Creatures were originally formed in the summer of 2019 in the city of Curitiba. Like most places in Brazil, the scene there is dominated by extreme metal. However, there are some small “pockets of resistance” carrying the torch for more of a traditional heavy metal sound and Creatures (along with a group called Trovão) is one of the most talented of the lot.

After having issued a few singles, Bart Gabriel offered the band a deal to release their debut album from 2021 through his former label, Iron Oxide Records. The follow-up Creatures II is now due to be released on High Roller Records

Creatures II was recorded between September 2024 and March 2025 at Heavy Tron Studio, by Arthur Migotto (Hazy Hamlet). It was produced by Mateus Cantaleano and Migotto. Mateus Cantaleano wrote all the music and lyrics. The line-up on the recording was Marc Brito (vocals), Mateus Cantaleano (guitar), Ricke Nunes (bass), and Sidnei Dubiella (drums). There were also a few special guests, like Caio Vidal on keyboards and Arthur Migotto himself doing some additional vocals.

“Musically, I’d say the album is literally a mix of heavy metal and hard rock, with a darker, more evil vibe,” explains guitarist Mateus Cantaleano. “It carries what I believe is the essence of the band, dynamic songs that combine riffs with arpeggios, catchy choruses with darker minor melodies. Something like that, I think.”

Creatures were once described as a mixture of Dokken, Ratt and Judas Priest, a description Mateus Cantaleano can live with: “Absolutely, that’s true. Those bands, especially Dokken and Judas Priest, are very important in my life, and I carry their influence, even indirectly, in almost everything I do. Of course, I always aim for inspiration, not copying either of them exactly.”

Comparing Creatures I and Creatures II, the guitar player continues: “I’d say Creatures II is a bit heavier, darker, and a more mature album than its predecessor. While the first album was recorded just by me and Roberto, this time we had a full band involved. Both albums share the same essence – very dynamic songs, heavy tracks, power ballads, lots of vocal harmonies, catchy choruses, wild guitar solos, and so on. To me, ‘Beware The Creatures’ is the track that best sums up what I’m aiming for musically with Creatures.”

DISSENTIENCE Unleashes First Single “Obsidian Tomb” From Upcoming EP Kaiju

Posted in Death Metal, death metal bands, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , on October 12, 2025 by Metal Odyssey

Bethlehem, PA metal act DISSENTIENCE has released “Obsidian Tomb,” the crushing first single from their forthcoming concept EP Kaiju, due out February 20, 2026, accompanied by a brand-new lyric video available below:

DISSENTIENCE “Obsidian Tomb”https://youtu.be/LfkYsbFSZfA

A blistering blend of thrash aggression, death metal precision, and cinematic atmosphere, “Obsidian Tomb” serves as the opening chapter in Kaiju’s apocalyptic narrative. The song begins with a somber acoustic passage before erupting into a relentless assault of blast beats, crushing riffs, and haunting melodies. Lyrically, the track captures the first moments of devastation as a colossal, nameless monster emerges from the depths to annihilate an unsuspecting city.

Rather than grounding the story in a specific place or era, DISSENTIENCE leaves the monster and setting deliberately vague, allowing listeners to project their own fears into the music. The result is a track that feels as timeless as it is terrifying.

Kaiju – Track-list:

  1. Obsidian Tomb
  2. Chaos Absolute
  3. Kaiju
  4. Death Shroud

Kaiju is a four-track concept EP inspired by Japanese monster cinema and Lovecraftian horror. Produced by the band alongside Corey Pierce, the record was engineered by Matt Menafro at Peach Pie Sound, mixed by Zeuss, and mastered by Alan Douches. The full EP will be released independently on digital and CD formats.

About DISSENTIENCE:

Formed in 2013 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, DISSENTIENCE is a progressive death-thrash metal band that combines the technical precision of death metal with the relentless energy of thrash. Rejecting retro imitation and genre stagnation, the band creates forward-thinking metal that is both aggressive and dynamic.

