BLACKENED THRASH MEETS CLASSICAL MUSIC, SET FOR RELEASE ON PEACEVILLE ON JUNE 13th 2025
This year, Japanese black metal legends Sigh celebrate 35 years of existence. With a career that has seen the release of 12 studio albums, countless worldwide shows, and a relentless dedication to pushing musical boundaries, they have firmly cemented their status as one of the most revered and influential cult acts in extreme metal.
To celebrate, Sigh have decided to revisit their 2007 opus, Hangman’s Hymn. A compositional powerhouse in its own right, Hangman’s Hymn was notably Sigh’s first concept album, blending fast 80s thrash metal influences from bands like Wehrmacht, Sarcofago, and Repulsion with classical music, particularly German symphonies. However, Hangman’s Hymn was often seen as not fully meeting the band’s own standards in terms of execution and production.
As a result, frontman Mirai Kawashima has taken it upon himself to do justice to this at times overlooked masterpiece of intricate songwriting by re-recording it with the current Sigh sound and delivery, under the title I Saw the World’s End – Hangman’s Hymn MMXXV. Set for release on Peaceville on June 13th.
I SAW THE WORLD’S END (HANGMAN’S HYMN MMXXV) Introitus / Kyrie (MMXXV) [04:30] Inked in Blood (MMXXV) [03:13] Me-Devil (MMXXV) [03:19] Dies Irae (MMXXV) [00:40] The Master Malice (MMXXV) [04:46] The Memories as a Sinner (MMXXV) [03:30] Death with Dishonor (MMXXV) [03:08] In Devil’s Arms (MMXXV) [04:32] Overture (MMXXV) [01:14] Rex Tremendae / I Saw the World’s End (MMXXV) [05:18] Salvation in Flame / Confutatis (MMXXV) [05:22] Finale: Hangman’s Hymn / In Paradisum / Das Ende (MMXXV) [04:47]
Mirai himself explains the background to the project:
“Hangman’s Hymn, which was released in 2007, is one of my best compositions of my whole career, but it does not necessarily mean that this is my favorite Sigh album. The excessively monotonous drumming must be the biggest issue. The guitars are sloppy. The production is far from the best. And my orchestrations and vocals could have been much better. So what if we re-record this with better musicians and today’s production?”
“The idea was always in my head, and finally the time has come to make it happen. I do know that re-recording can be the double-edged sword. “Scorn Defeat” has some flaws. So does “Imaginary Sonicscape”. But I will never ever re-record those albums as I am sure that it would lose their magic. But “Hangman’s Hymn” is an exception. You can easily tell what I mean if you listen to this completely re-recorded version”.
Sigh by Itsutaka Takusagawa
With Nozomu Wakai on guitar and the returning Mike Heller on drums, I Saw the World’s End – Hangman’s Hymn MMXXV is by far the fiercest, most brutal, and the most symphonic Sigh album to date, with the added flawless delivery of the new members and new orchestration with real orchestral instruments. The production by Lasse Lammert also brings a whole other dimension to the album with cover artwork courtesy of Eliran Cantor.
Japanese black metal legends Sigh formed in 1989/1990. The genre-classic debut Scorn Defeat followed on Euronymous’ Deathlike Silence Productions in 1993, and with each subsequent release, Sigh grew to become one of the country’s greatest and most revered metal exports.
With a journey through the strange and the psychedelic, incorporating a whole eclectic mix of genre styles & experimentation throughout their career, Sigh has remained a vital creative force in the avantgarde field, whilst maintaining their old school roots, as witnessed with the stellar 2022 album, Shiki.

