UNEARTH – Drops Intense New Video for “Eradicator” Off Their Critically Acclaimed Album ‘The Wretched; The Ruinous’

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, metalcore, Music, music news with tags , , , , , on February 2, 2024 by Metal Odyssey

Metalcore titans UNEARTH proudly present their latest video for “Eradicator,” a standout track from their formidable album, The Wretched; The Ruinous. The video, showcasing the band’s relentless energy and unique artistry, is now available for viewing HERE.

Following the success of The Wretched; The Ruinous, UNEARTH continues to push boundaries, both musically and thematically. The album, lauded for its incisive commentary on global issues, stands as a testament to the band’s ability to blend aggressive sounds with thought-provoking lyrics.

Fans can access the album HERE.

Reflecting on the new video, vocalist Trevor Phipps says, “Since our new album The Wretched; The Ruinous was released ‘Eradicator’ has been posted and reposted more than any other track on the record by you all. Because of this we hit up our good friend Daniel Vandal from Kreact to shoot another live themed video (Incinerate) for us across the Canadian provinces of Quebec and Ontario. The footage captures the high energy, and mayhem (Barrie), our Canadian friends always bring to our shows north of the border. Check out ‘Eradicator’ now and see you on the road.”

The album The Wretched; The Ruinous delves into pressing global concerns, as Phipps explains: “The Wretched; The Ruinous is about the eight billion people on this planet. We’ve created a man-made mass extinction event and have been too slow to correct our faults. Extreme weather, drought, famine, disease, erosion of land, culture wars, civil wars, wars for natural resources, and the displacement of billions of people, is all a current reality. This isn’t a future problem; it is a now problem and I take this record to talk about it.”

UNEARTH‘s new video for “Eradicator” is more than just a musical statement; it’s a visual journey into the heart of what makes them one of metal’s most enduring and relevant acts.

The Wretched, The Ruinous – Track List:

The Wretched; The Ruinous
Cremation of the Living
Eradicator
Mother Betrayal
Invictus
Call of Existence
Dawn of the Militant
Aniara
Into the Abyss
Broken Arrow

ALLEGAEON is set to enter the studio next week alongside original vocalist Ezra Haynes to record their seventh full-length album with longtime producer Dave Otero (Flatline Audio).

Fans can catch live video updates throughout the recording process on instagram.com/allegaeonofficial as well as special inside looks on their Patreon on patreon.com/allegaeon.

Guitarist Greg Burgess comments, “We are really excited to get back in the studio with Dave and get to work. The album is shaping up to be a strong amalgamation of songs across the discography. Some songs sound like they would be at home on Formshifter and some sound like they are straight off of DAMNUM. It’s a very exciting time to be in ALLEGAEON and we can’t wait for everyone to hear this record.”

Adds Haynes, “It has been a decade since I’ve had the pleasure of creating a full-length album with the boys. The chemistry of this lineup is nothing I’ve experienced before and there’s a lot to unpack with this new album. A decade’s worth of experiences, and I’m finally ready to share it with the fine folk of the metal community. 2024 is really shaping up and I couldn’t be more excited. Here’s to lucky #7!”

German Power Metal Titans MASTERPLAN Return With Brand New Song “Rise Again”! Soon On Tour In Europe With FIREWIND!

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, Power Metal with tags , , , , , on January 26, 2024 by Metal Odyssey

German power metal titans MASTERPLAN, who will not only embark on an extensive European tour with FIREWIND kicking off this February, return with a brand new song, entitled Rise Again! An official lyric video is now premiering below.

Following the band’s colossal anniversary edition, a reissue of their memorable debut re-released in 2023 via AFM Records, today, MASTERPLAN are sharing their new single Rise Again – an epic, powerful and hopefully first harbinger of a new album to follow in the not so distant future!

Founding member and guitarist, Roland Grapow, reveals:

After almost 10-11 years of silence, we are ready to burst onto the heavy metal scene again. We missed the audience and new emotions. This song is about how we felt during the last period. Everything in the world changes so quickly that sometimes it is very difficult to understand where you belong. And it seems that you are talented and worthy of success, but you begin to doubt yourself. And this is a big mistake.

