENT, THE FACELESS, CONTRARIAN) and Rom Gov (SEEK IRONY, TIBETAN SKY RITUAL), along with bassist Jacob Umansky (INTERVALS, THE FACELESS, PAINTED IN EXILE) have joined ranks for Pattern Rebirth.
Forty-five years young, British hard rock royalty GIRLSCHOOL comes out swinging with their fourteenth studio album, WTFortyfive?, a deliciously dirty declaration that age is a number that shows how much real raw attitude you have when it really counts. WTFortyfive? is set for release on July 28th via Silver Lining Music.
Lead single “Are You Ready?” sets the pace; a racy, raunchy, fun-saturated shapeshifter co-written with Alcatrazz’s Joe Stump that shows GIRLSCHOOL’s leathers may still carry the well-baked battle scars of decades past, but their songs and attitude are as fresh, fun, heavy, and catchy as ever before.
As a nod to their fellow partners in crime, GIRLSCHOOL today reveals the animated video for “Are You Ready?,” the video sequel to Alcatrazz’s “Don’t Get Mad… Get Even” (feat. GIRLSCHOOL)” taken from the upcoming Alcatrazz album Take No Prisoners (set for release May 19thvia Silver Lining Music). Both videos were created by Natalia Jonderko Śmiechowicz.
Comments the band, “The first new GIRLSCHOOL music in nearly a decade! Powerful, heavy and with a great groove, this is the first single from our WTFortyfive? album! We think you’ll like it… Are you ready? We are!”
Watch GIRLSCHOOL’s video for “Are You Ready?” (feat. Joe Stump)” HERE.
Watch Alcatrazz’s video for “Don’t Get Mad… Get Even (feat. Girlschool)” HERE.
With WTFortyfive?, Kim McAuliffe (guitar/vocals), Denise Dufort (drums), Jackie Chambers (guitar/backing vocals), and Tracey Lamb (bass) leave the grit under their finger nails and the muck on their crusty leather boots as they riff and stomp their way through twelve statements of intent showing major attitude, some great melodies, and a consistent crunch to every guitar.
There’s the addictive mototörcharged scuzz of “It Is What It Is,” the Wandsworth via Sunset Strip sway of “Bump In The Night,” the youthful, punky romp of “Up To No Good,” and the smart, sassy, rock ‘n’ roll hooks of “Believing In You,” with McAuliffe’s vocals sounding as sharp and raucous as ever. And if that isn’t enough, their raunch roars and rolls alongside Biff Byford (Saxon), Phil Campbell (Motörhead), and Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses) on a cracking cover of “Born To Raise Hell!” So throw away your inhibitions and join these spectacularly wild women on the most glorious of rock ‘n’ roll rides. Lemmy knew, so should YOU!

Today marks the official unveiling of Crimson &Jet Black, the latest full-length from leading Japanese heavy metal act, ANTHEM, out now on Reaper Entertainment.
It’s been four years since the release of the band’s critically acclaimed Nucleus full-length — a re-recording of their classic hits with English lyrics. But ANTHEM used the pandemic downtime wisely. Crimson & Jet Black features eleven tracks, once again performed in English.
Offers the band, “Finally, our new album Crimson & Jet Black is out! The album is full of straight, powerful, and great metal songs. We promise that it sounds as sharp as a knife. If you love metal, you shouldn’t miss it. But be careful not to get blown away!”

After finishing two anniversary tours in 2021 — the band’s thirty-fifth anniversary tour, which had been postponed due to the pandemic restrictions, as well the twentieth anniversary of their reunion tour called the ANTHEM 2001 Vs ANTHEM 2021 Tour — the band began work on their latest offering. Originally scheduled to be completed in the Spring of 2022, band leader Shibata, a perfectionist at heart, decided to enrich each of the songs’ quality and pushed the recording schedule to Summer/Fall.
Like previous ANTHEM works, Naoto is the main producer of the album, but this time renowned Swedish producer Jens Bogren, (Arch Enemy, Amon Amarth, Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, etc.) who had previously mixed and mastered Nucleus, is credited as a co-producer.

