Metal Odyssey’s METAL Pick Of The Day Is: HELLOWEEN “Battle’s Won” (Official Track And Lyric Video)

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, news, rock music with tags , , , , on November 6, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Helloween

HELLOWEEN – Below is the official track Battle’s Won from the fifteenth HELLOWEEN studio album, My God-Given Right. This new HELLOWEEN album was released worldwide via the mighty Nuclear Blast Records. I’ve been a fan of HELLOWEEN for decades now and it seems like only yesterday when I purchased the (debut full-length) cassette version of Walls Of Jericho. I still have that cassette from 1985 too. Unbelievable, I know!

One of the finest Metal album releases of 2015 that I purchased back in May is: My God Given Right. I found it at my local Best Buy and there was only one there. This new HELLOWEEN album of European Power Metal has made me feel damn good! There’s that special something about the vocals of Andy Deris and the way HELLOWEEN plays at such a heightened level, with each of their songs. Just an amazing band is HELLOWEEN, both past and present, in my Metal opinion.

When it comes to this Battle’s Won song, I cannot figure out if it’s a pro or anti-war song. Maybe it’s neither? Regardless, I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone

There truly is not one average song on My God Given Right. The entire album is killer. If you haven’t bought it yet, do so. You don’t want to miss out on this new HELLOWEEN album, one of my Metal favorites of 2015! Whoa.

After successfully concluding their world-tour in support of the 2013 output Straight Out Of Hell, the party has been concluded upon the festival summer.

Clearly no time to sit back and relax, as the pumpkin heads will be heading right for their very own MiSueno Studios, located on the isle of Tenerife to start working on the successor of Straight Out Of Hell in October. Joining the band to handle production duties will be long-term companion Charlie Bauerfeind. The new album which is set for a release in May 2015 will be the first since HELLOWEEN have inked a new deal with old label home Nuclear Blast, where they released two albums – The Dark Ride (2000) and Rabbit Don’t Come Easy (2003), both of which have been re-issued with extended bonus material in 2013.

Last but not least, HELLOWEEN would like to send out a big “Thank You” to all the Helloween Maniacs worldwide with some live impressions of the title track of the charting success Straight Out Of Hell turned out to be, landing on a sensational #4, their highest German chart entry to date, holding this position for five long weeks. Additionally they made another five Top ten entries in Europe and also cracked the US Billboard Charts.

Founded in 1984 and hailed as one of the pioneering Power Metal bands from Germany, the Hamburg-based quintet HELLOWEEN is celebrating their 30th Anniversary in 2014 and have announced their return to Nuclear Blast’s worldwide artist family.

“As a label, Nuclear Blast is ‘Heavy Metal to the bone,’” shares HELLOWEEN vocalist Andi Deris, “and we are really looking forward to working together with a lot of familiar faces.”

Nuclear Blast’s founder & label owner Markus Staiger is overwhelmed at bringing the band back into the fold. “We are more than proud that HELLOWEEN is part of the Nuclear Blast family again,” he states. “All those years we had a friendship-like connection and our ways crossed on a regular basis at concerts and festivals. HELLOWEEN to us is a matter of the heart. There’s not only the two records we released [The Dark Ride in 2000 and Rabbit Don’t Come Easy in 2003], but they’re an act that has influenced me and many of our employees. Together there are big plans and we are looking forward to having another productive and successful cooperation.”

Helloween - Classic Band Logo - #119 - 2013

Following HELLOWEEN’s appearances on the European summer festival circuit, the band will enter Mi Sueño Studio on the island of Tenerife off the coast of Morocco with producer Charlie Bauerfeind (BLIND GUARDIAN, HAMMERFALL, PRIMAL FEAR) to record a new studio album for an early 2015 release.

Last month, Nuclear Blast released special edition re-issues of The Dark Ride and Rabbit Don’t Come Easy, featuring 3 bonus tracks on each album, which can be ordered from the Nuclear Blast USA Webshop.

Straight Out Of Hell, HELLOWEEN’s latest studio album released in early 2013, debuted on the German album chart at #4 – the band’s highest chart entry in their home country to date – and held this position for five weeks. The album had five other “Top Ten” album entries in Europe and also cracked the American Billboard Top 100 chart with an entry at #97.

I think it’s been quite awhile since I wrote down Some Metal and Rock ‘N Roll Thoughts on Metal Odyssey. I write plenty of them down on twitter, of course! The last time this column (theme) was posted, I believe was November 4th, 2012. Whoa! Since then my family and I have relocated to Ohio via Pennsylvania and I’ve been busier than a taxi on Broadway during Christmas; when it comes to starting over in a new state.