Drawing influence from bands like TRIVIUM, REVOCATION, SYLOSIS, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, DEATH, and LAMB OF GOD, DISSENTIENCE forges a sound built on sharp riffs, crushing rhythms, and inventive songwriting.

The lineup features Connor Valentin on guitar and vocals, James Vitale on guitar, Sean Langer on bass, and Nick Scherden on drums. Known for their intense live performances and refusal to be confined to a single subgenre, the band continuously pushes their sound in new directions. Their music balances chaos and melody while exploring dark themes through a modern lens.

ØVI Unleashes “Lilith” – the Venomous Opening Track from Upcoming EP Hedera Helix

Posted in Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , on October 11, 2025 by Metal Odyssey

ØVI returns with “Lilith,” the searing first single from their forthcoming 2026 EP, Hedera Helix. A venomous ode to entanglement and emotional toxicity, “Lilith” sets the tone for an uncompromising and cathartic body of work.

Serving as the opening chapter of the EP, “Lilith” captures the seductive yet suffocating presence of manipulative forces and is a reflection on those who exploit vulnerability under the guise of intimacy. ØVI draws on the haunting image of poison ivy to illustrate how these figures creep in, beautiful yet parasitic, until they are finally confronted and cut away. It’s a track where attraction collides with revulsion, and clarity rises from the ashes of rage.

Driven by razor-sharp lyricism and a visceral soundscape, “Lilith” pulses with fury honed into focus, anger transformed into power. The track is accompanied by a cinematic music video that further delves into its themes of entrapment, temptation, and liberation, mirroring the song’s spiraling tension and eventual rupture.

Watch “Lilith” Here: https://youtu.be/Hz6hFHDXON4

“Lilith” also features prominently in the upcoming independent film The Roughneck, adding yet another layer of depth and resonance to the track’s uncompromising energy.

Named after the ivy plant known for its relentless spread and permanence, Hedera Helix is ØVI’s boldest work to date. Across four tracks, the EP explores toxic relationships, parasitic dynamics, and the reclamation of self. Each song vines outward with unchecked intensity, echoing the ivy’s invasive sprawl, not to destroy, but to mark, to grow, and to survive.

Rather than wallow in despair, Hedera Helix transforms pain into propulsion. It’s a soundtrack of confrontation, of breaking cycles, and of embracing rage as a form of renewal. ØVI’s message is clear: vulnerability is not weakness and survival is not silence.

About ELLENDE:
Ellende, founded multi-instrumentalist L.G. in Graz, Austria, began its journey with the debut EP Rückzug in die Innerlichkeit thirteen years ago. Originally conceived as an introverted, misanthropic, and anonymous project, Ellende has since grown into an internationally recognized live act with session musicians, firmly rooted in the atmospheric black metal genre.

While grounded in black metal, Ellendeʼs sound incorporates classical instrumentation such as strings and grand piano, often pushing beyond the boundaries of what is considered traditional within the style.

Over the years, Ellende has released six full-length albums and three EPs. They achieved four official chart positions (Austria: #14, #21; Germany: #31, #37) with recent full-lengths, while the band has performed more than 120 international shows and reached over two million Spotify streams in the past year.

The lyrical themes have evolved alongside the music. From early reflections on misanthropy, nature, and isolation to later explorations of human nature, social criticism, war, loss, despair, and dementia. The upcoming full-length album Zerfall portrays the state of being shattered into fragments and the slow, painful process of rebuilding oneself: a confrontation with the void and ultimately a triumph over it. Shaped also by a tragic event in the life of its mastermind, Ellendeʼs work continues to fuse raw intensity with profound emotional depth.

Finnish Melodic Death Metal band OBSCURE FATE To Release Debut Album Later In 2026 | “Age of Delusion” Single Now Streaming

Finnish melodic death metal act Obscure Fate is about to release their debut album Shades of a Dying World. The release date will be announced later by Inverse Records. The first single “Age of Delusion” is unleashed today and it’s available here: https://push.fm/fl/obscure-fate-age-of-delusion

The band comments:
“Age of Delusion is a dystopian and cynical view of the modern world. It criticizes those in power (politicians, the media, religion) who manipulate the masses with lies, fear, and illusions. The truth is lost and freedom is just an illusion. The song is both a warning and an accusation. Who benefits from all this, and why are people blind to it?”

