SUBLIMINAL FEAR – To Release Their Third Studio Album “Escape From Leviathan” In May!

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, news, rock music with tags , , , , on March 21, 2016 by Metal Odyssey

Subliminal Fear - promo band pic - 2016 - #9989933ILMF

Subliminal Fear‘s new album title is Escape From Leviathan. After 2 years and a half working in studio, the third album is finally ready, with 10 tracks and they show several innovations about past musical style with a greater attention to melodies and with a modern sound. The early sound has evolved into a “cyber metal” with extreme and melodic vocals, djent guitars, a huge groove and with electronic and industrial synth. Now, the band’s line-up is composed by 2 vocalists, to express better all-around potential of the new sound, also in live shows.

The new music style of this Italian band mixes Death Metal, Electronic Music and catchy melodies and it’s for lovers of Sybreed, Mnemic and Fear Factory. The third full length has been produced, mixed and mastered by Giuseppe Dentamaro and Subliminal Fear in Golem Dungeon Studios. All keyboards, samples and programming have been arranged by Botys Beezart (Godyva).

Album’s artwork has been realized by Seth Siro Anton (Moonspell, Paradise Lost, Soilwork, Sybreed, Nile, Septicflesh), based on the lyrics concept: a futuristic and apocalyptic vision of the world and the society, inspired by movies like Terminator, Alien and Matrix.

Furthermore the album will include also the participation of international guests:

Guillaume Bideau (Mnemic, One-Way Mirror), Jon Howard (Threat Signal, Arkaea) and Lawrence Mackrory (Darkane).

The album is released both physically and digitally by a Finnish label Inverse Records on May 13th 2016.

ZEALOTRY – Signs With Lavadome Productions

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, news, rock music with tags , , , , on March 15, 2016 by Metal Odyssey

ZEALOTRY - The Last Witness - promo album cover pic - 2016 - #MO99077733ILMF

Lavadome Productions has announced the addition of Boston-based Death Metal unit Zealotry to its roster. The label has set an April 22 release for the band’s sophomore album, The Last Witness.

An album that hits on all fronts with a progressive, yet schooled brand of Death Metal mastery, The Last Witness is carved from the same flesh as some of the genre’s most important releases. Zealotry is a band that walks its own path, one that’s paved by a desire to push Death Metal to new levels, while staying true to the genre’s traditional elements.

The Last Witness brings to life a series of massive and unparalleled musical movements dense and complex enough to require repeated listens.

The Last Witness tells the story of humanity’s end, as imagined by Arthur C. Clarke (among others). It speaks of our species’ forced ascension and assimilation, compelled by the unseen, unknowable mind that tends to the cosmic clockwork and has decided the fates of countless other races.

One chapter from that story, Yliaster, is now streaming at: https://youtu.be/2Fxof7EBrSc or below:

Lavadome is proud to present such irreversible art which stands out above the norm, instead of following it in hopes there are still ears out here, thirsty to listen on repeat and slowly uncovering the mesmerizing scales of the nature presented by The Last Witness.

FLOTSAM AND JETSAM Sign With AFM Records – New album Out In May!

Flotsam And Jetsam - promo band pic - 2016 - #MO99099777ILMF

As reported by AFM Records:

U.S. Thrash Metal legends Flotsam and Jetsam have inked a worldwide deal with AFM Records. The band’s new album, simply titled “Flotsam and Jetsam” will be released on May 20th.

We’re honored that Flotsam and Jetsam have decided to join our roster. Of course we’ve followed their career for many years and always valued the band’s qualities. This new, self-titled album is a blast! We’ve been convinced right from the very first demos sent. It was obvious to us why the album is titled as it is: “Flotsam and Jetsam” holds the essence of what defines the band – this album is a statement, something to be proud of and we are proud to start working with the band with such a special release.

The band states:
“Flotsam and Jetsam really appreciated the fact that AFM laid out a legitimate, business plan for us when they made their offer to sign us. We believe they are as committed to us as a band, as we are to providing them with quality metal to get behind and promote. Along with signing to a new label, all the forward movement for the band in the last two years has also allowed us to partner with new team members; like Chris Collier of CMC21 Productions, who just completed the mixing and mastering of the album and Andy Pilkington of Very Metal Art out of the UK, for the album cover and stage production art, who are both doing a phenomenal job for us. We’re looking forward to playing the music on this album live, which hasn’t been a luxury for the band on past releases, as well as debuting our new stage look.”