Within the last year or so, my love for Metal has grown ever stronger. It’s probably cause I’ve leaned on so many bands and musicians to fill my senses with their sounds, energy and vocals; just to get me through the CRAZINESS of relocating. Exhilarating. That’s what METAL is for me. I’m sure y’all know what I’m talking about too, when I equate the word exhilarating to Metal.

I’m really, really, really, really, really excited and cannot wait for the new album Axe To Grind to be released from this True Metal band, with origins from Denmark and featuring Kev Moore on vocals:

Witch Cross - Group Promo Pic - Logo - 2013 - #1

The album artwork on numerous 2013 releases that I’ve been seeing and enjoying lately is phenomenal! Suffocation’s Pinnacle Of Bedlam, Six Feet Under’s Unborn, Adrenaline Mob’s Coverta and Helloween’s Straight Out Of Hell are just a few that have my eyes popping with Metal glee! What new album artwork has you applauding lately? Share one or several and spread the Metal word here!

A couple of weeks ago (on or about) I stumbled upon seeing the new premium beer that’s coming out from the ultra legendary IRON MAIDEN. Created by IRON MAIDEN, brewed by Robinsons is: TROOPER – A Hand Crafted Ale. Kev Moore has told me that Witch Cross will have their very own brew coming out, to coincide in celebration of their new album release this Spring! Whoa!

Iron Maiden - brew - promo banner - 2013

Back in November of 2012, A Nightmare Livin’ The Dream! was released by London’s very own… KING LIZARD. This KING LIZARD band has something very cool happening with their Heavy Rock ‘N’ Roll and I’m more than happy to tell y’all about ’em.

This hell-bent-for-leather and Heavy Rockin’ band has an official trailer out called: KING LIZARD A Nightmare Makin’ The Dream that you can listen to and watch below! Whoa! Yes, that’s their album cover at the top of this post too. Metal be thy name.

Helloween - Straight Out Of Hell - promo cover pic!

HELLOWEENStraight Out Of Hell, the fourteenth studio album from HELLOWEEN, will be released on January 18th in Europe and on January 22nd in North America. All HELLOWEEN fans surely can agree, that the days leading up to the release of Straight Out Of Hell are exciting times for certain!

HELLOWEEN are currently posting a track-by-track commentary, on their facebook page, each day leading up to the release of this highly anticipated album! (Check out their facebook link at the bottom of this post). I’m probably not alone in stating: the album cover artwork for Straight Out Of Hell is absolutely kick-ass! That’s Metal! Whoa!

Martin Häusler created the front cover for Straight Out Of Hell; he also created the artwork for 7 Sinners (2010) and Gambling With The Devil (2007) as well.

As pioneers of Power Metal and widely accepted as top-tier Metal legends, HELLOWEEN’s family tree boasts both Kai Hansen (founding member) and Michael Kiske; their vocals and multi-instrumental contributions are revered among the Metal community. In my Metal opinion, HELLOWEEN can truly be labeled as a national treasure of Germany. Metal be thy name.

Wanna See My “Hell On Wheels Tour 1987” Cassette? Features: Helloween, Armored Saint and Grim Reaper!

HELL ON WHEELS TOUR 1987 – That’s it at the top! That’s my Hell On Wheels Tour 1987 cassette! This (now historical) tour featured: Grim Reaper, Armored Saint and Helloween. Whoa! As you can see, this cassette was a free sampler!. I obtained this old school Metal cassette sometime last Winter, at a thrift store. I paid a ridiculous price of 50 cents (U.S.) for this very cool cassette too. Yes, it plays just fine!

This tour was sponsored by MTV Headbangers Ball; yet there is no print or logo stating this on the cassette. The inside of the cassette jacket is blank. Notice the crack on the cassette tape box? That’s old school man!

Back in 1987, the Hell On Wheels Tour did not pass through the state I was living in; that being the very expensive state of Connecticut. Can’t see ’em all, I guess. Still, it super sucks I never saw this tour.

Here is what the spine of this cassette looks like:

Here is what the backside of the cassette tape jacket looks like:

The 3 record label logos printed on this cassette tape jacket are: RCA, Concrete and Chrysalis.