As usual and in the Masterplan style, we try to be positive and this is the main goal of our creativity. We want to inspire our fans to find the strength to overcome life’s challenges. Rise Again is the song about hope, life and better things to come, it’s like a phoenix rising from the ashes.“

“Rise Again” is out now on all digital streaming services via https://masterplan.bfan.link/rise-again

The new MASTERPLAN lyric video is premiering HERE

Make sure to catch MASTERPLAN and FIREWIND live on their upcoming

Century Media Records Welcomes ORBIT CULTURE To Their Roster

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news with tags , , , , , on January 20, 2024 by Metal Odyssey

Century Media Records is proud to announce the signing of Sweden’s modern metal standard bearers, ORBIT CULTURE. Hailing from the small town of Eksjö, Sweden (located between the revered metal cities of Gothenburg and Stockholm), the quartet (guitarist and vocalist Niklas Karlsson, guitarist Richard Hansson, bassist Fredrik Lennartsson and drummer Christopher Wallerstedt) have grown into a global force, melding together, riffs that are equal parts thrash, death metal and industrial with arresting hooks and a layered atmosphere that invites comparison to GOJIRA, METALLICA and STATIC-X while carving out something that is uniquely their own.

ORBIT CULTURE’s 2023 album, Descent and its subsequent EP release, The Forgotten topped many recent year-end lists including Metal Hammer who described the album as: “a formidable entwining of modern metal’s most effective and exciting strands into an impressive milestone.” Exhaustive worldwide touring and a steady stream of crowd-pummeling festival slots across the globe, have set the stage for something much larger.

Says ORBIT CULTURE: “Century Media is home to some of today’s biggest metal bands out there and we couldn’t be any happier to be part of their roster. We look forward to bringing you new music in the future and working closely together with Century Media’s world class team!”

“Watching ORBIT CULTURE’s rise to becoming one of the greatest new metal bands in the world and now working with them is inspiring,” states Philipp Schulte, Century Media Vice President and Global Head. “I’ve personally been a fan since the beginning. They are part of both metal and Century Media’s future in a very exciting way.”

Before initiating work on their next LP and Century Media debut, ORBIT CULTURE will tour North America with legendary metal acts, MACHINE HEAD and FEAR FACTORY as well as newcomers GATES TO HELL on the “Slaughter The Martout” tour. The US and Canadian run will continue the Swedish band’s exhaustive work in the territory which has included tours with IN FLAMES and AVATAR and won ORBIT CULTURE a rabid fan-base and high placement on Sirius XM’s Liquid Metal “Devil’s Dozen” year-end chart. At the time of this announcement, the band is #1 on Sirius XM’s Liquid Metal Following the U.S. tour, ORBIT CULTURE will then embark on an extensive tour of Europe, fittingly titled, the “Descending Into Madness” tour.

“We are beyond excited to be working with ORBIT CULTURE and their team at 5B (Management),” adds Mike Gitter, Century Media Vice President of A&R, North America. “They’ve carved an indelible mark on the worldwide metal scene through vision, determination, and hard work. They’re not merely a band leading the charge for extreme music right now – they’re a band that will lead that charge for many years to come.”

LORD DYING – “Clandestine Transcendence” Full-Length Out Today On MNRK Heavy!

Posted in Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news with tags , , , , , , on January 19, 2024 by Metal Odyssey

Today marks the official unveiling of Clandestine Transcendence, the latest full-length studio offering from Portland, Oregon-based progressive sludge metal conjurors, LORD DYING.

The second installment of a planned trilogy, Clandestine Transcendence picks up where 2019’s critically adored Mysterium Tremendum left off. Mysterium Tremendum began a narrative centered on a central character the band calls The Dreamer, an immortal being who wants to die. On Clandestine Transcendence, he gets that wish and explores what happens beyond death.

Woven throughout the songs, that story and its rich thematic material inform a wholly immersive listen where tension, drama, and atmosphere abound. The massive scope and melodic vocals found across the record expand upon the band’s already singular sound while sharpened songwriting, emphasizing hooks, helps push both extremes of the band beyond prior limits. Simply put, the softer side is even dreamier; the heavy side is twice as brutal.

On Clandestine Transcendence, LORD DYING co-founders Erik Olson (guitar, vocals) and Chris Evans (guitar) are joined by Alyssa Maucere (former bassist for Eight Bells) and Kevin Swartz (current drummer of Tithe). Produced by Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou (High On Fire, Code Orange, Kvelertak) at his God City Studios, the twelve-track offering steps even further into the great unknown, filled with riffs and vibes.

Clandestine Transcendence is available on CD, LP, and digital formats through MNRK Heavy. Find ordering options at THIS LOCATION.

Watch the band’s previously released videos for “I AM NOTHING, I AM EVERYTHING,” “The Endless Road Home,” and “The Universe Is Weeping” HERE.