PRIMAL FEAR “Rulebreaker” – A Metal Odyssey Album Review

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, news, rock music with tags , , , , on March 13, 2016 by Metal Odyssey

PRIMAL FEAR - Rulebreaker - promo album cover pic - 2016 - #MO990099ILMFM

5 Out Of 5 METAL Fists!

Metalfistredbckgrndsmall5

PRIMAL FEAR – I’ve come to the Metal conclusion that the powerful PRIMAL FEAR continues to get better and better with each new studio album they release. I’m guilty of being a PRIMAL FEAR loyalist, I’ll readily admit. Only give me a break here, in view of the fact Rulebreaker is an undeniable Metal steamroller of eleven songs. This new studio album from PRIMAL FEAR is my favorite Metal album thus far in 2016 and I don’t believe it will be unseated as such.

Rulebreaker begins with Angels Of Mercy and this commanding song sets the Metal stage for the remainder of the album. There’s a trio of world-class guitarists (Magnus Karlsson, Alex Beyrodt, Tom Naumann) in PRIMAL FEAR that gives Rulebreaker its jaw dropping Metal spirit. Holy Metal shit are there countless mouth watering riffs, leads, rhythms and solos that catapult from this album! I thank my Metal stars every night that these songs were written and recorded by PRIMAL FEAR. My Metal God, I do.

Primal Fear - promo band pic - 2016 - #MO99ILMF6996

The title track and The End Is Near are just two song examples that feature the great Ralf Scheepers falsetto. Ralf is all over this entire album with his ignited vocals! My favorite song on Rulebreaker is the 10:45 epic: We Walk Without Fear. The progressive style intro gives way to what PRIMAL FEAR do best and that’s shred, sing and pound their Metal brilliance straight through my Metal psyche. Spectacular song it is, in my Metal world.

It wouldn’t be a PRIMAL FEAR album without a killer song titled In Metal We Trust. (Ha, ha). Rulebreaker finishes with a fast and hefty song titled: Raving Mad. Honestly, this album does not give me a moment to catch my Metal breath. I speak Metal truth, here. I can’t see how any Metal loving human being out there can pass over this album.

The renowned Matt Sinner on bass and backing vocals along with Francesco Jovino on drums explode their beats, creating every reason to bang my multi decades old Metal head into Metal rapture! Whoa. In conclusion, Rulebreaker is a True Power Metal album for the Metal ages. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone

THE MOUNTAIN MAN “Bloodlust” EP – A Metal Odyssey Album Review

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, news, rock music with tags , , , , , on March 12, 2016 by Metal Odyssey

The Mountain Man - Bloodlust EP - 2016 - promo album cover pic - #MO9999ILN

5 Out Of 5 METAL Fists!

Metalfistredbckgrndsmall5

Vancouver’s THE MOUNTAIN MAN are releasing their debut EP, Bloodlust, on Friday, March 25th, 2016. Bloodlust is a five song EP; one that has been searing my brain tissue with a welcomed and mega potent dosage of Extreme Metal. If you’re into the Extreme side of the Metal highway (like I am), you’re gonna be one jubilant, Metal loving, son of a bitch over THE MOUNTAIN MAN. Seriously. I never knew this band existed and now I cannot stop playing their debut EP! FU$K YEAH!

THE MOUNTAIN MAN features Tevyn Pacey on bass, Ryan McCreedy on drums, Parker on vocals, Tyson Tambellini on rhythm guitar and Jordan Orr on lead guitar. These guys came up with some memorable songs of Metal extremity and it’s all not run-of-the-mill stuff either. Insane riffs, blast beats, vocals and break downs abound with a relentless assault of sonic mayhem! Yeah, it’s all here and ready to kick your Metal ass into next month.

The Mountain Man - promo band pic - 2016 - #MO9933ILN

Not one song sucks or even comes close to being average here; this entire Bloodlust EP is killer fuc*ing stuff! There really is nothing else to say, other than buy this EP and go chop a tree down while feeding it to your ears. Think: Lamb Of God meets Pantera and eats Breaking Benjamin and Staind for snacks, while shoving Grammy awards straight up the assholes of Hollywood’s elite. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone

ZAMBONI – NY/NJ Crossover Thrashers Releasing Debut Album In April

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, news, rock music with tags , , , , on March 11, 2016 by Metal Odyssey

Zamboni - promo album cover pic - 2016 - #MO99099

NJ/NY Crossover Thrashers ZAMBONI will release their rowdy self-titled debut album on April 15. Featuring the bombastic bass and booming vocals of Chris Butera, and the RAMONES-esque buzzsaw riffing guitars of Robert Orr, the album can be pre-ordered and a new song (“The Greater Evil”) streamed at the link below:

https://zamboni.bandcamp.com/album/zamboni

The album will also be available for pre-orders beginning March 18 through iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, CD Baby, and other online retailers.