Some Metal and Rock ‘N Roll Thoughts – Sunday, September 30th, 2012

Posted in classic rock, Hard Rock, hard rock albums, Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , on September 30, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Wanna know what recently released album has psyched-me-out-of-my-Rock-‘N-Metal-mind? Just look at the above album cover! No, it’s not just the cover that has me psyched; it’s the Hard Rockin’ sonic bliss that The Darkness are playing on Hot Cakes that has put me in such a whirlwind of glee! What an album of instantly memorable songs!

This is the third studio album from this amazingly fun British band from Lowestoft and it’s a gem to feed my ears with. This Hot Cakes album has me believing that good, old-fashioned Glam/Hard Rock is alive and well once again. Do yourself a favor and buy Hot Cakes, especially if you like your Hard Rock that kicks the politically correct school of thought right in the ass!

It’s hard to believe we will be entering October tomorrow! To me, it feels like Summer was put on fast forward. With that said, I am a huge fan of Autumn and the spooky swirls of Halloween. With Halloween falling on a Wednesday (hump day) this year, it will obviously fall within two days of two weekends. I imagine that’s pretty cool, especially if you’re planning a Halloween party; you’ll basically have two weekends to choose from for your ghoulish get-together!

Once Autumn and the Halloween season begins, there are select bands and/or albums that I’ll gravitate to all the more for those creepy Rockin’ vibes! One such band is Helloween and their 1985 full-length debut: Walls Of Jericho. A Helloween classic and a classic within the pages of Heavy Metal history, this album is, in my Metal opinion.

Everything about DANZIG just screams Halloween. Seriously. From Glenn’s music, to his band logo and album artwork. I once encountered a wise-old Metal troll along a treacherous and densely wooded path in the Northern woods of Pennsylvania. This troll stated to me: “Stone, y-y-you best g-g-get some DANZIG into y-y-your F’n ears d-d-during Halloween s-s-season.” I’ll have to admit, that wise-old Metal troll was no dumb-ass.

Other albums and bands that I’ll listen to in ushering in the Halloween season: King Diamond, the 1970 debut and self-titled album from Black Sabbath, MISFITS, Iron Maiden (especially their first 3 albums), White Zombie, Rob Zombie, Six Feet Under, Cannibal Corpse, Zombiefication, Angel WitchSatyricon and… well, you get the Metal point!

Here’s a Metal news item of importance for all you REVERENCE fans out in Europe:

As reported on REVERENCE facebook on September 29th:

Reverence Cancel’s European Tour: To all the fans, promoters and venues, due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we are being forced to cancel our upcoming European tour. We were looking forward to playing for our fans and making new ones. This is something we don’t take halfheartedly and want you to know this is not the end of Reverence, we will definitely be heading to Europe in 2013. Although this seems like bad news we are taking this opportunity to begin writing new material for the next release and various other things to be heading your way in the months to come.”

Stone Says: REVERENCE is such a grand Classic Metal band! True Metal. If you haven’t picked up their debut album, When Darkness Calls, you are hereby told to do so! REVERENCE has easily earned themselves the “top-spot” for Greatest Metal Surprise Of 2012. Metal be thy name.

Donovan McNabb: Metal Odyssey Has Your Back!

Posted in football, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, metal odyssey, Music, rock music, rock music news, sports with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 7, 2010 by Metal Odyssey

Donovan McNabb – I’m getting pretty sick and tired lately of the trash talking that is directed at Donovan McNabb, quarterback for the Washington Redskins. Yes, I’m a devoted life-long fan of the New York Giants. Still, Donovan McNabb has and still is an opposing quarterback that I have feared and respected when he takes the field against the G-Men. Donovan McNabb’s lifetime statistics should tell anyone, he can… play.

As for Superbowl Championships… how many has Andy Reid, (coach of the Philadelphia Eagles), won? How about former Eagles wide receivers Terrell Owens or Freddie Mitchell? The answer is… “ZERO”. Um, that’s once again… ZERO. So, before all of these NON Superbowl winners make their comments directed at Donovan McNabb… they should all take a long look at their very own NON Superbowl winning careers themselves.

As for current Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan, he does have two Superbowl rings from his days with the Denver Broncos. However, he was also surrounded by a formidable group of NFL players during his tenure with the Broncos… and John Elway and Terrell Davis were players that don’t come around that often on draft day.

