As 20 Buck Spin prepares to release Darkness Evermore, the sophomore full-length from Portland-based NIGHTFELL, the label has issued the cover art, track listing and confirmed vinyl release date for the anxiously awaited album.
NIGHTFELL is the tumultuous project founded by Todd Burdette (Tragedy, His Hero Is Gone, Warcry) and Tim Call (Aldebaran, Mournful Congregation, Sempiternal Dusk, Saturnalia Temple), who here forge their perceptions into a harsh, epic, and wholly different delivery than any of either artists’ prior or other current bands. Surging with bleak viewpoints lyrically, matched by the seething aggression of each song’s brooding misery, the follow-up to their 2014-issued The Living Ever Mourn displays NIGHTFELL‘s wrath in an even more slickly deployed state.
On the potent Darkness Evermore, the duo unloads a more than forty-minute deluge of new material through six demoralizing new tracks recorded and mixed at Red Lantern Studios by Evan “Maus” Mersky and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, as with their debut.
20 Buck Spin will issue Darkness Evermore on CD and digital platforms on September 11th, with the 12″ LP now confirmed for an October 23rd street date. In 2014, Portland’s NIGHTFELL stormed decisively onto the worldwide metal scene with their forceful debut album The Living Ever Mourn, released through Southern Lord and Parasitic Records. Having since further fortified their ominous fusion of shadowed disharmony, the band now marches forward with Darkness Evermore, a commanding display of power, tension and dynamics. Again defying easy classification, Darkness Evermore seethes with NIGHTFELL‘s fiery, apocalyptic energy from the opening moments of “At Last” until the final “Collapse” and through the cycle of “The Cleansing” and “Rebirth” in between.
Ranging from short respites to more than ten minute epic pieces, the album’s blackened guitar harmonies and bleak melodies provide a somber counterpoint to the massive, imposing riffs strewn about the record like bodies on a war-torn field. Unsurprisingly considering the primary members’ other musical outlets, the immense ferocity of the vocals exact a heavy toll and agonizing dread.
As on the debut LP, great care has been taken on the production and mastering side of Darkness Evermore to ensure a brutally heavy mix with a punishing low-end that maintains clarity throughout. Poised to make the shift from studio project to live band in the coming months, NIGHTFELL‘s second LP signals a new birth for a band only beginning to make its indelible mark.

Tragically, this would be the last studio album that the legendary (and late) Bon Scott would sing on. Robert John “Mutt” Lange was the producer for Highway To Hell. My favorite song on this album is: Touch Too Much. Oh, man, that song revs me up, like no tomorrow!

Farewell To Accept: Metal Icon, Udo Dirkschneider is planning a special tour in which he will perform Accept songs one last time before he closes the chapter for good. Wacken – At a press conference in the VIP tent of Wacken Open Air, legendary metal singer, Udo Dirkschneider dropped some bombshell news on all those in attendance: the 62-year-old cult musician announced his definitive farewell to the Accept song library. On a special tour beginning in 2016, he will perform songs by Accept one last time before he retires them for good. It will be a night of epic proportions.

During this Accept farewell tour, he will only showcase songs from the Udo era of the band. The German rock staple will close a huge chapter of music history forever. In the early 80´s, the Solingen-raised singer skyrocketed to worldwide acclaim with the band Accept and with his unmistakeable voice. He had several hits such as Balls To The Wall and Princess of the Dawn. Now he has announced that he will perform these much-loved hits on this special tour one more time before he removes them from the set list forever.
“I still love singing these songs live,“ Dirkschneider says. “The songs still are an important part of my catalog and still suit my voice very well. But at some point in your life, it´s just time to close the chapter. There has been so much talk and speculation about Accept, so I just want to give my last definitive musical statement about it and give my fans a chance to see me perform a complete concert of these songs one last time on stage.“

After this tour, Udo will only play songs from his extensive library of U.D.O. material. After being kicked out of Accept in the late 80´s, he garnered many classic hits with his new band in a long and successful career, such as Animal House, Timebomb, and Man and Machine. “There is enough high quality material to fill a two-hour set with no problem,“ says Dirkschneider. “U.D.O. has been the band where I belong for 18 years and I want to pay tribute to them from now on.“

On July 31st, 2015 – Canada’s Melodic Death Metal band KATAKLYSM releases their twelfth studio album Of Ghosts And Gods, via Nuclear Blast Records. Freaking YEAH!
Hamburg’s GRIM VISION will release new EP War Agony on limited edition 7″ vinyl through Bastardized Recordings August 28th. A furious mix of hardcore and dark metal, the three songs of War Agony featured poem-based lyrics about the destruction, WAR and AGONY caused by humanity in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Rifftera’s debut album Pitch Black will be released on August 28th, 2015 by Inverse Records. It contains 8 songs and 54 minutes of angry, tight, crushing and yet beautiful riff-oriented Metal. Excluding drum recordings and mastering, which were done by a professional, the album is completely homemade.