Today marks the release of the new album by New England metal band AVERSED. Erasure of Color is now available on all streaming/download platforms, as well as jewelcase CD, and limited-edition smoked colored vinyl (300 copies) and cassette (100 copies) from supportive physical and online retailers, as well as Bandcamp and our webstore – Options HERE
Additionally, to celebrate today’s album release, AVERSED have premiered another fine music video highlighting the band’s ferocious live performance for the track “Burn.” Watch video HERE
“We shot the ‘Burn’ video at our home base venue – the Middle East in Cambridge, Massachusetts,” explains guitarist Sungwoo Jeong. “We unleashed our videographers into the packed crowd to brave the pit and capture the energy of the show and they survived! Happy to have captured that amazing show for all eternity
“The first iteration of ‘Burn’ originally came about when Sungwoo wanted to write an anthemic song for big stages,” reveals drummer Jeff Saltzman. “Naturally, when we finished arranging it together, it had a full-on rumba-clave section and a bass solo. And then I wrote lyrics espousing violent class revolution, not exactly typical anthem material! However, I think the final product is really a great picture of Aversed, combining a series of chaotic elements into a cohesive piece that is both catchy, and evocative.”
“Burn” joins two previous singles/videos “Lucid Decapitation”and “Cross to Bear” as samples of the group’s latest work showcasing the quintet’s intense, progressive, and blistering material.
Erasure of Color comes packaged with intriguing artwork from Adam Burke (Unto Others, Gatecreeper, Cloak) of Nightjar Illustration, and is self-produced by bassist Alden Marchand and guitarist Sungwoo Jeong with orchestrations composed/arranged by Vikram Shankar (Redemption, Silent Skies, Pain Of Salvation) with a mix by AJ Viana (Wormhole, Hath, Cognitive) and mastered by Brad Boatright (Code Orange, Obituary, 200 Stab Wounds).
AVERSED formed in Boston with guitarist Sungwoo Jeong and bassist Martin Epstein remaining the sole members from the early days. By 2016, with the additions of drummer Jeff Saltzman (currently on tour with Allegaeon) and guitarist Alden Marchand, the band released their impactful EP, Renewal, demonstrating their ambition and future promise.
Their blend of extreme instrumentation and tender melodicism was highlighted with 2021’s full-length CD, Impermanent, displaying further growth, musicianship and potential. Now joined by Sarah Hartman on vocals, AVERSED are armed with a new album full of rage and yearning. Erasure of Color presents a glimpse of hope and beauty on a backdrop of raging, mournful Gothic Extreme Metal.

I hope all of you enjoy it and tell your friends.” The band previously released the near-10 minute long song “Victory of the Pyramids,” which Consequence declared a “minor epic.”

Montreal aggro-metal troupe CHÜZO will be hitting the road in March for weekend warrior dates in Ontario for shows in Oshawa, Toronto, and Hamilton. The tour dates are in support of their latest EP M.T.M.D (Maximum Threshold, Minimum Decay) unleashedthis past October and produced with Kevin Jardine (Slaves On Dope, Uplift Recording Studio) (dates listed below).
The band recently released their latest knock-out music video “Bruised and Broken”, which can be seen and heard at: https://youtu.be/0mVkPAsgN3k
“This track is about being pushed, provoked, and instigated to the point of no return. When in life one encounters certain individuals whose existence is to only make you angry and enraged; to bully you and disrespect you beyond aggravation, and the inevitable result that losing your temper and seeing red does to the individual being provoked and instigated is what this track is about. The utter destruction and devastation that awaits the foolish person who dares to provoke a person who has been pushed to the edge of human insanity; fuck around and find out!” adds the band.
CHÜZO‘s new EPM.T.M.D (Maximum Threshold, Minimum Decay) is a three-track record that marks the next chapter and a true representation of what the quartet’s sound is meant to be.
“This new EP was to showcase our new lineup with our newest songs that are truly representative of our musical style, a style that we proudly call ‘Aggro-Metal.’ Very aggressive metal songs that have relatable themes that anyone can listen to and understand. This EP is our audio shotgun blast to the world to pay attention to and to mosh intensively during our live sets.”adds guitarist Cristian S.
CHÜZO‘s new lineup features the ensnaring vocals of Taiwanese Brazilian transplant Mischa M joining local first-generation Chilean Canadian and mastermind Cristian S. along with Carlos G from Venezuela and Alex S from Russia who all have found Montreal, Canada to be their home-to-breed their blender of grindcore, Swedish death metal, thrash, and hardcore punk to transform a sub-genre dubbed ‘Aggro Metal’.
The EP’s lyrics are driven by self-reflection and daily struggles. The inspiration for writing comes from life experiences and trying to live past them, especially the traumatic ones. Using all bad energy from bad experiences to create something positive for yourself and the world. This EP speaksof vengeance and the bad side of dedicating your life to achieving your desired revenge despite your own life and sanity. Brutal Social Justice.
For fans of Sepultura (Cavalera Bros era 84-96), At the Gates, Napalm Death, Slipknot, and Fuck the Facts, M.T.M.D (Maximum Threshold, Minimum Decay) was released on November 15, 2024.