ZAMBONI began recording their self-titled debut in 2014, with a myriad of issues and time constraints leading to drummer Robert Padilla’s unofficial departure and a plethora of delays. Two years later, the album is finally complete and ready to cause riots in the streets. Due to the band’s longstanding drummer dilemmas, Orr and Butera have decided to go the route of Agoraphobic Nosebleed and both record and play live with programmed drums – proving once and for all that no band is more awful than the dreaded ZAMBONI.

ZAMBONI will play their CD Release Show April 13 at The Meatlocker in Montclair, NJ.

Track List:

The Meaning of Life

Nuclear Hatred

Brain Hemorrhage

Norman Bates

Killer Croc

Hailing from Brooklyn, NY and Wantage, NJ comes the worst band ever to attempt any form of music – Zamboni.

Zamboni - promo live band pic - 2016 - #MO7773399ILMF

ZAMBONI BIO:

Formed in October 2010, the crossover two-piece began life in the ashes of Butera’s former thrash metal band Obliterator, whom Orr once saw open for Hexen, Mantic Ritual and Rattlehead at The Meatlocker in Montclair, NJ. Butera had a vision for something “so stupid and offensive it had to work.” Fusing a lethal cocktail with ingredients ranging from Carnivore and D.R.I. to NWA and the Wu Tang Clan, Zamboni’s original lineup consisted of Butera, Orr and drummer “Nuclear” Nathan Wolff, releasing the “Blood on the Ice” demo, the “Mother of the Resistance EP,” their live album “Live Stupidity” and finally, “Sucks! The Stupid EP” before Wolff left the band due to career and personal reasons.

Zamboni would perform sporadically utilizing various live drummers from either other bands on the same bill or outright pulling random people out of the crowd before Butera would meet Roger Padilla at an Obituary concert in 2012. Padilla joined Zamboni shortly after and the band continued playing occasional gigs that they would book themselves, mostly to “help out underground touring bands that were coming though the area and needed a show.” Among these bands were Texas’ Insinnerator and Terrorist, Boston’s Sonic Pulse, Sweden’s Six In Line and Alabama’s Cancerslug. Zamboni would also organize and run the annual “Thrash Bash BBQ” festival – which is in its fifth year currently.

EXTERMINATION TEMPLE – Lifeless Forms EP By Obscure Swedish Death Metal Soloist Now Available And Playing In Its Entirety

Posted in Death Metal, Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, news, rock music with tags , , , , on March 5, 2016 by Metal Odyssey

Extermination Temple - Lifeless Forms EP - promo cover pic - 2016 - #MO99099

The new Lifeless Forms EP by ambiguous Swedish Death Metal solo outfit EXTERMINATION TEMPLE is out today and available to hear in its demoralizing entirety.

The cryptic EXTERMINATION TEMPLE is another project from the same artist who crafts the Blackened Hardcore madness of Broken Cross, and while the outfit’s self-titled 2014 cassette demo was an equal mix of Black and Death Metal, the impending Lifeless Forms 7″ is undoubtedly overall more Death Metal.

Self-produced and recorded by the artist, the creepy and twisted sound carries direct influences from old-school Swedish Death Metal, with elements of hardcore and experimental/atmospheric influences. Lyrically contemplating such subjects as death, mental illness, and morbidity, the appropriately malevolent cover artwork was created by Dwid Hellion (Integrity, Vermapyre).

In an early premiere of the EP’s “Physical Torture,” No Clean Singing proclaimed, “The guitar leads move from moans to shrieks, with whammy-bar solos swooping and diving like fire-bombers. The pacing changes, accelerating into thrashing assaults with deep, drilling riffs and then dropping back into that huge, pile-driving rumble. And the vocals? Utterly deranged. A menagerie of agonized howls and skin-splitting shrieks that sound exactly like someone undergoing… physical torture.”