As the Finnish summer draws to an end, the once white nights grow darker and colder by the day. Antagonist Zero delivers a fitting soundtrack for the season, complementing the darkening skies with a blend of atmospheric melodies and aggressive melancholy. On August 14 the band’s latest offering, No Tears MCD, is released via Inverse Records. No Tears continues on the path set by Antagonist Zero’s previous releases, the critically acclaimed Doomed and Nighttime Harmony, blending together elements of doom, death and post shades of metal.
No Tears consists of five songs: three originals and two covers. The originals are a harbinger of an upcoming full-length album, demonstrating new elements in Antagonist Zero’s music – such as the title track’s this-will-get-stuck-in-your-head riffs, Profound Oblivion’s wrecking ball groove and Suru, which is sung completely in Finnish. The two cover songs are familiar to listeners from the band’s live shows: Doom:VS’s melodic doom suits the band like a glove in the form of The Lachrymal Sleep, while Missä muruseni on, by Finnish pop queen Jenni Vartiainen, has received a work over which has already charmed live audiences all over Europe, Russia and China.
The release of No Tears will be celebrated on August 15 at Dark River festival in Kotka, Finland, where Antagonist Zero will be playing with such bands as Ghost Brigade, Poisonblack and Stam1na. More tour dates will be announced soon.
Washington D.C. area Metal band A SOUND OF THUNDER has announced their new album “Tales from the Deadside” with a Kickstarter campaign that reached full funding in under 24 hours. The new album is a full-length concept album based on Valiant Entertainment’s SHADOWMAN comic book series.
The album was recorded at Assembly Line Studios with RIAA-platinum awarded producer Kevin ‘131’ Gutierrez (Shinedown, While Heaven Wept, Raven). The new release “Tales from the Deadside” is set for release on September 25th and will be available on CD, limited colored vinyl, and in a number of exclusive pre-order packages only on Kickstarter. The standard CD edition of “Tales from the Deadside” will feature all-new Shadowman cover artwork, while select backers of the Kickstarter campaign can obtain an exclusive cover featuring Shadowman’s arch-nemesis Master Darque. Acid King released their first album in a decade, Middle of Nowhere, Center of Everywhere, in April. Outburn Magazine awarded the album a perfect 10, saying the new songs are “six of the most haunting, memorable stoner rock tunes in some time.” Decibel, who called the record a “superlative cosmic pile driver,” and dubbed the trio “pioneers of the whole stoner metal sound.”
Death-saluting Metal collective, GRUESOME, will take to the streets next month on a short run of live performances. On July 15th, 2015 – The third studio album, Reincarnate, from Pennsylvania’s Motionless In White is ranked at #40, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. It’s an excellent album too. This MIW record was released back in September of 2014. Metal Be Thy Name.
On July 15th, 2015 – Black Sabbath’s compilation album We Sold Our Soul For Rock ‘N’ Roll is ranked at #100, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Man, alive! This album was originally released back in 1976, in the USA.
JOE SATRIANI
On July 15th, 1956, Joe Satriani was born in the USA. Happy Birthday, Joe Satriani! Holy macaroni! Joe Satriani is an influential and world-class guitarist, while earning a super successful career as a solo artist. As a founding member of the G3 concert tour, Joe Satriani has performed on stage with dozens of guitar legends over the years, including: Steve Vai, Eric Johnson and Yngwie Malmsteen, to name a select few.
Joe is also a member of the great Hard Rock supergroup: Chickenfoot. Joe Satriani’s extensive solo discography dates back to 1986, with his debut album: Not Of This Earth. Long live Joe Satriani!
Death Metal horde WARFATHER have entered Mana Studios in recent days, to begin tracking the as-of-yet untitled follow-up to 2014’s Orchestrating the Apocalypse. The band’s sophomore full-length album will be released on Greyhaze Records.
Masterminded by Death Metal veteran Steven Tucker, who recently rejoined MORBID ANGEL, WARFATHER has tapped Erik Rutan to produce the new material. The album will mark the first time Tucker and Rutan have officially worked together since MORBID ANGEL’s Gateways to Annihilation.