Housecore Records Recording Artists NEST, CHILD BITE, And SNAFU To Open Select PANTERA Shows Next Month!

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news with tags , , , , , on January 9, 2024 by Metal Odyssey

Heavy metal icons Pantera will return to the stage this February on the second leg of their North American headlining tour with special guest, Lamb Of God. Much like last Summer’s run, each show will feature an opening performance by one of three Housecore Records recording artists on select dates.

Housecore Records was founded by Pantera frontman Philip H. Anselmo in an effort to release material by his many side projects and from other bands he’s supported throughout his career. Joining this leg of the tour will be St. Louis-based metal trio and recent Housecore Records signees NEST, featuring Scour/Agoraphobic Nosebleed bassist John Jarvis, as well as two Detroit juggernauts – art punk/noise metallers CHILD BITE and hardcore punk/thrashers SNAFU (Situation Normal All Fucked Up) — both of which opened for Pantera in 2023.

Notes Anselmo, “I am very pleased Housecore bands will have the opportunity to play these shows; they’re all excellent and will deliver the goods, no doubt, so show up early!”

The bands comment:

NEST – Photo by John Jarvis

NEST’s John Jarvis: “I’d like to thank Housecore Records, Lamb Of God, and Pantera for this incredible opportunity! I was lucky enough to see Pantera when I was 12, and if you had told me then that I’d open up for them on an arena tour in 2024, I would have called you crazy. Actually, I still don’t believe it as I type this, but it’s apparently happening! Thanks to everyone that’s helped us along the way and all NEST members past and present. It’s truly a dream come true and will probably go down as the coolest thing that’s ever happened to me.”

CHILD BITE’s Shawn Knight: “Oh boy, here we go! Pantera hath beckoned the BITE… again. Can’t wait to blast our brain-damaged jams in some MFing arenas. Winter too, so it’ll actually be dark when we play this time around! Philip, Rex, Charlie, Zakk… see you at catering [smooch]!”

SNAFU – Photo by Brian Sheehan

SNAFU’s Scott Curnow: “Oh man, I can’t believe we get to do this again! Last Summer was absolutely insane for us. One minute we’re playing in a two-car garage to fifty people, the next minute we’re opening for Pantera and Lamb Of God in front of 13,000 people. What a trip! We’re forever grateful to the Pantera crew, the Housecore family, and Lamb Of God for having us back. We can’t wait!”

GRAVESEND

New York City-based GRAVESEND released their second LP for 20 Buck Spin, Gowanus Death Stomp, in October. A gritty and primal barrage of violence at the crossroads of criminal depravity and urban malaise, GRAVESEND utilizes many tools of the trade: black, death, grind, and war metal all meld seamlessly into a tar pit of scathing back-alley sadism and acid-tongued vocals

Like a newly found corpse down by the docks, the smell of decomp is wafting out of every track on Gowanus Death Stomp. And as with NYC’s underground legends from Cro-Mags to Swans to Type O Negative, GRAVESEND embodies the pulse of the city, even as that pulse bleeds out on the concrete. Gowanus Death Stomp was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Tomb Mold, Kommand), and the album was completed with cover photos by Mark Weber.

MAUL – photo by Jason Dahlke

Based out of Fargo, North Dakota, MAUL impacted the US death metal underground through via various demos, splits, EPs, and their Seraphic Punishment full-length debut in 2022. 20 Buck Spin picked up the band on the strength of that first album and while the band painstakingly constructs their new full-length, they made their label debut with the Desecration And Enchantment EP in November. The songs were captured in May 2023 at Signaturetone Recordings in Minneapolis (Ulthar, Obsequiae, Sunless), recorded, mixed, and mastered by Adam Tucker. The songs feature guest synth and sample work by Isthmus of Styx, and the EP is completed with cover artwork by S. Deloria Black Wolf.

Posted in Death Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, music videos with tags , , , , , on December 29, 2023 by Metal Odyssey

Death metal quartet SLAUGHTERSUN present their first ferocious offering, “Fall of the Firmament”. Brutal riffs, aggressive vocals and unrelenting percussion produces an unstoppable force as the track displays their lament for the miserable collapse of an ever sinking world.

Ben Karas comments on “Fall of the Firmament”:

“Lyrically this song combines the lore of the Nephilim, which are a race of giant angels rumored to be responsible for the great flood, and pits that dynamic against the tech age and the giant names of that industry mimicking the decadence and ugliness that brought about the end times.”

