Metal Odyssey’s METAL Pick Of The Day Is: HELLOWEEN “Battle’s Won” (Official Track And Lyric Video)

HELLOWEEN – Below is the official track Battle’s Won from the fifteenth HELLOWEEN studio album, My God-Given Right. This new HELLOWEEN album was released worldwide via the mighty Nuclear Blast Records. I’ve been a fan of HELLOWEEN for decades now and it seems like only yesterday when I purchased the (debut full-length) cassette version of Walls Of Jericho. I still have that cassette from 1985 too. Unbelievable, I know!

One of the finest Metal album releases of 2015 that I purchased back in May is: My God Given Right. I found it at my local Best Buy and there was only one there. This new HELLOWEEN album of European Power Metal has made me feel damn good! There’s that special something about the vocals of Andy Deris and the way HELLOWEEN plays at such a heightened level, with each of their songs. Just an amazing band is HELLOWEEN, both past and present, in my Metal opinion.

When it comes to this Battle’s Won song, I cannot figure out if it’s a pro or anti-war song. Maybe it’s neither? Regardless, I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone

There truly is not one average song on My God Given Right. The entire album is killer. If you haven’t bought it yet, do so. You don’t want to miss out on this new HELLOWEEN album, one of my Metal favorites of 2015! Whoa.

On November 3rd, 1990 – WARRANT‘s huge Hair Metal song, Cherry Pie, was sitting at #10, on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. This song is featured on WARRANT’s second studio album of the same title, released back in 1990. She’s my Cherry Pie!

On November 3rd, 2015 – The second studio album, Toxicity, from SYSTEM OF A DOWN is ranked at #1, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Whoa, man! This legendary album was released back in 2001.

On November 3rd, 2015 – The second studio album, Paranoid, from the great BLACK SABBATH is ranked at #2, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Whoa, again! This album was released back in 1970!! In 1970, I was 4 years old.

On November 3rd, 2015 – The new studio album from STRYPER, Fallen, has fallen on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Fallen is ranked at #35. STRYPER ROCKS.

Metal Odyssey’s METAL Pick Of The Day Is: W.A.S.P. “Scream” (Official Lyric Video / Napalm Records)

W.A.S.P. – Metal warrior Blackie Lawless has returned with his legendary band W.A.S.P., with a towering follow-up to 2009’s Babylon studio album. The new studio album is titled Golgotha and the lyric video for the opening track, Scream, is below. Golgotha was released back on October 9th, via the great Napalm Records.

I would classify Scream as a more than a subtle religious song, lyrically referencing to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, without saying his name. Heck, the images of the three crosses and the album title of Golgotha backs up my thought there. Maybe I am totally wrong, who knows? I like this song very much and yet it’s not the greatest W.A.S.P. song ever recorded either. I guess that tells me just how powerful the back catalog of W.A.S.P. songs are!

I, like my Best Metal Buddy Scott Coverdale have been waiting for this new studio album to land; now that it’s here we are very, very psyched! I am pleased with the tempo of this song and the trademark W.A.S.P. sound is truly intact. Blackie‘s vocals sound sharp and the visuals featured on this lyric video are freaking cool as all hell. Strange as it sounds, I find the tempo and melody of Scream to be kinda similar to Night Ranger‘s song: Don’t Tell Me You Love Me. Perhaps it’s just me.

I hope you enjoy this song and lyric video as much as I do. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone

On This Day In METAL History – October 28th… From HORROR MOVIES To BORN OF OSIRIS

On October 28th, 1983 – The Horror film POSSESSION (1981 film) opened at the Rivoli and other theaters in New York City. This B flick stars Isabelle Adjani, Sam Neil (of Jurassic Park fame) and Heinz Bennent. Possession was written and directed by Andrzej Zulawski.

On October 28th, 1994 – The Science-Fiction film STARGATE was released to wide-screen theaters in the USA. This film stars the legendary Kurt Russell and James Spader. I absolutely love this movie! I recommend STARGATE tremendously! This movie is not difficult to find; I am now in the mood to watch it again!

If you are addicted to the Ancient Aliens series that is currently airing on the History Channel, you’ll fall head over heals for STARGATE! By the way, I once met James Spader at a wedding I attended in Long Island, New York. This chance encounter took place back in the 90’s. Pretty cool, huh?

On October 28th, 2005 – The super gory and horrific SAW II was released to wide-screen theaters in the USA, via Lions Gate Films. SAW II was directed by the great Darren Bousman.

On October 28th, 2015 – The newly released studio album, Soul Sphere, from Chicago’s BORN OF OSIRIS is at #1, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Holy shit and yeah! This album is scathingly extreme and whoa! Soul Sphere receives the Metal Odyssey Seal Of Extreme Metal Approval. My eardrums are truthfully scarred from this album and Metal Be Thy Name!

On October 16th, 1984 – The great DEEP PURPLE released their eleventh studio album: Perfect Strangers. I love this album so much! Honestly, I recommend this album to every music loving human being on planet Earth. I remember getting my first copy of Perfect Strangers on cassette! I bought it back in ’84 at Strawberries Records & Tapes in Avon, Connecticut. Whoa!