I never measured an NFL athlete by how many Superbowl rings they have won and earned. Dan Marino and Fran Tarkenton are two perfect examples as to why I can’t consider a Superbowl Championship the mark of an “ultimate” NFL player. Trent Dilfer won a Superbowl, (XXXV), as quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens… and he is NO Dan Marino. Even though my beloved New York Giants have won”3″ Superbowls… I never take for granted a champion, nor do I look down upon a Giants team that hasn’t won either.

So, Donovan, just look at the Philadelphia Eagles this season. It’s the same old status quo there. Win a game, lose a game, while coach Andy Reid never accepts responsibility or blame for a loss or NON Superbowl winning franchise. Donovan, your very fortunate to be out of that Eagles “environment”, regardless if it is with the Redskins. Just know that this is one NFL fan who actually sees and calls it… “the way it is”. You don’t have to prove anything to this NFL fan, Donovan. I’ve seen you play your whole career and you can hold your head up high… while the “cry babies” of the NFL continue to make themselves look like the spoiled and over paid whiners they truly are.

So, due to this being Metal Odyssey, I found it appropriate to dedicate a song, a Heavy Metal song, to Donovan McNabb. Helloween – Can Do It. This amazing song is from Helloween’s 2007 album – Gambling With The Devil. This song is extremely inspirational and makes me feel so damned good. Let this song be the “theme” for the rest of Donovan McNabb’s NFL career! Metal be thy name.

LONG LIVE DONOVAN MCNABB.

LONG LIVE HELLOWEEN.

HELLOWEEN “7 Sinners” Releases November 9, 2010 In U.S.! Some HELLOWEEN thoughts…

Posted in Hard Rock, hard rock albums, hard rock bands, hard rock music, Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, heavy metal bands, heavy metal music, heavy metal news, metal odyssey, Music, power metal albums, power metal bands, power metal music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 7, 2010 by Metal Odyssey

HELLOWEEN – Power Metal pioneers and ultra iconic, HELLOWEEN will be releasing their 13th full-length studio album, 7 Sinners, via The End Records, on November 9th, 2010. (This is the U.S. release date). Originating from Germany, Helloween is an influential and important band in the history of Metal. Since their 1985 album release – Walls Of Jericho, Helloween has been an undisputed leader in the Power Metal genre. I’ll never forget buying Walls Of Jericho on cassette years ago… I thought I was the coolest dude on the block for stumbling onto Helloween. Even though I have Walls Of Jericho on CD, I never let go of the cassette version.

Kai Hansen was terrific as the lead vocalist and guitarist for Helloween. (Gamma Ray obviously gets my Metal endorsement to the fullest). Michael Kiske was formidable as the lead vocalist for Helloween, his vocals on Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part I are legendary. I’d have to pick Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part I as my favorite Helloween album of all time… alright, tied with Walls Of Jericho! It’s not that easy, in choosing my favorite Helloween album of all time. (Chameleon from 1993… is not my favorite).

Yes, I even liked Unarmed – Best Of 25th Anniversary, which was released on March 30, 2010. No, it was not the Power Metal force we have all come to expect from Helloween, only this album I found to be a very cool listen. Some of the greatest Helloween songs ever, were re-structured with string arrangements and a choir. Dr. Stein really gets a Rock ‘N’ Roll makeover that I find to be a fun listen. At the end of the Metal day though, I’m sure relieved and psyched that Helloween is back, with their potent Power Metal that I’m expecting on 7 Sinners.

Andi Deris is an incredible vocalist as well, he can sing Metal lights out. Whoa… can Andi carry a note and sing the roof off. I can honestly say that Gambling With The Devil from 2007 is so powerful, that having a “three way tie” for my #1 Helloween album is Metal justified. Gambling With The Devil is simply put… riveting. Plus… I’ll throw in the Metal fact that founding member and guitarist MichaelWeiki” Weikath is a super nice guy to interview, one of the “good guys” of Metal… hands down. Kai Hansen is also a super nice guy to talk to… a genuine class act.

So, yeah, I get all pumped up anytime Helloween is about to release a new album. This is a band that I could easily write 500,000 words about and still want to write more. Seriously though, how many bands have their been in Metal, or any Rock genre for that matter, that can boast having “3” amazing lead vocalists in their bands history? Not too many I would imagine. I’m really looking forward to getting my copy of 7 Sinners… and on that day I’m going to be one psyched-out Metalhead. Those are my Metal thoughts for now about Helloween… I’m certain I’ll be reviewing 7 Sinners come November, you can bet your bottom Metal dollar on that one!

TEN VERY UNCOOL HARD ROCK & HEAVY METAL ALBUM COVERS PART II

GUESS WHO’S COMING TO DINNER?