About SLAUGHTERSUN:
Drawing musical, lyrical and creative influences from the likes of DEMILICH, GORGUTS, CANNIBAL CORPSE and AT THE GATES, to name a few, SLAUGHTERSUN create their own take on the death metal subgenre. Band founder Ben Karas initially began writing for SLAUGHTERSUN back in 2017, but it wasn’t until 2022 that Karas was able to fully dedicate time and energy into the band. The band’s line-up soon came together comprised of Karas’ THANK YOU SCIENTIST band mate Cody McCorry, along with Jason Quinones (TOMBSTONER) and Justin Hillman (CRANIAL DAMAGE). In 2023, SLAUGHTERSUN began to rehearse and record in their full form and soon turned to preparing their debut “Fall of the Firmament”.

Power Vocalist ANDRY Launches Solo Career, Reveals Debut Single ‘Skies’ From Upcoming Album

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal concerts, metal music, Power Metal with tags , , , , , , on December 18, 2023 by Metal Odyssey

“The missing link between Ronnie James Dio and Christina Aguilera”. That’s how Athens born ANDRY LAGIOU describes herself as a vocalist. A former runner-up on The Voice of Greece and frontwoman of The Harps, she has decided to embark on a solo career and will be just ANDRY.

Being a well-known name on the international metal scene, her highly anticipated debut album ‘Skies’ will be released on February 16 2024 through Baby Mistress Records.

The first single, for the title-track ‘Skies’ is out now and available on all streaming platforms via The Orchard, at https://orcd.co/skies.

Skies’, the hard-hitting title track of the album is an important song for Andry and close to her heart: “Skies is about empowerment and rising through the ashes of a nuclear war having many allegories of female abuse and my personal life. The artwork of the album is inspired by the space and how it might look in the future. Since you can’t live in the past it is consoling to dream about the future and about the changes it will bring.”

Andry is much more than just a singer… songwriter, guitar player, feminist. She first appeared on the scene in 2013, when she founded her band The Harps but it was in 2017 when she took Greece by storm after winning a blind audition on The Voice, covering a spectacular version of Deep Purple’s ‘Burn’. The video garnered more than one million views on YouTube (see below). After finishing as the runner-up at The Voice of Greece, Andry released the album ‘Love Strikes Doves’ with The Harps and was featured as guest vocalist on several albums, including The Vivaldi Metal Project and prog metal act Pyramid, where she duetted with Tim Ripper Owens on the smash song ‘Stygma’.

By 2022 Andry decided to take fate in her own hand and wrote and recorded her first solo-album ‘Skies’. Mixed by sound wizard Jay Ruston (Anthrax, Winery Dogs, Steel Panther), the album features contributions from Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big, Winery Dogs, David Lee Roth), Mike Lepond (Symphony X), Russell Gilbrook (Uriah Heep) and Stephen Platt (Devin Townsend).

Most of all, ‘Skies’ contains the amazing vocal and songwriting talents of Andry, a strong and confident woman who has taken control of her own career… and life: “One choses her own destiny. Are you a slave to your emotions or your goals? Life is like a jungle, you eat or you’ll be eaten.”

With the imminent release of her album, Andry has put a kick-ass live band together to take her music to live stages across Europe and beyond. Her tour will start in January with shows in the Benelux.

Ukrainian Death Metal Quartet SCHIZOGEN Release New Single, “Out of the Light”

Posted in Death Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news with tags , , , , , on December 15, 2023 by Metal Odyssey

Kyiv (UA) – After a long silence, Ukrainian Brutal Death Metal quartet SCHIZOGEN have released a lyric video new single “Out of the Light,” courtesy of Slam Worldwide YouTube Channel. The song will appear on the band’s forthcoming, as yet untitled, third album, which will be released on Willowtip Records. The video is available at: youtu.be/wFkRsQExeWI

The single is also available on Spotify and Apple Music.

“The single was written before the full-scale war that followed Russia’s unprovoked aggression against Ukraine,” the band explains. “So it took much longer than we would have liked, but we hope you will appreciate the result. We are not going to tell you what this song is about, what meanings and feelings we put into it, because in our opinion everything is very individual. That is why the release is in the form of a lyric video, where everyone can familiarize themselves with the lyrics while listening to the composition, experience it with us and get their own emotions, their own vision of the meanings embedded in this track.”

SCHIZOGEN goes on to say that, “We want to remind you and ask you not to forget that every day our best people bravely and steadfastly choose their freedom over the threat of losing their existence due to the aggression of a hostile totalitarian regime that wants to destroy us at any cost. Your support is very important to us! Glory to Ukraine!”