Italian crust / grindcore squad HORRID HUMAN CONDITION will release their debut album Perpetual Imbalance on April 18th 2025 via Time To Kill Records.
The first single, “Abused by Life”, is now streaming HERE.
The band commented:
“‘Abused by Life’ was the first track composed by the band, shortly after the formation in the summer of 2022. Musically, it is a synthesis of the influences found throughout the album, ranging from neocrust to more traditionally crust punk sounds, with some black metal elements. The song deals with the theme of human exploitation in the workplace. In an increasingly fast-paced and cynical society, the ones who suffer the consequences are the workers, forced to give up their rights just to survive, spending a part of their existence in a state of alienation.”
“The lyrics are inspired by two major films: ‘Metropolis’ by Fritz Lang and ‘The Working Class Goes to Heaven’ by Elio Petri.”
Track-list:
01 – Prelude to Failure 02 – Man is Overrated 03 – Heavy Burden 04 – The Great Decay 05 – Endless Nightmare 06 – Scorn 07 – A New Famine 08 – Price to Pay 09 – Nowhere to Hide 10 – Abused by Life 11 – Disguise 12 – Total Indifference 13 – The Last Era 14 – Black Lungs
Band Bio: Horrid Human Condition was formed in the summer of 2022 when Alessandro (vocals), Claudio (guitar) and Marino (bass) met Carlo (drums). Drawing from parallel experiences with other projects (laCasta, Nigredo), the first sessions came out very productive: in a few months the band wrote 14 songs, played live for the first time in March 2023 and recorded in December of the same year.
The band’s name is a sign of the social and existential dread of mankind. It’s the disillusion that comes forth when one realizes that the system in which all of us live thrives not for the good of the people, but for the good of the rich and powerful, in the expense of the far majority of us who are less fortunate.
It’s the disillusion that comes forth when one realizes that money, religion, morals, politics and so on are just tools used by power to maintain itself.
Musically, Crust Punk and Grindcore can convey this dread very well, with their extreme and fast-paced rhythms. A sharp and high-pitched guitar, a sludgy, acid, monolithic bass and machine-gun-like drums support screamed-out and barked vocals, in a Triumph of desperate energy, where the band actively seeks out contact with the public.

Following a year of mounting anticipation, Californian metal legends BLEEDING THROUGH have released their massively anticipated 9th album, NINE, today via SharpTone Records.
Over 2 decades ago, BLEEDING THROUGH burst on the scene setting a brutal new benchmark for the genre. Now, the influential band returns with yet another career defining record, NINE. Featuring raging tracks like ‘Path of Our Disease,’ ‘Our Brand Is Chaos,’ ‘Dead But So Alive,’ ‘I Am Resistance‘ (Feat. Andrew Neufeld of COMEBACK KID) and newly released standout track ‘War Time‘ (Feat. Brian Fair of SHADOWS FALL), the band’s first record in 7 years is replete with blistering heavy riffs, neck-snapping rhythm and venomous dueling vocals with messages of hope and unity in times of despair.
Commenting on the new record, vocalist Brandan Schieppati says:
“Nine is a statement of pride through these songs. We poured 25 years of passion, aggression and emotion into this record. This record is dark, raw and purely Bleeding Through.”
1. Gallows 2. Our Brand Is Chaos 3. Dead, But So Alive 4. Hail Destruction 5. Lost In Isolation (Feat. Doc Coyle/God Forbid) 6. Last Breath 7. Path Of Our Disease 8. I Am Resistance (Feat. Andrew Neufeld/Comeback Kid) 9. Emery 10. War Time (Feat. Brian Fair/Shadows Fall) 11. Unholy Armada
AboutBLEEDING THROUGH:
After 25 years, eight albums, and countless gigs, Bleeding Through persist as a tried-and-true outlier in heavy music and culture.
The Southern California stalwarts wield an enigmatic and unmistakable signature sound born at the crossroads of no-holds-barred hardcore, cutthroat thrash, and cinematic black metal. Mastering a drastic push-and-pull, they have always occupied their own elevated realm in the extreme space, exhibiting a rare ability to not only incite a moshpit, but also invite complete immersion. It’s why they’ve endured changing tides and trends and stood strong as a force of nature with consistent critical acclaim and packed shows.
However, the six-piece of Brandan Schieppati [vocals], Derek Youngsma [drums], John Arnold [guitar], Ryan Wombacher [bass], Marta Peterson [keys, vocals], and Brandon Richter [guitar], assuredly perfect this vision in 2025 on their aptly titled ninth full-length offering, NINE [Sharptone Records].
“We knew we wanted to make a really dark record,” says Brandan. “For as raw as the feeling is, we were also very deliberate in terms of the orchestration. It’s definitely a balance. We put everything into NINE. I remember saying, ‘This needs to be the most true representation of what Bleeding Through is’. I think we achieved that.”
Bleeding Through bulldozed their way out of Orange County just before the turn-of-the-century. Following Dust To Ashes [2001] and Portrait of the Goddess [2002], they delivered a classic in the form of This Is Love, This Is Murderous [2003], which Revolver retrospectively christened it a “quintessential piece of 2000s metal.” They picked up the pace with The Truth, bowing at #1 on the Billboard Top Independent Albums Chart.
The band expanded their catalog with Declaration [2008], Bleeding Through [2010], The Great Fire [2012], and Love Will Kill All [2018]. In a “4-out-of-5 star review” of the latter, Metal Hammer attested, “This is an impressive comeback that’s tight, hungry and wired with the kind of energy younger bands can only sniff at.” Over the years, they notably toured with everyone from Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine, Disturbed, and Machine Head to Darkest Hour, Hatebreed, and Parkway Drive in addition to appearing on both OZZfest and Warped Tour.
Allegaeon are co-headlining the USA and Canada with Warbringer on The Vortex of Violence Tour. Support will be Skeletal Remains and Summoning The Lich:

“Dark Oblivion” is the brand new single from British death metal collective, AS THE WORLD DIES. The track comes by way of the band’s second studio album, Nebula, set for release on March 21st via Reaper Entertainment.
Nebula is a gripping journey through the realms of crushing death metal and cosmic mysticism. Band leader and death metal veteran Scott Fairfax explains, “This album is the quintessence of what AS THE WORLD DIES is all about. We pushed our musical boundaries to create something both brutal and thought-provoking. It’s heavier, darker, and more profound than anything we’ve done before.”
The album dives into themes of apocalyptic prophesies and human insignificance, epitomized by the looming presence of the asteroid Apophis, a key inspiration behind the band’s cosmic death metal sound. Adding a progressive touch with atmospheric ‘80s synths and a haunting industrial edge, Nebula expands the boundaries of the genre while maintaining its relentless death metal core.
Watch AS THE WORLD DIES‘ lyric video for “Dark Oblivion” HERE.
Written and recorded primarily in Fairfax’s studio Riff Central, Nebula is a testament to his singular vision and expertise. With a noteworthy resume featuring bands like Memoriam and Massacre, Fairfax delivers an album that is as musically intricate as it is thematically profound. “Atmosphere is everything to me,” he notes. “Songs must tell a story; otherwise, they’re just a collection of riffs.”
The latest single, “Dark Oblivion,” is a tour de force showcasing the band’s signature blend of heavy, melodic riffs and apocalyptic storytelling. With its brooding atmosphere and devastating impact, the track serves as a chilling anthem for the end times.
Nebula is set to challenge and redefine death metal conventions with its fusion of raw aggression and thoughtful composition. Mixed and mastered by Anthony Wall, the record promises to be an unforgettable chapter in the band’s journey.
Nebula will be available on CD, vinyl, and digital formats. Find preorders at THIS LOCATION.

Releasing On January 10th, 2025 on Reigning Phoenix Music via its partnership with Distortion Music Group
EX DEO, the Juno nominated project of KATAKYLSM frontman Maurizio Iacono, will unleash their EP Year of the Four Emperors. The EP is their first with Reigning Phoenix Music and will be released on January 10th, 2025 exclusively on tour and through the RPM webstores. Further physical editions, including exclusive vinyl, will be released February 14th. The band will also embark on a tour of Europe In January in support of DARK FUNERAL and FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE before heading to North America in the spring in support of SEPTICFLESH and VLTIMAS.
To commemorate the release announcement, the band has revealed the first single “Vespasian” along with a lyric video which can be watched HERE:
Maurizio comments about the song: “The EP’s closing track is an anthem of resilience and renewal. Vespasian emerges as a figure of stability amid the chaos, and the music reflects his calculated strength. Triumphant melodies intertwine with thunderous percussion, capturing his consolidation of power and the restoration of Rome’s fractured empire. The lyrics exalt Vespasian as the harbinger of a new era, culminating in a resounding declaration of victory and legacy. His reign ushers in the Flavian dynasty and a semblance of peace.”