About.com’s Heavy Metal sector just posted a 4/5 review of the EP which includes, “EXTERMINATION TEMPLE‘s diseased Death Metal is of a strain purists can get behind. Gnarly and unforgiving, it’s sure to give the ole neck a workout… Lifeless Forms is a nasty little chunk of Swedeath that has this writer excited for more.” Metal Rules agreed with a 4/5 review as well: “An intersection of traditional Swede-death and crusty blackened thrash, it’s a surprisingly well crafted DIY project… the four tracks on Lifeless Forms seethe like a hybrid of early Dismember, Bathory, and Discharge… each tune charging hard and fast with tempered groove and fiery, full-throated exaltations of evil.”

The red vinyl 7″ pressing of Lifeless Forms has been slightly delayed, with preorders available HERE, while the digital download is now available HERE. Both versions are released through Apocalyptic Visions, the DIY label operated by the EXTERMINATION TEMPLE architect.

TYFON’S DOOM Signs With Gates Of Hell

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, news, rock music with tags , , , , on February 29, 2016 by Metal Odyssey

Tyfons Doom - band logo - 2016 - #MO990033MFR

Finnish Heavy Metal entity Tyfon’s Doom has signed a deal with Cruz Del Sur Music subsidiary, Gates of Hell.

Tyfon’s Doom is a one-man band that brings to the table an obscure and unpolished style of traditional Heavy Metal. Tommi Varsala, the man behind this project, was able to capture the original spirit of Metal like only a few other bands in today’s scene. While influences such as Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate and early Metal Church are apparent, Tyfon’s Doom sounds incredibly fresh and personal.

With brilliant songwriting, great guitar work and gritty vocal style, Tyfon’s Doom will bring you back to a time when you were discovering amazing new bands by looking through the Metal LPs at your local record store.

More details about Tyfon’s Doom can be found on this interesting interview, featured on Norwegian’s Metal Squadron blog (posted HERE).

The debut EP from Tyfon’s Doom, Yeth Hound, will be released in late April/early May on limited compact disc and vinyl and will include the Demo ’15 as bonus tracks.

Yeth Hound is digitally available at: tyfonsdoom.bandcamp.com.

Gates of Hell Records is a sub-label of Cruz Del Sur Music and devoted to the old spirit of Heavy Metal, a particular aversion for fashion, trends and contamination.

CASTLE FREAK - promo band pic - 2016 - #MO77766099ILMF

Philadelphia’s CASTLE FREAK have teamed up with Toilet ov Hell to unleash their brand new track “Human Hive”, the title track from their forthcoming EP. The track is a gore-obsessed slab of death metal goodness for fans of bands such as Repulsion, Pungent Stench, Nirvana 2002 and Impetigo.

Stream Human Hive here: http://www.toiletovhell.com/track-premiere-castle-freaks-human-hive/

Vocalist Andrew Gigan had the following to say about the track:

“This was the first song Zak and I got together and wrote for the new EP, and the first song we had written together in over a year. The lyrics describe a corpse being resurrected by vile insects who use the body to spread their buzzing colony. We called it Human Hive and liked the name so much we decided to make it the title track to the EP.”

Human Hive is set to be released digitally and on limited edition cassette on March 19 2016.

CASTLE FREAK:

Andrew Gigan – Guitar/Vocals
Zak Carter – Guitar
Ben Anft – Bass

Minneapolis Progressive Metal band GRACEPOINT will release sophomore album Echoes on April 8. Three new songs from the album are now streaming at this location or below:

Drawing on a wide array of influences from classic heavy rock and metal, thrash and death metal, and a variety of progressive bands from the 70s through today, GRACEPOINT has forged a heavy and rhythmically complex sound that remains focused and accessible. While debut album  Science of Discontent had a raw, underground sound, Echoes is the result of a collaboration with legendary producer/engineer Neil Kernon (QUEENSRYCHE, NEVERMORE, CANNIBAL CORPSE, etc).

Pre-order the Echoes CD at:

Since the release of  Science of Discontent, Minneapolis based GRACEPOINT has continued to develop their distinctive approach to Progressive Metal. The goal from the inception of the band has been to create music that will be appreciated by both musicians and the average Metal head.