I don’t advertise myself to be an “expert” in Hard Rock and Heavy Metal album cover design. Nor am I a photography expert either. What I do know is this… a Hard Rock or Heavy Metal album cover should entice fans or potential fans to buy the album. Skulls, flames, guitars, dragons, sword & sorcery, space aliens, monsters, spooky landscapes, the paranormal and the macabre is right up my Metal alley when it comes to album covers. You won’t find this cool stuff on the album covers below. Marketing Hard Rock and Heavy Metal should be simple, right? Well, that is not always the Metal case, as you shall see from the following list of ten very uncool album covers that I have compiled… just for you… and it’s “Part II”!

Years ago, I did earn a degree in Graphic Communications, therefore I think I know what cool Hard Rock and Heavy Metal album artwork is supposed to look like. Then again, what do I know? Some, if not many of the albums in this top ten list have probably sold millions of copies worldwide… so my opinion on these very uncool album covers is probably one big, nasty and smelly fart in the wind anyways.

* Just because an album cover is uncool, doesn’t necessarily mean that the music contained within is lousy. This list, as with the first list, only points out those Hard Rock & Heavy Metal album covers which Metal Odyssey finds so extremely boring and embarrassing that they are… well, uncool.

Here are Metal Odyssey’s Top Ten Very Uncool Hard Rock & Heavy Metal Album Covers Part II, enjoy! Or, try to enjoy.

#10:

Hard Rock Essentials: 1980’s (1995)

Wow. Is that supposed to be a guitar in the center? Um, it’s missing some parts. Ahhh! Those two skulls are so NOT scary! These aren’t the skulls and guitar that I’m looking for on an album cover! This is what a record company gets, when they don’t want to pay the $$$ for decent Hard Rock artwork. Instead, it looks like some record company gave a kindergartner the “go” on this one. Or, it’s some overpaid record executive’s fourth grade kid that did it. Either way… this artwork stinks like rotten cabbage.

#9:

Metal Church – The Human Factor (1991)

Look, anyone who knows me, knows I revere Metal Church… every Metal Church lineup too. With that said, this album cover does this Metal Church lineup NO Metal justice whatsoever. It looks like these guys are laying down on a (gulp) Disco dance floor from Saturday Night Fever. The Metal Church “classic logo” is there, only it’s not enough.

#8:

Torben Enevoldsen – Heavy Persuasion (2007)

Alright, Torben, sit right there and hold up your guitar’s neck directly in front of your face… o.k., a little to the right, hold still now, why aren’t you smiling? Sit still… done! What a picture we got! That didn’t take too long now, did it? Man, Torben, this is gonna make an awesome album cover!

#7:

Lee Aaron – Metal Queen (1984)

Um, yup. Anyways, Lee Aaron really doesn’t look like a queen here at all. Instead, let’s be real, she looks more like a lady barbarian. Where’s the queen’s clothing? Hey… that’s a cardboard sword! Is that backdrop a soiled shower curtain? Regardless, this is not the sword & sorcery I’m talkin’ about. Where’s Doro Pesch when we really need her!?

#6:

Koushik – be with

Apparently, Koushik is a Canadian electronic musician. That’s what my Metal research has uncovered. Despite the lack of Hard Rock or Heavy Metal tags associated with Koushik, this album cover is just a MUST to make this list. I should have never thrown away my kids drawings from when they were one years old. Damn, I could be selling them right now… to record companies as album covers! I could have been rich! I could understand if this cover was for Kids Bop though.

#5:

Symphonity – Voice From The Silence (2008)

Trust me… these dudes called Symphonity ROCK. However, the Power Metal & Speed Metal that this cool band is great at just does NOT resonate on this album cover. Honestly, if I did not know about this Symphonity band, I would swear this was a Gospel album.

#4:

Helloween – Chameleon (1993)

As with Metal Church, Helloween is a band that I honestly revere. Helloween invented Power Metal for Metal sakes. Helloween F’n Rules. However, Chameleon is hands down, my least favorite Helloween album ever released… and it has the worst Helloween album cover ever created. Yes… Metal be thy name.

#3:

Heavy Metal: Head Bangin’ Hits (2003)

It’s some girl wearing a Dee Snider Halloween wig and Jerry Garcia glasses. Um… not my idea of a “Heavy Metal Chick”. It’s covers like this that makes me ask… WTF?