Obscure Fate – Age of Delusion (single 2025) Single cover by Jarno Lahti

Credits:

Composed by Kaleva Kovalainen & Antti Möttönen
Lyrics by Tapio Möttönen

Mixed by Tero “TeeCee” Kinnunen and Mastered by Mika Jussila, Finnvox Studiot Oy

BAND BIOGRAPHY:

Obscure Fate was originally formed in 2008 in Paltamo, Finland, as the solo project of guitarist and songwriter Kaleva Kovalainen. In 2009, drummer Jari Keränen and bassist Petri Möttönen joined, giving the songs their first real band form. Shortly after, guitarist Joni Moisanen and vocalist Tapio Möttönen became official members, and together the group arranged dozens of tracks for full band performances. From the very beginning, Tapio handled the lyrics, with Petri contributing to the song Spectral Exile.

The current lineup was completed in 2019 when bassist Antti Möttönen replaced Petri. Musically, Obscure Fate is rooted in traditional melodic death metal, though elements of thrash and classic heavy metal also find their way into the band’s sound. Kaleva’s prolific songwriting provided a strong foundation for the band, while the lyrics explore themes of social criticism, fictional storytelling, and inner struggles.

In 2021, Obscure Fate released their first EP. Recording sessions for their debut full-length album began soon after, but due to various setbacks the process turned into a long and seemingly endless project. Finally, in April 2025, the band reached the final stages of completing the album, marking an important milestone in their journey. The debut album Shades of a Dying World is set to be released later in 2026 via Inverse Records

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , on August 20, 2025 by Metal Odyssey

VANISHMENT are the latest signings to M-Theory Audio. The Seattle-based band has a lot of band member experience and are readying the release of their second album for January 2026.

“For our second album, Vanishment wanted to partner up with a like-minded label with an outstanding roster, so naturally M-Theory was one of the first labels we reached out to. Little did we know that our metal brothers from Seattle, Lacabra, had just inked a deal with M-Theory at that time. When Marco hit us back with that news, we were absolutely certain this was the right fit. Fast forward a few months, and we’re very stoked for the future of this partnership!

VANISHMENT take pride in delivering a combination of DIY attitude, relentlessly heavy songs and a face-melting live experience that leaves an indelible mark upon all in its path. Consisting of members who participated in past bands like Himsa, Lair Of The Minotaur, Hell Promise, Trial, Earthen Grave and more the group brings a maturity and understanding without losing its primal edge that combined with their melodic values concocts an infectious combination sure to appeal to a variety of metalheads young and old.

To give you that impression check VANISHMENT out on today’s premiere of first single “Scarred In Fate” on any and all streaming/download music platforms or better its accompanying music video HERE https://youtu.be/woVDCFOsdFI

“The first single from our second album ‘..And Now We Die’ is also the first song on the album. Entitled ‘Scarred in Fate,’ we believe the song is representative of the new album, and offers a glimpse into the band’s evolving sound and intensity. It was written while watching romantic comedies and drinking copious amounts of red wine. NOT! This is fucking METAL. This song is a banger. Enjoy!

From POWERWOLF Facebook:

“We always knew that no words or short recap videos could truly capture what we experienced together during the “Wolfsnächte 2024” tour. Every night was its own kind of magic – still, we wanted to find a way to hold on to those memories and share them in the most powerful way possible. That’s why we decided to record the full, massive, sold-out show at the Olympiahalle in Munich – to preserve just a piece of what we all felt on this tour.”

“Wildlive (Live at Olympiahalle) will be released on March 6, 2026 on DVD/Blu-ray, in various beautiful audio formats and digitally. This is more than a live release. It’s a tribute and manifestation to the moments we created together.”