Bass player Sam Van Moer and drummer Lance Reed form a musical foundation rich in both syncopation and groove. Guitarists Lon Kunze and Stefan Radzilowski deal in aggressive and complex riffs while placing a clear emphasis on strong rhythmic and melodic phrasing. Together, the band tempers a myriad of time signature changes with groove, melodic sense, and concise song structures thereby forming the backdrop for the clear and powerful vocals of singer Matt Tennessen who brings another level of emotional depth and color to the music.

5 OUT OF 5 METAL FISTS!

Metalfistredbckgrndsmall5

BRAINSTORM – Germany’s unwavering Power Metal band BRAINSTORM have released their eleventh studio album, this past January, via the mighty AFM Records. This new album’s title is Scary Creatures and the front cover artwork is 100% Metal! Just stare at that album cover for a few seconds, whoa!

The powerful vocals of Andy B. Franck is one amazing reason to buy this album; he can hit the hight notes with the very best of them. The speedy, immensely entertaining and melodic guitar talents of Torsten Ihlenfeld and Milan Loncaric are another HUGE reason to buy Scary Creatures. Unreal. The rhythm section of Antonio Ieva on bass and Dieter Bernert on drums only enhances the maximum Power Metal bliss I’ve been enjoying from this new BRAINSTORM release. Yes, that’s maximum Power Metal bliss!

BRAINSTORM - promo band pic - 2016 - #MO99ILMFP3399

What a gifted band BRAINSTORM is. There honestly is no filler moments on Scary Creatures, in my Metal opinion. This is a Power Metal album that has excited me from beginning to end! BRAINSTORM has taken me on a non-stop ride into Power Metal paradise! From the title track to Sky Among The Clouds, I honestly cannot believe how intense this album freaking ROCKS!! I will be playing this BRAINSTORM album forever, my Metal brethren!

If you’re a Power Metal loyalist and believe Helloween, Manowar, Doro, Iron Savior and Primal Fear are all gifts from the Metal Gods, you will no doubt become a true believer in BRAINSTORM; that is if you haven’t already. Metal be thy name. – Stone

ALLFATHER – Sign With Static Tension Recordings

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, news, rock music with tags , , , , on February 21, 2016 by Metal Odyssey

ALLFATHER - promo band pic - 2016 - #ILMF9903309

UK-based Metallic Sludge/Hardcore band ALLFATHER are pleased to announce that they have signed with Static Tension Recordings to release the CD and cassette version of their upcoming album Bless the Earth with Fire in North America.

The album contains six tracks of blistering Metal that sounds like a cross between Black Sabbath and Corrosion of Conformity, mixed in a blender with High on Fire and Hardcore Punk. Bless the Earth with Fire is set to be released on April 29th. The album will include the previously released bonus track “Blood Red Sunset” which you can stream here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpBjJSL9jNI

Frontman Tom Ballard said about the album: “When we started the band our goal was to write a few songs and play a couple of shows that weren’t shit. The fact two and a bit years later we get the opportunity to release a record with Static Tension is straight up fucking brilliant.”

ALLFATHER - Bless The Earth With Fire - promo album cover pic - 2016 - #MO99033966

ABOUR ALLFATHER:

The light is dying and if you’re going to rage against it, you’ll need all the furious volume you can muster. Dealing out titanic riffs and lacerating vocals since 2014, Allfather combine Sludge Metal nihilism with Hardcore Punk aggression and full on Metal stomp to forge a harsh yet defiant soundtrack to the darkest of times.

From humble beginnings, Allfather have honed their line-up into a hard-hitting five piece, channeling heavyweight song craft through a classic dual guitar assault. Allfather’s members come from a variety of musical backgrounds and draw on a range of influences, but the band’s sound coalesces around riff-driven Metal, with the likes of  High On Fire, Nails, Black Breath, Iron Monkey and Electric Wizard forming musical touchstones. Lyrically the band’s concerns spring from a burning frustration at the times we live in, with occasional forays into the tortured minds of Dostoevskian madmen and vengeful gods.

When they’re not locked in the Allfather practice bunker summoning up riffs, the band’s members work day jobs and raise families, while still finding the time to share stages with the likes of Cold World, Venom Prison, Title Fight and The Moth. The mix of Punk and Metal encapsulated by those bands informed the sound of forthcoming release Bless the Earth With Fire. This new EP, the follow-up to Allfather’s debut release No Gods. No Masters, signifies a significant step up in intensity and ambition, marking the next step in the band’s journey into the gathering darkness.