#2:

Heart Of Metal 2 – Various Artists (2001)

Yeah, o.k., like every Metalhead out there is gonna give their sweetheart a barbed wire heart, as a token of their Metal love. Here baby… I love you baby… uh, don’t get cut on this barbed wire heart. Over the years, it never ceases to amaze me, the over zealous stereotyping that we Metalheads receive. Like we are all a bunch of cash strapped barbarians, that rummage through landfills for anniversary gifts. If I gave my wife a barbed wire heart… she would then know that I totally lost my Metal mind, plus I’d get kicked out of the house as well. Hey, not even Hot Topic sells these barbed wire hearts. Not yet anyways.

#1:

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives: Road Songs That Rock – Hand Picked by Guy Fieri (Compilation) – (2008)

F’n Whoa. Hey, I don’t need that Food Network or Guy Fieri hand picking ANY Rock, Hard Rock or Heavy Metal songs for me. Stick to eating your high cholesterol foods Guy. Plus, I don’t see the F’n connection between the Food Network and Rock ‘N’ Roll anyways. Furthermore, I NEVER connected Guy Fieri to Hard Rock, Heavy Metal or any Rock Music for that F’n matter. All of a sudden, Guy Fieri is the second coming of Wolfman Jack.

Do you think the Food Network would let me have a 30 minute show called… Cooking With Stone? Bet your Metal butt they wouldn’t. Yet it’s alright for the Food Network to set loose their “food experts” on the Hard Rock and Heavy Metal world. Gee Metal whiz.

This is a perfect example of a corporate entity getting involved where they DON’T BELONG! It’s all about the quick $$$ isn’t it Food Network? By the way… the track listing is not too shabby on this CD. I don’t own it and would never buy it… due to the Metal fact it has a damn Food Network logo on it with Guy Fieri laughing all the way to the bank… or should I say refrigerator?

Tobias Sammet & Edguy – Power Metal you cannot pass up!!

Posted in Album Review, Century Media, Edguy, Hair Metal, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Heavy Metal Reviews, Metal, Metal Reviews, Music, Power Metal, Rock, rock music, symphonic metal with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on April 13, 2009 by Metal Odyssey

92019811I look around and listen to a healthy dose of all Metal music, naturally. Power Metal has always been a staple for me, with DIO, Helloween, GammaRay, Blind Guardian, Yngwie Malsmsteen and so many others leading the way. I by no means take anything away from any other Power Metal band out there when I say that Edguy, led by Tobias Sammet, is at the top of my Power Metal play list. If I say it once, I will say it a million Metal times, Tobias Sammet is one amazing song writer and Power Metal vocalist. The brand new album from Edguy, “Tinnitus Sanctus” is for me, superb. This new release from Edguy, (January, 2009), is more edgier, dark and philosophical than their past albums have been. I sincerely recommend every studio album, live album and EP that Edguy has ever released, they are that incredible to my Metal ears.

A quality starting point for new Edguy fans would be another new release titled – “The Singles”. The songs on “The Singles” are not new, yet this compilation album is, released in early 2009. This album consists of the songs from the Edguy EP’s – “King of Fools”, “Superheroes” and “Lavatory Love Machine”. To sum up Edguy, their Power Metal is a brand of super pumped up – get psyched tunes, they are extremely melodic and extraordinarily catchy. Throw in the fact that Edguy is a group of high powered, quality musicians, complimented by Tobias Sammet’s powerful vocal brilliance and you have one of the very best of Power Metal bands on the planet today! I cannot deny the comparison of Tobias Sammet to that of the legendary Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden, the vocals are just that similar in my Metal opinion. (granted, there will always and forever be just one Bruce Dickinson).

I get the sense that, if this was the 1980’s, Edguy’s Power Metal would be all over the FM dial! It is a Metal shame that North American mainstream FM radio does not catch on to the unbelievable European Power Metal that is currently blitzing the continents today. Regardless, FM mainstream radio plays little current Metal as it is, only the Classic Metal from days gone by gets air time nowadays. (that is a good thing, at least some veteran Metal is heard on FM). My main goal with this article, of course, is to promote Edguy to the world, fuel some interest with new Edguy fans and HIGHLY RECOMMEND EDGUY to the entire Rock, Hard Rock and Metal communities!

The current Edguy lineup – Tobias Sammet on vocals, Dirk Sauer on rhythm guitar, Jens Ludwig on lead guitar, Tobias Exxel on bass guitar and Felix Bohnke on drums.