“Watch as I rise. Reclaim my life. Under the darkest of skies. Scars will remain, signed by your name. Never forget, we’re the same.” ELEINE – “Never Forget” (2023)
Times are hard, we know. And while Tina Turner may have declared some time ago that, “we don’t need another hero,” the opposite seems to be true. We need heroes, we need anthems, we need perseverance. And fast! Luckily for us, ELEINE has heard the call with their newest single NeverForget.
Beginning with a heavy, thrashy riff which instantly drives the song forward and leads to a mighty chorus, the song is the perfect paradigm of the speed and epic vibe of their new album, WeShall Remain, set for release on July 14th via Atomic Fire Records.
The band comments, “Have you ever met someone who has scarred you? Made you doubt yourself? Maybe even made your life a living hell? We all have, in one way or another. But the most important part of experiencing something inevitable like this is to remember your own worth. It’s not about you, but you can evolve and learn from the situation itself.
“Rise up. Accept what has been. Move forward and cut the strings attached to anyone who really doesn’t give you anything else but a headache. In the end, we’re all facing the same fate. Make sure your life along the way has as less toxic people as possible and make sure you are in charge of your own life.”

Debut album, “Legends” coming July 7, 2023 on AFM Records!
July 7, 2023 sees up-and-coming, heavy metal sensation, ALL FOR METAL, release their hotly-anticipated, first full-length album, entitled Legends, via AFM Records.
With eleven irresistible, compact and catchy songs, the band’s colossal debut unleashes anthemic, straightforward metal that has international class. Under the banner of ALL FOR METAL, metal enthusiasts Tim “Tetzel” Schmidt (known as the singer of Asenblut as well as a strength athlete and fitness influencer) and Antonio Calanna (singer of the hard rock band DeVicious) joined forces for the perfect metal match. Both are united by their love for classic heavy metal sounds and the common vision to them to a new generation of music fans.
“We grew up with bands like Manowar, at whose concerts the audience is overwhelmed by the energy,” Tetzel recently revealed. “That’s where strangers are in each other’s arms and fervently belting out the songs. This invisible bond, this connection, is created through the music alone.” His vocal counterpart Antonio adds, “I’ve only experienced such a sense of community in the metal scene. With ALL FOR METAL, we want to help pass this on and let as many music fans as possible share in it.”
Following four previously-released songs, “Born In Valhalla”, “Raise Your Hammer”, “Fury of the Gods” and the aptly-titled track “All For Metal”, today, the band is premiering a music video for the thunderous single “Mountain Of Power”. New Claymation Video For “No Survivors” ft. CARNIFEX’s Scott Ian Lewis
Blending black metal/horror theatrics with intense death metal style blast beats and shredding guitar along with brutal slamming breakdowns and catchy melodies, Toledo, OH symphonic deathcore band The Convalescence announces they will be hitting the road this June for the “One of The Dead Tour” with support from Knoxville, TN’s Summoner’s Circle and Raleigh, NC’s WoR. The tour will kick off with a hometown headlining show for The Convalescence at the Toledo Death Fest on June 3rd and see the tour wrap up on June 24th in Battle Creek, MI. (all dates listed below).
In additional news, The Convalescencehave unleashed their latest single “No Survivors” featuring Scott Ian Lewis of Carnifex with a Claymation music video, which can be viewed at https://youtu.be/YQVSCu57aSs
Vocalist Keith Wampler details the single and the band’s plans for an upcoming album:
“The single is one of the hardest-hitting songs we’ve ever released. The lyrics and video were inspired by the Alien films, and having Scott doing some nasty guest vocals really helped give it the brutality we were looking for. We played it live throughout our recent European Tour and absolutely loved the energy it brings to the stage. We’re looking forward to this one being a part of our live show for many tours to come. This new album is basically like one big horror movie, song by song each one tells a story. Each one is brutal in its own way.”
The Convalescence expects the album will be received well by the fans, as they do their very best to step things up on each record. They worked with producer Jason Suecof on this one at Audiohammer Studios in Florida who has worked with most of their favorite bands (The Black Dahlia Murder, Carnifex, Deicide, Job For A Cowboy) and they were beyond stoked he was down to do the recording with them. In their opinion, they’ve created the heaviest The Convalescence album so far. The full-length was mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy) and is expected for release summer of 2023.
Filthy, brutal, and symphonic, The Convalescence is recommended for fans of Carnifex, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Chelsea Grin.