Perfect Strangers featured the super legendary “Mark II” lineup of: guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, vocalist Ian Gillan, Jon Lord on keys & organ, Ian Paice on drums and Roger Glover on bass. My favorite songs on Perfect Strangers are: Knocking At Your Back Door, Perfect Strangers, Wasted Sunsets and Hungry Daze.

On October 16th, 1985 – KISS released their thirteenth studio album: Asylum. This is not one of my favorite KISS albums, yet King Of The Mountain and Any Way You Slice It are very cool songs. Tears Are Falling kinda gets on my Metal nerves, after all these years. The album cover is cheesy too. Hell, the late & great Eric Carr has the bottom of his face cut-off on this Asylum album cover. WTF? That’s blasphemy!

On This Day In METAL History – October 14th… From KISS To STRYPER

On October 14th, 1977 – KISS ALIVE II was released. Metal be thy name. Without KISS, this world would super-duper suck to the highest level of sucky.

On October 14th, 1985 – The iconic IRON MAIDEN released their double-live album: Live After Death. Metal be thy name, once again.

On October 14th, 1989 – MÖTLEY CRÜE had their fabulous studio album, Dr. Feelgood, ranked at #1, on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart. Dr. Feelgood was the fifth studio album from MÖTLEY CRÜE, boasting the timeless songs: Kickstart My Heart, Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away), Same ‘Ol Situation (S.O.S.), Dr. Feelgood and the power ballad: Without You. If you don’t own this MÖTLEY CRÜE album, you obviously eat dried prunes with stale milk crackers.

On October 14th, 2015 – The forthcoming studio album from STRYPER, Fallen, is ranked at #12 on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. This album will be released on Friday, October 16th. Amen!

On October 14th, 2015 – The fourteenth studio album from W.A.S.P., Babylon, is ranked at #60, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Babylon was released back in 2009. This is a freaking great album, my Metal brothers and sisters.

On October 11th, 2015 – The thirteenth studio album from W.A.S.P., Dominator, is ranked at #75, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Dominator was released back in 2007, via Demolition Records.

On October 11th, 2015 – W.A.S.P. are to perform at Pakkahuone in Tampere, Finland.

On October 11th, 2015 – W.A.S.P. Golgotha is ranked at #3, on the Amazon Best Sellers In Metal Chart. This Amazon chart is updated hourly, based on sales. This #3 ranking was taken at 2:30 A.M. EST.

On This Day In METAL History, October 9th… From RUSH To W.A.S.P.

On October 9th, 1974 – RUSH had their American television debut on the popular Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert. RUSH didn’t perform on American television again until 2008 on The Colbert Report.

On October 9th, 1992 – A meteorite that weighed 28 pounds and shaped like a bowling ball crashed into the back-end of a 1980 Chevy Malibu, in Peekskill, New York, USA. This meteorite also smelled of rotten eggs. Ew. No one was hurt or killed by this alien missile. The good news: This 1980 Chevy Malibu was sold to Lang’s Fossils And Meteorites for a whopping $10,000; which was well above the Kelley Blue Book value at that time. Mama Mia!!

On October 7th, 2006 – The super-duper IRON MAIDEN performed at the Tweeter Center in Camden, New Jersey. IRON MAIDEN were on their A Matter Of Life And Death Tour.

On October 7th, 2014 – The great ORANGE GOBLIN released their studio album: Back From The Abyss. By the way, in case you didn’t know, ORANGE GOBLIN are a bona-fide, amazing and kick-to-the-ass band. Dig it.

On October 7th, 2014 – The terrific HELLION released their EP: Karma’s A Bitch. Without Ann Boleyn and her band HELLION, well, life would pretty much suck.

On October 7th, 2015 – DEVIL YOU KNOW have their forthcoming studio album, They Bleed Red, ranked at #16, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Their second studio album, They Bleed Red releases on November 6th, 2015, via Nuclear Blast Entertainment.

On October 5th, 1991 – METALLICA‘s monster song, Enter Sandman, was ranked at #21, on the Weekly Top 40. This great song is featured on Metallica’s fifth and self-titled studio album (aka The Black Album), released back in 1991.

On October 5th, 1995 – The iconic IRON MAIDEN performed at the Standard Bank Arena in Johannesburg, South Africa. This was a concert on The X Factour. Blaze Bayley was the lead vocalist for IRON MAIDEN, during this period of time. Whoa.

On October 5th, 2015 – The newly released TRIVIUM studio album, Silence In The Snow (Deluxe Edition), is ranked at #1, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Whoa.

MEGADETH – New Studio Album “Dystopia” Releases On January 22nd, 2016

The magnificent MEGADETH will be releasing their fifteenth studio album, Dystopia, on January 22nd, 2016. What a grand Metal way to start off the new year of 2016, with new MEGADETH!

How about the album cover art for Dystopia? I’m digging it. Looks like Vic Rattlehead is some kind of cyborg security officer or bounty hunter, in a futuristic and devastated city? That destroyed bridge on the album cover carries some social symbolism; a bridge to nowhere, maybe? I am looking forward to getting this CD and… Metal Be Thy Name.