Australian Death Metal brutes, GUTLESS, have released their debut album, High Impact Violence! The album is available on CD and digital formats via Dark Descent Records. Me Saco Un Ojo is handling vinyl treatment. The cassette edition is available through both labels. Purchase/stream at the following links:
GUTLESS gave us one of 2018’s filthiest demos. Two years later, we saw a split release with Mortal Wound. Now, six years after that demo, we are finally getting the debut album. Strap in; this one is going to be nauseating…
Instantly they cave in your skull with maniacal riffing and unrelenting drum assaults. If you can’t withstand the might of Death Metal, turn back fast. The equally violent vocal attack will seal the deal as the insanity creeps further into the cemetery, searching for prey.
GUTLESS has that perfect blend of old-school savagery while retaining their personality and sound that doesn’t feel like a diluted version of a superior band. Snap-neck rhythms and visceral grinding warfare will certainly have even the seasoned maniac tearing at their flesh in morbid ecstasy as this short but sweet opus erupts pus into their ear canal.
If you need more convincing, take a look at that cover art; reminiscent of the 90s while striking in its own right. You had better believe the album is just as damaging as that brick. Contorting and convulsing into tormenting visions of the macabre, GUTLESS contradicts their name by dragging out your entrails repeatedly across eight indomitable cuts of sadism and brutality. The underground still has plenty of bite down under and these fiends proudly showcase one of the nastiest examples you will hear this year!”

2025 U.S. TOUR COMES NINE YEARS AFTER INITIAL CO-HEADLINING TREK
THE MELVINS BRING BACK DOUBLE DRUMMER LINE-UP FEATURING DALE CROVER AND COADY WILLIS
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 19, 2024 – Napalm Death and the Melvins trek across the U.S. this Spring, joining forces for the next chapter of their legendary “Savage Imperial Death March” tour.
The iconic bands first teamed up in 2016 for a six-week tour. The Melvins brought their unparalleled mix of punk and metal, while Napalm Death delivered their signature ferocious grindcore, delivering an unforgettable experience for fans of intense, boundary-pushing music.
“Napalm Death! Melvins! What a dream! Not only are we looking forward to being on the road with our friends in Napalm Death, but we’re excited to have both Dale and Coady both on drums once again,” Buzz Osborne shares, noting that this is the return of Dale Crover behind the kit following a medical emergency in 2023, and the first time Coady Willis will perform in tandem with Crover since 2016.
The nine-week “Savage Imperial Death March Part II” outing also features an all-star line-up of openers: Weedeater (April 4-May 5), Titan To Tachyons featuring Mr. Bungle’s Trevor Dunn (May 7- 20), The Hard-Ons with Jerry A (May 22-June 7) and Shane Embury’s Dark Sky Burial, who will perform on all dates.

Napalm Death are credited as pioneers of the grindcore genre by incorporating elements of crust punk and death metal, using a noise-filled sound that uses heavily distorted, down-tuned guitars, grinding overdrive bass, high-speed tempos, blast beats, and vocals that consist of incomprehensible growls or high-pitched shrieks.
Their music features extremely short songs, fast tempos, and sociopolitical lyrics. Even after exerting an indelible influence on the entire world of heavy music for nearly 40 years, there is still no band on Earth that sounds like Napalm Death. Not just pioneers, but an enduring benchmark for invention and fearlessness in a heavy and experimental music of all kinds, the Birmingham legends are still hurtling forward at full pelt.

The Melvins are one of modern music’s most influential bands. Having formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington, the group – founded by vocalist/guitarist Buzz Osborne, with drummer Dale Crover joining a year later – has been credited with merging the worlds of punk rock and heavy music, forming a new subgenre all their own. Over their 40-plus-year career, they’ve released more than 30 original albums, numerous live records, and far too many to count singles and rarities.
Recent releases include 2024’s Tarantula Heart, an album that Osborne wrote songs based on a series of improvisational live sessions, the six-song 2022 Bad Mood Rising, and Five Legged Dog (2021), an ambitious 36-track acoustic collection that reimagines their heaviest songs alongside covers of their favorite artists.
